My Bestie's Ex (The Rooftop Crew Book 1) Kindle Edition
He's not a sweater or a skirt.
He's not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.
In my defense, I didn't know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn't know who he was before I fell for him, because he can't be mine.

A little about us... We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. This was the first book I have read by this amazing writing duo and I can say for a fact that I will definitely be reading more stories by these amazing authors.
Sierra was not likeable, immatur, selfish and self absorbed and then the glimpse into her having a relationship is not appealing. the first chapter makes me like her even less
My Besties Ex is the first book in a new series titled The Rooftop Crew by my autobuy author duo Piper Rayne. This book hooked me from the start. The heroine Blanca is a strong, smart, sassy go getter who has just flipped her life upside down to chase her dreams. Ethan is the wary, guarded, tender and confused hero of the story that you fall in love with.
Blanca has just upped and moved her life to be with her high school best friend to finally chase her dreams and along the way she meets shy, kind and funny Ethan. Their chemistry is instant and sparks fly. Chance encounters keep occurring and the more they’re around each other the harder it is to resist. Little do they know, they’re already linked in a way neither of them could imagine.
Piper Rayne hits the nail on the head with this book! The authors dive into a trope that is not well explored and that goes against the ‘Girl Code’ and writes in a way that is effortless, easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable. I did not put this book down. The banter, friendship and drama (just the right amount) kept you wanting to devour each and every page. The secondary characters enhanced the book in a way that reminded me of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S group dynamic and I CANNOT wait for the rest of the gangs book.
Overall I found this book a MUST read of 2020 for any and every romance book fanatic. Piper Rayne did not disappoint with this sizzling, new start to The Rooftop Series and I can’t wait for the rest of the gang to get their own books.

Blanca quits her boring finance job with no plans for what will come next. She walks out of her old office and comes face to face with her childhood bestie Sierra after parting ways for college. With their friendship rekindled Blanca ends up moving away from the city and to live with Sierra on Cliffton Heights and is quickly welcomed into a new friendship group.
Blanca meets Ethan after a chance encounter on a train ride home from the city after visiting family. The attraction is instant and the chemistry between these two is intense! As the title suggests there is a slight hiccup in the plan - Ethan is Sierra's ex...Blanca is stuck with choosing between her bestie and her boyfriend.
I absolutely loved this from the start, right through to the end. It was such an easy to read book with plenty of intrigue and anticipation to keep you hooked and wanting more. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series and being let into the lives of the other characters I meet here.
I am beyond excited that Piper & Rayne have a brand new series - The Rooftop Crew - and by the amount of minor characters featured in this book we are in for some great stories to come.
If you are a die hard fan like myself, you would have already been introduced to Blanca Mancini, but if you haven't read the While Collar series, don't fret - as this book is obviously book one in a whole new series and it is like starting from a clean slate.
I did wonder how this writing duo could overcome the taboo side of a best friend dating the others ex. But I really should have known that these two could pull it off and actually show both sides of the equation. It was exceptionally well done.
Now the epilogue to this book hints at who's book is up next, and by the snippet I just read I think I will need to buckle myself in for what is only going to be a wild ride!!

My Bestie's Ex is the first book in The Rooftop Crew series, however if you've read Piper Rayne's White Collar Brothers series, some of the characters who make appearances in this one will be very familiar to you!
Blanca Mancini needs a change. She's been working as a bank teller, but that job is just not what she wants to do long term and quite frankly, she's just not happy. She ends up reconnecting with her best friend from childhood who encourages her to move to the small town where she lives and to move in with her. While it will be quite the change from NYC, she's game. She gets a job as a journalist at a small publication called Mars and Venus and she's looking forward to her new start.
Ethan has not had the easiest last year. He's not only dealing with having broken up with his girlfriend of over a year, he's also dealing with family stuff and working in a job where not many, if any, people really like him. He is using his job as a springboard to get to the type of publication he really wants to work for, but he knows he's got to bide his time. When a new co-worker shows up, he's not expecting the sparks that fly.
When Blanca and Ethan meet one another on a train back from the city, the chemistry is immediate. They enjoy spending time together and when they encounter one another in another location, the sparks are no less present. When they figure out that there is another tie between them, will it end up tanking the budding relationship before it really gets off the ground?
I really enjoyed both of these characters. Blanca is a strong woman, partially because of her three older brothers, and I loved that she was so independent. Ethan was fantastic and there was just something so great about him. I really enjoyed how this one unfolded and I'm looking forward to what we have coming with the next book in this series!

"My bestie's ex" left me with more than one question...starting with: What kind of Italian name is BLANCA?
I mean, I've only been Italian for 32 years as of right now, and yet I've never seen or heard this supposedly Italian name. It only reminded me of the electric beast from Street Fighter and yet that one wasn't set to be an Italian character. Excuse my little rant, but I kept it to myself for 26 chapters, at which point I actually quit the book and not for the name of the protagonist I promise.
I've lots of respect for writers, it is difficult to write but even more it is to write quality. After having invested in a book so much time (26 chapters = 75% of the book) it says a lot that it couldn't keep my interest to push me to get to the end. I agree with one other review on the fact that many of characters featured in the book come across as real clichès and sorry, but why Blanca should care about the opinion of a friend she just met again after over ten years I do not know.

When we meet Blanca she has just quit her job in finance which her heart just isn't in. She bumps into an old friend as she is leaving, one thing leads to another and she is moving away from the city and moving in with her best friend from childhood Sierra.
Through as series of accidental meetings, she bumps into a guy on the train, there is an instant connection, she then discovers he is her new work colleague! Ethan's number one rule is he doesn't get involved with colleagues! That didn't last long!
It was fab catching up with Blanca's family who we all met in the White Collar Brothers series! As always with Piper Rayne stories I love all the side characters and I can't wait for them to get their own stories!

Also I'm never getting tired to say that Piper Rayne are getting better and better with every single book they write!
I get to know Blanca through the White Collar series as the baby sister of their three brothers. Yes, you will also get a glimpse how them in this book.
The meet cute between Blanca and Ethan was a coincidence but the spark was immediately there. Okay, it's more than a spark. It's been whole firework!
Ethan tried very hard by putting those sparks down till he wasn't able anymore. How he fought with himself! But Blanca was pretty good in fighting him in his own battle.
As he couldn't fight it anymore their firework turned into the burning sun.
But the book is called My Bestie's Ex for a reason.
I felt so helpless for both!
I wanted them together.
They belong together!
Why do such codes/rules exist when you get unhappy by following them?
My heart hurts again for Blanca and Ethan!
I mentioned he fought with himself in the beginning before their love became the burning sun ... well, he is also pretty good in fighting for the one he loves.
My Bestie's Ex is not only a story about finding and keeping your love. It has more layers; it's going deeper.
I highly recommend this book to you!
It's a must read you don't want to miss out!
