Bedroom Producers Blog proudly presents GB DrumBox, a free Game Boy virtual instrument developed by SampleScience.

GB DrumBox is a sample-based Game Boy virtual instrument in VST, VST3, and AU plugin formats for any digital audio workstation on PC and Mac. The plugin was developed by SampleScience. The instrument is based on a set of freely downloadable Game Boy samples that were previously recorded and published by Bedroom Producers Blog.

You can download the audio samples separately here:

GB DrumBox is an eight-channel rompler instrument. It contains twelve drum kits, each with a set of eight Game Boy samples. The user can adjust the volume, pan, and decay time for each channel. The filter cutoff, reverb level, attack time, and modulation are applied globally. The plugin also offers multi-out functionality. If multiple outputs are used, the global filter and reverb effects will turn off automatically.

Hello Tomislav my friend, It is Dean (Nekro). It’s been quite a hot minute since I’ve gotten the opportunity to say hello man.
This looks and sounds quality and can’t wait to have some fun with it, So very much appreciated.
I do send my best your way as always and an apology for dropping off the face of the earth since I took the decision to completely veto all social media platforms which therefore has caused me to lose touch with many, many great people that I’ve gotten to know over the years through audio and music.
It was down to both personal reasons in regards to the way in which Facebook, Twitter et al harvest private, personal information on their users and do all sorts with it. Secondly also on a larger principle which was down to the manner in which such platforms were suspending, “shadow banning” and sometimes outright banning people over things they have said or posted linked from somewhere, Now the majority of which I more than often did not agree with the people’s views/opinions on a personal level yet I have always believed that speech/opinions are free/open to all/fair game so long as it does not incite/cause/lead to violent action in any form.
From what I have been able to gather all the silicon valley tech giants have continued to take things far further.
That said since I really miss the conversation with so many quality people from all over the world I am thinking hard about just biting the bullet and using such platforms again, As I never had any problems getting suspended and such due to using them to talk/share audio and music.
Sorry for the long comment, I just felt that I owe it to yourself and in time others that have and continue to make the audio community a great one to explain where I have been and pass on my best on behalf of my family and myself to yourself and your family and loved ones as always, The same sentiments to all also as always.

    Thank you Tomislav fella

  2. I discovered a bug regarding VST2 x64 and VST3 x64. In Reaper, when I load this plugin on a track, delete it and then load it again there is an instant crash. It doesn’t happen with second or third loaded instance. The first one causes this issue.

    OS: Windows 8.1 x64
    DAW: Reaper 5.987 x64

  3. Thanks so much for this! I can get the VST to work, but none of my DAWs see the AU version on my Mac. I’ve tried downloading it a couple of times. Any ideas?

  4. DAWに読み込んだけどCannot find any instrumentsと出て使えません・・・
    どうしたらいいですか?

  5. Great little plugin, can get AU to work on Mac but VST and VST3 not appearing in Ableton 10.1 or Reason 11.
Files download and are in correct folders and have tried downloading again. Plus also tried rescanning. AU works fine in Logic X and Ableton though.

  6. I badly want to use this plugin, but the way it functions in Ableton Live is making it impossible. The midi mapping for the drum notes is all over the place (spread randomly, and out of order, across multiple octaves) and I literally can’t find the Note On’s for 2 of the 8 channels even after rolling my finger across every note in every octave with a Launchpad. Why are the trigger notes not just mapped sequentially in a single octave? Also, pressing the drum buttons with the mouse on the VST window itself does not allow any note data to be recorded in Ableton’s sequencer, so I can’t even use the plugin that way.

Another user on Youtube has also confirmed the VST exhibits this same behavior in Logic, so it’s not an Ableton issue. Could you please (pretty please) update the VST to fix these issues?

    • lol same. in Bitwig it’s showing as:
      Notes: B0, C1, D1, E1, F#1, G#1, A#1, B1
      Order: 2, 1, 3, 7, 4, 5, 6, 8
      like.. urm.. what?

  7. Hi! Found out about this VST, I really dig the sounds! I use FL Studio, and imported it as a VST but I can’t actually record notes from it like I can with other instruments. How do you go about recording notes with this plugin in FL Studio?

  8. can’t download this thing!. why does it ask for a paypal account if it is supposed to be a free item?!, I gave my paypal account and the link refused to download the VST

    • there isn’t “VST3” file on my Mac, I put the component on the component file , the vet on the vet file. but the vet isn’t in logic when I restart my Mac
