Nobody but You

Rate this book
Former firefighter Mason Cooper knows how it feels to be burned, both by life and by flame.

Still, nothing could have prepared him for life’s ultimate task—single fatherhood. As the sole provider for his little girl, there’s simply no room in his carefully constructed life for distractions.

When a stray dog lands him in the office of the new local vet, Mason comes face to face with a major complication. Because the new vet in town is none other than his childhood friend, Madeline Woods, the same girl who up and left him without a trace.

Gorgeous, smart, and thoughtful—the more time Mason spends with Maddy, the more he finds himself questioning whether she’s the thing he and his daughter have been missing all along.

But being with Maddy is like playing with fire, and while a little heat might be nice, can he trust her not to burn them both?

This is the first book by this author that I have read and it won’t be the last. Loved Mason and Maddy. Once friends in high school, a misunderstanding tore their friendship apart. Maddy leaves and they don’t see each other for 10 years. She is back in town and is now the town vet, Mason comes in with a sick dog and the feelings came rushing back. Wonderful story. I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mason and Maddy were best friends their senior year of high school, even though they couldn’t roam in more different crowds. Maddy was teased mercilessly by popular kids—including Mason’s friends—but Mason wanted to be her friend regardless of what his “friends” thought. But a misunderstanding tore apart their friendship and it’s been almost a decade since they’ve seen each other.

4-years ago, Mason and his newborn daughter, Hannah, were left by his wife Stephanie, as she couldn’t handle motherhood. Mason gave up his job as a firefighter to be always and constantly present for Hannah. When they come across a sickly dog in the park, Hannah is instantly smitten, so they rush her to the vet. Mason’s surprised to learn that the woman who recently took over the practice is none other than Maddy Woods, the girl who disappeared out of nowhere all those years ago.

All the feelings between Maddy and Mason still remain and a romance forms. But their past and current issues are keeping them from going all-in. They want to follow their hearts, but Maddy and Mason worry that history may repeat itself...

Nobody But You by Megan Green is a sweet childhood friends to adult lovers romance. I wasn’t sure what to expect, as this was my first time reading anything by Megan Green, but I really enjoyed this one! I love the single dad trope and I enjoyed how much Hannah played a part in this story. Definitely give this one a shot! 4/5 stars.

Wowza!! Can we first off just talk about this cover? It’s a beauty!! This book y’all had me hooked from the beginning and that doesn’t happen often. There was no skimming I devoured EVERY SINGLE word! And I LOVED it. Who doesn’t love a single dad story? I laughed I cried and I swooned. Both were strong characters. Don’t pass this book up. Promise it’s worth the read. This is my first book by this author and now I want to read every book she has published. Can’t wait to see if we get to see some of the others we met in this book. *Available on Kindle Unlimited at the time of my review*

Small town romance - CHECK; single dad - CHECK; second chance romance - CHECK! RESCUE A PUP - CHECK CHECK CHECK!

Mason and Maddy were besties during their senior year. He was a popular jock and she was "Fatty Maddy" but he saw the real Maddy and their friendship was special. Until things took a turn, causing Maddy to run far and fast.

Fast forward, Mason is a single dad to adorable Hannah. They find a stray dog who isn't doing well and that lands them at the local vet's office. And that vet is none other than Maddy Woods!

Sparks fly in the chapters that come - good sparks and bad ones. We watch Mason & Maddy try to navigate their feelings and deal with all that happened in the past.

Hannah was adorable and I love when an author writes children so believably. And then we had Hope - the sweet pup they rescued. Without her there would be no love story!

I have needed a good book for a long time now. And boy did I find it!! Pretty much from the first paragraph of the first page I was hooked on this story! I’m a sucker for a single dad story. But Mason, he just took it up a notch for all single dads out there because OMG!! And his little Hannah, that man has done wonders with her. She’s the cutest and the sweetest. And Maddy, I can relate with Maddy. The insecurities in life and having trouble moving past them. But when she does it’s beautiful and amazing and so is this story! And we can’t forget Hope. The whole reason this story started! I’m in love with this book and these characters and just I found my reading again after loving this book fiercely!

