This one’s an issue that drives families apart, estranges friends and lovers and creates unholy commotion wherever it goes. We’re not talking about politics or faith, but about something far more fundamental: Can one eat donuts outside the winter week of Hanukkah?

For some, the very idea is sacrilegious. For others, it’s absolutely divine.

The latter, therefore, will be very happy to hear that Israel’s most iconic donuts (sufganiyot) are now available in their full glory for the rest of the summer, ready to be enjoyed to the sounds of whirring air-con.

Israeli patisserie and coffee-shop chain Roladin, famous (or infamous, depends whom you ask) for its outlandish and extravagant Hanukkah donut selection, has decided it can’t wait until winter and has opened a pop-up donut shop at Tel Aviv’s Azrieli Mall.

“We’re proud and excited to launch the pop-up shop with its crazy and cool donut collection in which we’ve materialized all the years-long fantasies of our team and chefs,” Roladin CEO Noa Bachar Aharoni said of the enterprise.

The fried dough wonderland is offering the company’s much-loved regulars as well as new concoctions and daily specials that are set to be served until the end of August. You know, just in time for Rosh Hashana.
