Rivals #2

A Love Song for Rebels

Rate this book
I swore I’d never fall for a rockstar. He swore he’d never become one.

Tyler didn’t mean to break my heart. He did it anyway.

Now, I’ll never play by anyone’s rules but mine.

When he shows up in the last place I expect, with a confession and a promise…

There’s going to be a reckoning.

Because the naive girl he shattered is gone.

And the woman in her place is ready for a fight.

A Love Song for Rebels is Book 2 in the angsty new adult, academy-inspired Rivals trilogy and must be read following A Love Song for Liars (Rivals #1).

If your favorite tropes include enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, academy, high school, or rock star / music, don’t miss Tyler and Annie's epic story!

Semi-Sweet Rockstar Romance!

I enjoyed getting back into the lives of Tyler and Annie. This book had great character development of the two main characters and I really like the setting and storyline but I think there could possibly have been something else added. I guess it didn’t have the suspense and tension that the previous book had. It was still a very good book in my mind, I just think it wasn’t quite as good as Love Notes and A Love Song for Liars.

In the previous books we found out that Annie and Tyler have known each other since they were kids. Annie is the Daughter of Jax Jamieson who was one of the biggest rockstars on the planet before he retired a few years ago. Annie didn’t grow up with Jax, she thought he was an uncle until she overheard that he was in fact her father and the people she thought were her parents were actually her aunt and uncle.

This book starts out with Annie and Tyler both at the same performing Arts College in New York. Annie had auditioned in the spring and was accepted but her Dad wouldn’t let her go, because he didn’t want her to go through some of the things he went through in the music industry. But that school is all Annie wants and music is the only thing she wants to do, so she goes and tells Jax she is at Columbia.

Annie and Tyler run into each other right away and it isn’t long before they are seeing each other again despite how it ended last time. I did think they got back together a bit quickly, but I like their passion for each other.

The one thing I sort of had issue with is that in the last book, Annie had the lead in the school musical The Little Mermaid. She was jealous of the fact that Jax spent all his time helping Tyler with his music and showing him the business while absolutely refusing to think that she might be as talented as Tyler. So Annie really wanted her father to see her in the play so he would notice how good she was and take her seriously as an artist.

In this book Annie is lying to her Dad about the fact that she is going to a performing arts school and she knows that she will have to tell him sooner or later. However, she wants it to be at a time when he can see how well she is doing so he will agree she belongs there. She pins her hopes on winning a spot in the fall showcase and having Jax see her perform. It just seemed a bit redundant. Too similar to the last book, I guess.

I really liked the interactions between Annie and Tyler though. The romance was sweet, but not too sweet. They had some steamy moments and they were meant to be together. The supporting characters were great. I especially liked Heath, her fish! 🐠

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

This one starts a few months after the first book ended, and it was so good to see Annie and Tyler making their way back to each other...
The angst is still very much present in this one, and I love it!

Not much time have passed, maybe a little more than a year, but they both learned from their past mistakes, and also figured out that their dreams are nothing if they're not on each other's lives!

I really liked how Tyler made everything right this time around... Especially after how things ended in the first book!

Jax is still my least favorite person here, and I'll probably listen to the Wicked series afterwards, cause oh boy... He's definitely damaged goods!

Another killer cliffhanger (pun intended on this case 😳), so here I go to the next audiobook!

🎧 About the Audiobook Narration 🎧

Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Rose Dioro, and again, it was perfect!
They gave such a great interpretation for Tyler and Annie and I'm dying already for the next one!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

Annie and Tyler's story will absolutely captivate you from the beginning. When I read the first book in this series I knew that their story was something special.

Piper Lawson has such powerful storytelling. The first thing I notice about her books is how easy they are to read. The narration always feels so natural. The writing style is so smooth and welcoming. I love the way that Lawson crafts the plots of her stories. She keeps you on the edge of your seat anticipating everything that unfolds. The plot of this book was compelling and the cliffhanger had me biting my nails.

Tyler and Annie are wonderful characters. They are just two young people trying to navigate making their dreams come true while also trying to navigate their hearts. They both had a lot of character growth from the first book. They are such relatable and likable characters. I really love the cast of secondary characters in this book.

The romance in this book was quite emotional. Tyler and Annie come back together in this book and Annie has to learn to trust him again while he has to come to terms with what he has done. They both have such an intense connection that radiates off the page. What I love most about their romance is the fact that they have a friendship first and foremost.

Overall, this was a highly riveting follow-up to A Love Song for Liars that is full of emotion. This is such a raw story that bleeds feels all over the place. That cliffhanger really has my heart racing and I the final book in this series can't come fast enough for me!

I love this series. Although Jax hasn't redemmed himself to me yet, there's still time Jax Jamieson, you can't not love Tyler and Annie. There were a few times I had to put the book down because I wanted it to last forever, but that didn't stop me reading it in a morning. Loved some of the secondary characters and would love a story about Beck. Fingers crossed.

Book 2 in the series - must read book 1 first.

