Favorite Quotes:

“Micro-penis? Poor guy.” “Wrong again. Poor me.”

I’m content to have him kiss me like he is, like I’m the air he needs to breathe and the color in his wind.

Hope is a dangerous emotion.

I don’t think there needs to be a time limit on love or grief. Grief ends when you’re done. And love begins when you’re ready.

My Review:

She was his Cricket and forever chirping.

He was her Giant ax throwing, he-man, sex god, and part-time shampoo boy.

I always enjoy Ms. Dunbar’s clever and uniquely appealing character development as well as her use of witty banter and toe-curling sensual romance. This couple was a study of opposites and contradictions; which can be a good thing, although I found myself growing increasingly annoyed with the repetitive inner musings of angsty doubt and obtuse miscommunications.

I liked this book, but I didn’t love it, there was far too much contrived conflict just for drama’s sake for my taste, but that’s just me, angst and flighty flip-flopping characters are never going to reside on my list of favorite things. But, in the plus column - he washed her hair, there were freezer fairies, and did I mention the breath-stealing and volcanically hot and erotic sex scenes? I thought I might have ;)

"Name your price, Mr.Harington?"
The quietude solitary existence of George the Giant is shattered by the chirping of a cricket- Olivet Pierson. His recluse life in the vast land on a mountain is trespased with an intent to purchase
No Sale!!

description

Pink mouth pouts, nervous babbling begins and Lumbersexual & Steamy Giant is slain...
Dunbar is in a league of her own. She gives us one Hunky, drool worthy, Young at heart, sexy silver fox after the other and I'm in love with the Harrington brothers.
Billy The Pub owner
Charlie the mayor
Jamie the motorcycle man🤷‍♀️

Let's focus on BFG- Big Friendly Giant. He is silent, brooding, uncomfortable around words. Silently mourning the loss in his life, he hides deep into his vast land, up in the mountain, in a cabin.

description

"He's gruff, as if a smile and a good chuckle might set him on fire. He’s already larger than life in size, but with a good guffaw, he’d be bigger than thunder. A Greek god of sound and stature."
Love finds its way to him regardless of his barriers, comes bumping around in a rental car narrowly crushing him literally, but mangles his heart eventually. Polar opposites attract with a supernova force and their witnesses are a clear icy brook, several million stars, crisp mountain air and a bear!!
“My life is so quiet.”
“And I talk too much.”

description

I have always loved Dunbar's mature handling of women's sentiments. Older men & women with real problems and yet their lives are equally torn apart as any young'uns.
Written with tenderness and equal parts charm, it'll be so easy to fall in love with Harrington brothers at first sight.
"I’m suddenly thinking about the size of his property and the lay of his land. The width. The girth. The length. Damn Marcus for his innuendos."
They're a bunch of sassy, sarcastic charmer, but their bonds are strong as steel.
Heady as a freshly brewed beer, this story is intoxicating and magical as the night sky
Dive deep and let the love bathe you like a chilly mountain river.

I am not an outdoor type of girl. I hate camping, hiking etc. After reading this book, I am willing to be camping girl if I only have my own Giant. I mean this man is so sexy. He is rough, brooding, mysterious and hot. Camping here I come.

Miss Dunbar slowly has been my favorite goes to for over 40 romance. She can write such a sexy and hot sexy scenes and makes outdoor believer out of me. Not just the steamy aspect, the characters chemistry is also bull eye. It build rather quick in Silver Brewer. By the end, Giant stole my heart.

Overall this is a wonderful story.

I just can’t with desperate twats that almost ran over a man while admiring his physique.
Heroine is old enough to know better but she’s behaving like hormonal teen.

I’m blinded by the gleam of sunlight bouncing off his firm chest, a sprinkle of hair in the shape of a V between the flat plains of his pecs and above the slow hills of his abs. More hair leads south, dipping into the red band exposed above his waistline, and my mouth waters until two large hands hit the hood of my rental car, and I notice his mouth move as he shouts. “Stop.” Oh. My. God. My foot slams on the brake, causing me to jolt forward and narrowly missing the bridge of my nose on the steering wheel.

Staring at him, I’d die a happy woman.

