Rate this book
The life of a session musician is rarely easy. After consecutive tour cancellations and a stack of unpaid bills, Chloe Bennett fears her dream has come to an end.

Then everything changes.

Indie rocker Reid Ryder needs a replacement violinist for his tour. For Chloe, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. For Reid, it’s a checkmark off his list. Already battling addiction, guilt, and his inability to write new music, Reid's hopeful that things are finally falling into place.

But life is never predictable.

When the tour begins, he finds himself drawn to Chloe. She challenges and inspires him. Their onstage chemistry is electric. To the outside world, they’re the perfect match. To those involved, however, it’s not so simple. When Reid’s no longer sure that the future he planned is the one he wants, a choice must be made.

4.5 STARS!!!

More readers NEED to know about Olivia Evans! Good lord, this woman can WRITE. The Prologue alone was fantastic If you love a slow-burn romance, with well-written characters that have depth, real emotion and absolutely no cliches, then you must read Brooklyn & Beale.

This is one of the best rock star books I have read. Olivia Evans paints a detailed picture of the life of a touring musician, with all of the temptations, pressures and pure joy of performing live on stage. I could almost feel the tension that Chloe and Reid felt before they stepped on stage each night.

This is a slow-burn story. Reid and Chloe build a beautiful and deep friendship and kinship. They are both brilliant musicians, she a violist and he the lead signer of a famous band. They go on a year-long tour world together and get to one another slowly, as friends do,

Reid is a recovering addict but he is not a one-dimensional character, my heart ached for him and the choices he made. Chloe is funny, smart, feisty and protective of her friend Reid. But their on-screen chemistry spills over into real life, as carefully as they wanted to stop that from happening,

Reid sucked in a sharp breath and leaned forward. In the cover of the darkened stage, his cheek brushed against Chloe’s as he moved his lips to her ear. “Please don’t hate me,” he whispered. He straightened his back, and with a gentle touch, wiped the wetness from her cheek.

Chloe squared her shoulders. “I don’t,” was all she said before turning toward the crowd and readying her violin for the next song.

This is a beautiful, sometimes painful, always REAL, honest and very sweet and sexy story. I applaud Ms. Evan for a creating an engaging and inventive storyline that drew me in and made me FEEL the characters’ emotions. Give this Indie author a try, you will be pleasantly surprised!

“I can’t lose you, Chloe.”

“Lose me in what way, Reid? I’m your bandmate. But beyond that, what is there?”

She was so much more than his bandmate, but he could never tell her that. “You’re my best friend.”

65% to the book and the Hero is still conflicted between his girlfriend and the "other" girl?!! Sorry that is not something I want in my romance. Only good part was the writing and the musical set up.Thats the only reason why I effortlessly kept reading despite feeling murderous annoyed at the guy.

Flipped through almost 86%, it takes the Hero that much time to make a decision? Ugghh.

Definitely not my kind of romance. Though one might like to read this book going by the high ratings it has.

This was a total waste of time for me. Giving up at 65%.

Not since Kellan Kyle have I read a rock/music book that gave me the feels. Now don't go getting your panties in a twist. I'm not comparing Thoughtless and Brooklyn & Beale... there isn't one. We're talking two completely different stories.
What I am saying is one hot rock boy who has to find who he is made me swoon and fangirl and not put down the book just like KK did.
Reid Ryder is all kinds of delicious but he's got a vulnerable side that makes readers melt.
I loved how author Olivia Evans gave readers that push -pull and internal struggle for Ryder. It gave just enough angst without wanting to scream "man the F* up."
Chloe was an awesome female character. A perfect balance of gorgeousness, badass, humor and talent. There isn't anything to not like about her.
One of my top reasons for loving Brooklyn & Beale is that the author took her time to develop a relationship between characters. Not just the main ones but all of them. I really felt like I was in the story alongside the characters.
Also there was no insta-love. Thank goodness. This factor made it such a worthwhile read because you could feel the build up.
I also enjoyed the fact that the author didn't rely on a character to be the asshole for readers to hate so you'd love another. It was a story about everyone finding their place amongst the group. It was a story of change... how life changes, how love changes, how people change.
Unlike so many stories these days, the author did not use gratuitous sex to propel the story foward and give it life. She used raw emotions and simple human nature to create an amazing story of finding inner strength and true love.
I never wanted to put the book down. I really hope Evans is working on more amazing stories.

5 stars!

I just stayed up all night and read Brooklyn and Beale in one sitting. It's 6:08 am, i started reading around 11 pm last night. I couldn't put it down.