* * I HAD BEEN GIVEN AN ADVANCE READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW * *

Aha 2 of my favorite tropes 1st Responders and single parents. It makes my heart all a flutter with the sweet and steamy that can happen.

While this was 80% more sweet and only 5% steamy with some awe thrown in there it was a great read. There were more ups and downs than a typical second chance romance but I love the dynamic that ran not only between Mason, Maddy and Hannah. But also the secondary characters, Cami, and Reese (who by the way I wanna see get their own story, and not just for in the Cooper family check in further down the road).

They were the same when the crazy seemed to over run their friendly counterparts brains. I also loved the true blue sass that came from Hannah little brain and mouth. As a mom of a 4 and 6 year old.... I am also to familiar with the sass.... The only thing missing was the squeal... Little girls squeal when they are happy, sad, mad, tired ... You name it to happens.

I love this book because it's about growing and change and embracing that change. It's about so much more than who you were 10+ years ago it about what those paths taken have brought you in growth and accepting that.

I do highly recommend!!

Mason’s life revolves around Hannah, his four year old daughter, which is how he finds himself rescuing a puppy and heading to the veterinary office. He never expected the new vet to be his best friend from high school who left town over a decade ago with no explanation or further contact.

High school and this town were not a pleasant experience for Maddie and leaving was her only way out. She has returned to her hometown for professional reasons but seeing Mason garners feelings in her she wasn’t expecting.

These characters draw you in as Mason is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy while Maddie had come a long way from high school but like everyone she still has moments of doubt and Mason's daughter Hannah is a scene stealer. This is a second chance at love story that will bring a smile to your face.

I typically don't read any blurbs or anything before diving into a book. So when I saw this was a single dad, firefighter romance? I was all over it!

This swoony, second chance romance caught me right in the feels. I loved every minute of it. From seeing how adorable Mason was with Hannah, to how Mason and Maddy reconnected. It all was just so swoon-worthy and beautiful. I honestly think Hannah and Hope stole the show!

There is nobody better. There's not a single person out there more suited for me than you. There's nobody, Maddy. Nobody but you.

I love when a story has such amazing characters一main and secondary一that you want more. I would love to see Reese and Cami get their own story. They need their own story!

Single dad romance at its absolute best. From the very first paragraphs to the last word on the final chapter this story will suck you in and not let you go. Between the hot and hunky Mason, who only wants what is best for his little girl Hannah, to the adorable 4 year old that has the perfect combination of sass and humor, to the caring and compassionate veterinarian Maddy who has a connection to Mason from long ago, the reader cannot help but fall in love with them. Throw in the High School connection and you have a storyline that is at times heart wrenching and at others heart warming. This book has it all.

Five stars all the way. I loved Megan Greens Washington Rampage series. Brandon is still one of my most favorite characters ever. Very tough to beat, but Mason did it. I don’t know something about a sexy fireman who also happens to be an amazing single father? You can’t beat that.

I absolutely loved every second of this book. It’s a friends to lovers, second chance, single father romance. Mason and Mandy spent senior year of high school being closer than any two people can be, the best of friends, even though Mason was the popular jock and Maddy was the girl everyone made fun of. Until something happened and Maddy left without a word. Now she is back with her own vet clinic and comes face to face with Mason and his daughter and despite her hurt feelings she can’t help but remember how much she loved being with Mason.

Mason and Maddy have amazing chemistry that flys right off the pages of the book. You can feel it as you are reading. The characters are all amazing but that doesn’t surprise me with Megan Green because I felt that way when reading her other books. I’m really hoping for a Reed and Cami book because that would be AMAZING.

Side not I need to put in here how much I love the cover of this book. It is absolutely gorgeous!!!!

I fell in love with this amazing story.. single parents are my absolute fave genre to read anyways, but this one hit me in all the feels. I love how Mason loves Maddy even tho she feels unworthy, she doubts herself so much . I just wanted to hug her because I've been in her shoes. But Mason loves her thru it, Hannah is too stinking cute and Hope is just what they needed, in more ways than one...

