In a landmark speech in the eastern city of Mulhouse, France, Macron said:
We must never accept that the laws of religion can be superior to those of the Republic…..Islamist separatism is incompatible with freedom and equality….We are talking about people who, in the name of a religion, are pursuing a political project, that of a political Islam that wants to secede from our Republic…..In the Republic..we cannot accept that we refuse to shake hands with a woman because she is a woman. In the Republic, we cannot accept that someone refuses to be treated or educated by someone because she is a woman. In the Republic, one cannot accept school dropouts for religious or belief reasons. In the Republic, one cannot require certificates of virginity to marry.
Those words are characteristic of so-called “populists” in Europe, but they are striking coming from Emmanuel Macron, a globalist leader who is now presenting himself as having experienced a change of heart. Of course, his U-turn is likely a matter of sheer expedience, as European populations are waking up to the tricks of the pervasive stealth jihad, and Macron faces a stiff electoral challenge from populist Marine Le Pen. Macron also said:
In the long run, the threat posed by legalistic Islamism to the liberal democratic system is greater than that of jihadism … They aspire to an Islamist order, but are prepared to allow certain democratic elements within that framework. For this reason, their extremism is often barely recognizable at first glance.
So now Macron is using populist talking points to try to keep his grip on power:
That Macron, a staunch foe of populism but, at the same time, a good reader of his nation’s collective psyche, would highlight the negative impact of Islamism on French society is also indicative of a trend that can be observed throughout Europe.
Let’s hope that the population of all Western nations wake up before it is too late. Jihad by immigration is already changing the demographics of the EU, and that change could be irreversible.
“Emmanuel Macron’s War on Islamism Is Europe’s Future,” by Lorenzo Vidino, Foreign Policy, February 24, 2020:
“We must never accept that the laws of religion can be superior to those of the Republic.”
With these words, delivered in a landmark speech in the eastern city of Mulhouse on Feb. 18, French President Emmanuel Macron launched his government’s strategy against political Islam. “Islamist separatism is incompatible with freedom and equality,” he stated, “incompatible with the indivisibility of the Republic and the necessary unity of the nation.”
The Mulhouse speech, and its harsh language, came as no surprise to anybody who has followed the French debate on Islamism over the last few years. Terms such as “Islamist separatism,” “communitarianism,” and “Islamist supremacism”—which in previous years constituted the vocabulary almost exclusively of the National Front (now National Rally, Marine Le Pen’s far-right party)—have become ubiquitous.
The term “fréro-salafiste” has also become mainstream. It covers the two Islamist trends critics accuse of promoting separatism in the country: the Muslim Brotherhood (Fréres musulmans in French), with its moderate façade but divisive agenda, and the Salafists, with their firm rejection of French society.
“We are talking,” Macron said in another speech last April, “about a secession that is sometimes insidiously installed because the Republic has deserted or has not kept its promises. We are talking about people who, in the name of a religion, are pursuing a political project, that of a political Islam that wants to secede from our Republic.”
The trigger for France’s heightened concerns about Islamism has unquestionably been terrorism. The trigger for France’s heightened concerns about Islamism has unquestionably been terrorism. Since the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January 2015, in fact, the country has been in an almost constant state of alert. It has experienced massive attacks, like the November 2015 Paris attacks and the July 2016 Nice truck ramming, and an almost monthly slew of low-intensity acts of violence often perpetrated by individuals linked to or simply inspired by the Islamic State. It is also the European country with the dubious honor of having contributed the largest contingent of foreign fighters in Syria—some 2,000.
The assessment among many experts inside and outside the government is that the “lost territories of the Republic,” as areas where government control is weak and where crime and Islamism thrive have come to be referred to in some quarters, were the perfect breeding grounds for this phenomenon. Two recent books by Hugo Micheron and Bernard Rougier, which have received huge coverage, have clearly shown that while marginalization, crime, and unemployment were important factors in causing France’s radicalization wave, even more crucial was the separatist environment created by the so-called fréro-salafistes. In substance, they argue, nonviolent Islamists provide a conducive ecosystem that aids the recruitment efforts of jihadi groups—a position, to be sure, that is not universally accepted.
But France’s concerns about Islamism go well beyond terrorism. Critics argue that nonviolent Islamist groups, while largely operating within the boundaries of the law, propagate an interpretation of Islam that drives a wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims, contributing to polarization and harming integration. Europeans are concerned about the growing sway of Islamist groups that seek to push members of local Muslim communities to detach from mainstream society—mostly through preaching but also through various forms of social pressure, intimidation and, occasionally, violence— and resort to alternative legal, educational, and social systems…….

sounds like 180 degree turn. does he know that wearing a hijab is already ‘radical’, fundamentalist. The hijab, burka,… is not in koran, if you might except it as the religious part of islam. Pretty sure he will turn around again soon and continue with making Notre Dame a mosque….
Roger Woodhouse says
He sees power slipping away and is now appealing to the centre right.Alittle bit of ‘popularism ‘isnt going to save him though. Its gone too far for anyone on the left to save France.
Daniel Triplett says
Talk is cheap. Action counts. Macron has had years, and the entire French Government apparatus, and all of Robert Spencer, et al, books/essays to understand and act upon the threat of global Islam.
Too little, too late.
Unelect this self-serving fool and put a real leader in power: Marine Le Pen.

