French XL Airways Stops Ticket Sales Amid Financial Problems

XL Airways, a French airline specializing in long-haul flights, has suspended tickets’ sale reporting financial problems. Yet another European airline on the verge of collapsed.

XL Airways operates a fleet of four Airbus A330 widebodies. For some time already the airline has been in search for potential buyers, although unsuccessfully.

“Due to its financial difficulties, we are deeply sorry to have to announce that XL Airways is stopping selling tickets effective today, 19th September 2019”, said the statement on the airline’s website.

Recently, such situations on the smaller budget airlines’ market in Europe have already stopped being extraordinary. Growing fuel prices and intensifying competition are grounding airline after an airline. Among the last one is also a small French carrier Aigle Azur.
