Doughn't Let Me Go

It was just supposed to be one night.

No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.

Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again.

I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting.

Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.

Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.

What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.

Sounds simple, right?
Right…

Doughn’t Let Me Go is the third book in Teagan Hunter’s Slice series and this is the one I’ve been waiting for. I’m such a sucker for the single dad troupe, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on his book. This was funny, heartwarming, and the sweetest.

Porter is a single dad who just moved from California to a small town in North Carolina with his daughter. He needs a change of pace, and his best friend Foster lives here, so that’s where he landed. He’s running his company remotely, but he needs a nanny to help with his seven year old daughter, Kyrie.

Dory and Porter meet at Slice and they have a spark. There is something between them, but when they learn that Dory has applied to be Kyrie’s nanny, the breaks get put on real fast. Spending time together isn’t easy, but they make it work for Kyrie.
The good news? My daughter is still obsessed with her. The bad news? I think I am too.

One of my favorite things about this was Kyrie and Dory together. I loved the little nicknames they had for each other, and watching Porter with Kyrie and how much he loved her, it made me love him even more. Porter and Dory’s story was fun, but it had some heavy topics (mostly related to their childhoods/pasts). Seeing how different Kyrie’s childhood would be because of how much love they gave her… it was just the best.

This book has humor, heat, and heart in spades. I’m in love with this series and I’m hoping we get more from this world. Teagan Hunter’s books are always fun to read and this one was great!

Oh my gosh i devoured this story. It was short, witty, steamy and packed with alot of heart

Porter is a single dad to 7 year old Kyrie and a very successful business man. After he moves to a small town on the east coast from California he needs to hire a nanny to help with his daughter. After having a one night stand with the woman he now wants to hire as a nanny as she is perfect for the job he must remain professional and try not to act on his impulses however hard that may be. He is strong, caring, compassionate and has a generous heart aswell as beung vaulnerble and having insecurities. His daughter Kyrie was such an amazing character and added to the story so beautifully

Dory is a young independent college student who did not have the best home life growing and wants nothing more than to become a social worker to help children stuck in difficult situations. She is trying to stay a float and making something of her life so when she applies for a job that sounds perfect and pays well she thinks this could be it, little does she know that she had a one night stand with her would be boss the other night. Dory is independent, funny, kind and sweet as well as guarded when it comes to letting people in

I loved Porter and Dory's dynamic and watching their relationship change and grow was such a joy to read. Their chemistry was amazing and everything about this story felt so natural and it was such an easy read

This is my third book by Teagan Hunter and my favorite so far.

These days, I want to read really sweet, heartwarming love stories which will make me go AWWW, and this book fits that bill perfectly.

In a nutshell, the story of this book was about Porter and Dory. They have a one-night stand and under certain circumstances, Dory ends up as the nanny for Porter’s daughter. From there, they navigate their relationship to their HEA.

The storyline was pretty predictable; I felt like I had the whole story figured out just from reading the first chapter. I knew what the major plot twist was going to be from the very beginning.

That sounds very cliche, and this book is very basic in that way and that’s what I loved about it. The storyline is the same old but written really well. The plot flows smoothly and its development is seamless.

OMG, I totally fell for Porter’s daughter. She had so much sass and personality in her character. I couldn’t help but make googly eyes whenever she came up with a sarcastic remark. I like to think I was like her when I was her age.

The rest of the characters were good but nothing out of the world amazing.

I was looking for a simple love story and I am fully satisfied with what I got out of this book.

I'm a sucker for single dad stories and this one was a real winner! An amazing father, a sympathetic nanny, and a precocious seven year old made Doughn't Let Me Go quite the entertaining and hilarious read.

Porter was:
🍕 patient, understanding and kind
🍕 incredibly hot and sexy
🍕 a fabulous dad. Not too strict and not too lax. He found an interesting balance that worked for him and his daughter, making me want more time spent on them and their every interaction.
🍕 he came from poverty and with sheer determination and a certain set of skills, turned his life around and became a multimillionaire. He appreciated everything he was able to accomplish and didn't act entitled or 'posh'.
🍕 he and his daughter absolutely made this story for me. I couldn't get enough of them!!

Dory was:
🍕 a hardknock story who was struggling to dig herself out of her hole
🍕 a sweetheart who didn't always act sweet. Poor Porter had to work WAY too hard for little reward.
🍕 fantastic with both Kyrie and her father

I loved how The Slice played such an integral role in this story. It's always great when a place is not only where the meet-cute happens, but that it serves to continue helping to make memories. And how can you go wrong with pizza? With terrific writing, wonderful characters, humor and so much feeling, this is an easy book recommendation to make.

