Royal Blue
Sovereigns of Savannah #1
By: Megan Lowe

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟.75
I was initially drawn to Royal Blue simply because Savannah is my favorite city. This story is about the politics of high school. Cerulean is the queen bee/ice queen of the school, and it's not a good idea to get on her bad side. This girl is sassy, tough and a force to be reckoned with. She has sisters and feels that it's her job to maintain the status quo for all of them. Enter hot new guy/star quarterback. He is not just a jock, though. Suddenly, Cerulean has this intrusion into her territory, but maybe it's not a bad thing. She's not as perfect as she seems, and neither is he. Sometimes it's better not to go it alone, and surviving high school, even from the top, is difficult. Cerulean has perhaps found an allie instead of an enemy. It's a tale as old as time. The survival of the cafeteria fittest. While I was entertained and enjoyed the story, the premise is not very unique. It's one I've read many times over, but the author puts her own spin on it, and the end result is a fun young adult story. This one is good if you want to be entertained without getting into anything too heavy.

I received a copy of this book from the New Adult Book Club in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own...and unfiltered, haha! Something I'm sure that our heroine-Cerulean Tremont, herself-would appreciate. This is my first book from the author; however, the enemies-to-lovers trope is without question one of my absolute favorites. And one that is being touted as a 'high school bully romance', well, I guess any of you that follow my reviews are not surprised that I picked this one up. That being said, I'm a tough sell sometimes. I'm well aware of this. I've also been going through a horrible book slump. I'd hoped that this one would kick my reading mojo back into high gear.

No spoilers...no spoilers. Sorry, just not going there. So it is a bit more difficult writing a review for this book than it would be normally, just because I don't want to overshare. Ms. Lowe may be a new-to-me author, but she's definitely one I would consider reading again. She's got a unique voice in her prose that I enjoyed. I did struggle a little, because it felt a bit...too much...sometimes. It almost seemed a bit extra was thrown in that didn't necessarily have to be, but then again, as this will be the first of four interconnected novels, maybe that was the author's intention. Not a cliffy...no worries about that.

"We bow to no one." Yasss, girl, yasss! 3.75 stars.

I thought this book was good. Throughout the book there were a few phrases that were repeated multiple times where I felt that they did not need to be there. The characters were very likable and I think the drug addiction was handled well. I wish that TK had more of a punishment than he got, almost like he was left hanging. I also thought the ending was a little rushed and that Cerulean did not get the consequences of her drug use and there was no intervention with her and make her go get clean and the tools to stay clean (just my opinion). Overall, still a sweet love story!

Five stars for Cerulean and Harley 💖💖💖!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book I've read by Megan Lowe and I really loved it.

"Royal Blue" is much more than dark bully high school and football romance.

I can't describe to you how much I've enjoyed reading this book. I loved everything about this book, the characters, a storyline and of course Megan's writing style.

I can't wait to read more books from this author 😍!

If you're looking for YA book which is different from books you're usually reading, then you should read this book!

I received a copy of this book from the New Adult Book Club in exchange for an honest review.

Royal Blue was a story about triumphs, tribulations, and all the moments in between. Harley St. James is the new kid at school and his father is the principal. He’s a football superstar and has his sights set on the “unattainable” Cerulean Tremont.

Cerulean rules Forest Park Academy and has since she stepped foot in the building. Between her and her three sisters, the Tremont girls are a force to be reckoned with.

Despite Cerulean’s insistence that she doesn’t need a man in her life, she and Harley hit it off, albeit with a rough start. This story is unlike most high school romances in the sense that it deals with real problems facing youth rather than just the simple, stupid dramas in most HS novels.

Although there were some moments I had a little trouble getting into, I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I need to hear about Magenta’s story next.

