BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
They should start a series of 1000 ways to waste away a million dollars Because bored business men will never fall short of finding ways of wasting away that shit What a silly book.
Yet another supposed Dominant who has no clue. If you are really into BDSM and understand the power exchange, don't bother.
And now for the rest of the review: If you want to read short stories that should be expanded to be real books, this would be yet another for you to read. This is yet another short story, packaged up by the author and sold as a full story or at the very least a story that is the first in a series.
I think a lot of people have been down this road before. First, she demands that her ARC team review everything with five stars, or she tells them not to review at all (I remember the emails that drove me away from her ARC team). That defeats the purpose of reviews. She writes juvenile stories that are more like soft porn with little plot, and no character development. I was a huge fan of her Mr. Black series until Book 4 when it became obvious that at least four of the books could be combined into one and make it far more satisfying to the reader (but wouldn't make the author all that much money, which is what Charlotte Byrd is after).
In the case of this book, it is a cliffhanger, and does not tell you that. I know a lot of other authors who write a series of books and each is a stand alone, giving the reader an opportunity to enjoy a FULL book without having to buy more to find out what happens. Sorry, but a lot of people don't like this, especially the part about not saying its a cliffhanger in the blurb. Me? I'm thoroughly disgusted by what sounds like a book written by a teenager, and certainly not by an adult who has worked on their craft and understands it.
My advice? Learn to write a book with proper characterization and plotting, up your game and write an "adult" heroine who isn't scared into situations that are full of drama and nothing else.
This was basically a short story. It was incomplete and very rushed. Everything in this book should've been the introductory chapters. Unfortunately, now I'm down five bucks and bored.
My thanks to the Author for the chance to read this book for free via Amazon.
This was an easy read. It's very similar in many ways to lots of other stories in the genre. I gave this a 2 stars or 4/10.
Tell Me to Stop is the first in the Tell Me series of which there are 6 books. I doubt that I'll be reading the others in the series. The story draws you in, but yet it didn't really deliver enough to make me want to read the others.
I feel that the dominant male, wasn't dominant enough and if I am honest I feel that the genre has been done to death. However, it doesn't mean to say that they won't sell or be read it's just my personal opinion.
Excerpt
'I look through my library trying to find something else to read. Eventually, I turn to another one of my favorites. It's by Charlotte Byrd, one of my favorite writes, and it's a lot darker in tone. Ellie goes to an exclusive yacht party and decides to participate in an auction where she has to spend the night with one of the eligible bachelors.'
Please note that I have used the spelling of words as per the story, as it's written in American English and is not a spelling mistake as per the English use of English.
Am I the only one who finds it a little weird, that an Author writing this story mentions herself as an Author that one of the characters enjoys reading and is even one of her favourite writers?
Dear Author, To me writing a book and then selling it in pieces is dishonest. There is No way the book I purchased was a complete story. OMG! REALLY THIS ISN'T A SERIES. U BASICALLY BROKE THE BOOK UP INTO SECTIONS AND IT SHOWS! NO THANKS I WON'T BE BUYING A BOOK SOLD PIECES. Why not just sell the book at the price you want to. Ugh! Also, the first book was just ok. Nothing that would make me purchase another few chapters of the same book.
I made the mistake of reading Shades of Grey the summer everyone was talking about it, and found it painfully amateurish and creepily disturbing. This is so bad, it makes that travesty seem like a masterpiece. This just jumps around inexplicably, has an asinine premise and unlikable characters all around, and doesn't even fucking end. Only gets one star because I couldn't rant about this waste of time without one.
That had to be the dumbest intro book ever. The story had absolutely nothing to do with the supposed couple. But more about how dumb Olive is. Nothing happened! Nothing! Ugh!
I can not even believe how shitty this book is. The mother needs to be thrown off of a balcony! The main character is annoying and I can’t even believe she would consider becoming a prostitute when she was in high school to pay off her debt. There are plenty ways to do that. Nicholas is a piece of shit for saying that she owed his dead sister by fucking him for money! Just awful man. And Sydney seems like a bimbo! Just horrible. NEXT!

Grrrrr. No. Just NO. What the ever living frick is this book??? Skimmed through about 60% of it because it was boring and completely ridiculous. The bulk of the story is about her mother. And she has minimal interaction with this mystery guy, not enough to show any relationship or chemistry. A bad bad rip off of indecent proposal, 50 shades and probably a few other stories.