Single Dad | Small Town Romance

Teagan Hunter writes some pretty special romances. I always find myself getting excited when she's writing a new book ESPECIALLY when it's written in one of my favorite worlds. In this case, readers will be brought back to Slice (I can’t remember the name of the hometown I’M SORRY). You'll see a few familiar faces from previous books and will meet some new characters that may have already caught your attention. In this one, readers will meet Porter and Dory.

Porter is a single dad who just moved to the area and is looking for a nanny. He's been divorced (which was really hard for everyone involved) and isn't looking for love, but somehow his new nanny who he may have slept with prior to interviewing her, starts catching his heart. How can a man who has no intention of falling in love start healing his heart to make room for someone else?

Dory has been through a lot in her young life. She’s just trying to get by and go to college to become a social worker, but money is tight, and her dreams seem to be moving further away from her. But when she gets a call for an interview for a nanny position, things start to look up. Too bad the man she has an interview with is THE man she hooked up with the night before.

Experience the feelings of love and humor with Dory and Porter as they navigate their forbidden relationship! Readers will swoon for these two and cheer them on from beginning to end. I love Porter as a single dad, his daughter is the cutest PRINCESS, and seems to love tea just as much as I do! Dory is a realistic character, one many of us may see pieces of ourselves in, so connecting with her is a breeze!

Don’t miss this one, friends! Teagan has a wonderful series here and I am always looking forward to more.

➸ (James) Porter Jones: 28, Single father, Divorced, Owns internet security business, Multi-millionaire, Foster's best friend

➸ Dory (Doris) Palmer: Almost 21, Social work student, Nanny, Struggling financially

➸ Content Warnings: Divorce, Financial distress, Neglect, Talk of addiction

My Thoughts
Every time I read a Teagan Hunter book I'm reminded why I love reading so much - because it's fun. Her books are so witty and sweet and I just want to climb into these worlds. The characters in here are so relatable and precious, and Porter definitely gave my love for Foster and run for it's money.

Kyrie, Porter's daughter, is officially my favorite fictional child. She was so funny and adorable and every time she made a pro/con list my list-loving heart grew three sizes. She was beyond precious.

I also loved that this book was minimal angst and low drama. It covered some heavy topics - childhood neglect, absentee parents, divorce, financial struggles - but it never felt heavy.

Porter and Dory's relationship was really sweet. But I did feel like it moved quick and I wish we had gotten more time of them together. They spent a lot of time trying to convince themselves and each other that they didn't want commitment. I loved the epilogue and wish we could have seen more of them as an actual couple because they were adorable!

Foster will forever by my OTP but Porter gave him a run. I loved his relationship with his daughter and found his character really snarky and hilarious. Overall I loved this book and desperately hope there is another book in this series for Sully. Because I need it.

Loved this book! After I read I Knead You Tonight, I was actually hoping we would get Sully's book instead, so I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Porter's story, especially because I'm not a fan of single dad romances. Also, even though I loved Porter and this is his book, my favorites are still Foster and Wren, and this book just solidified it.

This was a pretty great book all around. I loved Porter and who he was as a person, and how he took care of his friends and daughter. He had a great personality and I so wish we got some actual tequila time with him. I liked the heroine, she wasn't the best, a little too judgemental for me, but I liked how she stood up for herself and how she isn't a jealous person, but truly just wanted to know more about Porter and his past. Jealous heroines are always an annoyance so I'm glad she wasn't.

There was no OW/OM drama, except the hero mentioning a past ONS, wasn't a big deal, but she was an intern and the heroine is his nanny. So the only 2 ONS he has had were employees which was a bit weird. Normally it would bother me more, because I feel like it takes a bit of the specialness out of the MCs relationship, but because of who the hero was, he is the type to get attached and emotional, and he regretted it, I was fine with it. He also mentions his ex wife quite a bit, maybe a bit too much, but I felt like it was more realistic, and she is out of the picture, so it wasn't too bad.

Overall a great book, and I'm actually really glad we got Porter's story, though I'm so hoping Sully is next. Can't wait to see more of these characters if the series continues.

Jesus, Mary, and Porter.

I loved this book. But that's no surprise since it came from the mind of Teagan Hunter. I know exactly what to expect from her books and that's a good thing. I devoured the book in one morning. The story between Dory and Porter was funny, sweet, and heartbreaking. I especially loved Porter because he reminds me of my husband. Minus the multimillionaire part. Dory's perspective of kissing and sex was so relatable. That little twist (which I'm not going to say, you'll just have to read it yourself🤷🏼‍♀️), was so beautiful. It really made me love Porter even more.

