Another great development in blockchain adoption as The University of Tokyo recently began offering a blockchain course at their graduate engineering school, courtesy of an $800 000 donation from a consortium made up of the Ethereum Foundation as well as Japanese banking giant Sumitomo Mitsui.

The class, aptly named the “Blockchain Innovation Donation Course” rolled out on November 1st and will run until October 2021 according to a statement by Sumitomo Mitsui.

Other notable donors include Good Luck Three, JSS Corp, Hotlink Co and Money Forward Inc.

Cultivation Of Blockchain Entrepreneurs Is The Main Goal:

The main purpose of this blockchain course is to educate motivated, business-savvy students with “outstanding talent in information mathematics” in the world of fintech as well as the ever-evolving technology behind cryptocurrencies.

Their hope is to nurture future blockchain entrepreneurs by educating them about decentralized networks and how to implement them in a social fashion.

We all know just how much of hot topic blockchain currently is with many corporations investing hefty amounts of money in order to promote the widespread adoption and development of blockchain technology.

Many experts have claimed that the innovative technology could aid in the transformation of the healthcare, banking, supply-chain management and entertainment industries.

$50 Million Donated To Multi-University Program by Ripple:

Earlier this year in June, the blockchain-based payment network Ripple donated $50 million to 17 different universities around the world in order to launch the partnership known as the University Blockchain Research Initiative and it was reported that Ripple made these donations in USD and not digital currencies.

Ripple stated that the growing interest in blockchain is immense as more people are discovering the many potential uses of DLT including the facilitation of faster cross-border payments.

Back in April 2018, Ripple also invested $25 million of their XRP token into the Blockchain Capital Parallel IV which is a whopping $150 million fund which will be used to invest in blockchain ventures.

Many highly regarded business education institutions around the globe, including Stanford have in fact expanded their current MBA course with offerings which include classes on blockchain and bitcoin.

According to a recent study, almost half of the world’s best universities now offer at least one crypto-related course.

The Best Business Schools Add Crypto-related Classes:

A professor at the Wharton School of the University Of Pennsylvania known as Kevin Werbach currently teaches a class known as “Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Distributed Ledger Technology.”

Werbach had this to say on his class:

“We’re at the point where there’s a critical mass to teach this domain,” Werbach told CNBC. “There will be a real phenomenon in business for the foreseeable future. And five years down the road, there won’t be too many major business schools that don’t offer similar classes.”

An executive director of the Georgetown University Business School – John Jacobs similarly claimed that he has been flooded with calls from many a corporate recruiter with interest in applicants who have a knowledge and understanding of blockchain technology.

Jacobs said:

“Any world-class program is going to have to equip students in this field to compete. It’s everywhere we turn around.”