This book felt far too rushed. I didn’t get a connection with or evolve any empathy towards any of the characters, had basically no context to help me understand their decision making and felt like things happened so quickly that I before I knew it, the book was finished! An easy read but for me, for the wrong reasons.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. This is the first time that I have read a book by this author, but it won't be the last, well because for one this is book one and I need to know what happens between Nicholas and Olive 😍 I really enjoyed the start of this book and how it draws you in. Olive receives a cheque through the post from a mystery benefactor, it's for the exact amount to pay off her student loans. The BIG question does she use it or not? What does the mystery person want from her? Well she will soon learn who it is when a ticket to Hawaii arrives, with an invite to meet. She goes and meets up with Nicholas and he has an offer for her, let's just say she's not happy with the proposal and hightails it out of there. Also Olive has a room mate Sydney, who went with her to Hawaii and stayed as she met someone, James, and wanted to stay with him for the rest of the week. There is also the family dysfunction that Olive has with her mum that is examined throughout the book. So let me just say that there is a lot of things going on in the book, twists and turns, that keep you on reading well into the small hours of the night. I'd definitely recommend this book.
Nice easy read, the first of a series. The plot line is interesting and sends us on a few twists. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the conversations flowed easily.
I feel like I wasted my time reading this book. The story is totally fast paced and I wasn't even able to get into the story. It was like a short story, it started and just ended. I wasn't able to relate to the story. It felt like the whole book is just an introductory chapter.
The plot of the story is totally absurd. Few over the top dramatic scenes were added to make the story interesting. The story is very predictable but you'll find yourself going through pages in which scenes were just created to give the story a sophisticated feel, those scenes felt like they were dropped out of nowhere.
The characters were poorly developed. Olivia's mother told her that she is fat and ugly, other than that there was nothing written to create her image.
I hated the scene were Olivia meets N. C for the first time because almost one fourth of the book created the suspense for him and it was dissolved in a second, and I was like, Wait! What does he look like? After reading the whole book, I'm still unaware about how does the main characters of the book look like. At many points I would have loved more description, but unfortunately I didn't get that.
The only thing I liked in the story was the tiny bit of suspense at the starting of the book. Gradually even that was spoiled. There were few swoon worthy scene that made me fall in love with N.C. So I'm going to read its second book and give this series another chance.
Whether you enjoy Tell Me To Stop will depend heavily on your preference. If you like billionaire's romance than you might like this book too.
This was a good read. Olive is like most people and just trying to pay off her debts. She receives a check for a lot of money. Of course she is skeptical at first but eventually she finds out that it is real. However, there is a catch. With everything her mom puts her through it changes things. It will be interesting to see how it will all go in the next part of their story.
Would not recommend even if it was kindle unlimited...very disappointing that I actually paid for this book. Main character was boring and annoying and the male lead was just as annoying!
It doesn't live up to the summary of the book. The build up is slow. There is no character development of the male antagonist. The plot could've been great.
This was highly rated on the Google Books free books, and seemed semi-interesting. However, as the adage goes, you get what you pay for...
The main character, Olivia, is not at all likeable for several reasons. She is a hard worker, but supports her leech mother that is constantly in trouble for petty things. Also, Olivia is in a ton of debt, which although relatable, the storyline that follows is so far fetched that I couldn't enjoy the fantasy getaway the author tried to concoct.
Olivia has a roommate Sydney, who is affluent and could be compared to a ditsy Kardashian type. Unassuming Olivia receives a check for the exact amount of all of her debt that comes with only the string to fly out to an undisclosed place and meet with someone she doesn't know. Ironically, Sydney figures this out and flys out with Olivia to see that she stays safe on the journey. While in Maui, Olivia meets the man who gave her hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay off her loans and asks her to stay with him and be a "business partner" for one year for a million dollars. When asked why he would do this, he retells this story about a longtime friend, Ashley, who Olivia was close with. Ashley commited suicide and her dying wish was for him to do good in the world, which equated to helping Olivia. This is such a ridiculous premise that I cannot even fathom.
Unfortunately, Olivia says no to Nicholas' proposal and rushes to leave Maui. Upon arriving back home in Boston, she finds out her mother is totally screwed and indebted to a madam in the amount of $50,000. Obviously, we already know how this is going to play out.
By the end, Olivia takes Nicholas up on his offer and the novel ends. The last ten pages was the only redeeming quality of the novel, but of course, because this would lure you in to buy the remainder of the series.
I wouldn't recommend this book because it was way too far fetched and all over the place from the weirdly placed flashforward and flashback, unlikeable protagonist, mystery man who has a weird request, and a mother constantly in toil making the novel an overall unenjoyable read. The only reason the novel received a 2/5 for me is because of the last ten pages.
