Logan Heath was the sweetest and most beautiful boy I had ever seen. He was popular, smart, and the star quarterback of Fort Johnson High. Every girl in school followed him around in hopes of getting his attention. I was no different, except that I admired Logan from afar. With him being a superstar junior and me being an awkward freshman at a new school, our coupling was a mere pipe dream.

Implementing my top-notch investigating skills I learned from reading The Nancy Drew Mysteries, I followed Logan’s life from high school through his college career, and then some. Fearing that my stalker-ish tendencies were becoming more of a mental health issue, I purposely lost track of him five years ago. I admit since that time I have thought of Logan. And when I say thought I mean he has popped into one or forty R-rated dreams of mine.

The day he walked into my bakery, butterflies fluttered in my stomach, tingles tingled my skin, and a sequence of R-rated dreams flashed through my head. But I was no longer that awkward teenager, too scared to speak to him. I had grown into a confident woman. A woman who wanted to admire Logan Heath up close and personal. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, Logan wanted something from me that I was not willing to give him.

I have been curious about Miss Bailey's book since The Dancer. So when I saw Lip Smacker, I picked it up right away and I am not disappointed. This book is fun, fun and fun. Well with a bit of sad at the end. Everything about this book is worth it.

Lip (I love her name) and Logan had their second chance of romance under a very cute sweet fun circumstances. Their banter is super fun. I love Lip's sassy mouth and her independent. She is fearless. Logan is also a swoon worthy hero. He stays with Lip until the end. He did everything to convince Lip that he really loves her.

The story is short. I wish it can be longer so I can understand the character development better. Overall this is a wonderful book. A fun read in the middle of workday.

This was a really sweet love story about two people not prepared for the emotions that they feel for each other. Lip has always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery with her grandmother. Once that dream has come true, she realizes that running a business is harder than she thought. Enter sexy Logan Heath and his goal of buying her business to make way for a luxury hotel. These two have a small bit of history, but when they are in the same room the attraction is explosive. Everything about this story was sweet and wonderful.

Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker is an unusual name for a young girl and the source of amusement among her peers at her school. It took some time but Lip did eventually learn to stand up for herself. When she was a teen her parents decided to move to another town and she had to go through the whole rigmarole again but this time at high school. It was here that she developed a crush on Logan Heath, with his cute boy band looks and beautiful eyes. This admiration continued until he graduated and she never saw him again. Unrequited love can be tough…

Lip is now the proud owner of her own bakery, along with her grandmother Wavy. She is the person that Lip was named after and has lived with most of her life thus far. It would be fair to say that business is slow and now there is a new threat with developers moving in and trying to buy up the surrounding buildings, including her bakery. When they come knocking on her door she is ready for the fight but is completely disarmed when she looks into the eyes of her childhood crush, Logan Heath.

Initially Logan doesn’t recognise Lip but realisation eventually burrows its way into his memory and he is surprised to see her again. She thought her admiration of him in high school had gone unnoticed but Logan was very aware of her crush and is really happy to see her again. Lip has very mixed feelings, her crush is still front and centre but he is also the big bad wolf who wants to shut her down. Lip cannot be friends with the enemy right? Logan is persistent though and he really enjoys flirting with and spending time with Lip. He loves the passion she has for helping people in her community and the love she has for her family.

‘I’m touched by your concern for my boys, but don’t worry.’ Stopping next to me, he leaned in so his mouth was right next to my ear. ‘I don’t wear underwear.’ After dropping that bomb, he swaggered away, leaving me with visions of his sugarplums dancing unencumbered in my head.’

Will unrequited love finally be reciprocated, making all of Lip’s teen crush dreams come true? You will have to read and find out! This was a fun, light hearted love story with low angst and plenty of cupcakes.

If you haven’t read Present Perfect by this author then you need to get onto that now!

~ 5 Two Halves of a Whole Stars ~

Lip Smacker was a fun, entertaining and sexy read. But it was also a book with all the feels you want to read in a 5 star read.

This story had me laughing out loud, swooning, blushing and even crying. The majority of this book was a feel good romance but it also had that emotional side that pulled on your heartstrings. I was invested in this story and characters right from the start.

