Dyrhólaey Cape and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach are one of the top Iceland scenic destinations. They are located in Southern Iceland near the village of Vik. Dyrhólaey is 120 m/390 ft high promontory and natural reserve with many birds nesting on its cliffs. Its name means door-hole, coming from the huge stone arch at the end of the cape. The beautiful black sand beach by Dyrholaey is called Kirkjufjara and is closed to tourists. Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach provides scenic views of Dyrhólaey, and to the nearby impressive basalt sea stacks Reynisdrangar. The Halsanefshellir basalt columns cave is right on the beach.
