The Defiance Falls Trilogy: Suspenseful Sports Romance Kindle Edition
Blurb for Defiance Falls, Book 1:
All I wanted was a little trouble. Okay, so maybe choosing Cruz Donovan’s 18th birthday party wasn’t the way to go about it. Three years ago, I fell for him. I thought he fell for me too. But when he broke it off, he took my heart and, as if that wasn’t enough, he took my best friends too.
They aren’t the same boys I knew before high school started. They’ve got all kinds of secrets they’re keeping from me. If I want back in, I’ve got to be ready to play their game. I might be a killer soccer player, but I’m not real eager to join a team when they won’t tell me who the opponent is, how to score a goal, or what rules I’m supposed to be following. I’m in the wrong place at the wrong time, a pawn in games I don’t understand. Maybe I never should have gone looking for trouble in the first place.
Is it too late to change my mind?

Book One… Defiance Falls
Something very strange is going on and it seems to be revolving around Hazel Ross, a high school superstar. She excels in everything. Her grades are 4.0+, she’s a soccer phenom and she is somehow in the middles of a feud between two family empires. … Cruz Donovan’s family and the Malones. As usual, family empires don’t grow for generations by being on the straight and narrow. Secrets, secrets and more secrets are maintained and protected. These may be high school students but they are far from innocent. The good guys and the bad guys face off. Answers are sought, demanded … even if getting those answers means kidnapping and drugging the innocent and unaware.☠️
Book Two…. Revolution
Things start to really heat up. Secrets finally are revealed and Hazel learns about the Malones…. the crime ridden dangerous Malones, the Malones that have used her as a pawn since her childhood. As she learns more and more secrets, battle lines are drawn. This is not some simple jealousy between two powerful families…. this is good vs evil, winner takes all. And Hazel's revenge? Priceless. 😱
Book Three… War
United We Stand, Divided We Fall. Here’s a BIG hint…. They don’t fall.
But getting there isn’t easy. There is revenge, attempted murder, shootings and enemies behind every street light. Hazel and Cruz have some rough times, in every way imaginable. While I love Hazel’s taste for vengeance, I love even better that the Malones finally get to meet a long, lost relative who wields her own form of justice. Her name is Karma. And Karma is a beauty.⏳
👁OBSERVATIONS:
... Often I would find myself skimming because some of the characters were too immature. I had to keep reminding myself that these are only teenagers so I couldn't expect adult behavior. However, they are involved in a very scary, adult world so that made me cringe at the immaturity. At times, in book one, I wanted to jump in between those pages and tell Hazel to grow up. Yes, she was out in the cold when it came to knowing things, but her childish actions didn't lend credence here.
... I also skimmed when the script seemed to too windy and detailed or drug on when it didn't matter. Hence the four starts.
... I kept wondering about Hazel's mother.... wondered if she ever would show up. Wondered if she ever thought about her daughter. But, that might be for another book.

I was reading this in parts so the cliffhangers... Oh boy! I was dying to read more and waiting was really killing me.
Second part full on action, mysteries and secrets started to be revealed and slowly Hazel is put in place where she needs to decide if she can handle what was hidden from her. She doesn't have a comfort to choose if she is ready for this life after the revelations. She cannot run from what she was sheltered. Is she strong enough to endure the truth? Is she strong enough to endure Cruz and his feelings? I love the side of Cruz that showed his alpha ways and his protectiveness, not only toward Hazel but also his father and his closest friends.
This book was exactly what I was waiting for. The story line progresses and the tensions is being build. Who will outsmart who? There are so many twists and turns and it is action-packed that I read it in one sitting. Great book and definitely a must read.
Oh wow! I don't know how to write the review of this awesome story and not give anything away. Let's just say I didn't expect the plot to go into the direction author so skilfully directed it to. Third part is more about emotions, about changed reality and struggle how to fit in the order our characters find themselves after all that happened in part two. There's still danger lurking, no one can, neither should feel truly safe and there's a lot of action to keep the reader interested. Really serious twists to the story line that kept me reading and I was not able to put the book down. I loved how author showed struggles of each of the characters with the post Malones' reality and weaved the story around it at the end giving all of them a little teenager normalcy they all deserved.
I couldn't imagine better ending for the fantastic trilogy and I love how author adjusted her writing style in comparison to her other series. I hope we could in some point of time read more about any of them or all of them again.