I haven’t read many stories by Alison G. Bailey, but each one I have read, I have loved!!! Her stories are always filled with relatable characters and storylines that I can relate to.

Lip Smacker is a complete standalone novel that is told solely from Lip’s POV. This story focuses on Lip and Logan’s story. Lip is a bakery owner who is struggling to keep her bakery open and taking care of her aging grandma. Logan is an attorney who is hired by an investment firm that is trying to buy all the existing businesses to build a hotel in their place. Lip is not willing to sell the bakery. What Lip wasn’t expecting when Logan shows up in the bakery, is that this is the same man who she has secretly loved since she was 14 years old. Can Logan get Lip to give up her dream and sell the Bakery?? What happens when insecurities seep in?? Can they find their HEA?? Read this fun story to find out.

I love both Lip and Logan. Lip was a strong and independent woman, who wants to do it all on her own. Logan was such a swoony Hero. He is the Hero that makes the reader believe in their prince charming. I loved the banter between Lip and Logan. You also couldn’t forget about Wavy, Lip’s grandma. She holds a special place in my heart!!!

I would 100% recommend this story to anyone looking for that swoony, feel good romance with amazing characters and a heart warming love story.

I loved the book cover -- I detested the name chosen for the main female character -- even shortened didn't help me in my distaste for it. I know - I know the author probably had her ideas relating to the name and it's her book after all. The storyline has the good, the bad and the ugly. There are some highs and lows. At certain times, I felt the feels. But overall, this book didn't really click for me and I ended up neither hating or loving it. It was a quick read -- entertaining enough to keep me going through to a bittersweet happy ever after. A sweet and happy Epilogue was much appreciated.

3.5 All about Logan Stars

If you are in the mood for a CUTE read this is a MUST read book. I really enjoyed it. I had a smile on my face AND tears were brought to my eyes within the pages of this book. Bravo Ms. Bailey. It isn't easy to bring tears out of this blackened reader's heart. But you done did it. Logan was everything I love in a book boyfriend and Lip was adorable. I flew through this and enjoyed the ride thoroughly and had a smile on my face at the end. So win win. xo

4.5 star Review Lip Smacker by Alison G Bailey

Alison G. Bailey is a new author to me and why that is the case, I have no idea. I found this book to be well written and entertaining, keeping me interested from the first to the last chapter.

Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker is the co owner of a bakery with her grandmother Wavy (love their names). Going through life with such an unusual name has certainly been a challenge for Lip, particularly when she was a teenager. Falling in love from a distance with, high school was where she developed a crush on Logan Heath, who had no idea.

This story is funny and at times heart wrenching. The bakery could use some new business and Lip is concerned when developers try to buy her bakery. Lip is shocked when she comes face to face with Logan, the man tasked with convincing them to sell and he initially has no idea who she is.

Of course it wouldn’t be a romance story without some angst and drama. Lip is torn by her feelings for Logan even knowing that he is the “enemy” she finds her feelings re surfacing.

There is definitely some flirting going on and as they get to know each other Logan falls under her spell.

I loved how sassy and feisty Lip is, passionate and loyal, she loves her family and is not afraid to show it. Wavy is a great character who I found to be highly entertaining.

This is a fun, flirty, second chance at love story that had me smiling throughout.

Lip has always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery with her grandmother. And when that dream becomes reality, Lip realizes it’s harder running a business than she thought. But when her former high school crush is back in town and is threatening her business, all gloves are off.

Logan’s back in town and is working with a developer who wants Liz’s shop’s real estate, but she isn’t selling. As Logan and Lip face-off—Logan is finally noticing Lip and starting to crush on her. But Lip doesn’t trust his intentions or believes he’s being truthful since he’s trying to buy her business. So what is she to do?

Lip Smacker was sweet and cute. Low on angst and an all around enjoyable read.

This heroine had the emotional maturity of a two year old and the poor hero should have escaped when he got the chance. She was awful and after a sweet night together tried to ghost him. Refused to communicate with him. Believes the worst about him. Twice! She then has the audacity to whine about her broken heart - when *she* ghosted *him*. And he just kept coming back for more emotional abuse. I think this was the awfullest heroine I've ever read.

