My latest in PJ Media:
As if participating in the failed deep state coup against President Trump weren’t enough, the FBI has covered itself in glory once again. A new report released Wednesday documents how the feds missed opportunities to stop at least six lethal terror attacks on American soil. The report focuses on failures of “oversight” and “procedure,” but itself becomes part of the problem, in failing to note that the Bureau’s troubles go much deeper.
According to the Washington Times, those six attacks killed 70 people, and each of their perpetrators “had been on the FBI’s radar.” Nonetheless, “agents quickly closed the cases after concluding they were not national security threats, Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz said in the report.”
The attackers, according to the Times, included these jihad terrorists:
⦁ Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016.
⦁ Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who killed three people at the Boston Marathon in 2013.
⦁ Nidal Hasan, who massacred 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009.
⦁ Esteban Santiago, who killed five people in a 2017 attack at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Santiago was a convert to Islam who said that he committed his murders in the service of the Islamic State (ISIS).
Horowitz observed that “the FBI has acknowledged that various weaknesses related to its assessment process may have impacted its ability to fully investigate certain counterterrorism assessment subjects, who later committed terrorist acts in the United States.”
Of course it did, because the FBI is still institutionally committed to ignoring, downplaying, or denying the motivating ideology behind jihad terrorism. Failing to investigate suspected jihadis is all part of the same willful ignorance. The bureau doesn’t want to appear “Islamophobic” by scrutinizing these people too closely; such scrutiny would abet the impression that there is something about Islam that incites some believers to violence, and the feds have already ruled out that possibility.
There is much more. Read the rest here.

There has been a big lie propagated about Islam ever since president George W. Bush. The lie is that Islam is a religion of peace and has nothing to do with violent terrorist act. Also former president Barack Obama contributed to this by removing from government information all references to Islam, Muslim, and Jihad when it came to acts of terrorism. This president would not identify the source of terrorism, but instead came up with this ridiculous expression of “Violent Extremism” in order not to offend any Muslims. The result of all this was that our government failed to catch these Islamic Terrorists before they committed their acts.

Most world leaders repeated essentially the same pernicious lie that Islam is peaceful, but under Obama the indoctrination became official.
‘In October 2011, elements of the American Muslim Brotherhood wrote the White House demanding an embargo or discontinuation of information and materials relating to Islamic-based terrorism—even insisting on firings, “re-training,” and “purges” of officers, analysts, special agents, and decision makers who created or made such materials available… Days later, Brennan responded by agreeing on the necessity for the “White House [to] immediately create an inter agency task force to address the problem” by removing personnel and products that the Muslim Brotherhood deemed “biased, false, and highly offensive.” ‘

David, you would still expect some hard-nosed lawmen to see through George W. Bush’s piffling nonsense about Islam and see Islam for the violent, supremacist ideology it is. Instead, apparently, they are a pathetic lot of intellectual mediocrities too stupid to see what many of us have seen after more than 44,000 jihad attacks since 9/11. Begin with the FBI leadership, it must be pathetic and about time Trump replaced it.

The FBI is to domestic safety as the FDA is to safe and cheap drugs, the CDC is for prevention of disease, the CIA is for national safety, and the Justice Department is for individual justice. All are huge, powerful bureaucracies interested primarily in advancing their own bureaucratic interests. Huge, centralized bureaucracies attract leftists like honey attracts flies. The bureaucracies offer a path to power and wealth that the damaged leftists, who otherwise would have trouble landing a job as a 7/11 clerk, wouldn’t otherwise have.
Incidentally, the earliest debates on ratifying the Constitution involved the benefits and dangers of a powerful national government. Thomas Jefferson resigned from George Washington’s cabinet over Washington’s decision to support a nationally-chartered bank, as opposed to leaving banking to the states.
Chances are some national emergency exacerbated by FBI incompetence and corruption of power will give the Democrats the opportunity to solve the emergency by still more funding and power to the FBI. The better course is to drastically shrink the domain (and budget) of the FBI to federal territories like Washington DC, and leave local policing to the states.

Due to postponement because of COVID-19, no one will be bombed to death at the Boston Marathon this year, at least not in April. That puts the coronavirus ahead of the FBI in terms of providing effective security for that major event.