I need sleep. Full review to come.

Let me start by saying Olivia Evans can write like no other. Her stories are unique and totally catch my attention. I stayed up all night to finish B&B so that should tell you how much it caught my attention.

It's been awhile since I've read a book that made my heart race with anticipation. And with Brooklyn & Beale my heart was all over the place. But in a good way of course. I was so invested in these characters, and was scared of my heart hurting. Because Olivia likes to pull at those heart strings.

I can't say too much about the story because spoilers suck....but I just want everyone to know this book is totally amazing!! I need a new book by Olivia ASAP!! I love when a book makes me feel. So come on Olivia....I NEED MORE! <3

I Don't Know

I really don't know that this is a love story between Chloe and Reid, more like a break up story of Reid and his long term girlfriend, because Reid is drawn to a lady new to the rock group, who happens to be Chloe. All the while that Reid is trying to convince readers he is 'falling in love' with Chloe he is still actively in love with Jess his girlfriend and they have sex when she joined them briefly on tour. I think this story is the opportunity of a girlfriend being cheated on by her rock star boyfriend with someone who he sees everyday.

I kept thinking about Kellan Kyle or Jake Wether being drawn to another woman on tour while our sweet heroines are at home, and finding an excuse to be with that woman at the end of the book. Actually Reid did not have sex with Chloe until the end of the book, which is good to an extent, because he cared for Jess, and didn't want to hurt her. He did at the end though. So, the pertinent question is, will he fall for somebody else, 5, 6 years down the road, if Chloe does not go on tour with him? Very excellent possibility that could happen.

I have loved Olivia Evans since a good friend recommend that I read Hollywood & Vine. What she brings to the book world is a fresh voice, unique stories, and characters to fall in love with.

Brooklyn & Beale solidifies her place on my must read author list.

What I loved most about B&B was the journey - the love that built from friendship to more. As a reader, I had a front row seat in experiencing this slow building romance from the beginning. I appreciated the fact that there was no instalove, no cheating, no added drama that many books have these days. This was an honest look at a musician's life - life on the road, the trials and tribulations that come with being in the spotlight and even more so, a look at what happens when choices need to be made with matters of the heart. When the choice is tough and is the difference between what you are used to and what saves you.

And speaking of the musician's life - I LOVED how music played such a big role through the course of the book. That Olivia took a chance and shared her poetic words with us as it brought us even closer to the characters - into their hearts and minds and for me, the musical piece really touched my soul.

If you are looking for a well developed story, with characters you won't soon forget and something that is different than what is out there - then look no further than Olivia Evans' books - ALL OF THEM!

I know that Olivia has more stories up her sleeve and I am SO looking forward to what she shares with us next. She is a new author that many should keep their eye on as I know in my heart that she will definitely rise to the top!

I really liked this book a lot. I loved the build up and the tension. Although I have to admit for me, my own preferences as a reader, it was almost too much. I like to see my characters be a couple for longer than I got here. I felt like he was with Jess just way too long. At one point towards the end I had to put it down cause I was so frustrated. Luckily it was just a misunderstanding so he was forgiven. I do like this writing and I can't wait for more from this author.

Review by Lisa Kane

Beale Street's where my story starts,
Brooklyn's where I found my heart.

Chloe Bennett is just looking for her big break. She looks like anything but a gifted violinist with her purple hair, piercings, and tattoos. She was classically trained, and in spite of her mother pushing her to play with an orchestra, she is a true rock and roll chick. Well she is about to get her chance. She gets a call to audition for Reid Ryder and his band for their Secret Visions Tour.

Reid's had a tough year to say the least. He has fame and money and talent. But he let drugs destroy him and he's paid the price for a night that forever changed his life. His girlfriend, Jess is his rock. When he first was discovered in a bar on Beale Street in Memphis, he stupidly broke up with his girlfriend. He lost himself and bad things happened. But when he had a chance three years later to get her back he didn't waste any time.

"I promise, Jess," he whispered. "I'll never break your heart again. Everything will be different this time."

She keeps him centered and he needs her to fight the demons that tempt him. But he is about to go on tour and his violinist broke her hand. So he finds himself in Brooklyn at an audition giving Chloe's playing a try.

Her long blond and purple hair, lip and nose rings were the perfect mix of sexy and edgy. Maybe that was the problem; she was far too attractive.

As for his relationship with his girlfriend, Jess, and how she would react once she saw Chloe, well...that had potential to be the worst kind of complication.

