Students came from all over the country for an E-sports tournament in Harrisburg

Athletes from across the nation, here in Harrisburg for a two day tournament.

You'll recognize some of these names, Penn State, Ohio State, just to name a few.

The tournament at Harrisburg University for the HUE tournament -- where the games have been on all day.

There are 32 teams here from 21 schools nationwide.

They're all competing in E-sports. It's a sport that's gaining momentum across the entire United States.

It’s gets very intense very quickly heart racing sort of adrenaline rush it’s not boring by any means," says E-sports Harrisburg University Player Grayson O'Connell.

Teams repping their colors from top universities, ready to compete.

This e-sports tournament -- the largest collegiate one ever held in the United States.

"Colleges as far away as Bellevue Washington, the team from Iowa drove in a van to get here so we’re excited to have everybody here," says Eric Darr, President of Harrisburg University.

The two games they're playing? Overwatch and League of Legends, both strategy games.

It's a sport that's new for many universities.

Lebanon Valley College forming their team back in January.

"When they announced E-sports at Lebanon Valley College I was so excited and I never thought I’d be at a tournament like this this is just like a dream come true for me," says gamer Nathan Darrah.

This level of competition and a 50 thousand dollar prize pool for scholarships.

It's bringing the sport front and center.

"It really shows the growth of e-sports in general and funding and everything that’s going into it and just the National attention it’s been getting," says Darrah.

O'Connell agrees saying, "It’s pretty incredible and it’s pretty amazing progress that some of the higher ups can see there’s real potential in this sport."

Not only are these gamers passionate about the sport.

It's much more than just fun.

"They offered me a full ride scholarship to do the thing I was doing in my free time. It's pretty incredible," says O'Connell.

The teams here will be competing over the next two days.

Tomorrow will be the finals as well as a festival on the street here at the university.