It’s worse than willful PC in place of an FBI educated about Islam. “Tear up (Garland) Texas”, is a grim reminder that there are pockets of malevolence.

The late Philip Haney opined that Omar Mateen likely would not have been able to carry out the 2016 Orlando terrorist attack if critical information had not been scrubbed from Department of Homeland Security computers…

Yes–I’ve heard the same, James. This was the worst mass shooting in American history.

Actually, it was the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.
Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers, killing 58 people and wounded 413, with the ensuing panic bringing the injury total to 869…

Omar Mateen committed the greatest slaughter of gay people … he killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a mass shooting at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on June 12, 2016, before he was killed in a shootout with the local police.

James, you are right, Orlando *was* the deadliest shooting until Las Vegas.

Remember the 30 injured in Ft Hood that may still be suffering; several hundred injured in Boston and the 16 who lost limbs; the 53 wounded during the Pulse nightclub attack and the 6 wounded and 36 others injured in the ensuing panic at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport attack. So with the dead the toll is nearly 500 killed, wounded and injured as a result of the FBI negligence. The FBI should have done better instead they wasted resources investigating men such as Philip Haney. They played politics with our lives.

Robert Spencer knows first hand how Obama naively disarmed the FBI ideologically and made an unholy alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood.
This allowed jihadists to influence US policy and helped jihadists get the drop on police activities to track and catch them. Under Obama Islamists infiltrated departments of the government where they should never have crossed the threshold.
Obama unconscionably helped the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrate America and emboldened jihadists to try to get away with further terrorist attacks. The police had to work harder as a result to locate, monitor and prevent jihad terrorists from striking.
Obama played dice with American security by ideologically disarming them and removing those who had a sound understanding of jihadist doctrines and what detectives should have been looking for.

Keep in mind that we are not ruled by a king. Too many to count in the 3 branches of government silently accepted the counter violent extremism phony narrative and all it entailed. Where were the men of character who stood up and said, “No, not on my watch”?
mortimer says
Do current FBI agents know the doctrine that is “the motivating ideology behind jihad terrorism” ???
Do current FBI agents know “AL WALAA WAL BARAA”? If not, they are unprepared to understand the mind of the jihadist.
“AL WALAA WAL BARAA” is an ESSENTIAL TEACHING (usul ud-deen) of Islam and required of all Muslims to believe it and practice it. It is a doctrine of segregation and hate directed from Muslims towards the disbelieving kafirs.
“AL WALAA WAL BARAA” is the *MOTIVE* of ALL Islam and of ALL jihadism.

I see a bit of a problem here. True, the FBI failed to stop these events, yet if you wish to curb politically-correct stupidity, …confront the social science academics first. Too many on our college and university campuses insist that Christians are/have been every bit as violent as Islam. They’ll insist that Christians must be targeted too if you insist on focusing on Islam. In their view, the intent to profile Muslims violates the First Amendment. We can berate the FBI and other agencies all we wish; until we dismiss the cultural elites in academia–many are tenured, sadly–we won’t be able to competently address barbaric religious acts.
For that matter, …we won’t well confront religious fanaticism until we dispel some of the foolishness within other Christian sects.
gravenimage says
I agree that the social sciences are a “politically correct” mess. But the FBI and other security agencies are tasked with protecting us in a way that colleges are not–so the above really is a big issue.
John Flaherty says
Colleges and entertainers have not been tasked to protect us, true. They HAVE been insistent about dictating what these agencies may do. And not. Back in the 90s and 00s, they made it all but a hate crime to even mention that young, black men from single-parent homes tended to commit more crimes than did young, white men from two-parent homes. They also made it a near hate crime to admit that a Muslim might not always have the best intentions. Such idea received loud, rabid condemnation for “racism”, “white privilege”, and whatnot. Too many flatly refused to admit that minority issues might not come from white hatred.
These attitudes have been instilled into the Standard Ops for most federal agencies. Until we admit that a minority person–or non-white in other words–can be a deadly enemy, the FBI, ATF, and all the other alphabet soup agencies will be fundamentally hamstrung.
