Scoot, the low-cost arm of the Singapore Airlines Group launched in 2012 and merged with Tigerair in 2017, announced suspending flights to four cities amid weak demand and lack of aircraft resources.

The airline said it will stop operating all flights to Lucknow, Kalibo, Quanzhou and Male. All the flights are served by Airbus A320 aircraft.

“The aircraft shortage is arising as SilkAir, due to the grounding of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet, will no longer transfer its Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to Scoot in the financial year 2019/2020, as originally announced in November 2018”, explained the carrier in the statement.

Nevertheless, the airline reconfirmed that other SilkAir routes Scoot had earlier committed to transfer over will continue to be undertaken.