Oh now this is a book I can get behind. Nobody But You is adorably sweet and full of heart. I mean come on, who in their right mind could resist puppy saving, precious children, dedicated hot single dads, and a relatable heroine? Not this girl. I am not that strong. I was putty in Megan Green’s hands the moment this hit my kindle.
A second chance long lost friends to lovers romance with a whole lot of swoon. This book is the kind you just want to curl up in bed with and do nothing else all day. I loved it!

Mason Cooper is my new favorite book boyfriend. Despite the rocky reunion, Mason & Maddy have instant chemistry and it's hard to deny. Their love story is definitely one for the books (pun intended ;)).

Mason & Maddy knew each other throughout school, forming a special friendship their senior year. Despite Maddy thinking she didn't deserve Mason, he fell in love with her. But a misunderstanding changes everything & Maddy leaves, not to be seen by Mason again for over 10 years. Their reunion isn't like in a fairytale, with both of their walls up high due to their past, but the walls quickly begin to tumble.

Is their love strong enough to weather the past so they can have a future or will it hinder their relationship entirely??

Megan Green has created another masterpiece!! Definitely read this; you will not be disappointed.

Once I started reading this, I couldn’t put it down! Mason was such a swoony hero & for once the hero was not a total douchecanoe. ;) This was a sweet, second chance/small town/single dad romance. Mason & Maddy seriously gave me ALL THE FEELS. Definitely give this book a go if you’re looking for a quick, sweet read! Can’t wait for the next!

I have read a number of Megan Green's books, and Nobody but You is definitely one of my favorites!

Mason and Maddy were friends in high school but have not seen each other or spoken in years. He is surprised to run into her at the vet's office and to find out she has taken over the practice. Though it has been a long time and their lives have changed quite a bit, the chemistry between them is still strong. Mason also adores his daughter Hannah, and I really loved their sweet relationship.

As Megan and Mason explore their feelings and a possible new relationship, some old hurts and new concerns come up. They, of course, get their happily ever after, but the journey to get there is definitely worth reading.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Unlikely highschool friends . . . a popular jock and a chubby nerd. Yet, they were best friends, until the mean girls conspire to keep them apart by creating gossip and lives meant to destroy Maddy so they could keep Mason to themselves. And, it worked . . because Maddy ran away and left town without a word believing Mason was a fraud and Mason was left broken hearted because he has no idea why Maddy left him high and dry.

Now, Mason’s a single dad. After his wife walked out on him and their infant, he’s devoted himself to being the best father he can possibly be, including giving up the career he loved and vowing not to have a relationship. That way, no one can leave him and Hannah again.

Maddy needs to find herself again. After living a life she wasn’t really meant to live and a rotten failed relationship, she’s back in her hometown. She’s finally doing what she wants on her own terms and not worried about what anyone thinks about her. That is until Mason, Hannah and a very sick stray dog walk into her veterinary clinic.

I really enjoyed Nobody But You. Maddy’s character was so easy to identify with. Even though she is successful, beautiful and confident, just being back in her home town has her reliving her terrible highschool days. And, coming face to face with Mason has her feeling insecurities she hasn’t felt for years.

Mason really is a good guy. He’s an amazing father and has given up his dream career and his entire focus is on making sure his baby girl is happy, healthy and loved. But, one look at Maddy has him yearning for things he swore he wouldn’t subject himself to again.

Add in a precocious and adorable little girl, nasty exes, quirky and outspoken best friends, miscommunications, lies by omission, feelings of not being good enough, fear of abandonment, an amazing grand gesture and a sweet little pup named Hope who brings them all together, and you have a sweet yet rocky romance working very hard to get to the happy ever after that this second chance couple deserves. 4 stars!

This sweet and heartwarming book saves all the drama for the end, with a light, low angst feel and a hero who is almost too good to be true. The writing is solid and the story one that’s incredibly relatable. This former firefighter is now a sexy single dad whose love for his daughter shines through, and when an unlikely friend reenters his life, he realizes just what he’s been missing out on. I really enjoyed the connection these two share, but I found several things to be frustrating (more on that later).