Reasons I picked this book up:
-Hot dude on cover
-Characters advertised as "older" (+40)

This book delivered:
-Hot dude
-Characters (average 45) whose maturity level equals those of pubescent kids. 😒🥸
-Resulting drama you can expect from juvenile characters.

Much like the Energizer Bunny...

It just kept going and going and going.
The story had pretty much ended by the 50% point.
Unfortunately, the book did not.
Rather than just a fabulous love-at-first-sight romance, the writer choose instead to take us down a never ending, twisting, turning, meandering, wondering pathway to nowhere.
I finally grew bored with the whole thing around the 65% point, and stopped reading.
‘More’ doesn’t always mean ‘better’. Sometimes, it’s just more.

It's okay.
Neither have been with anyone else for a long time.
Hero wife has died some time ago so he has some guilt about moving on.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
There is a lot of sex.
And one issue I had was although they both said I love you, neither seemed confident in a future together.
I think this author's thing may be that loving each other isn't enough to make a happy future and I found it a repetitive theme from another book I read from the author.
HEA.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series.

Y’all, I’m kicking myself right now! Seriously kicking myself because I’ve been missing out on these fantastic Silver Foxes from L.B. Dunbar! My god, I’m going back and reading them all as soon as possible!

Though, I may be hard pressed to find a replacement favorite silver fox for George “Giant” Harrington. He’s all grumbly, grizzly, gruff awesomeness wrapped up in a sexy AF package. He’s closed himself off from love since the death of his wife, but there’s just something about Olivet—Cricket to Giant, Letty to everyone else—Pierson that calls to him, that makes him want. Want more out of life. Want to spend some time with someone else. Want to fall in love again.

And Letty. Man, she just wants to be loved and be successful. Be loved for who and what she is without judgement. And that’s exactly what Giant does for her.

And through all of their trials and tribulations, Giant and Letty do figure out a way to make it work. It’s not easy at all. It take serious sacrifice on both sides, but holy moly it’s worth it in the end!

I totally fell in love with Giant, Letty and the rest of The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge and I cannot wait for more! ~ Missy, 5 stars

I agreed to read this without even knowing who it was about just because I adored the last book I read by LB Dunbar LOL Imagine how happy I was when I started reading and realized it was in the same world as Mati and Denton from Second Chance. I KNEW I 'd love it :) I loved Giant and Letty and can't wait to get more from the Harringtons!

The audio of this was fantastic!

L.B. Dunbar writes the types of books I can relate to. Her characters have gone through life, made choices, made mistakes, lived through loss, pain, and happiness. Now that they are over 40 and turning silver at the temples, they are faced with new choices, new loves, new dilemmas. Reading about “older” characters makes L.B.’s books relatable on a whole different level. Their issues are similar to my issues and that is what makes her books stand out to me. Normally!

This time around, our 40ish characters still had some growing up to do and a lot of learning about communication to do. These “character flaws” made the book interesting with sprinkles of frustration. A little communication between these two would have went a long way to easing their pain and suffering but as the old sayings go, it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Silver Brewer is book one in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series and there are 3 more eligible brothers just waiting for their turn with a new female lead. George “Giant” Harrington, the eldest, is the main character this time around. He is irrefutably a lumbersexual, mountain man ready to show the independent city girl, Olivet “Cricket” Pierson, all that his “property” entails. When these two aren’t verbally speaking, they know how to heat up the sheets, or the sleeping bags, or the rugs, even furniture. Some of their extra-curricular activities were quite shocking, even a little brazen, and that is totally why I loved these two so much. When they open their mouths though, one of them usually speaks before thinking and lets stubborn pride get in the way.

All of this makes for a very enjoyable story and a lusting for all things rough, gruff, and masculine. Just when I was wondering where this story was going to head, it took a twist I absolutely did not see coming but could totally sympathize with Giant over. Some life changes are really big and you can’t always jump right in with two feet. Ironically, that is what I loved most about this book. The way Giant and Letty didn’t hold back and went after what they wanted whole-heartedly is definitely part of the charm of reading these silver fox books. Life is too short to wait around thinking about what you want. Life is there to be lived, and lived well.

5 Star Review Silver Brewer (The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge #1) by L.B.Dunbar

I have only recently discovered L.B.Dunbar and I have no idea why that is as I love her style of writing. The Silver Foxes stories for the over 40’s is a fabulous series of books that I have fallen in love with. Each book has left a smile on my face and Silver Brewer is no exception.