Gaaaaahhhhhhhh!! That’s how this book made me feel. It’s a roller coaster of emotion and I absolutely loved it!

Annie and Tyler are older, a little more jaded and definitely complicated. I loved the slowburn, the push and pull, the discovery of what they now mean to each other. The chemistry in this one almost caused spontaneous combustion and Tyler has some of the BEST dirty talk I’ve read this year! New panties alert.

There were gasp out loud moments, laugh out loud moments and definitely yell out loud moments. Piper Lawson knows how to hook you in a story, making you fight right along side the characters for their HEA.

MAJOR Cliffhanger that had me shouting NOOOOOOO & already chomping at the bit for book 3!! Definitely recommend.

I received an arc of this book.

3.5-4 ⭐'s

The book begins almost a year later. Of course, that's not the first time they saw each other but you will need to read A Love Song for Liars to find out what happened.

Annie is hesitant to start anything again with Tyler but he proves himself over and over.

They decide to work together for a competition in college and that brings them even closer.

They both make some long lasting friends and that helps round out the story. As does ongoing problems with her father. Tyler also had some issues with his father.

However, everything is looking up for these two when of course, the worse happens and of course, this book ends. Luckily, all the books are out or I would be having a hard time with all these cliffhangers!

Can I just say how much I loved Jax Jamieson...until this series. In A Love Song for Liars, we saw Annie and Tyler going through teenage angst and high school drama. Jax made me angry but in this book I think he needs a kick in the pants!

This book starts off on the first day at a prestigious music college. Annie is a freshman and Tyler in his second year. When they run into each other on the first day, it’s so awkward you just want to cry and laugh and cheer and scream.

I love how Annie has matured and grown into a strong, woman and Tyler is just...sigh, perfectly Tyler. The way they find their way back to each other is so real and raw. Piper didn’t run the usual script here of misunderstanding coming between them. These two love each other so much, they just can’t run from the other.

The ending is a cliffhanger (and oh boy is it a doozy!) but that only makes me want book 3 more! I love all the roommates too, particularly Beck. I do hope he gets his own book someday. I couldn’t decide between reading this quickly or slowly. I had to argue with myself to put it down after a few chapters so it wouldn’t be over so quickly. Love love love this series and this author!

Firstly I just have to say: holy smokes, that ending is insane.

So, I totally blazed through this book. It was one of my most anticipated books of the year (along with Dreamers, obviously) and it did not disappoint.

I have been loving on Annie and Tyler ever since forever wicked, and after all the angst and heartbreak in Liars I loved seeing them grow and bloom in this book.

The amount of heart in Piper's writing is her biggest strength and she manages to captivate me, having me completely unable to put her books down.

It's so beautifully written (like Pipers other books) and its angsty, romantic, believable.

I devoured this in only a few hours. It's amazing!

For those who dont like cliffhangers, I recommend waiting 'till all the books are available.

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

OVERALL REVIEW: It has been a long time since I have been this invested in a young couple’s journey! Well done Piper Lawson!!

PERFORMANCE REVIEW: Rose Dioro and Teddy Hamilton are killing it with their narrations! They’ve made my listening experience more than just listening to a story, they’ve created a performance that brings Tyler & Annie to life in my head in vivid color and I am here for it all!! WELL DONE!

STORY REVIEW: I am so in love with how this story is unfolding that I think my heart might burst from it all. It is captivating and consuming and full of emotion at every turn! Annie and Tyler have tremendous chemistry in every aspect and when they finally come together for the sexy sexy it is equal parts explosion and tenderness! Even tho the resolution from the cliffy ending of the previous books seems a bit quick, coming together as a couple is not and I really love this choice by the author!

Annie and Tyler’s bond continues to grow and solidify as the story progresses and as much as I know something unexpected and #twitchy is coming, I honestly did not see this ending coming … at all! Well played!

I am completely sucked in to this world and I can’t wait to not just continue in this journey, but also do a binge-listen in the future! It is that captivating kids, #TRUST!

Read other books by this author in the future: yes

After finishing Highschool Annie moves to New York to attend Vanier College without telling her Dad and stepmother who believe she attends Columbia.
She meets Tyler again, makes new friends and tries to perform whenever she gets a chance.

It was a nice sequel of the Rival Series. The MC’s are older and grew up a lot but they have to find their way to each other. It was a quick read and I liked it.

Oh my gosh!!! I’ve just finished this book and I can’t wait for book 3!!! I liked a lot book 1 from Rivals series but I loved ‘A Love Song for Rebels’. Annie and Tyler were fun to read when they were in High School but the real deal is happening in College. They’ve grown up and know better what they want and what they don’t.

I really like how things develop in this second installment. Annie still feels insecure about her possibilities in the music industry but is determined to make it work on her own. She tries to get over Tyler and focus on her studies but all of a sudden they meet again and so many feelings and memories reappear. I don’t want to give away much of the plot but Annie and Tyler love story is being epic.

