Qatar Airways Goes for 18 Gulfstream Aircraft Worth $1 Billion

The national carrier of the State of Qatar, placed an order for 18 Gulfstream aircraft worth over $1 billion. For 14 Gulfstream G650ER and four Gulfstream G500.

Qatar Airways currently operates a fleet of 18 rivate jets, including six Gulfstream G650ERs, four Gulfstream G500s, three Bombardier Challenger 605s, four Global 5000s and one Global XRS. With the recent order the size of the fleet will grow twice.

Qatar Executive has been a Gulfstream customer since October 2014. Now the two companies have managed to break a mutual world’s record.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Qatar Executive (QE), together with the One More Orbit team set a new world circumnavigation speed record time of 46 hours and 40 minutes in its mission to fly Pole to Pole in under 48 hours.

The flight was performed on Gulfstream G650ER. The world record – a first for Qatar Executive – will be certified by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) and GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™.