Warning: the steaminess in this book is off the charts so read with caution 🔥

So I absolutely love Megan and her books and was so excited for this new series!!! Especially when I read the blurb and was like I cannot wait!!! And lord have mercy I devoured this book in one sitting and it's not a short book at all. But I just couldn't stop reading. I fell in head first and needed to know what happened and all when, why and how's of everything. And now I'm in a book hangover and wanting the next book!!! Cerulean and her sisters are so misunderstood but I love how they are still respected. And Harley omg I love him!!! And how he is with everyone is just so amazing and we all need a Harley in our lives!!! This is so much more than a high school football romance. It is how sometimes as parents we can put too much pressure on our children thinking that even though they are so close to being an adult but we need to remember they aren't. How one incident can spiral and cause more than one person pain. And that sometimes we all need just a little help. This book is a deep emotional experience and I highly highly recommend it!!! And I wish I could give it so much more than 5 stars!!!! - By Tina

Cerulean Tremont is the de facto leader in her family. Her mother and father are rarely ever present, which leaves their four daughters to basically raise themselves. Cerulean is the leader not only within her own family, but within the school as well. She is used to being the one in charge and takes her position of responsibility very seriously. So, much so that she works herself into a frenzy and is carrying the weight of it all on her shoulders.

Harley has just moved to Georgia with the goal of getting exposure to football recruiters and pursuing his dream of playing in college. He's the quarterback and is used to calling the plays on and off the field. He's not sure how to react when Cerulean doesn't bow to his demands. In fact, she butts heads with him whenever she can. It will be a contest of wills for sure between these two - - and the resulting fireworks will be spectacular.

I enjoyed Royal Blue and look forward to reading the other books in the series since it appears each sister will get her own book.

When I read the blurb, I am intrigue enough to read the book, tbh I'm going blind reading this one plus this is a new author for me, and I fell in love with the author writings, the budding relationship between the MC, and what I love most is how the author convey feminism and a guy who will not try to change you for who you are. I find it so very refreshing then.

“Forest Park Academy is my queendom, and with my sisters by my side you will bend to our will.” Cerulean Tremont

Royal Blue by Megan Lowe is book one in the Sovereign of Savannah Series. The first of four books, this book follows Cerulean Tremont.

I must say that I was very happy with this book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the writing was just superb. The characters were developed and complexed and the story was interesting and kept my attention.

Cerulean Tremont rules Forest Park Academy. With her sisters, she helps keep social class in order and bows to no one. She is strong and fierce, very determined and driven to pave the way that women can be powerful in the world. She’s a perfectionist with her studies and very loyal and protective of her sister. She seems to have no weaknesses… or does she?!?!

Harley St. James is the new guy. He’s the star quarterback and the son of the principal. He’s athletically talented, academically gifted, and extremely drool worthy. When he catches a glimpse of the ice queen herself, he’s done for. Determined to know more about the beautiful blonde with jade green eyes, Harley will go where no high school guy has dared to go before and will stop at nothing to prove that Cerulean is meant to be with him.

I loved that you have this female character that is so strong, yet so flawed. On the outside it looks like she has the world in the palm of her hands but what’s going on inside her head is so complex. I loved the sisterhood that was represented. I loved that this book felt like a true high school setting, where most times it takes place in high school, but you never get that vibe. I love the sports element and you can tell the author did the research or is a sports fan. I loved Harley!!! I just really enjoyed this book.

I highly recommend checking this story out, 4.5 stars!

This book is completely different than any other books that I have read by this author and I don't mean that in a bad way! This was her take on a YA/NA angsty, drama and I LOVED it! It was fun, fast, exciting, and even a little bit naughty...considering the characters were still in high school...The plot was fun, the banter between characters was legit...I could picture the conversations, drama, anger, revenge in my head and it all worked, and the character names were so much fun!

I love that the author used color names for the female characters - I didn't put together that Violet was a part of the family at all (lol) - I enjoyed the take no names - ass kicking female characters that she created and I especially love the surprise twists that she throws in that the reader never sees coming (old loves, absent mothers).

I am already looking forward to the next book in the series and I don't actually care who it is about because I loved them all! I can't wait to see where the author takes the girls next! A must read and a must read now! Add this to your TBR list and move it straight to the top! But be warned that once you start reading this book you won't want to stop! There is no good stopping point because the reader doesn't want to put the book down!

I absolutely loved everything about this book! It was a bully romance-ish, but our bully being a hard as nails beautiful lady made things a bit different. As hard as she is, her love for her family was even more so.