He is blown away; not just by her music but by the girl herself. There is something between them, but both remind themselves to keep things on a professional level. But once they start to tour together, they are drawn to each other. Reid hasn't been able to write music in ages and he's lost his edge to tour. But when Chloe is on the stage with him, there are sparks and magic and chemistry. He's not the only one who feels it-his band mates suspect something is going on and the fans are eating it up! Reid hasn't mentioned Jess to Chloe and she has no idea he is in a serious relationship. Bad move!

"It's only hard to be optimistic when it's about me."
"Then we'll be each other's glass half full. I'll take care of you and you take care of me."

There's lots of angst in this one. I do have to mention that the Star Wars references were a little over the top. They were too many and after a while I found myself skipping over them to move things along. But the story is a solid rock and roll romance. If you read Hollywood and Vine you will be thrilled to see Josie, Anders and Maddie again. My interest was piqued so I may have to check that one out too.

"You and me, we're supposed to happen. You're the one I've been waiting for and I didn't even know it. We can be something special; you just need to believe it as much as I do."

Olivia, I love this book. LOVE it!! You sucked me in with your fabulous story and amazing writing. You have written a book I LOVE. I literally couldn’t put it down.

Brooklyn & Beale is the story of Reid and Chloe. I don’t need to tell you their story. You can read it in the synopsis and in the book. But I will tell you this. Their story is amazing. It is so well developed and perfectly paced with a build-up that will have you cheering for them to make it and never wanting the book to end.

Brooklyn & Beale is not a book with insta love. Nor is it full of sex. It is SO much more. It’s a beautiful story of 2 people who go from bandmates to friends to lovers. And every part of their journey is amazing. Olivia will suck you in and you have you falling in love with every part of the book.

You will adore the characters. ALL of them. Reid. OMG. There are no words for Reid. He is far from perfect but he is so hot. The dynamic and chemistry between him and Chloe is off the charts. I was rooting for them to make it. I felt every emotion they went through. The banter and witty humor between them will have you laughing and smiling. And the other characters in the book? Fantastic. Every single one of them is well developed. I left so invested in all of them. They need their own books.

Olivia you have a gift- your ability to put words on paper the way you do is just that. A gift. Please write more. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

Brooklyn & Beale is a slow burn love story that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is not an overly steamy story. It is a story packed full of sexual tension. The banter between the main characters had me smiling ear to ear. What I enjoyed most about the story is the slow burn of two complete strangers falling in love. Neither character wanted to fall in love, after all, Reid had a girlfriend! Reid also had some demons he needed to overcome. Being a rockstar lead Reid to make some bad choices. Reid's life changes when he meets the new violinist, Chloe. Chloe is the perfect combination of sweet and sassy. You can't help but fall in love with the sweet purple hair tattooed girl. Everyone could feel the spark of heat radiating from Reid and Chloe when they were performing on stage. Their chemistry was hot! I kept screaming for Reid to kiss her. But Ms. Olivia makes us wait and wait. I was starting to feel like a tube of biscuit sitting in the sun! I was ready to exploded...until finally the big moment happens. It was then I realized the wait was worth it. I was a little sad when the book ended. I wanted to keep reading about everyone. I can't wait to see what Olivia Evans writes next. 4.5 stars!!! I highly recommend this book.

Brooklyn & Beale was a great read. I liked it better than Hollywood & Vine but I also think it had a little less drama than H & V so maybe that was it. The UST was crazy high, and I spent the whole book wondering will they or won't they (give in to their feelings) and even whether some of the side characters would do something different. It was really funny, sexy, and a little sad in places. The writing was excellent; I'd say it was Liv's best work yet! Well done!
PS Anders stole the show every time he rocked up and gave his two cents.

The weight

Damn that was so good. From the cover alone I wanted this book so bad. I'm glad to have gotten an ARC. This kind rockstar romance books aren't that many, the ones that'll give you the emotions, the highs and lows, the music and a great love story. This is one I truly liked start to end. That's something else since I was in slump.

Personally I'm a huge fan of rock + classical accompaniment. That's a killer combo a band that can do it is amazing. Here the whole band chemistry is worked like clockwork. After the mixing old with new layers, finding new soul it feels like its even better. The way the story started was a perfect intro, that prologue right away can't help it straight angst.

She's steel and silk
Soft strands in the wind, canvas of color covers her skin

I really liked Chloe , she's not the typical clean cut heroine but she's great. She fits in so well with the band, smart, understanding, a good friend and truly loves music. Can quote Star Wars too. Reid is a good guy, he had a rough time and still finding his footing. I like how they just clicked and all, it all just felt genuine. Even when Reid gets lost and brooding, Chloe finds a way.

