T.L. Smith doesn't disappoint, that's one thing for sure. With Playette she delivers merciless another fantastic dark romance that will test your boundaries.
"I'm a good girl, but I'll be bad for you."
Issy is one hell of a strong heroine. Wow. This woman has sass, power, self-confidence and courage all the while being fearless and looking like every men's wet dream. Her mission is driven by hate but her heart is not as dark and hard as she might have thought. Lucky for Jasper, that Issy's heart has a soft spot.
"She feels like everything I have ever wanted. She's the place you dream of moving to. She is my place."
Jasper is an easy to love bad boy mafia boss. Made by his past and upbringing, yet he managed to stay true to himself and turn things around. Never being on the receiving end of true and honest love yet his protective walls are still no match to the fresh air that Issy brings into his life.
"No. I've never done anything slow, and I don't plan to do you slow either."
Jasper and Issy are a power couple within the mafia world that you don't want to miss. She's his fire and he's her fuel. A perfect match that was bound to happen.

This is the DUMBEST MAFIA BOOK I have EVER read and that says a lot. I've read some pretty bad mafia books that overuse the word, "Whack" and "How you doin'", trust me.
I had such high hopes for this book. The cover was nice, the story line was extremely interesting and the first sample I read grabbed my attention and again, I liked the story line. Revenge on a mafia family knowing you might die, that’s intense.
What I got in return? RIDICULOUS MAFIA UNREALISTIC BULLSHIT.
I know not all Mafia romance stories are going to be to the T realistic, I get that. In the real world, Mafia men are cruel. Some love, some don’t.
But this story takes the cake.
So get this.
The heroine kills the mafia leaders’ main men. I’m not talking about some pawns that are used to guard the house or they are security. No, they are the leaders' main guys that watch his back, report to him, all that. Right hand men, if you will.
Mafia leader, Jasper, says wahhhh she killed my most important men, 3 to be exact but I don’t care because even though I said I can’t love and I’m soooo fucked up, I love the heroine therefore she can get away with anything even though I’ve only known her for 5 fucking minutes.
The fuck? Get out of here. She should’ve been killed off the back for killing his main guys. Come ON.
THEN. On a second trip to the house, she talks to some strangers in the leaders' house and they showed NO loyalty to Jasper. They leaked information to her left and right, no hesitation or worry. She asks one of Jaspers’ main men about his life, his family.
Instead of saying, none of your fucking business or hey, I can’t release all that information, that’s my boss. They spill it out without the slightest worry. They just give this chick information on Jasper after they know of the heroine, I shit you not, for maybe a few days. Again, COME THE FUCK ON.
There’s one scene where one of his CLOSE men follows the heroines orders, (They’ve only known her at this point for maybe 2 weeks if even that) because he doesn’t want to die, and does as she says, completely dropping all loyalty to Jasper and driving wherever the heroine wants to go.
What kind of fuckery is that?
The sex was boring as fuck, the heroine goes on and on about how she loves sex, she’s fucked so many men and she loves using her body against men. SHOCKER.
TWO MEN DIE while the heroine is at their mansion, and they look over that fact, wondering:
wHo CoUlD hAvE kIlLeD tHe GuYs?
They don’t look at the heroine, they just assume it’s a snake within their own group.
You’re telling me, they have the SAME PEOPLE OVER AT THE HOUSE, PARTY IT UP AND DO THEIR THING, NO ONE DIES, Mafia men who kill left and right, who know of all bullshit death tricks and rats, don’t find it odd that two men die the same time the new girl (heroine) visits the house? Are you fucking kidding me?