Yes,it is a bit late in the day for macron{or “Jupiter” as he calls himself}to start growing a conscience, smelling the coffee..smoke. .and noticing how his country is disintegrating. But the French voted for this moron.

Yes and they will vote for another moron who promises them a true ‘socialist utopia’.Thats what the French do.

I agree 100%, however even Marine Le Pen may not be able to save France from Islamization.

We have been told hopeful things in the past. Macron, when he was first in said he would make a French Islam & no foreign sponsors of mosques allowed. He has had a few mosques closed but their are many many more & no matter what anyone says, there is the push to take over by population ruled by Islam (warlords) and break off from whatever country they live under. We see this in USA too more than most people know.
Roger Woodhouse says
We see it here in the UK too but the masses turn a blind eye.At the moment most arent affected by this desease called Islam. Our people are being denied the truth by the leftwing media particularly the BBC .Their time is hopefully running out .

Well, good. The problem is that both of these things are orthodox Islam, which Macron is almost certainly ignorant about.

“Well, good. The problem is that both of these things are orthodox Islam, which Macron is almost certainly ignorant about.“.
This is not something I would worry about. Macron knows certainly all about the Islamic ideology, and I have no doubt he realized what is happening in the country for a long time.

Were this the case, Lavéritétriomphera, I think Macron would be doing much more to protect the French people.

The only thing stopping Macron from making yet another 180 degree turn is a survey that shows support for Le Pen growing. Sincerity will never leave his mouth.
Michael Garant says
He is simply applying the tactics of taqyia learned from his friends and those that he keeps France’s frontiers open for.. He is still surrounded by and works with islamists….so believing that he has had an awakening …..hum, I don’t think so. He is bought and paid for by the financial globalist elites.

Still flailing. France needs a new leader, a de Gaulle type. Macron simply doesn’t cut it.

Far too little, far too late! On his watch he has overseen the destruction of France & its Society in General. Murders, rapes, something like 800 “No Go” Areas, deliberately set up by Muslims. Boulevarded suburbs turned into shitholes. tourist areas likewise & he did nothing. Just sat there in denial, like his sycophantic politicians to satisfy some vague “project” that would improve France & Europe. He is flopping around to try & save his political career. There should be a huge clear out of other French politicians as well for letting this mess be inflicted on France & its citizens. These rats will be running around trying to find a life raft to save their careers. Macron will nip off back to ‘Banking’. Ho;pefully, he & others for this debacle will meet a stickier end!

Can’t help but agree with Michael Garant re his taqyia comment; trying to curry favour with the populace to remain in power at next elections.

Laws of religion will never take over laws of France? They will laugh at him and cite him for blasphemy. Separation of Church and government is so important but religions will often not agree. Even here, and islam will slip in using our system. At least Jesus said give to Caesar what is his.

If Macron and other wishy washy ( or maybe just stupid enough to still not get what islam is all about) western leaders are finally waking up to Islam’s evil nature, then that’s good, but, in a democracy it really is all about waking enough of the average members of society up so that they will vote for leaders who will stop stupidly letting Muslims into the country and will kick as many of the Muslim invaders out as possible. If the electorate wake up and vote the types of tough leaders into power that we need and stop voting wishy washy clowns like Macron has been into power, and others like him, then the huge problem that Islam represents can be solved. The average people in the western countries have to wake up. Maybe Macron is genuinely waking up, as even the slowest of learners should have done by now, but I think he is far too wimpy a person to do much at all.

The idiot left will just say that “populists” who questioned Islamism first were being prematurely counterjihadist, just like the idiot left (e.g., Susan Sontag) said once the depredations of communism were exposed that conservatives had been prematurely anticommunist.
The idiot left used to sardonically claimed it was prematurely anti-fascist during the mid-1930s–a good thing–but it leaves out the bit about when it suddenly became pro-fascist with the signing of the USSR-Nazi Germany pact.

I love how this idiot Macron says things like religion is not supposed to be superior in France.
But never seems to address how a supremacist, political system such as islam is going to be able to coexist, let alone be able to be “submissive” to the French law.
Doble talking jive!

In the title of this article the term “political Islam” was rightly put in quotes . This is because that term used by many in the West in current times is “political Islam” That term is, in reality redundant. This is because Islam is in essence, a religious /political Sharia law based system.
As so well explained in brief way, by the Muslim tyrant who and ruled Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini when he stated that “All Islam is politics.” [1]

I live in NZ. We have a leftist, Socialist PM currently in power. She made the front cover of Time magazine recently. It will be one year this month since (what is now known as) the “Christchurch Massacre”. When it occurred the PM donned the “teatowel” on her head and other women foolishly followed suit. They called it a show of “solidarity”. To add to the mix, the PM allowed an Imam to recite the Islamic prayer in our House of Parliament. Our current Speaker of the House had previously kicked out the prayer that had been used since Day One. Horrendous event in March 2019 – there is no doubt. The forthcoming commemoration in Christchurch this month will show NZ as country that has caved in to a geo/political organization without any question whatsoever. Outside one mosque in Chch is a banner with the words “Allah bless our country”. Need I add more apart from “God help us!”