DNF at 22%

There's being quirky and cute and there's forcing quirky and cute. This book is 100% the latter. There are so many places where this book defies logic and what people would do in a situation to go for the "cute" or "quirky" and it just didn't work for me.

I’m a big fan of Alison’s books and she did not disappoint with Lip Smacker. This story was sweet and a lot of fun. It had me laughing and swooning and enjoying every minute.

There was witty banter, chemistry and romance, and a little angst. I loved the characters. They were well developed and realistic. Lip was independent and strong and Logan was definitely book boyfriend material.

This story is told in Lips’ point of view and is a complete standalone. And I loved it!!

DNF @ 58%

I really tried with this book. I've read books by this author before and loved them but this book...I just wasn't feeling it. I kept pushing on, and told myself, "you're already at 48%, it's practically half way, keep going!"...then it was 60% and then finally, I was started to get annoyed at the characters and realized I didn't care if they got a HEA. So I decided the best thing to do was to DNF the book with no rating instead of force myself to finish a book I wasn't enjoying.

The book started off so cute but then...it just went downhill. I can't even pinpoint a moment when it happened, it just did.

Elipheleta Smacker (Lip) has strong ties to the neighborhood she now runs her cupcake business out of. Memories of walking down the street reminiscing with Wavy (her grandmother) keep Lip tied to the neighborhood even if her building is run down and a major corporation wants to buy her out to build a new hotel in the area. She isn’t willing to leave the spot she chose so deliberately.

Logan Heath is known as the Closer. He is brought in to work the deal when small businesses don’t want to be bought out. But he never imagines when he walks through the door to Lipsmacker that he is going to get more than a business deal out of the encounter.

I struggled a little with some of the chemistry between Lip and Logan. While they started out adversaries, it seemed like Logan’s reason for entering the cupcake shop the first time was forgotten when he connected who Lip was. And Lip generally turned to mush when Logan entered the room anyway, forgetting herself in the process. But I loved the way their relationship built between them. So while their early animosity may have gone by the wayside quickly, they fell back on genuine interest and attraction.

I loved the bond between Lip and Wavy. Lip’s connection to her grandmother was a big part of who she was, and having Wavy around daily is part of what pushed Lip to stick with her dreams even through hardship.

The side characters added a spark to the story as well. From the bakery’s regular customer to Lip’s friend Cindy at camp, there were plenty of characters to push Lip out of her comfort zone and hold out a hand as needed. I would have loved to have some narration from Logan, but Lip’s voice is steady throughout. She is a solid narrator, if a little focused on her business while ignoring some signs around her. The things she misses make for fun revelations when she finally clues in to what has been going on around her.

This was generally an entertaining read. Easy, a little light, and a lot of fun, Lip and Logan’s story kept me grinning from start to finish.

This is the first book I’ve read by Alison G. Bailey and it will most certainly not be my last. I absolutely loved everything about it. I love her writing style and found myself rereading paragraphs\dialogue because it was so entertaining. Lip and Logan are amazing, I fell in love with them both individually and as a couple. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and the use of family members (Wavy) also added to the storyline and enjoyment factor. This book is a five plus star read, add it to your TBR list right away, trust me you won’t regret it. (I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).

This is my first book from Alison and I can say I so enjoyed it! Lip and Logan is a cute, sweet, funny story . It revolves around Lip and her grandmother's bakery and Logan appearing wanting to purchase the building. She may have a bit of a crush on Logan in high school but lost track of him until her floundering bakery ended up being in the building he wants to buy! They aren't really enemies but Lip does not want to give up what it hers. Logan is man who gets what he wants and it seem the lovely Lip is on that list !!! Loved their witty sassy banter !

My one click pile just got a little bit bigger. Alison G. Bailey was never on my radar before, but boy does she make an impression. Lip Smacker packs all the feels inside of an irresistible story. From awkward teen years to adult heartache, Bailey gives emotions something worth investing in. Lip and Logan were a joyful, breath of fresh air. Can't wait to see what else this author has up her sleeve.
November 9, 2019
Let me start by saying that Alison G. Bailey never disappoints. I've read pretty much all her books and they all bring something original and sweet to the table.

