"No one gets to tell you what’s possible and what’s not."

Rising West is a rockstar romance with not just one but two rockstars. Mason West was on the right track to making it big four years ago, but then tragedy struck and his life fell apart. Now he's living the life of a single dad working construction and doing music on the side.

All it took was the right person at the right place and the right time finding Mason playing. Now, he's being recruited to be the lead in a band that's a pretty big deal. All of the band is stoked to have Mason, all except Liberty. Honestly, it took a while for me to warm up to her but once I did I really liked her.

Mason was so easy to love. A damaged man, an amazing father, and a rockstar. What's not to love? I adored every scene with Mason's daughter, Brooklyn. I loved how Liberty became a part of their family with some time. This was an emotional and sweet romance that dealt with grief and guilt.

Wow! Alyson Santos really knocked it out of the park with this one. She has such amazing writing skills. She writes with so much intensity that the characters spring to life from the page, gripping you to the edge of your seat. When you're reading her books, no matter what sweet indulgent torture she's putting you through, you just can't seem to put the book down. It's just that good!

Rising West is not your typical rock star romance. It's about true musicians who have suffered much blood, sweat and tears to get where they are in life. It was an emotional, riveting, fantastically gut-wrenching ride that hooked me from the very start. Mason and Liberty's harrowing journey really packed quite a punch. If you love genuine rock star romance that brings out all of the feels, then please be sure and snatch this book up. Five stars and more!

Literally me while reading this book:

Reads. Loses breath. Stops.
Reads same lines again. Eyes fill with tears. Loses breath.
Reads same lines again, highlights passage, shivers over how heartbreakingly lovely this whole thing is.

This whole thing.

Y’all. This is the first book I have read by Alyson Santos. Why has nobody insisted that I read one of these books before now? This is my exact favorite flavor of kindle crack: beautifully written, deeply emotional, swoony, sexy, and smart.

Mason West wrecked me. I loved him so fiercely, but he was such a broken soul. His character arc was such a deeply, sometimes darkly emotional experience and it was absolutely rewarding in the end. I adored every single piece of him. And I adored, even more, how simply and easily Liberty loved him. I appreciated that the drama wasn’t the type of drama you might expect from a storyline like this. I loved how steady and confident Liberty was in her feelings and her own role in Mason’s life. I loved the little family they formed and how the whole storyline was handled with a sort of respectful, raw honesty.

I loved the writing.

Have I mentioned that?

Holy cats. It was sooo good! It was almost lyrical (and not just when it was actual lyrics) without being too flowery. It literally took my breath away sometimes. The thoughts and emotions that Ms. Santos poured into these characters were so powerful and touching. This was an absolute treat to read and I will certainly be back for more. Loved, loved, loved this unconventional rockstar romance. So glad I took the chance on it! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

I absolutely loved this story.
I am a fan of this author’s writing and storytelling talents, so it’s no surprise that I loved this as much as I did.

This deeply emotional story had my attention, and my heart, the entire time. Mason gets a second chance at doing what he loves…playing music, being a rock star.

This beautifully written romance had some serious subject matter that was penned with care and gentleness. The feels were coming off the pages in waves, sometimes making my eyes leak, and sometimes making my heart swell with so much happiness.

I just wanted to wrap up Mason and a certain preschooler in a big hug so many times. They quickly stole my heart from the very beginning. I felt their love, I experienced their pain, I craved their happy ending.

Liberty was equally awesome. Together, she and Mason had a connection that was strong and they understood each other and the pull toward each other was powerful. I so loved them together.

The rest of the band was highly lovable and intriguing and I would love to read their stories. The NSB mention was a delightful surprise. (I still swoon over Luke.)

The poetic words of this author have wowed me yet again. Loved it!

The audio narration was pure perfection. #NAILEDIT.

