Airbus has announced it pauses production in France and Spain for the next four days to comply with new emergency measures introduced by the governments in order to fight the spread of the coronavirus in both countries.

During these several days the planemaker is determined to secure working places with conditions suitable for safe operations.

“This will allow sufficient time to implement stringent health and safety conditions in terms of hygiene, cleaning and self-distancing, while improving the efficiency of operations under the new working conditions”, the company said in a statement.

Apart from this, the company will provide as many employees as possible with homeworking opportunity in both countries.

The airframer also said it is closely working with its social partners and customers to make the consequences of this temporary production halt as little as possible.

Aircraft manufacturers are going through difficult times as well. If France places the country on lockdown, most probably, Airbus will also stop its production in the country, which is home to the biggest European assembly line of the company.
