As the African proverb says, however long the night, the dawn will break. However long the Boeing crisis, something positive will finally break, for example, for the 777X program.

Vietnamese start-up Bamboo Airways confirmed being in talks with Boeing on 12 of its newest widebody twinjets 777X, FlightGlobal reports. This is one of the most ambitious young airlines in the world, to say so.

At the moment the situation on the airlines’ market is relatively tough. A lot of carriers, including leading Vietnamese operators, are currently battling the consequences of the deadly coronavirus, which limited services to/from China. For example, Vietnam Airlines is offering some of their aircraft for lease. No talks about new orders, of course.

Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways sees the current situation as a great chance to bite a good share of the market. Therefore, potential order for 777X, in particular, makes the airline absolutely crazy. Wondering why?

Let’s see. Bamboo Airways was launched in 2017. As for now, the carrier has three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and 21 narrow-body Airbus planes in their fleet. In addition to that, the same carrier has 30 Boeing 787-10s and 26 Airbus A321neos on order.

Now Bamboo considers ordering some more widebodies. The specific types as well as the timeframe for potential deliveries have not been disclosed yet.

The 777-9 is a newest member of Boeing widebody aircraft family, which made its maiden flight on 25 January, 2020.