Jasper, the fearless ruler and ruthless killer, keeps his mommy around (even though he can’t love), despite beating him and torturing him growing up, because he LOVES HER? PLEASEEEEEE!!!
The way they talk was so fucking inconsistent as well.
First, they’re talking normal. “What’s up dude, nothing much man”
Then they switch to, “Such a pity, such a shame we had to kill this one,” I get the verbiage for theatrical purposes to enhance how “articulate” the characters MUST be since they’re just oh so evil and wise beyond their years, but fuck. Keep it consistent. Jesus.
I rolled my eyes so many times throughout this book, I wanted to stop reading. Which I did. Couldn’t finish past 85% because let me guess. Heroine gets away with everything, hero is in love with her after knowing her for a short period of time, he’s so scary yet turns into a pussy because of heroine and disregards all of his duties and promises to the family.
If you’re looking for a sappy, shitty mafia romance that’s unrealistic and focuses on how in love two characters are despite their own principles, this is the book for you.
$4.00 on Amazon? Waste of money. $4.00 is a lot when you continuously purchase books in an attempt to support upcoming authors however this… Such a disappointment. Skip this shit and go find a mafia book where the Author actually does some research about how crime families function instead of writing how "scary, evil" men lose all focus over a piece of pussy.

Playette is the story of Isadora (Izzy) Marine and she has only one mission in life - avenging her family. Eight years ago, when Izzy was 14, she watched her family gunned down viciously by the Moretti crime family and for eight years she has dreamed and readied herself with her uncle's help to put herself in a position to take down each member involved on that fateful day.
"There are nine members of the Italian Mafia who walked into my parents’ little shop that day and killed them. Each one of them had a tattoo between their thumb and index finger—a skull inked in red."
To say she is single minded is an understatement. To gain access, she works as a cocktail waitress at a strip club they own and sometimes frequent, has no life, friends or interests outside of that and has single mindedly shaped herself into just the type of woman they won't be able to pass over when they finally come in.
"This body has been trained and perfected to be a man’s dream from the fake boobs to the fake eyelashes, lip fillers, and cheek fillers. You name it I’ve got it. I am a walking, talking, perfect little plaything."
When three of the men from the family finally come in, Izzy is primed and ready, and immediately hits their radar and from their she starts a very dangerous game of executing her plans to knock off each member one by one. She realizes it may be a suicide mission but her love for her family and what she's lost makes it so that she hardly cares.
"These are the men who murdered my family, and tonight, I’m going to take one of them to the grave as retribution."
But as Izzy works her way through the list, she also has a first time reaction to a mysterious man who hangs outside the club but never enters. From first sight Izzy is intrigued and to say their attraction to each other is palpable would be an understatement..
"Now, if I wasn’t a woman on a mission, I would absolutely stay because what I see is one fine specimen of a man. He’s not your average looking man. No, not at all. He has a scar just above his lip, his short hair is a medium blond, and he’s dressed in a high-end suit. His cheekbones are sharp and strong, and his lips are more than a little kissable."
As time goes on, Izzy stays true to infiltrating the Moretti crime family's house via their late night parties but her outdoor run ins in the shadows with mystery man just make her more attracted and fascinated by him and things slowly turn sexual between them. That is, until Izzy realizes with more than a little fear and horror that the man that's pulled her in is not only part of the Moretti family but he's the boss of the whole damn thing, Jasper.
Jasper is a cool customer indeed. He rules by logic, not emotion. Noting ruffles him and killing doesn't make him pause for a second, even if it's one that he loves. To add to that, Jasper can smell people out without even trying and that puts Izzy even at more danger. Several of his men have already died by her hand and yet she still dances a dangerous dance with Jasper, attracted to him at the very same time she plans to kill him. It's a game of life and death she indulges in and although Jasper can't put his finger on her yet, he's determined to find out what is off behind that perfect facade.
"“I haven’t quite worked you out yet, Isadora. But I will. And while I’m doing so, you’re not allowed to fuck any of my men. Do you understand?”
From there the rest of the book sways back and forth between her deepening involvement with Jasper and her list of men to kill. This is labeled a mafia book which I almost always dig but when I first came off of it, I wasn't quite sure what I thought as the formula was different than most mafia books I read. I'm used to the action the guys all take and rivalries and all that other good stuff. This book threw me for a loop a little because it didn't revolve around that formula, this was a book where the violence had already taken place years ago and a very strong heroine literally is ready to go on a suicide mission to snuff out this crime family. It was also a mindtrip and a tight rope with Jasper and Isadora and how that story took place simultaneously when he was the head of the very family she was seeking revenge on.
The story seems to start out simple enough. The avenging angel with one clean cut mission. But as things progress, nothing is as simple as it seems and those you believe have been the most truthful turn out to be the manipulators and deceptors. Not only does Izzy come to find things that shock her and rock her world but through the process, Jasper too comes to see his share of crazy and realises how twisted and screwed the whole scenario is.
That's when the good old murder, violence, betrayal and all things mafia kind of picks up speed and the story goes on a crazy train ride. Turns out Jasper and Izzy are tied together by secrets and plots made before their time and the story takes a turn into good old fashioned mafia land with Jasper being a BOSS and Izzy coming to the startling revelation of the truth.
Took me some days to getting around to reviewing but looking back at it and remembering the ride from beginning to end, there was actually more to it then I originally took in and more twists then I first fathomed. So I'm giving this one a solid **** stars just for breaking the mold a bit and throwing me some twists I just didn't see coming. As for Jasper, I really loved that cold hearted prick and I loved the way he turned out!
4 avenging Stars for two unlikely lovers and a little cray cray thrown into the mix!