I particularly like that the characters are more mature than in the majority of books that I read. It’s wonderful to read a series about characters who are not in their 20’s or even 30’s; it’s such a refreshing change.

Olivet (Letty) Pierson and George (Giant) Harrington were such a fabulous couple, I loved them both individually and especially together.

What starts off slow and steady builds to a fabulous conclusion that had me captivated from the first to the last chapter. Silver Brewer is a well written, strong, second chance at love story with characters that will quickly burrow into your heart.

Can Letty and Giant survive living so far apart? Will their love be strong enough to overcome the obstacles or will the distance be too much and tear them apart?

Silver Brewer is a totally heart warming, smoking hot story that ticked all the boxes and had me smiling throughout. One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I appreciate these stories because so often it seems people forget that you are never too old to find love and all that goes with it. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

All the stars ⭐️ ⭐️ I loved this book! Giant is a 49 year old widower searching for something more in his life. Enter 40 year old Letty, who wants to buy his property in the mountains. He agrees to discuss it if she spends 3 days camping with him.
Neither is good at expressing their emotions and talking things out. Assumptions cause problems that could be solved if they communicated better. This story is sweet and steamy and I can’t wait to read about the other brothers.
I received an ARC for an honest review.

I’m always on the lookout for characters in romance over the age of 40. This book was dual point of view between a female real estate agent and a widower who is around 50 that owns a family brewery. Unfortunately, the heroine in this novel seems more like late 20s, if that. She’s still in a job she hates, working for relatives that she’s seeking approval from yet doesn’t really like at all. She can’t even assert herself enough to say “NO” to being the maid of honor to her competitive sister who is marrying her ex-fiancé. She knows what she wanted to do but still hasn’t done much of it yet with the exception of one rather huge thing that the author waits until over half the book to even tell the reader about.

“I’m suddenly thinking about the size of his property and the lay of his land. The width. The girth. The length.”

The dialogue was a tad cheesy and even a little juvenile. The meet-cute was a little over the top. The sex was steamy and interesting. For the most part, I enjoyed the character of Giant who had more adult problems in connecting with his now adult children and reflecting on why he found his first marriage content but not satisfying. At least his communication issues were age appropriate.

“It’s true, but it’s not.” ?

The heroine’s reaction to his kids was a little over the top as well . He’s fifty, he’s had a life, so had she. Most people assume that you’ve had kids if you’ve been married for over a decade. Believe me, I would know. It’s a conversation starter (and a conversation ender sometimes when people don’t have another line of questions ready when you say NO, I don’t have children). I would applaud her for not assuming except that it’s just one more thing in a long list of age inappropriate actions by the heroine.

“You didn’t ask me, though. I offered, and you took the choice from me.”

I did give the book 2 stars because I did like the concept of the novel at the beginning but after the sister’s wedding the rest of the book just felt like one big communication problem between two older adults that wouldn’t have had a problem if they would just stop and have an detailed conversation about what they want instead of avoiding each other for months on end. The longer it went on the more stupid I felt for not putting the book down.

I was really enjoying this one up until the adoption nonsense I don't think the story needed it & why make that baby biracial that just felt like a tick box, on top of the constant misunderstandings the book rapidly took a nose dive.

This book had a lot of telling instead of showing. Neither of the characters felt fleshed out and it felt like parts of the story were missing.
Although I love that the characters are 40+, the story was just meh.

Wonderful.

My first book by this author, but definitely not the last one.
I loved Giant and Letty. They connected so beautifully, their chemistry was electrifying and their interactions were so addicting.
They were funny, loyal and they were willing to apologize for their mistakes and forgive for the other's.
They both had issues to overcome, they strongly needed to improve their communication skills, but they both loved deeply.

I really liked the path the story took and I wasn't expecting it. I'm not talking about twists and turns, but it was refreshing to see Letty's new journey and Giant's play in it, and I loved that it wasn't rushly told.

Now, bring me the next Harrington brother.

Stick a fork in me because – I. Am. Done!

