Review
"Frost's second Night Rebel title is a fierce and satisfying sequel, brilliantly fleshing out two vibrant characters in ways that feature their surface power and irreverent attitudes but also spotlight the internal courage and nobility which make them perfect for each other. The hurtling plot and outstanding worldbuilding frame a poignant, character-driven romance that explores unconditional love and self-acceptance... A breathtaking paranormal romance." — Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
"Frost’s utterly enjoyable second Night Rebel novel delivers all the sizzle, sass, and suspense that make this paranormal world such a thrill... Amid fierce battles of wits, weapons, and magic, Frost highlights her characters’ courage, growing self-acceptance, and unshakable love for one another... This pulse-quickening romance succeeds on every level." — Publishers Weekly (starred review)

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020I love this author's work. She's one of my favorites. But I should have remembered there would be some sort of cliffhanger that irritates me, even though th book was awesome. It's best to wait for the next book to come out. It's not one of those "ends mid sentence" books, but still... okay, done complaining. The book was a good read once I sort of remembered what happen in the previous book. Interesting and fun characters. Unpredictable storyline that will keep you in high anxiety mode. Ian and Veritas are great characters that you feel invested in their adventure because they're both likeable. It's a wild adventure with some chuckles in the dialogue. A great read. Well accept for the part we will probably have to wait forever for the next book so I've just made myself irritated again about the ending. I'll get over it because I love this series almost as much as the others.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2020I jumped right into book 2 of the Night Rebel series after finishing the debut of Ian's story. I was unexpectedly overcome by the love that has developed for me and this couple over the first in the series. Ian was never my favorite character of the series line, but it was impressive the drastic transformation Frost gave to his character in the first book of the series. Once we dive down to his "gooey center" I have overcome with the captivation that his character offered me. Veritas was a mystery at the start of the series with glimpses in previous storylines, but she is the perfect match for Ian. Book 2 jumps right into the continuation of this story with despair for the way things were left in book one. Knowing the depth of love between Ian and Veritas readers will be overcome by the intensity of emotions carried throughout this book. As the storyline grows and this couple battles the odds it is uncertain where their future lies with their inability to catch a break. Heartbroken to find myself caught up with the series and awaiting the next book in the series, but rest assured the conclusion sets readers up for an action-packed and romantically intense continuation in book 3 when it comes available.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2021I’m just so charmed by these books!
Though I had gotten burned out on some of this world a while ago, I’m finding that the “Night Rebel” books are absolutely the cure to my malaise.
This book is fast-paced, sexy, cute, and wraps up the major events of the first book, while hinting at adventures yet to come.
If you’re a fan of Mercy Thompson, Jane Yellowrock, Ilona Andrews, these books are definitely for you!
Sizzle: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Great chemistry, well written scenes, and just enough smut to make it worth our while.
Ship potential: 🚢 Oh, I ship Veritas and Ian. Boy, do I EVER ship Veritas and Ian.
Feminism Fails: Okay so this a weird one but... I’ve recently become embroiled in a debate about whether or not a certain word for male bits that starts with “c” denotes a male gaze, and I can’t let it go! I think overall this book does great things for feminist literature (which, IMO, is the most exciting thing that romance literature has going for it). I feel sad that Veritas had to give up some of her power to be with Ian, but I feel like that might change soon. Overall very few fails, and I’m heading back to my dark corner to ponder this whole male appendage word situation.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2023Please note that if you have NOT read the first book of this series, there may be minor spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.
To say I devoured this book is an understatement. I’m not sure I’ve ever read/listened/consumed – take your pick – a book faster than I did this one. Wicked Bite by Jeaniene Frost is the second book in Veritas and Ian’s story. Shades of Wicked ended on a brutal cliffhanger. Ian is without his memories, yet he remembers how he felt about the little Law Guardian and is determined to find her. Veritas is wallowing in her own grief and attempting to fulfill the vow she made to her father to hunt down the souls released from Dagon when the story opens.
Veritas is one of my favorite characters to read. She is not a damsel in distress, she can kick your butt if she needs too. She is fierce, loyal, and despite all the bad things she seen and experiences, she remains good at her core. How can you not like her? Here we see a different side of Veritas. Her carefully cultivated emotional walls are crumbling. She let her other half out to play, and she has no idea how to stuff that and her feelings back into the proverbial cage she let them out of. Her entire world has upended, and to make matters worse, the man she is running from, the man who made her feel, the man who loved every piece of her is hunting her down, and she doesn’t know why.
Ian is Ian. There is no other way to put it. Of all the characters we’ve met in this series, Ian is the one you can count on no matter what. He’s always brought levity to the story, and he does that here, but also we are finally seeing what no one else has seen: his decency and goodness. Ian has a heart of gold, a depraved, sex-focused heart of gold, but still gold. Veritas sees straight through him like no one other than his sire Mencheres does. I love seeing this side of him. His single-minded focus to find her is endearing and of course he does it in true Ian fashion 😉
There is so much I could unpack about the plot of this one, but *SPOILERS*
Overall, I loved this one just as much if not more than the first. Ian and Veritas are simply perfect together. The banter is spot on. The action which drives the story is exciting and engaging. I absolutely did not want to stop reading it (sorry to the girls I buddy read with, I totally left them behind 😅). If you are a fan of paranormal romance and urban fantasy and haven’t read this series, I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have per gli amanti del genere

5.0 out of 5 stars So good
If you loved Cat & Bones, Spade & Denise, Vlad & Leila you are going to adore Ian & Veritas. This book is so good.
I read it in one sitting, it had me laughing out loud at the snarky remarks, reading faster & faster at the action bits & by the time I'd finished it, it felt like I had run a marathon.
I am absolutely looking forward to the next one in the series. An absolute great is all I can say. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