My second book by Alyson Santos slayed me, my heart and soul wide open. The story of Mason West is an incredible experience to follow. It's raw, it's real and full of emotions that will blow your mind. At the end of the book you don't know where your head is because you witnessed something beautiful: the rise of a broken soul
This story, even though it will make you cry and smile, even though it will make your throat close and your heart heavy, this story will make you strong.
My emotions are still are all over the place. And these characters grew on me. Mason's place in my heart is a given until further notice.
Thank you, Alyson Santos for giving us your beautiful, thoughtful, inspiring and poetic words! Your writing style is mesmerizing and spellbinding! ❤️

Rising West struck every single one of my emotions and played them in a beautiful haunting melody!

5 "Says who?" Stars

A new Santos favorite out of her repertoire of wayward rock star stories. Rising West digs deep into the tortured heart of Mason West, our hero while conversely showcasing a strong heroine in Liberty Blake. Both characters are facing personal battles with separate sets of circumstances that give readers plenty of intrigue. I was engaged in this story, told from dual perspectives, from the very beginning. It's a great book to highlight the delicacy, care, and passion Alyson Santos has for her characters and their precarious lives as musicians.

What I love about this slow burn romance is how human the story becomes as it's not about "rock stars" but of two people who are fractured and battling and evolving into their best selves. There's no outside, forced angst or superfluous drama but rather a consistent, humming thread of conflict that provides so much more depth and significance to the story. Rising West is also an ode to friendship and the importance of those meaningful connections. The relationships between the characters are healing and fortify who each of the main characters want to be as human beings.

Santos has a true gift for taking a subgenre (rockstar romance) and turning it upside down to create stories that are unique and compelling, character driven, human interest stories. You can't help but fall in love with Rising West thanks to Alyson Santos brilliantly executed story telling and engaging writing. I very much look forward to discovering more of the Turner Artist Family world.

‘Did I see him first? The way he breathed music and bled poetry from a stag the never saw him coming.’

Alyson Santos mirrors our souls when it comes to capturing the way we feel about music in Rising West, the first book in her new Turner Artist Rocker series. Based around the rock star signings of Turner Artist Management company, we meet their latest find in the reclusive and very sensitive, Mason West. Not only does Alyson Santos capture the heart of the music, but she also captures the emotion, the turmoil, the excitement and the technical side of the music industry and we were transfixed by Masons grasp at fame from the very first page!

“What do you want, Mason?” I look up into his face and trace his jaw when I see it clench. “Does anyone ever ask you that?” Just when I thought there was nothing more painful than sharing that silence, his stripped, broken voice shatters it:
“I want the sun to rise in the west.”

This author delivers her music knowledge in a somewhat poetic, almost hypnotic prose. It’s beautiful and renders the heart at one with the sad and lonely Mason. This man truly does have that sensitive artist vibe and his story tore at the very fabric of our hearts.

‘Tomorrow I will be lost again, but tonight I’m home.’

Mason West has seen more heartbreak in his young years than many see in a lifetime. He’s crippled with insecurity and questions every aspect of his worth – his musical ability, his ability as a father and his worth as a human. He’s plagued by guilt and is his own worst enemy as he fails to see the beautiful and talented human others clearly see if only his inner voice would give him a break.

‘What’s left inside the shell of a could have been rocker whose soul aged faster than his years?’

After a once-promising career, a series of heartbreaking and painful events see Mason struggling to make ends meet by working in construction and a single Dad to an adorable little girl, 4-year-old Brooklyn. His thirst for performing is quenched by playing to a few bar patrons at The Fat Eagle pub, on every now and then. This man is extremely talented and soon catches the eye of the agent, Sam Turner.

Sam is looking for a replacement front man for Burn Card, a successful band consisting of the brilliant Liberty Blake, her twin brother Aaron and their friends Mitch and Tivo, and until recently, their lead singer Chris Lundstedt, who has left the band to pursue a solo career. Mason is asked to audition, and from the outset, it’s clear he has what it takes to bring Burn Card to the next level. But can the band agree on him as a replacement? Will Liberty be the stumbling block to Mason’s second chance at success? What lies behind Liberty’s reluctance to take on Mason as their new lead singer? After all, he oozes talent, charm and incredible good looks!

‘This isn’t the kid who believed he owned that stage four years ago. This is a man who doesn’t know where the hell he belongs anymore….’