My little heart is full to bursting. Although, between thee and me, I fully expected something else to burst several times whilst reading this story. *snorts* Who needs those pesky little brain cells anyway? Certainly not me. *winks*

L.B. Dunbar has done it again! I know this story is about a Silver Fox, but baby, this beaut was pure gold. *smirks* (Thank you, thank you! *bows* I humbly accept the Queen of Cheese award.)

I honestly don’t think I’ve simultaneously laughed and swooned so much in ages. My jaw hurts from grinning. And that is saying a lot for someone with a permanent RBF!

George (aka Giant) and Olivet/Letty (aka Cricket) had my heart from the off. An immediate attraction boils over into sizzling chemistry.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to climb this Giant for yourself. Well, one can dream... *sighs* It’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it? Behind that stoic reserve lies a man filled with raw passions. He just needs the right woman to tap into them.

Now Letty, her and I hit it off from the get-go. Total BFFs (in my mind anyway), she had me wanting to break out the baseball bat! *shakes head* Not for her, silly. But, for all those that had done her wrong. I wanted to have an up close and personal word with their extremities *whistles*. Too much, you say? Not enough in my book. *smirks*

Age is but a number and we’re never too old to keep dreaming, and hope we find our heart’s desires.

Now, if only I could be so lucky.

DNF at 78%. Yeah, I know.

Reasons I should have put it down:
*white heroine compares herself to Pocahontas when she’s in the woods. I mean, rly?
*she disses her ex by mentioning his micropenis. It’s juvenile and ablist.
*Things moved SO fast at the beginning I thought I’d skipped a chapter or two.
*heroine “doesn’t see skin color” when she adopts a biracial kid. Honestly, the whole setup on the adoption thing felt off. I realize it was supposed to be a big plot-twisty reveal, but IIRC it came after the 50% mark which made it seem like it came out of left field.

Reasons I didn’t put it down sooner:
*I was listening to an audiobook, so I was coasting
*the narrators are excellent

I love George Harrington II aka Giant. I've been waiting for The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series too start, I fell in love with them in Mati and Denton's book Second Chance. Giant is the quiet one, after the military, he came home to run the family brewery after his wife died he became even more withdrawn enjoying spending time on his mountain. City girl Letty comes looking for Giant to buy his mountain property on behalf of her uncle's real estate firm. Sparks fly and Letty and Giants love story begins, neither have felt passion like this before. This book is so well-written with amazing characters. This book is so special because it's about a forty-year-old woman and fifty-year-old man that find it's never too late to find the right person to fall in love with. Outstanding Book !!

Slick’s review.

Silver Brewer begins a new series from L.B. Dunbar although there is a bit of a crossover from the Sexy Silver Foxes series. As a first book in a series we are introduced to a lot of characters, but for the most part the relationship was priority and not lost in the set up of the series.

Olivet (Letty) Pierson also known as Cricket to George (Giant) Harrington II pretty much comes crashing in and uprooting his life as he knows it. I loved the way they met, the challenge he presents to her, and her willingness to meet it, but most of all I love how it was easy to see them both falling under each other’s spell almost from the start. While Letty is 40 and Giant is almost 50, they really are in very different places in their lives which becomes a bit of an issue. I don’t want to say much because I think it’s important for the reader to experience each situation as it comes up and the emotions it brings forth in both of them. I will say this, these two have crazy chemistry but more than that they complement one another. Letty is chatty, outgoing, and quite honest in her thoughts and Giant is reserved, brooding, and not the best at communicating, but they work well together. They both make mistakes in this story, big ones, but it’s the foundation that they built from the start that helps them move past the hurt they cause one another.

The entire cast of characters is intriguing and I want to know more about each of Giant’s brothers and although we met his sister Mati in the other series, it is nice to see glimpses of how things are working out for her as well.

A story of compromise, forgiving, and enjoying a new lease on life, Silver Brewer is another outstanding romance of characters in the prime of their lives.

It is unbelievable how LB Dunbar can continually write new and fantastically written stories geared towards us “more mature” readers, and this book is proof.

It is funny how a chatterbox like Letty can take down a man such as Giant. From their first encounter, sparks are flying left and right. It makes me want to move and see if I can find a Harrington for myself.

Don’t miss out on reading this!