Lip Smacker is funny, heartfelt, sexy, with a heroine full of sass, a grandmother who is a beautiful soul, and a swoony hero. A big investment company is looking to buy the bakery that Lip has put her heart and soul building from the ground up. And when they send a sexy attorney to try to convince Lip to sell, she receives the surprise of her life because she has known this man since she was a teenager. Logan is "the closer" and he has been assigned to get the spot where the bakery is in order to build a big hotel in that area, but sometimes things don't go according to plan and matters of the heart take the lead for the closer.

Bailey has written a story that is as sweet as the cupcakes Lip makes. She shows us that perseverance and the love for what we do go along way keeping family together and showing the rest of the world that money can not buy memories (past and present,) or the quality time we get to spend with those we love. While most of the book has its very funny and witty moments as well as the heated moments between Lip and Logan, it also has that one moment that made me bawled, you know is coming but when it finally happens is heartbreaking, I think because it was written with so much care and love it affected me even more.

You're going to love Lip, Logan and Wavy (grandma extraordinaire.) Grab a cupcake and your favorite beverage and enjoy this beautiful story.

ARC GIVEN TO ME BY THE AUTHOR

https://triciaciak.blogspot.com/?m=1

It's no surprise that I absolutely adored this book! Alison is one of my favorite authors. She has no trouble writing an funny, loving, sexy read like this one. I laughed, I cried, I swooned!

This is a standalone novel told from Elipheleta "Lip" Smacker. She owns a bakery that is struggling. Unfortunately there is an investment firm buying up all the businesses around her to build a hotel in their place.
In walks "The Closer" Logan Heath who is hired by the investment firm to try to get Lip to sell. (also the same buy in High School she happened to have a crush on and also liked to stalk..lol)

Wavy (Lip's grandmother and only living relative) she refuses to sell since her bakery happens to be the same building her grandparents met when they were kids.

Of course Logan and Lip struggle to keep their hands to themselves. The characters in this story are so very well written and relatable. I recommend picking up this book to see if Lip sells her bakery and see what happens between these two AMAZING CHARACTERS!!! Also after reading this story I have a strong urge to go visit Charleston, SC!!

Elipheleta ( I have no idea how to pronounce this name) is normal sweet girl, and owner of a struggling cupcake cafe. Lip's life has taken twists and turn, with the loss of her parents, and life with her grandma has always been good. But now its taking a turn. a big developer has come to town and wants to buy her dream, she's not for selling !!
The Deal Closer is brought in and Lip is thrown into chaos, as it's Logan Heath, her High School Crush !
I loved this story, the chemistry between Lip and Logan was searing hot, and i definitely wanted them to "get it on!".
Lip was definitely a strong determined girl, but i loved the word vomit, lol you just never knew what kind of ramble her nerves would have her throwing out!!
Logan was the dream man, but she really couldn't trust him right?
A really engaging book, of love, life, grief, family and the every day emotion turmoils and struggles was can all experience all packaged together with fun and emotion that will have you laughing while crying!
Definitely a book i'd recommend !!

Lip Smacker was a fun and entertaining read that I loved reading. There was so much about this story that I loved making it difficulty to put the story down to go to sleep at night. The author was written a storyline that was really sweet and fun to read with characters that I loved reading about throughout the story.

Lip is the quirky and fun cupcake store owner that i really loved reading about and I really loved the funny things that she said or did within the story. I loved the relationship that she had with her Wavy in the story and the way she cared for her.

Logan was different to what I was expecting within the story and found that he was so much better. I really loved the way that he was with Lip despite the fact that he was meant to be getting her sell her shop. He was a greta hero for the story.

This was such a great read with really great writing by this author who was able to write a range of emotion in this story. This is a highly recommended story.

Sweeter than sugar. Better than a cupcake. More adorable than a baby unicorn and all the rainbows. Hilarious. Guaranteed to hit you right in the feels. Lip Smacker is just all the things! I laughed, cried and swooned like crazy while reading this! Between the adorable and hilarious banter that went on between Logan and Lip and one of the BEST HEA’s ever it’s impossible to not fall in love with this book.
Lip is this adorable, quirky, feisty sweetheart that I instantly loved. The bond she had with her grandmother reminded me so much of the relationship I have with mine it made me fall even harder for her. I swear there wasn’t one thing I didn’t love about her. And Logan? Oh holy swoon! Just as quick witted as Lip, he worked his way into my heart fast than you can say cupcake with all the charm he had.