Oh the romance of this story! Both Liberty and Mason had so many issues to deal with and despite their personality differences, we believed in them every step of the way. Alyson Santos sure did give us those rock star vibes we crave. The unique way in which we glimpsed into Mason’s past was beautifully done, giving us the opportunity to see Mason through another set of eyes.

‘Mason can’t dream because he has no idea who he really is. So I guess the question is…Can I believe enough for both of us?’

We loved Rising West, the story and the characters…little Brooklyn completely stole our hearts! We can’t wait to meet Sam Turner’s next signing when Falling North, the second standalone releases in April!

Mason and Liberty had their own "ghosts" hunting them in different ways. Both are a strong characters, very likable. The story is well written and is clear that in the author's veins runs musical notes instead of blood. This story is emotional and inspirational. You can feel the emotions through the pages, with Mason as a single dad, pursuing his dreams and dealing with his past and loss.⁣⁣⁣

This is Alyson at her BEST. This book was emotional, gripping and raw. Mason and Liberty have chemistry that is off the charts but also have baggage that weighs them down. So low. They both have to learn to live again. Learn they are worth all of the good things in life. There were points of this book I was so engrossed in the story that I forgot I wasn’t actually in it. The biggest tag line of this story is “says who?” Who says they can’t have it all? Well, no one does after they both come together and realize they can do everything. They can be everything, they can do anything, together. Mason and his amazing daughter add a little bit of sadness but also some much needed comic relief. She is a bright ray of sunshine in his dark world. She was the bright ray in my world too! Love this book and these amazing characters. They will infiltrate your heart and leave you with all of the feels!

Rising West was an amazing read, beautifully written that hit me right in the feels pulling me in from the beginning.

I've cried a lot reading Mason's story, his past is heartbreaking and his present is a pendulum swinging back and forth from hard to hardest moments and from dark to darkest thoughts until he meets Liberty and her band, the Burn Card, who will give him a glimmer of hope.
Will he shake off all his insecurities and finally see the Sun rising? Or will he succumb under the weight of his sullied conscience?

"So tonight you cry.You grieve. You do whatever you need to do, but tomorrow, you fucking rise."

I think I've loved every single story written by Alyson Santos and after I've read a snippet of next book I can't wait to pick it and read the full story.

Mesmerizing. Different. Devastatingly gorgeous.

The need to shower Rising West in superlatives comes as no surprise when it's written by Alyson Santos. The girl is the queen of unapologetically magnetic rockstars. They struggle with their place in the world—due to circumstances—due to a troubled past—due to a talent so big it's difficult to harness.

In Alyson's world, "shallow" doesn't exist. Prepare for literary romance written for an intelligent audience. Get your cotton candy elsewhere, and when you're ready for the real deal—for realism—for twists you couldn't have foreseen—a love so deep you end up crying on the subway—that's when you open Rising West.

You know how reviews say "She did it again?" Well, Alyson did do it again.
Mason, with his incredible talent and his feet firmly planted on the ground, choked me up and through me for one hell of a beautiful loop.

Rising West is a book hangover waiting to happen, one I wholeheartedly wish upon you.

I'm normally not a big fan of Rocker Romance books, but Rising West was a hidden gem. I loved Mason's character and how much of a down to earth guy he was. He was sweet, normal, and not the stereotype of a frontman in a famous band.

His and Liberty's romance was real...it had trouble, it had obstacles, and it was real.

What a pleasure it was to be given this ARC for a review. I’ve read 5-star “fun” books and 5-star great books but it is a VERY RARE pleasure to read a brilliantly penned, fantastic story with characters you wish you could meet. Her musical background led to a level of authenticity that further enriched the story. I didn’t want it to end.

This novel does deal with depression which can be a sensitive subject but it was so tastefully and tactfully written and was a critical part of the story. Bravo! One of my favorite things was how each chapter started with a past journal entry before launching into the present.

Mason is such a sweet and loving man who adores his 4 year old spitfire of a girl. I adored Brooklyn and Alyson used her character to further enlighten the reader’s knowledge of who Mason is deep down. Then there is Liberty who is exactly what Mason needs. There are so many touching and poignant moments in this book. I’m usually pretty stoic but this book pulled the emotion out of me and boy did I tear up.