Am I swaying you a little?? Read the damn book!!! You won't be disappointed!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This was a fun little slice (yes, I went there) of a story that put a smile on my face. This was a witty, entertaining, and light-hearted story that really hit the spot.

I really liked the characters in this story but I thought that they could have a little more depth. I liked where the author took their backstories and how their pasts affected them in the present, but I felt that there could have been a little more there. We kind of get the tip of the iceberg, so to speak, where their personal histories are concerned. That aside, both main characters were easy to relate to and so likable. I just didn't feel as connected to the characters as I would have liked because I was wanting a little bit more. I very much enjoyed all of the side characters, including Porter's little girl, Kyrie. Reading this book has made me eager to read the other books in this series to get closer to the secondary characters.

The romance in the story was almost like a slow-burn but not at the same time. Porter and Dory have definite chemistry when they meet at the pizza diner. They may have decided to have a one-night-stand that night but their conversation sparked their interest in each other. Their attraction to each other definitely continues from there. They carry on a physical relationship and try to keep their feelings out of it but they eventually find out that they are in too deep.

I liked the overall plot of the story. I thought that the idea behind their meeting was humorous and played out rather well. I felt that there could have been a bit more conflict in the story though. The main conflict is more of an internal one so the story is more of a bumpy ride down a country road than a rollercoaster ride. I did enjoy the author's writing style. The narration was very smooth and was easy to read.

Overall, this was a fun read that is perfect for a lazy day. It is packed with humor, heartfelt moments, and a push and pull romance that you can't help but root for. I am excited to see what is next from this author.

Please doughn't let this book finish. I'm obsessed. I need more from Porter, Dory and Kyrie. They're close to becoming my favourite characters so far and damn did I adore Wren, Foster, Drew and Winston's books!

I apologise for the pun above but fair warning in this book this will get instantly punny. It's shake your head while a smile imprints on your face funny, humour so don't worry you'll be devouring every line like me.

Porter is a single dad, who's moved to the town his best friend Foster lives in, since he's said it might be the break he needs after a rough divorce from his ex leaving him.

Dory or Doris, is trying to make ends meet with nearly three jobs so when a stable interview to be an in house nanny comes her work, she'll do anything to not ruin it. However as it seems luck isn't something that likes to side with her.

Dory and Porter have one night in heaven that causes trouble for when Dory is one of the interviews for his in house nanny job. Yet, despite them knowing it can never work out with this job, he can't help looking over her application and connecting to her.

When pleasures already been ensued and now it's business they need to handle, it's only about time when pleasure seeps its way back in through their undeniable connection.

A but of secret relationship of moment rendezvous while taking care of one of the funniest, adorable kids around. That Kyrie competes with my adoration for Teagan's other minx in I Can't Text This, I can't help loving her just as much.

A must read story that will have you on your toes anticipating more. It's got a high heat factor with not much explicit content but enough to have you needing more. With Teagan's signature snark and humour she wraps this bundle of a single dad, nanny romance to perfection with minimal drama and so much finesse.

I loved seeing past characters and having great laughs on their side. I look forward to book 4 in this series and maybe finally learning who Sully really is!

Single dads is one of my favorite jams to read. I was loving me some of Porter and his hilarious 7 year old daughter, Kyrie. She needs a nanny and Dory is the perfect gal for the job. I thought Porter and Dory were an awesome couple. There wasn't any unnecessary over the top drama with them, they had some serious hot chemistry and banter between them. I had a good time reading this. I really enjoyed every character in this series, they were all fun and entertaining. It's like I want to be friends with all of them and hang out and eat pizza!

I was pulled right into this story. This story contains secrets, love, laughs, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
A Pizza My Heart (Slice #1)
I Knead You Tonight (Slice, #2)

This is Dory and Porter‘s story. One night that was all it was ever supposed to be. That is until you get hired by your one-night stand. He’s a single father and knows she can help him out. They can fight the attraction, right? Nope that is about to tested to the limits. Can they make a future from what should have only been a night?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

Porter is a single dad, but when he gets a free night to do what he wants, he takes full advantage. Enter Dory. Dory is trying to take a night to relax before she interviews for a job that could change the course of her life. She never expected the guy she spent that one night with, would be the guy she had to interview with for this job. The two agree, one night was it, that’s all it can be and Dory becomes the live-in nanny for Porter’s daughter. However, the sexual tension becomes too much to ignore and they decide it can’t hurt to scratch the itch. They’re just having fun, no feelings, just fun, but is fun all they’re really having??