The story follows Mason, a father whose wife abandoned her family. He’s been guarding his heart since she left, but when a chance encounter brings his high school friend, Maddy, back into his life, the attraction is almost instantaneous. Back in high school, Maddy struggled with her weight and was bullied frequently, so her friendship with Mason, the star jock, was surprising to many. When their friendship fell apart, they lost touch and now have a lot of catching up to do.

If you’re looking for something that’s heartwarming and low angst, this is that. It’s a quick and easy read with only a touch of steam, and the family moments are pretty adorable. Mason is such a great guy; he’s loving, kind, and his feelings for Maddy develop quickly. My main complaint is the amount of high school drama that still lingers in the present. I didn’t love that Mason was so complacent in Maddy’s bullying, or that his attraction to her didn’t develop until AFTER she lost the weight. There’s also a revelation towards the end that really rubbed me the wrong way, but not enough to take away from an otherwise enjoyable read. This one is probably TOO laidback for my personal tastes, but I can appreciate the quality of the storytelling and those looking for something sweet and easy will definitely enjoy it. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this former friends to lovers romance.

I absolutely loved Mason and Maddy! And Hannah made the story complete! I love single parent, and small town romances, add them together and I'm sure to love it.

I wouldn't call Mason and Maddy's story a second chance romance since they were never together in high school, however they were friends and there was a possibility of more. Mason was all the all-star baseball player, and Maddy was the overweight nobody in the corner. Maddy was picked up in high school by the people Mason called his friends. And let's talk about that first meeting after Maddy gets back into town all those years later when Mason opens his mouth and "Fatty Maddy" comes out. I wasn't sure at that moment if he would ever be able to redeem himself. His foot went so far in his mouth I thought it would need to be surgically removed.

Maddy comes back into town as the new town veterinarian, it's the first time she's step foot in the town since she left when she turned 18. Maddy is no longer that same girl from high school. She now confident, and sassy, and takes nothing from anyone. Mason is not the same guy he was when Maddy left either. He's now a single father to a 5 year old little girl, and learned quickly after high school what kind of people he was hanging around. Well maybe not as quickly as he should considering who he ended up marrying.

When Mason and Hannah find a sick dog on the road they take it to the vet, and that's where the two are reconnected. Mason and Maddy's story is sweet, and emotional. They are not only dealing with the present but their pasts as well. Where Mason has things he needs to wrap up, Maddy has to realize she needs to move past what happened in high school.

Megan Green delivered an emotional, well-written story, with characters I loved! Nobody But You is a perfect example as to why I fell in love with Megan Green's writing.

I haven't read a Megan Green book since her Washington Rampage series, so I was excited to get my hands on Nobody But You. This is a wonderful story about former best friends who reconnect 12 years after high school. MG magically weaves Maddy and Mason's insecurities together with who-they-were and the who-they-are-now.

The misunderstanding that led to the fracture in their friendship back in high school could have easily been avoided if Maddy talked to Mason about it rather than run off and literally never return to school. Two similar situations arise several months into their relationships when Maddy finds out some information about the wife who abandoned Mason, and then again when his past impacts their present. But this time around, Maddy is mature enough to confront it head-on. Her insecurities about being the nerdy fat kid are ever-present, as are Mason's fears of being abandoned by the woman he loves.

It's so easy for Maddy and Mason to fall back into the routine of their friendship, and I totally shipped them as a couple. They have a great rapport, the story is beautifully paced, and the characters are relatable and likable.

It all begins with Mason's adorable daughter, Hannah, finding an abandoned, sick dog. That dog brings "Hope" to them all.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Megan Green is a new author to me, and I was pleasantly surprised with her ability to draw me in and hold my attention from the very first page. Nobody But You is a sweet and adorable read with two of my favourite tropes, a single dad and second chance romance.

Mason is a single father raising his adorable four year old daughter. I really admired his love and dedication to provide the most happy and loving life for his daughter. He delays his own goals and love life for the sake of what’s best for his daughter until a blast from the past comes back into town.

