Ankenman is a new to me author and from the moment I started this book I could not put it down finishing it in 1 sitting.

Finn and Pru have been friends forever; when they have 1 night together it results in a dream come true for Pru, starting the family she has dreamed of even going at it as a single parent. She has a plan and she doesn’t need anyone to help, Finn was not prepared to be told he had fathered his best friends child; but once everything was out in the open, he knew he wanted it all including Pru and his baby.

I personally really enjoyed reading this book, I always love a surprise baby that brings people together. Ankenman has written an easy to read, funny love story that will have you wanting more.

I really enjoyed this one. I would recommend it to anyone needing a palate cleanser or in a book slump. It was fun and sexy, with great characters, a good light story and very well written. Pru was no-nonsense but witty and funny. She has decided it’s time to take charge and go for what she wants. And that’s a baby. Due to some fertility worries, sooner is very much better than later, and she doesn’t have time to wait around for her “mythological” ONE. So as the practical and thoughtful person she is, she informs the people closest to her that she has started the process of fertility treatment and is choosing a donor. One of those close people is her best friend Finn. Finn is a firefighter who has decided to forgo the wife and kids thing, so as to never put anyone through the worry and possible heartbreak of loving someone in his profession. Finn being the awesome friend that he is, is completely supportive and encourages her to celebrate this amazing new chapter of her life. Aaand that’s when things get a little twisted around. A couple of shots and some cute as hell playfulness later, and they have somehow decided to test each other out in bed. Which, of course, turns out to be phenomenal, if a smidge weird the next day. But they carry on. Until Pru heads into the clinic a few weeks later to choose her donor, only to be told she’s already pregnant. Oops! They forgot to wrap it, and surprise surprise, fertility drugs work. All Pru’s careful planning has been shaken up. (Yes, every parent ever can laugh, and no doubt will). And it just keeps happening.
While things definitely got complicated and stressful, the story doesn’t get overly angsty. You definitely feel for these characters and all the curveballs being thrown at them. And little people tend to make me teary, so the ending had me suddenly needing to blink a lot.
You just couldn’t not enjoy this book.

You know you love a book when you start and finish it in less than 24 hours. I couldn't get enough of Finn and Pru, the main characters in The Best Friend Problem. The best friends have one night of passion, which leads to Pru getting pregnant. It was a joy to read along as they attempt to navigate their new relationship (steamy scenes included). I also really like Ankenman's writing style and the fact there weren't too many characters involved. If you're a fan of Christina Lauren or Sally Thorne, read The Best Friend Problem immediately!

This is the first thing I have read by Mariah Ankenman and I found it because of TikTok of all things! I am so glad I stumbled onto her TikTok and videos about this book. It was amazing. I love friends to lovers tropes and this was very well done. Pru and Finn have been friends forever with both denying the fact there was anything other then friendship between them. When Pru decides to have a baby and be a single mother the lat thing she expects if a drunken night with Finn to change her plans. I love the relationship between Pru and her roommates. I was surprised to find they each get books too, so I had go by them as well. The Best Friend Problem was a cute fast read that had me laughing or biting my lip at different times. Can’t wait to see what else Mariah Ankenman has in store.

I really enjoyed this book!!!
Prudence really wants a baby and has decided enough is enough she is going to do this by herself. Finn on the other hand has no room for babies or a wife in his life due to work responsibilities. After one drunken night Prudence finds herself pregnant with none other than Finn's baby.

This book is sooo sweet. Finn is the perfect gentleman towards Prudence while also dealing with his own feelings. Prudence needs to come to terms that her "single parenting" plan now has her best friend Finn in the mix.

I really enjoyed this book, however there were one or two inconsistencies. One big example is in chapter one Prudence is very passionate about what a massive waste of money motorcycles are. She states she enjoys them however is terrified of them "if she wasn't so terrified of crashing every second she rode this thing..." She then goes on to explain doctors call them "donor mobiles". In chapter ten, Prudence's attitude and beliefs change. Finn shows up to drive her to the doctor. When he doesn't show up on the motorcycle because she is pregnant Prudence thinks if she knew how to drive one "she assumed it would be perfectly acceptable to ride one until her belly got too big".
Did she not think they were terrifying and "donor mobiles" a few chapters back??
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely be rereading

This book was super cute! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a quick, light hearted romance read.

My only thing is the names! Prudence, Moira, and Finn's middle name is Shakespeare... It's a little much.

Pru is mostly easy to like. Stubborn about doing things on her own but that's explainable by her past. Finn was well written. You can tell he was written by a woman 😏 Firefighter who saves people without a thought for himself, has nightmares if he watches scary movies, and has a Yorkie he calls Bru Baby.

The side characters are likable too. Sweet roomies who always have Pru's back but will also make her face hard truths. I liked the dynamic between everyone.
