HALF-SHEKEL PROJECT

It has been 1,926 years since the Romans replaced the Holy Half-Shekel with a unique half-shekel poll tax levied on the Jews. This was offered to Jupiter to add insult to injury following the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Today, 1,926 years later, prepartions are fully under way to restore this ancient Biblical custom to coincide with the celebration of the 50th year of the first stage of Redemption.

On November 26, 1996, work begins on the production of a prototype coin. For the first run of 50,000 coins we will need approximately 12,500 ounces of .999 fine silver bullion.

Many of you have contacted us and asked what you can do to help. Our response has been that as specific needs arise we would inform you of where help is needed. The Half-Shekel project has now proceeded to a point where you can personally get involved.

We are now accepting donations of .999 silver bullion for specific use in the first run of Half-Shekels.

Donations should be addressed to:

RESTORE THE HALF-SHEKEL FUND,
P.O. BOX 6711,
JERUSALEM 91066,
ISRAEL

We have, on-line, the Donors' Roll of silver, noting the donating city, country, amount of silver received, and date of receipt.