The build up and tension between Reid and Chloe with a bit of triangle was perfect. Nothing felt forced or unsure, you can feel the development and the natural progression. It was meant to be in its own time. It was a slow burn in many ways and that's ok it had to be with this one.

Let me be, can't you see
He and I aren't meant to be

I must say I love a good unrequited story this was just pulled at me. There were times my heart hurt for Reid and Chloe. Times like oh swoon and the times I'm like Reid get it together man up, but I know it's not that easy. He was going through lots of adjustments, he was his issues to deal with, everything fighting for his head space. Subconsciously, he unloaded and he was himself with someone he didn't expect. Their banter and bond started out as friends but you can see the closeness that formed. I enjoyed watching that develop.

I definitely liked Anders here more and I loved his bickering with Maddie. I actually find that whole thing hilarious. I'm happy to catch up with the gang. All of them together was awesome. The secondary characters here were also crazy fun Greer and Drew provides lightness and Inky sure busted their chops. Good side characters make a story better.

All I have to say is I want more. A book with Greer or Drew or heck anyone but I will truly miss these guys. Heck if it could go on I'd like more. But I loved how this ended that was perfect. Olivia Evans did great on her second book and she made me like her older characters more as well. Her writing style here had a more poetic vibe that fit but flowed well. I feel like I'm part of the audience of a concert at times. I'm now a fan I can't wait for more books from the author.

I'm so glad I took a chance at reading this book! Olivia Evans was unknown to me and I bought this book without reading any reviews, just because of the blurb and I'm not disappointed al all. A beautifully written slow burning love story between a rock star and a violinist that joins his band four a tour. When the book started and a love triangle peaked I was a little worried but the author managed it quite well and the story unfolded in such a perfect way that it didn't bothered me at all.
Why not five stars? Although the chemistry between the mc's was undeniable, I wished more physical connection (if you know what I mean). All the rest was perfect :))

Almost 3 stars for me. I'm glad I read this one. I really appreciated author's patience and the slow build (I miss this in NA!) and I'm a sucker for a story with rock stars, music and songwriting. ***spoilers*** The resolution of the addiction storyline felt rushed (is he just fine now?), Chloe was so sweet it made my teeth hurt at times (this is probably my preference for flawed characters though) and it ended abruptly once they got together.

I have to say it - Olivia Evans is a diamond in the rough. This woman is a phenomenal writer and amazing story teller.

I am always hesitant to read a book from an author that I have not heard much about. And even after reading the blurb, even though it enticed me, I was still a little leery but I went with my gut and believed I wouldn't be let down.

Let me just say that when a prologue is able to give me chills, that sets the stage for me as to how well this book is going go. And Olivia blew me away. Brooklyn & Beale isn't her debut novel but god damn, she won me over as a huge fan with this book.

Ok...back to the book.

Brooklyn and Beale is a beautiful and emotional love story. There is no insta-love. There isn't the steamy and hot sex throughout the whole book. This book is about so much more. It's about finding ones self. It's about building friendships and relationships that will last forever. It's a story of change and growth. It's a god damn awesome story.

I love the characters that Olivia has created. Chloe is the perfect blend of badass, talent, quirky, and beautiful. Reid is a troubled guy who is trying to find himself again. He's talented, smart, sexy and fragile. The other characters are quite entertaining and are the perfect balance for the whole story. Olivia does a great job of developing all these relationships to show the bond that people form over time and how strong that bond can be.

Olivia made this story real. It's simple human nature and reactions and interactions that makes this story honest, raw and so real. You will find yourself half way through and praying the book is never going to end. I love how I felt everything from these characters. There is a lot of tension throughout and that helps propel the book forward and keeps all the emotions burning.

You really have to experience this book first hand yourself. I won't give you any parts of the plot only because I can't tell you one thing without having to tell you another. Everything ties together and I won't ruin this awesome story by giving one tidbit away.

"It was how he loved her that had changed."

Olivia - I am looking forward to reading so much more from you! As I said earlier, you are a DIAMOND in the rough. I can't wait to see where you take us next!

Wow! This book is just...WOW!

I didn't think that Olivia could out do herself after reading Hollywood & Vine, but she did! And she did it so brilliantly that I cannot wait to find out what else she has coming in the future!! It pulled me in from the beginning and didn't let me go until the end.