Cerulean had a unique childhood which hardened her outlook and made it so that it was her and her sisters and that was it. The "Hued Hussies" gah, I laughed out loud at that name, is the name for her and her sisters since they all share interesting color names. She does not need anyone and is basically the matriarch for her sisters even though she is not the oldest. All of this changes with Harley, the new QB1, comes into town and decides that he wants her.

This book was freaking perfect. It showed a realness to the characters that you do not always get to see. Megan Lowe did a freaking fantastic job setting up the series and also Cerulean's personality. I adored how everything played out as well and am looking for me. If you like strong women, sweet but cocky main men, and a fantastic story line set in the heart of the South-- you need to read this book asap!!

PS: I would like to thank Megan and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review!

Cerulean has learnt from an early age that it is her and her sisters against the world. She is determined to ensure that not only will she remain in the upper echelon at school but that she is someone you don’t want to cross. She thought she was prepared for anything but that was before Harley came crashing into her world and refuses to leave.

Harley is the perfect package as he is sexy, smart and the star quarterback. From the moment he saw Cerulean he is determined to win her heart and since he has no respect for the hierarchy of the school it becomes game on

I really enjoyed watching the relationship unfold between Harley and Cerulean and look forward to her sister’s stories.

Royal Blue by Megan Lowe
“We bow to no one, 5 stars”

Cerulean Tremont runs the school. She’s the head of the Sovereigns of Savannah and you best not forget it. The only people she needs are her sisters and no one else. And guys like Harley St. James are nothing but a waste of time for girls like her. But what if there is more to him then what meets the eye? Is her actually worth her time and effort?
Harley St. James is new to the school but instantly makes his way to the top thanks to his talents on the football field. When he catches a glimpse of Cerulean he knows its game over. He’s never backed down from a challenge and doesn’t know how to lose, he won’t start now that its Cerulean on the other side of the winner’s circle. Will he be able to convince her he’s worth a shot?
Royal Blue is my first Lowe book and I loved it. I loved how strong the Tremont sisters are without belittling and tearing others down unless needed. Harley is just as strong headed and doesn’t want to change Cerulean, he just wants her to make a little room for him. If you take a chance on Royal Blue, I think you will enjoy these two and the battle they fight. I cannot wait to see what Lowe does with the rest of the series.

Sovereign Rulers

The "Hued Hussies" run Forest Park Academy. Four sisters, four personalities, 4 histories tied to each. Cerulean is one that keeps the four running like an oiled machine. When the new star quarterback entered her school, she sensed the tides might change. This was a story highlighting the drama of high school, determination and goals and finding your path. Individually Cerulean and Harley are struggling, together they excel. Underneath all of the drama, they both find an everlasting love. This was a good read that sucked me in from the beginning. The female leads are strong and sassy and most of the men their complement.

What a way to begin with a new to me author. This was a great intro into this author's work for me. I absolutely enjoyed it. The characters are complex and well-written, if not a little frustrating at times, but I loved them. The storyline is intriguing and I was more than interested in finding out what would happen. I definitely look forward to reading more in this series and to reading more of this author's work.

Cerulean Tremont is my new favorite female lead! and can we talk about her name?! I love it! Her and her sisters are the right kind of sassy. I loved this book so much! Every page held new and funny one liners. I loved the quick pace and the dynamic between her and sisters is amazing!!! I need more as soon as possible! What happens next? who is next? So many questions! If you like the bully or enemies to lovers trope this story is definitely for you!

I was given a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest personal review.

I enjoyed this book, however I did struggle at the start and I think it's because I actually didn't like the main character Cerulean - at first! I did warm to her towards the end of the book. I found the names very hard to digest too, I liked the theme which was colours but rolling them round in my head felt all wrong. I also found it hard to understand why these girls were abandoned as they were and the mothers excuse for her leaving very poor, I would of like the author to have explored and explained this better.

The story was good and I absolutely loved Harley. Every girl needs a Harley.