Wow!
That was an intense book and completely not what I was expecting!
It was sexy, hot, heart racing and jaw dropping.
This book is all about Isadora who is seeking vengeance. Isadora is my kind of heroine, a kick ass woman who knows her own mind. But what happens when Jasper, the devil himself gets in her way?
If you like fast paced, intense romances with a twist then Playette is for you!

I read PLAYETTE in one sitting, to say I crave T.L Smith's words is an understatement, she always feeds every one of my cravings when I want a dark, angsty romance leaving me well and truly satisfied.
PLAYETTE was just what I needed, I loved the angst, the, on the edge plot, the suspense, twists and turns.
VENGEANCE its a dangerous game and since the loss of her parents Issy has been trained and perfected by her uncle to have revenge, she's a manipulator, a player, a sex kitten, she will be anything she needs to be to take out the men who killed her parents. THE MORETTI MAFIA, not a small feat to take down the mafia but Issy has a plan in place. Issy works at a strip joint, a place owned by the Moretti family, she is biding her time, waiting, watching. Isadora Marine is bad-ass, fearless, a strong and sexy heroine.
Jasper is the head of the mafia family, he likes the game, the chase, he's cunning and cruel to those who cross him, he knows Issy has a hidden agenda but he can't help but still be attracted to her. Jasper may be a dangerous person to cross but you can't help but let him into your heart and his Mafia brothers Ace and Carter, the twists and turns begin to unravel and you get more of an insight into the real Man behind the Moretti mafia.
Jasper and Issy's chemistry is off the charts, it's hot, its full of suspense and unpredictability, it was gripping and intense and this is why I could not put this book down!.
I loved it, another gripping Mafia read by T.L Smith, I want more, I want to see more from this Power couple, I always want more.

So when I first found out that Playette was releasing, I was beyond excited. I’m a sucker for T.L. Smith Mafia/Dark Romances.
Let me tell you if you love mafia romances then this book is for you.
T.L. Smith did not disappoint, she Delivers yet another mafia romance that is going to claw inside your heart and lay down roots. It’s a mafia romance that will test boundaries.
Isadora is one fearless and one strong as hell herione. She is not afraid to grab life by the balls and swing through life on them. This woman shows off self esteem, self confidence and power like a boss. Although Issy is set on a mission, to take action against the darkest men. The Morelli Family.
Issy will do anything to redeem revenge on the Moretti Family after what they had done. In doing so, she will use her most powerful weapon. Her Body.