All in all, a fabulous “rags to riches” rock star book without drugs, groupies and ridiculous behavior. It was a breath of fresh air!

Oh My Goodness! I didn't know what to expect with this new novel but I absolutely fell in love with it. The tragedy, the friendships, the undeniably adorable Brooklyn.

Mason seems so vulnerable and good, its hard to see how anyone could hurt him. The character was magnetic. The tragedy that both spurs him on and holds him back is heart breaking but that doesn't make the story too dark as his new friendships lift him up. Liberty has been burnt and at first that makes her resistant to connecting with Mason on any level, thankfully she can get past that. As always Alyson Santos writes beautifully on the matters of mental health, grief, insecurity, self doubt.

This is the first book in a new series from Santos, and I'm already hooked!

I evidently have been living under a rock to have missed the writings of this talented author, Alyson Santos. This story kept me glued to my kindle in the wee hours of the morning because I just had to know it all! The characters in this story just took my breath away. Single Dad and rocker turned roofer after being forced to leave his dreams Mason meets the next band of his dreams when he is discovered by one of the most sought after managers on the rock scene. Unfortunately the leader and female keyboard artist, Liberty, is not ready for this amazing new singer, song writer, guitar playing male god. I am telling you that if you too are new to this author, you need to prepare yourself emotionally for this ride. I was simply blown away by this story and look forward wholeheartedly for the next installment in this series.

Must read Rockstar romance! 🎶

Rising West has everything you could possibly want in a rockstar romance that you just won't forget. Alyson Santos has once again given me a story and a man that has pulled hard at my heart. Mason West is a tired, young single dad, who's sweet little girl is his reason for pushing on. His dreams are slowly going down the drain, reality is setting in and it may be time to forget all about them.

Watching Mason's heartbreaking journey, just trying to get through each day in one piece while trying to gain enough confidence in himself to to find his true soul in music is only part of the story. I fell in love with funny, precious Brooklyn as much as I did her sweet, broken father. Then Liberty, who came on at first like stormy weather, yet somehow like a sunny day....between her intense, quirky personality and her welcoming band mates in Burn Card, I couldn't read this book fast enough, but also didn't want to see it end. Having people in his corner, caring about him was everything Mason needed. I looked forward to the beginning of each chapter for the thoughtful glimpses into the past and how they shaped and restored Mason's resolve to be strong.

Written by one of my 'go to' authors who is also a musician herself, gives this book some amazing insite that drops you right into the studio with the band. The joy gifted artists must be feeling when they find that inspirational connection that shared creativity brings into their hearts and souls...so amazing. I felt it like I was sitting there with them, the mark of a talented writer for sure.

So Rising West is huge YES...try to read this book as soon as you can. It's a slice of beautiful perfection...bring a few tissues, your heart will definitely be touched!

This was my first Alyson Santos book and I’m mesmerized by this story and these characters. From the first line to the last, the words sing off the pages. The symphony of words tell such an engrossing story, I was hooked from the first melodic line.

The anguish and self-doubt are incredibly palpable from Mason; his heartache and torture bled off the pages. Liberty’s pain from the betrayal she went through is something most everyone can relate to in their life. Even though there were outside forces impacting their lives, this story is truly about Mason & Liberty’s perseverance to themselves and those they care about.

This book is beautiful. This book is haunting. This book is hypnotizing. This book is an anthem of “who says”. “Who says” you have to believe what you’ve always been told you CAN’T do? “Who says” you are only one thing? “Who says” you can’t overcome and have EVERYTHING you’ve ever dreamed of? WHO SAYS?!

Don’t bother chasing the sun when you can BE the sun.

I highly recommend this book.

5+ RISING STARS!

Alyson Santos's stars will definitely be rising with this book. She delivers another brilliant story with all the feels in her previous novels times a hundred! Emotions seeped from every word and saturated my soul.

Mason West is an up and coming rock star, a deep and complicated character who suffered a tragic loss that was compounded by betrayal. He turns his back on his future to make a life for himself and his newborn daughter.

