My closest friends are all in family mode. It's like a constant alarm on their biological clocks that won't stop ringing until an army of kids surrounds us all. Being the wives of rock stars, dealing with the spotlight, tours, and balancing time with their husbands, they have a lot on their plates. Whereas my only concern is when Gabe will be home from managing the bar.
Everyone keeps asking when we’re going to start trying. Our family. Our friends. At least my husband hasn’t joined in, but I see the look in his eyes every time someone says they’re pregnant.
He wants to start but I’m content on just practicing until the time is right.
Unfortunately, nothing ever works out the way you plan.
Reading is a passion of mine. My love for the written word was rekindled a few years ago, and it's been a blessing to discover everything that is out there. I love a good romantic book, one filled with swoon-worthy heroes and the women who drive them crazy. There aren't too many genres I won't read (sorry horror and scary stories, you still give me nightmares). As long as it drags me into the world to live alongside the characters, I want it!
I've been married since December 2000 to my best friend. Yes we were young, yes people thought I was crazy, but when you know, you know. We had one of those insta-love relationships where we fell hard and never looked back. We have 4 beautiful daughters who drive us a little batty but we still love them!
Ever since I was little, I dabbled in writing, starting with Fanfic of Sweet Valley High (Yes, Jessica and Elizabeth needed some new adventures). In Seventh Grade my teacher submitted a poem I wrote to a national contest and was published in an anthology. I was afraid to turn it in because I never thought I had a chance and yet, it was picked. Writing stories had always been an escape of mine, something to lose myself into or rewrite a bad experience I had to give it a better outcome. There's a little bit of me put into my books so I'm always emotionally attached to them.
The perfect ending to an amazing series! Sweet, funny, and like coming home Little Lullaby is everything a fan of the Lightning Strikes series needs to say goodbye to these characters.
So I’ve only read books one and four of this series but it doesn’t matter because this novella is a standalone! (Which is good because it’s been FOREVER since I’ve read them! 😂)
This is a cute and quick read that follows the pregnancy of Quinn with her hubby, Gabe. It’s not my favorite of the series but it was good. Kept my attention (which was tough at the time because HOLY BOOK SLUMP, BATMAN!) so that’s a big win! 😂
5 Ovary Exploding Electrified Guitars for Little Lullaby
This is the most fun, quick, little read for anyone who's had a kid. And a great read for those currently pregnant. I seriously needed more books like this a hundred years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest. And my oldest too, for that matter. But especially after #1, you've had all you can take of freaking out over everything that isn't in What to Expect When an Alien has Taken Over Your Mind and Body. Especially the latter. Because the former is already gone. Maybe a hundred is exaggerating a bit, but I most definitely could have used this 17 years ago when I was on bedrest with the youngest spawn. Did this ever bring back memories. It's hilarious, it's sarcastic, it's real. And it has the added bonus of peeks in at the entire Lightning Strikes crew. I'm sure my husband is thankful that revisiting this particular stage in our lives has past, but it really is a fun read. It's been a while since I have visited the Lightning Strikes world, and I think I will do that reread I said I was going to do before jumping into this one, but the release date snuck up on me and I couldn't resist diving in. I quickly remembered all I needed to in order to feel back in the swing, and I suppose it could easily be read as a standalone, but, really, where's the fun in that? It's a great series that deserves delving into.
Added bonus - it's the only rockstar romance set in my favorite city (and home, Kansas City) that I'm aware of. It also made me realize that I haven't been to Worlds of Fun in too many years - a strange feeling to be nostalgic for a place less than 10 miles away from where I was sitting reading this, but I digress.
Bottom line, an absolutely hilarious, baby centric, rockstar adjacent, totally worth the read and I still want more kinda book. I adored it, even if I may be a bit past the target age/stage of the general audience. I don't think I can truly express how happy I am that Ms. Larson decided to revisit this series, and I truly hope there will be at least a couple more novellas down the road to keep us updated on the ever expanding Lightning Strikes family. I especially want to see how the dads of girls handle their little princesses hitting the dating age, but I don't want that much time to elapse before we see them again.
I absolutely loved this series and am so sad that its finished but this was the perfect ending. I loved Quinn in every single book and it was amazing getting to read something from her (and Gabe’s) point of view. Gwen is such an amazing character. Unabashedly herself, she says what she wants when she wants. She also loves with everything she has. She and Gabe are rock solid but she is quite ready to start of family yet but as it happens life has a different plan for her. Not only is she pregnant but it is not a fun pregnancy plagued some difficulties. In the end it’s all worth it. I will miss these characters so much. Definitely a must read series.
This one is crazy amazing. I just loved it knowing who they are and to see this part was just plainly amazing, every detail and glimpses from past couples may my day and made fall in love even more with it. Definitely a must read.
This was a fun little novella. I have always loved Quinn and her spunkiness. It was fun seeing her crazy side and getting to see her soft side as well. Gabe is definitely the calm to her crazy. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and made for some fun reading.