Porter is the most amazing father. His relationship with his daughter, Kyrie, was beautiful, and to watch how Dory becomes entwined with them…my heart almost couldn’t take how perfect they were, even before they allowed themselves to start feeling more for each other. I absolutely loved Teagan’s texting series, but the Slice series has become my absolute favorite by her. The banter between all of the characters is hilarious but also meaningful at the same time. And the sass on Kyrie, girl is like my spirit animal I swear, she may be small but that sass was mighty and I loved every minute of it! I also love that we get to revisit the previous couples and get a peek at how they’re doing! Honestly, one of Teagan’s absolute best books I’ve ever read, hands down!

Doughn't Let Me Go is book three in the Slice series. It can be read as a standalone but if you read the previous ones you'll notice some characters you know pop up. Porter is hot single dad. He runs a successful business. He seems to have his stuff together but he still some things to deal with. Dory a hard worker. She's saving money to pay for college so she can be a social worker. Money is tight for her. She down to earth and nice. She takes a live in nanny job for Porter. These two have great chemistry. They both have hold ups on moving on in a relationship. This one had the prefect mix of funny, romance, and some heaviness.

I adore single dad stories, especially when there is a special bond between father & daughter. This had that, as well as some smart banter between the two, this time though, it wasn't enough. Page after page I kept hoping to feel a spark, something to have me actually care about the two MC'S. Nothing happened, or very little. The story was light, easy to read, the seven year old girl was feisty & I just couldn't feel very much for any of them. This is obviously a case of it's not you it's me. I've read one other book by this author & thoroughly devoured it. Hopefully I'll enjoy her next one. This is a stand-alone with a HEA.

i loved kyrie, the little girl in this trio. she's so sassy and smart, and have the best comebacks ever. porter and dory were cute from the start, i liked their interaction, and i loved that their romance essentially started in a pizza place (i know that the first two books also revolved around slice but i haven't read them as of yet.) dory's really kind and she's the perfect fit into the father-daughter duo. she has the best heart. porter's a gentleman. he understands why dory has her reservations. he was always supportive of her, and i liked that very much.

Single dad are some of my favorite books, and when a single dad is such a good man, it makes me even happier. Porter was such a fantastic dad to Kyrie and I loved their interactions. Sometimes love breaks barriers and is super messy. That is what happens when Porter meets Doris. He just knows there is something there. When she shows up for an interview the next day to be Kyrie's nanny, hilarity and love ensues. They fall for each other even though they shouldn't. Love doesn't always follow the rules.

DNF @ 21%. Nope. Just can't do this. I don't really like either of the characters. Porter is way more skeezy than I can appreciate and I'm just rolling my eyes at Dory and her whole Pretty Woman "sex is fine, but no kissing" thing. I also am not a fan of the Single Dad / Nanny trope. I've enjoyed several other books by this author, but this one just isn't for me.

Single dad romances are always a must-read for me and I must say that Teagan Hunter nailed this book! Doughn’t Let Me Go is the story of Porter and Dory who are trying to fight their attraction to each other...and doing a bad job at it! This story is full of laughter, love and emotional moments that will have you reading this story in one sitting. You will fall head over heels for Porter and Dory and root for their HEA!

This is the third edition of the Slice series and this book is all about Porter and Doris (Dory). Just keep swimming, just keep swimming - I don't know about you, but whenever I say that name, I have to add the song as it is the best kids movie! Ok back to the book.

Porter is Foster's best friend when he was living in California. He had been encouraging Porter to come and live in NC and it is just the right time to see if it is a fit for him and his seven year old daughter. It takes time running a business from another state, whether you are a multimillionaire or a billionaire, (potato / potahto) you will need a nanny to help out and this is where Dory comes in, she had experience and came highly recommended from Drew as Dory babysat little Riker in book two.

It really hurts me to say, but this is not my favourite in the series. Some aspects I was totally on board with, but others just didn't gel with me. I can't go into much detail as I don't want to add spoilers at all, but some things didn't quite add up. His job situation was one and the high-flown angst was another. I also couldn't relate to the non kiss condition. I think Dory took it too far, and this could just be her age and innocence.

I was happy with the final outcome and if anyone deserves a HEA it was these two. They both had experienced heartache in one form or another and they were two opposites that needed to be together. The epilogue was sweet. What's next, I am not sure but I am anxious about Sully's story and when that might happen. Fingers crossed he is next.