3.5* and here's why; while this book had a lot of potential it never delivered for me. Don't get me wrong it was an OK read but it was at times a bit too cheesy for me. The chemistry wasn't working for me and I had a bit of a struggle to connect with the characters.

Now what I did like was the love Lip and Wavy shared. That was the (only) feeling i felt straight from page one. I did like how Longan ended up helping Lip. To be honest if this was written in two POVs maybe it would make more of a impact with me.

This was my first read by this author and I'm going to read more books by her because I'm hoping that this was more "it's me it's not you" kinda read.

If you are in a mood for a feel good and a fun sweet book with no added drama than this is the book . It was super cute , fun & entertaining read with no nuisances of bad characters or drama to drag the story. Logan and Lip’s characters were realistic and relatable. I loved their chemistry and banter. The story is heartwarmingly beautiful and I was left craving for more of Logan & Lip even after the story ended . It was like having a slice of chocolate cake that I indulged in one sitting, I felt satisfied yet I still want more of it. Definitely going in my re-reading list . This book deserves all the lip smacking stars ⭐️

I picked this up bec foodie-romances (where one of the MCs is a chef, baker, cook) is one of my favorites. But this book totally didn’t work for me.

I couldn’t connect with either MC. In fact, Lip grew irritatingly annoying as the story wore on. And I thought that Logan’s interest in her wasnt the true-forever-love kind. At times, I actually found his behavior a little douche-like.

I am also not a fan when a plot is trying too hard to make a situation funny. Give me witty, snarky banter any day vs slapstick hijinks.

I finished Lip Smacker last night and oh many did I love it! Logan (mr.heath, to me because I refuse to swoon to guys who share my child's name) was sooooo swoon worthy. Like seriously. And Lip, goodness she was such a great character! Strong and stubborn and I just really loved the way she was written.

This book was sooo sweet and super cute but also got me a little emotional, there were tears.

Definitely recommend you give this romance a try!

What a fun, quirky, sweet romance! Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker runs her beloved but struggling bakery, and takes care of her Grandmother. When her secret high school crush walks into her shop to offer to buy it for his employer, she is astonished at his arrogance. Not only was he cocky, and still sexy, but she was crushed that he didn't recognize her. Logan was more than a cold lawyer, he was kind, thoughtful and giving. He remembered the cute girl who watched him from afar and was intrigued and drawn to this beautiful and quirky woman who stood up and challenged him. The more time he tried to spend with her, the more suspicious she was at his motives. But she couldn't deny the sparks that flew between them. This story had me laughing out loud at times, then an emotional twist had me in tears, but mostly I swooned and felt myself smiling. Kelli Tager did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. She skillfully brought out all of Lip's awkward, vulnerable, and loving attributes, and I loved her performance of Lips fast nervous talking! I also enjoyed her different character voices that were distinctive and dynamic. This is my first experience with both this narrator and author and I would love to listen to more of their work.

Want a cute and funny and lighthearted read? Lip Smacker is where it is at! I laughed my butt off, had heartfelt moments, and adored this book. Alison G. Bailey created a wonderful world with her characters and story line!

Lip (Short for Elipheleta) definitely had issues with her name when she was growing up. The girl definitely had a tough time, to say the least. Her bright and shiny spot was Logan Heath the guy she had a MAD crush on back in HS, but he did not give her the time of day. Imagine her surprise when Mr. Heath walks into her bakery looking to BUY HER OUT. He is now the enemy!!! This starts a heartwarming and humorous tale that continues throughout the entire book!

I connected immediately to Lip, I think she is pretty awesome and is comfortable in her own skin, with a hilarious inner monologue. I will admit it took just a little bit longer for Logan, though he made up for it as well! I thought that the story line was engaging and although a bit predictable, highly entertaining with a few curveballs thrown in. All in all, if you are looking for a fun and humorous read, you will enjoy Lip Smacker!

PS: Thank you to Alison G Bailey and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