There were elements of this book I really loved such as the relationship between Violet & Leroy, and Violet and Harley, but others I struggled with. Indigo-for such a together tight quad of sister she didn't seem to fit in.
It is worth a read and with some tweaking I think it would be 5 stars, but for me it's a solid 3.

** Warning Mature content and talk of sexual abuse**

Well this book is definitely not what I expected. Let me tell you, it was refreshing. This book mainly focuses on the female character Cerulean. Oh my goodness you would think that she is the bully but she is not. She is the embodiment of what women strive to be. She is strong, independent and determined. She had to grow up as a teenager. While doing this she takes all the responsibilities of adulthood onto herself. She will do anything for her sisters and family. However, Harley St. James just moves into town and now Cerulean has met her match. So here we have an almost cat and mouse game going on. Harley sees something in Cerulean that sets him on fire. They have a chemistry that just gets hotter and hotter. Unfortunately, Cerulean is just set on her on path to destruction and then things just starts to fall apart. So what happens? That you will need to read to find out. I will say that I teared up because of how much I understood Cerulean. I was not prepared for all the emotions that I would go through while reading this book. I loved how the role was reversed and the female mc was the one that was troubled. This is definitely worth the read.

This book is about Cerulean and Harley. Cerulean, along with her sisters Indigo, Magenta and Vermillion, ruled Forest Park Academy. Harley is the new football quarterback that everyone expects to lead the football team to a state championship. Cerulean was not easy to like at the beginning of the book and it took her a while to work through her issues. She was helped along by Harley. Harley was sweet, giving, patient, kind, and hot. A perfect book boyfriend. The book left a lot of unanswered questions and could have been fleshed out more. The writing could have been tightened up a bit but the writing was decent. All in all it was a great story. Now for my main complaint and it could just be my own personal peeve. I hate the endearment “baby doll”. It was used just shy of 40 times! Honestly, there were several times it almost made me want to not finish. I hesitate to make that complaint but it is a really big part of my review and I realize its a personal thing, so please give this book a try if that term doesn’t bother you as much as it does me. I received this book for an honest review from NABC.

Megan has always had a fantastic voice for YA, and a love of sports, so her first foray into YA, which focuses on a high school quarterback worming his way into the heart of the school's ice queen, is a match made in sports heaven.

There's so much that gets tackled (hahahaha, get it?) in this book: high school cliques, high school love, family dynamics (particularly dysfunction), drug use, jerky boys who think the world owes them something for existing, elitist privilege, and even a touch of civil rights history. There's a lot going on, and admittedly, it can be a bit slow to start, but stick with it.

Let's just put it this way... I'm not shy about my "I hate YA" stance, because, let's face it, I hated high school and the idea about reading about angsty teenagers is about as exciting to me as a root canal without Novocaine, but once this one got going, I found myself really wanting to get back to it to see where it was going to go next. I got vested in these characters (even if I did want to slap a couple of them around a time or two). No Novocaine necessary.

Love/Hate with the female lead

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one because the main characters are in high school and I almost immediately hated the female lead. But I think that was a little bit of the point. To make the audience hate Cerulean initially but learn to love her throughout her evolution.

This book was amazing. I’ve never read a book by this author before. What a book to start with.

Love the story and the characters. It’s has everything you need and want in a book.

I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us.

Really good book. The plot of the story is what kept me reading. The main female character kind of pissed me off here and there. Harvey is such a sweetheart I know if I was him I wouldn't want to put my future in jeopardy especially for someone who has been denying me since the beginning.

I loved this book. I love how this book triggered several emotions from me. Cerulean takes the responsibility of everything for her sisters. Harley is the new quarterback for Forest Park Academy and his dad is the new Principal. Cerulean and her sisters Indigo, Magenta, Vermilion are “The Sovereigns of Savannah”. Cerulean sister Vermilion is a pianist and her teacher is a major asshole. He berates her and Vermilion sisters always stay with her during the lesson. Magenta has a daughter Emily and she had to repeat her junior year. Indigo is the fun outgoing sister. Cerulean has a dream and no boy will stop her but Harley breaks her walls down. I’m excited to get the next book in the series. Also, I’m not the biggest fan of the color names. I highly recommend this book.
