A Neuroscience Inquiry Hub

The Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute (ZNI) stands as a collaborative center that unites the neuroscience community at USC. Within its realms, ZNI students engage in profound collaboration with preeminent researchers, delving into fundamental explorations of neuroscience. At its core, the institute is dedicated to addressing essential inquiries pertaining to human existence, encompassing the impact of aging on the brain, the intricate interplay between genes and environmental stimuli in shaping brain circuitry, and the quest to identify those most susceptible to various brain disorders.

ZNI Research

Our scientists reach across boundaries to embrace methods and techniques from many fields. They work to identify new approaches for examining nervous system function to discover underlying causes of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Research areas overlap considerably, and every Principal Investigator (PI) has multiple projects ongoing at any one time.