Después de haber terminado la serie "Mindf*ck" de S.T. Abby que me encanto un montón, me tope con esta novela que también es sobre una mujer que quiere venganza contra los hombres que mataron a su familia, quienes pertenecen a la Mafia.
Pero no me gusto, toda la trama su sucede demasiado rápido, El romance entre Isadora y Jasper no sentí la conexión entre ellos y esque todo es tan forzado, los tipos son de la mafia pero realmente ni lo parecen, me parece estúpido e irónico que siempre se le conozca como el monstruo a el, y si hace cosas malas, mata gente, pero como en todo libro de esta temática, siempre se sabe que no es lo que parece y que se enamora y ya esta, siempres es: no deberías amarme, eres mía, voy a matarte, y blah, blah, el mismo cuento de siempre que ya me se de memoria.
Ahora lo digo, que me pasa comúnmente y esque aunque aveces pueda leer libros similares, no quiere decir que me tenga que gustar siempre, creo que cada autor le da su toque a la novela, este libro simplemente no funciono para mi.

Gosh. I wanted to love this! I really did. Unfortunately too many things were happening and I couldn’t get into it. For example I loved that she tried to make Isadora this bad ass heroine but I also wanted more from her. She wasn’t a well rounded character. Her and jasper barely had ANY sort of chemistry. All I know is that they love to fuck and kill and deaths are surrounding them for no reason at all. Words are being said and no actions or scenes are provoking emotions from me. I just skimmed the entire novel to be honest. Sorry.

Excellent synopsis and first chapter but from there on it was just terrible.
There's no chemistry between her and Jasper. I understand trying to build a strong female lead but she just came across as messy. Jasper's character is even worse than that, a bossy psychopath? His language is that of a teenager. Smh

Ok read.
The story itself was not bad but once again the editing was terrible. I can’t bring myself to rate a book any higher when it has so many issues. I also wonder why none of the reviews I read mentioned editing.
The sentence structure is terrible. You’re and your are not the same and are not interchangeable. I will admit that this is a pet peeve of mine and may not bother most readers. There are inconsistencies in the story which a good editor should catch. Please get a better editor so we can focus on the storyline.

This book was such a great read! The author has delivered us a book where the story is set around a strong female character, and I just love that. Issy is tough, she is strong, and she won't back down until she finds her revenge. This book was exciting, and enjoyable to read.
I felt so much for the hero of this book. His past has made him who he is today and you can't help but love him, even with all his rough edges. He is powerful, formidable, and down right sexy! Issy is strong and capable of taking down who she needs to to get what she wants. Her past has also shaped who she is, but the two characters are soul mates through and through.
I read this book so quickly that I was a little upset when it ended, I wanted to keep reading. I just love reading this author's work! I can't help but wonder if Ace or Carter might get a book? Maybe they too will find their own strong women to fight along side them. I can't wait to read whatever else Mrs Smith brings up next!

Playette is a tantalising treat everyone will enjoy. It has a bit of everything all wrapped up in a sexy Isadora and Jasper bow for romance and suspense lovers.
Isadora has one goal; to kill the men of the Mafia. Then she meets a stranger who peaks her interest, and boy is he interesting!
I love the characters in this story, every wicked one of them, and let me tell you there are some very naughty ones! 😉 Well, okay there were a couple I didn’t like! As the story develops we gain a greater understanding of the characters but it’s not until closer to the end do we see them all clearly for just who they really are without any facades. I love the build up and slow reveal, the mystique is where it’s at, always.
This is a fast paced and easy to read story with great twists and turns, making this an exciting book where you hold need to on tight and enjoy the ride.

I love a great mafia read and this one definitely did not disappoint. Isadora had such incredible strength in her character that left me enviable of all her strength. And oh Jasper, how I swoon for the broody alpha with the soft underbelly. This story had so many incredible twists that I never saw coming and truly left me on the edge of my seat (and sleep deprived) so I could continue reading.

Isadora learns that the second she lays eyes on the mystery man hiding in the back! When their lives become more intertwined than either anticipated they both have to decide where their loyalties lie because it’s more than lives on the line when it comes to matters of the heart!

Wow. T.L. Smith has delivered yet another amazing unexpected story. Intense is too tame a word to describe this twisted tale.
Isadora is one strong kick ass heroine. You may not agree with everything she does but you will admire her tenacity. Together with Jasper they could set the world on fire with their chemistry. Revenge was never so sexy. I love the dark intensity of the story and the characters.