It was angsty, heartfelt, and all around fantastic!!
The main characters are lovable, with witty banter and undeniably intense chemistry!
Reid is a recently sober rockstar that seems to have it all and Chloe is a violinist that needs to catch a break, but what they don't realize is how much both of them need each other. So take a road trip with the band and find out just how wrong even the biggest star can be and how much you can learn things you never knew were possible when you take a chance!

Oh and one more thing....we get to see Josie/Anders & Maddie/Holden again!! *YAY!!*

“Let me be, can’t you see
Don’t point your damn arrow at me.
Let me be, can’t you see
He and I aren’t meant to be”

This book is definitely going into my top rockstar books that I've read file and there aren't many! Usually the rocker is so much of a dick I can never understand why the MC sticks around for him to be so called redeemed. Don't get me wrong Reid was a dick, he absolutely drove me crazy with his attitude sometimes, his treatment of Jess and Chloe. But he fixes his shit, so in the end I can be happy they stuck through it all.

The banter he has with Chloe performing is off the charts, I was reading and comparing it in my head to June and Johnny Cash, then next thing I know Ring of Fire comes up. Loved that! The UST between these two had me wanting Reid to just dump Jess sooner rather than later. His reasonings for waiting were lame. With that being said, I love who he is with Chloe. She's the bright spot in the book for me, I just wanted her to be happy.

We meet Chloe a talented violinist struggling to make ends meet. Meet Ryder a struggling musician trying to find his way. Ryder's original violinist broke her hand so he need a replacement. Ryder meet Chloe. Chloe meet Ryder also meet Drew, Greer, Inky, Tom, and Jess. Jess is Ryder's girlfriend. She was there when Ryder was going through a dark time.

I liked Chloe she was strong and funny. Ryder was living in his dark past. We follow them on their year long tour of sexual tension, heartache and eventually happiness.

I liked the story. I just wanted more details and interaction with some of the side characters we didn't get to see.

I loved this book! Was such a great story!

I'm a sucker for musicians looking for love.

Main characters Reid & Chloe had me from the beginning. Tension, drama of course and romance that had me swooning and sighing like crazy. Also they are super funny. I was cracking up while reading this on the train back and forth to work. You will be smiling a lot while reading this story. The plot and development of their love was written well.

This series by Olivia Evans has me hooked!

Loved this second book from Olivia Evans. It was enjoyable right from the start with witty banter, humorous situations, a ton of UST, romance, and just the right amount of angst. The two lead characters Chloe and Reid have some serious chemistry between them and some of the scenes, especially on stage, were described so brilliantly it felt like I was there.

Loved every word of this book and it gets an extra thumbs up for bringing Anders back!

I loved everything about this book!!

I'm a total angstwhore and this book scratched my itch in the most delicious way. The best part? Unlike so many other angst-filled books, I never had the urge to choke either of the main characters. There is no insta-love, the banter is witty and watching the relationship grow, while they both fight it, is just beautiful.

Solid 3 Rock and Roll stars. I really enjoyed Brooklyn & Bealeit. Both MCs were likable and their chemistry was combustible. However it was slow paced. The couple don't even kiss until almost the end and then there only a couple for about the last 5 % of the book. Just wish we got to see more of them as a couple. I'm kind of hoping there will be a seconded book with them dating in it.

I adore Olivia Evans, and I wish there were a zillion more books in this universe of her musicians.

This is set in the same world as Hollywood & Vine, but takes place after. You don't have to read one to enjoy the other, but I would recommend reading Hollywood & Vine first.

There are a lot of rockstar romances, but Olivia Evans writes compellingly about music where most other authors fall short. I LOVE IT.

So I've never read a romance novel like this, and because of that, this is going to be one that I reread. It's a very slow burn and the hero is .

These relationships are complicated, and I think that might be why most authors stay away from them. It's not easy to write characters like this who behave in very real ways. The hero and heroine do get their HEA (because, duh, it's a romance novel), but it seems like some of their story is left for us to decode.

Everything does not have to always be rushed. Sometimes a slow burn to love is just what is needed.

Reid and Chloe are finding their way. Finding their way to each other. They take their time and discover what love is. There are some moments of tenseness. There are some tears that need to shed. There are some laughs to be had. There are some bouts of anger. There is a story.

I love the fact that Olivia does not glorify these characters. She holds them responsible for their actions. Reid is flawed, nowhere near perfection but he owns that. Chloe is strong and determined. She is her own person and she wears it well.

But more importantly, are the words that Olivia uses. Her words are magic. They are a balm to the soul. They tell a story that resonates with you forever. And this story will resonate with me until the end of time. Great job Ms. Evans, great job!