Maddie returns to her hometown twelve years after fleeing from her horrible high school experience. Her insecurities and doubts have controlled her feelings and decisions for most of her life until a perfect situation draws her back home.

Mason and Maddie were high school best friends separated abruptly due to assumptions and miscommunication. The friendship they shared was comfortable, fun and allowed them to feel and act like themselves without judgment or the need to pretend. I loved their connection and the easiness of the family unit they build.

The plot was a little bit predictable and the conflicts could have been avoided with honesty and communication but was a great read nonetheless. I flew through this book in no time at all and am really excited to read more of Megan’s books.

Megan Green is a new to me author, and I'm quite impressed with her writing style. Holy hell, Mason is the best single dad that I've read in quite some time, and I eat these type of stories up, but seriously, he was mouthwatering and/or swoon (I don't use this word lightly either) worthy though he's been burned in the past figuratively & physically. Seriously, I could read book after book with him as the hero for real. Now, his life revolves around his tiny human, Hannah, and she absolutely did her best to steal the show from the jump. Maddie has some inside scars from her past, which makes her insecurities rear their ugly head from time to time, though she had come a long way from her High School years. She & Mason are amazing together, and again, Hannah, oh my adorable Hannah, seriously though, ended up stealing this beautiful show. I really don't want to get into many more details because it's just best to experience it for yourselves, so hit that one click button to do so! CANNOT WAIT to read more by this author, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Nobody But You follows Maddy Woods and Mason Cooper. Maddy was the smart, non athletic girl where as Mason was the hot baseball player. Every girl wanted to date him and every guy wanted to be him. When the class mean girls get involved, feelings get hurt and emotions are acted on.

12 years later, Maddy has returned home as the new veterinarian in town. Animals had been the one place where Maddy could find the unconditional love she so craved elsewhere. Imagine her shock when the man with the adorable blonde ball of energy and her very sick puppy is none other than Mason Cooper.

This was a cute book but never really had any significant depth or major conflict. Mason and his friends were so "perfect" it was almost annoying.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read that doesn't require a ton of extra brain power (something I think we could all use right about now).

I was drawn to this one because it's a single dad romance. It's hard for me to pass one up. Plus Maddy is veterinarian. I love books with animals in them. Mason's little girl Hannah is adorable. The scenes with Mason and Hannah will melt your heart. This book hits you right in the heart. Both Mason and Maddy's pasts break your heart. I can relate to Maddy with the bullying so I know what she is feeling. There is one character I would love to give a piece of my mind. She's some nasty business. This is a book you can easily get lost in. It's a second chance for Maddy and Mason. Or will history repeat itself? I would recommend this book because you're going to instantly fall in love with the characters. I also enjoyed the humor in this book especially when Mason gets together with his firefighter buddies.

One of my absolute favorite tropes -- single dads. And let me tell you, Mason is one perfect specimen for this trope. Throw in a sassy little girl and you have one of my favorite dynamics ever. I simply enjoyed reading every single word from the first chapter until the very end of this book.

I really enjoyed the break from reading alpha males who have that [butthead] quality to them. Mason was perfectly sweet and oh, so dedicated to his little girl.

I really like Maddy as a heroine. And even more, was the history between Mason and Maddy that made their chemistry that much stronger throughout the story.

Although this book was a little lighter on the steam than I was expecting, I was extremely happy with the plot and the HEA.

This is one of those books that you read and just feel so good afterward! I loved everything about this…all of the characters - from single daddy Mason, to veterinarian Maddy, to little Hannah and Hope! The storyline was well written and I didn’t want to put it down!!!

“No relationship is one hundred percent perfect. But it’s how you deal with those imperfections that makes or breaks it.”

This is a wonderful second chance, single dad romance! Mason was such a swoony, sweet hero! He just gave me all the feels! I loved how author Megan Green wrote the backstory and history of the characters. There was some heat and some heartbreak. I really loved so much about this and totally recommend reading it! 5 Stars!!!