Wow Wow Wow! Excuse me, but I'm addicted to this! 😱😱 I don't care! I fell in love with this book, the main characters, the secondary characters, the writer's writing, and more I read in the original language (!) 🤯
I finished this book last night. And my thoughts still run in my brain.
This is my first time contacting a writer personally for questions. Because I am in love with the characters and the plot I had to pour everything into someone who read the book or even * wrote * it! And I got the answers, so TL. Thanks 💙

Some see it ... something psychological. That something has to be done to someone because he did it to me something bad. Someone have it in their blood. And who born to Revenge all their lives. But some people designation for revenge.
Isadora designation for revenge. Her whole life. She's looking for her. Her destiny (as she tells herself) is revenge. The word has full meanings. But for her, that's the destiny.
She works in the bar as a hostess. The owner, saved her from the injustice she experienced as a child.
"The power you can hold over a man. The control you can gain if you use it correctly. You can make a man, a powerful man, blind to everything around him if you choose to do it right."
Revenge is her name, and she achieves it. With her body. She is not ashamed of it.
I saw it as a big deal. Something huge. She did everything to make her body perfect. For revenge. Some won't like it. But that's her goal. Use what she has to put down the Mafia. Morty Mafia.
She has a list, of people. She wants one by one to kill and dip them in their own blood.
She doesn't care how she gets it. This is her personal revenge. All her killing. Will be worth the payment. Which she wants to receive.
Her character, Wow I fell in love with her from the very first episodes. Such a special character. Admittedly, her scars were so heavy. And see where she is today. It amazed me. She has a mouth that no man can resist. It has a body (🙃) that no man (🤤) can resist.
A huge figure. Full of femininity. Feminine power. She is a warrior.
When she finds out the people she needs to take revenge on. She does this to the end.
But, when she realizes that two eyes are looking at her. foreign. Someone stranger looks at her from afar. Calling her. And she knows she has to go to him.
"He reaches for my ass and pulls me against him, I feel so hard right now."
Get the man! Jasper! 🔥🔥🔥
Wow at the beginning of the story I confess. I thought Fucking came to such a dark figure without emotion. And that's how it went on until at least half the book. Until he opened himself. Just like a Pandora's box. But, I didn't find any diamonds there. I found broken black diamonds there.
His character is so strong. petition. Just as it is described. The man with the scars, and his tattoos. Dark chocolate hair and brown eyes as darkness.

When he sees Issy, he wants her under his wing. He wants to hire her. That he will have the pleasure 🔥 (I would be happy too !!!!! She will come to me) In addition, he is going through a deep journey. A journey with his past. 💔
"Do you want me here, Jasper. Why don't you tell me what you want from me?" He quirks an eyebrow. "That game?" He asks.
When the two see each other, we get an amazing story. Of revenge. Of dark love. Sexy in step by step. Indescribable.
I felt so connected to these characters. It didn't mention any book I've read so far in the dark genre, and the bakeries. Admittedly, some will see it differently. But personally, I felt different. A book written so well in my own personal life was very difficult to stop reading.
"Two fucked-up people can make it work. Can't they? There's hope for the broken, too."
But what will happen when the two of them past impede them? Will the revenge be worth it? Sweet or dark? Will her list be completed to achieve her mission in life? 🔥💙
In summary, I really liked the book. He gets 5 shining stars for me. Especially because of the secondary characters who add so much!
And I’m glad that I finally feel that the secondary characters have brought their stage, too.
And I'm most glad the writer decided to do a sequel. Yes yes, Morty Bakery will have a sequel to another (very intriguing ... dark) character in the series. 🤫

What a crazy ride this book took me on. Man I loved Isadora, she is one bad a$$ woman. And well she has to be for someone like Jasper. These two, not even sure how to describe them except holy hot af, they are like the perfect pair. Secrets, lies, revenge, love and a whole lotta sexy times.