I was dazzled by the chemistry between Mason and Liberty, the feisty lady rocker who is in complete denial about their attraction for one another. But it was another relationship that stole my heart. Is it okay to admit that my favorite couple in this gem was Mason and his four-year old daughter, Brooklyn? Whose heart wouldn't turn to mush while reading about a hot and tormented rock star whose priority is his little girl?

This is a phenomenal story with beautiful writing and I hope it brings Santos all the recognition and success she deserves!

Although the reasons we read books are endless, it's rare that the words reach out and grip your soul... but that's exactly what Rising West does. Alyson Santos goes beyond the typical rockstar romance and to shine a spotlight on true musicians and the stories and heartbreak that have shaped their lyrics.

This isn't a cheesy plot with glossed-over scenarios and a sprinkling of musical vocabulary for effect. This is real, authentic, character-driven writing told in a voice that resonates long after you reach the last page.

5 Star Review of Rising West (A Turner Artist Rocker #1) by Alyson Santos

I am not sure where to start this review , other than to say that Alyson Santos knocked this one out of the arena. I was riveted to this book from the first page until the last and could not put it down.
Mason West is a single dad to beautiful Brooklyn and they are about to have their world turned upside down; Liberty Blake is the women that will bring him to his knees and in doing so they will find a love so overpowering that it was almost blinding.
Both Mason and Liberty have issues and personal demons to face and I was blown away how Ms.Santos was not afraid to take the readers on a deeper journey and tackle issues such as depression and self worth. Issues that are very prevalent in today’s society and often ignored or overlooked.
Rising West is an emotional roller coaster of a read that will get to you on many levels as she peels the layers off Mason and Liberty like an onion. The writing is strong and she is not afraid to write about characters who are flawed and it is this that I appreciate and relate too.
Such is the power of the story telling that there are times when reading this author, that I can almost hear the music playing.
This is a slow burn romance with so much heart and soul and one I definitely recommend you one click.

This was my first time reading Alyson Santos and she did NOT disappoint! It’s been forever since I read a good rockstar romance and I was really in the mood! Rising West hit the spot in more ways than one. A beautiful, broken, sweet, talented rock god/single dad meets his new band mates and falls head over heels with the only female in the band. YES PLEASE!

Mason West is beyond sweet. He’s kind, thoughtful and an amazing daddy to a little girl. But times are rough for Mason, and when the opportunity of a lifetime falls in his lap he makes the trip out West to LA to take a chance that could change their lives. Mason has definitely had it rough and when he meets Liberty their chemistry is explosive.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved watching Liberty fall for Mason and watching Mason learn to forgive himself and finally embrace the life he deserves. This was a really quick read. It’s hard to put down while keeping you totally engrossed. I loved the contrast between the sweet romance and the rock band back drop. If you love a good rock star romance you’ll love Rising West!

A heartbreaking yet beautiful emotional journey! Rising West will leave you feeling raw and fulfilled at once. You’re definitely going to want to have tissues on hand because this is not your average rockstar romance. This is a story of grief and healing, learning to believe in oneself and learning to believe in others, heartbreak and falling in love...I could go on and on with all the heavy hitting emotion continued in the pages of this book but it would never fully do it justice.
I admit I really wasn’t sure if this was going to be a book for me at first. I found myself frustrated at times with the amount of negative emotion Mason constantly directed at himself, but after a while I found myself understanding him a bit more and becoming sympathetic to all he went through that caused him to be the way he was. I really found myself beginning to truly connect to Mason and Liberty once they finally came together. Not only was the chemistry these two had incredible but they genuinely brought out the best in each other.

I was privilged enough to receive an ARC copy of Alysons recent book....what can i say WOW!!

Everything about this book gave me goosebumps its beautiful.

Im nor someone that cries a lot but i did reading this, the characters are so well developed and interact perfectly you can feel what they do to the point you want to help them get through the hard times and celebrate the good ones.

Alyson certainley knows how to write complex main characters like Mason and Liberty.

I can not wait for the next book in the series beacuse uf its as good as this one it will blow you away.