I don’t understand how the author wasn’t bored writing this because I was beyond BORED! It went on and on and on and was going nowhere. I actually rolled my eyes on the many intimate scenes. The MMC was so damn awkward and the FMC was so damn desperate. Everything was just cringe.
At half way when the story actually should have wrapped up I saw there was so much more to go. I was over it at that point. DNF 52%

When a man is named Giant as a nickname, you know what to expect. He is also a middle aged man who has experienced war and great loss in his life. Now, all he wants is peace and quiet, a beer, and a hike through his wonderful land.

All is seemingly fine, until Letty is given the assignment to go and purchase the land Giant owns so her uncle's realty firm can make a ton of money. Let's face it. Letty is not the best sales person, but she is the most motivated woman you ever met. No matter what she does, or what her good intentions are, she always manages to mess up. So, imagine Giant, a man who does not talk much and loves silence. Add Letty, who talks incessantly when she is nervous (and Giant makes her very nervous). And you have the recipe for an incredible hike through Blue Ridge.

You would never expect these two characters would have so much in common. They both are lonely. Both of them also have a longing for a real family and a connection to another human being that will put some sazz into their lives.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

This author is relatively new to me and I have no idea why I didn’t discover her earlier because she certainly writes a wonderful story with her older silver fox heroes. The silver foxes are all over 40 and that makes them so much more appealing and real as far as I’m concerned and I was excited to read the latest which is Silver Brewer and let me say this book was everything I expected and so more.
This is a romance that’s starts off on very shaky ground and it takes time for Olivet Pierson know to her friends as Letty and George Harrington know to his friends as Giant to open up and become friends before they finally become lovers.....
A book that has all the feels you want in a great read, it’s a second chance at love for this adorable couple even though some may thing love isn’t for the over 40’s this book will make you feel very different about that statement, Love is possible for all ages. I’m going to leave you with please one click this great read because I believe this is a MUST READ for all lovers of romance.

Want to read a book about a huge hunk of a lumberjack man? You're in the right place! Giant Harrington is a sexy silver bear of a man. He's a man of few words who prefers to be left alone. Olivet Pearson almost runs him over she's so taken by this man... But Olivet needs his land. Giant won't even talk to her. But "Letty" is a talker and she's persistent. Thus blooms the worst idea ever, Giant says he will entertain her offer if she spends 3 nights up on the ridge with him. Letty is up for the challenge. And just you wait until the first night where they share a tent! Giant knows what he likes and he likes Letty, who he affectionately calls "Cricket." Giant protects her when she needs protection and he washes Letty's hair! Yes, that one really got me. He's totally swoon-worthy. Letty has her life all planned out and she's used to trying to do things on her own. This definitely gets in the way of their budding relationship. How do you make a relationship work long distance from Chicago to the mountains of Georgia? Read this fabulous over 40 romance to find out.

This book was not what I expected and that made me love it so much more! At first I really didn't like Giant, but he totally grew on me. Sure you can be a sexy beast of a man, but you have to be nice. Giant ends up endearing himself to me. Great start to a new spin-off series in L.B. Dunbar's Over 40 Romance collection! 4.5 stars

I couldn’t put this book down! L.B has totally blown me away with this story. Every time I think no way she can beat this silver foxes swoon factor she writes another book with an even sexier silver fox! She does know how to capture the quiet, sexy, hunk of a man! Giant is a quiet, giant of a man but deep down he has so much to say and so much love to share. Letty has a lot to say and she says it. She’s quite the little chatter box. ;) The first 14 or so chapters are so different than any book I’ve read and then add the rest of the book and I’m absolutely in love with Giant & Letty story! This is the first in the series of The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge and boy I can’t wait for the rest of the Harrington brothers stories! Thank you L.B. for another great book!

L.B. Dunbar has found her niche. The over 40’s is definitely a trope she does extremely well. Each book she writes gets better and better. I loved this one so much. Giant is every woman’s dream of a hunky, brooding woodsman and beer crafter. He likes his solitude and when he’s almost run over by a fiery woman while at his cabin, he’s ready to read the riot act. Then she tries to buy the land and he demands she learn all about it first. He’s not gonna sell anything though. They get hot and steamy by the campfire for three, then Letty allows her past hangups to make a rash decision. She is set right by her BFF and then it’s up to her to show Grant how wrong she was.
Sexy, sassy, and just up my alley. This is a perfect wet weekend read for anyone, over or under 40.