Misunderstandings, new revelations, angst, hard decisions, sacrifices, and powerful feelings. Our dearest couple is going to have to deal with all of that and more. I still love the deep connection that Annie and Tyler share from the beginning and how here goes stronger and deeper. Emotionally and physically. They’re going to have a very interesting year to say the least.

Awesome second book but I need book 3 already! <3

Oh! My! This book you guys!!!

Remember how A Love Song For Liars left you NEEDING more? Remember how you needed answers and wrongs to be righted? A Love Song For Rebels is going to mend your heart ❤️

A Love Song For Rebels was everything I needed it to be. Annie and Tyler are a little older, a little wiser and their love for one another is undeniable. The secondary characters are superb and easy to love. Annie's girl squad is nothing but supportive and filled with love. Not to mention her Student Mentor is equally as fantastic ❤️😉

This book is HOT 🔥🔥🔥 I caught myself trying to read around my 6 year old and I had to LEAVE THE ROOM. Chapters 12 and 13 may have melted my Kindle a tad! If you thought there was angst and tension in book one, wait until you get your hands on this! There's no holding back once Annie and Tyler let go. It's beautiful and sexy. Their off the charts chemistry is explosive.

A Love Song For Rebels easily gets five stars. Piper Lawson writes some of the most poetic words and she's easily mastered the New Adult Romance genre. This book will leave you breathless and yearning for the final installment ❤️

A Love Song for Rebels by Piper LawsonMy rating: 5 of 5 starsTyler and Annie are like poetry in motion. With every beat of my heart, I lost a little bit more of my soul. Lawson turns young love into an intensely, captivating journey of self-discovery. Against the backdrop of heartache and determination lies an uphill climb of hope and yearning. A Love Song for Liars gave emotions a chance to get their feet wet. A Love Song for Rebels pushes the soul in, heart first. A rapturous melody that lingers on the wind to hold you forever spellbound.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘A love song for rebels’ is the second book in the ‘Rivals’ trilogy and because this trilogy is about the same couple Annie and Tyler, I would strongly recommend you start with the previous two books before reading this one.

More than one year has passed since Tyler left Annie behind. Now by chance, they are both in the same city (New York) and even in the same academy (Vanier)! The chance that they will meet each other regularly is big and it becomes even greater when Tyler’s friend and roommate becomes Annie’s mentor. So you can imagine that things get very emotional between Tyler and Annie quickly.

Annie has a lot to proof this year, not only to the teachers and herself but also to her father. Because he doesn’t know that she’s attending Vanier, he wanted her to go to another college. So this year is very important to Annie and the last person that she needs in her life is Tyler. The boy that broke her heart! But he is here and she will do her best to ignore him (easily said than done in reality!).
Tyler is shocked to see Annie in Vanier, he never expected to see her there. And no matter how much they try, they can’t ignore each other or their feelings. But their dreams of becoming more in life are still the same. The reason why Tyler left Annie is still there. Can they restore their friendship and relationship, now that they are older (and wiser)? Or was it never meant to be?

Wow! This story made me feel so much, it went from frustration to happiness to shock. Let me explain, from the moment that I met Annie and Tyler in the ‘Wicked’ series I knew that they belong together. They were young then but still you could already feel the rightness of them becoming a couple in the future. So when you know and feel that way, it can be very frustrating to see how they ignore that and act in a way that you know that it will move them further apart. And that was especially so in the beginning of the story. But then I felt the change and that made me very happy. Because both character do grow during the story. But then the end!! I was so shocked and I never saw that coming. I’m so happy that we don’t have to wait too long for the next story! Because with that ending I really want to know what happens next.

The story is again told in both POV’s. Unlike in the previous book, there are sex scenes in this story. Although it’s said that this is a ‘rockstar’ story, to me it doesn’t really feel 100% like one. Yes, Tyler has ambitions to become a rockstar. But for me, this trilogy is more about young people who love music and use that to express their feelings and emotions and who love to share that with other people. It’s about growing up, follow your dreams and discover what’s really important in life.

(I’m still not sure what to think of Annie’s father Jax’s attitude towards Annie and Tyler. He didn’t really redeem himself to me in this story yet. Maybe in the next one?)

I LOVED this book!!! These two have so much angst and passion, so much love, and I seriously cannot get enough of these two!

Picking up shortly after the first book left off, Annie and Tyler are now in college, and all the feelings they thought they burried comes roaring back. They are both older, a little more jaded and guarded, but the push and pull between them is so incredible.

Annie has grown up quite a bit since Tyler walked away from her, and refuses to let him back into her heart. She's been down that road before, and all it led to was heartbreak. But when someone is so ingrained in your heart and soul, you can't fight fate, and that's what Tyler and Annie are -- fated in every since of the word.

It tore Tyler apart to walk away from Annie, and even though he misses the girl that she used to be, he loves the woman she's grown into. When they begin to work together for an end of the year showcase, Tyler can't help but realize that she is the other half of him, and will stop at nothing to make her his, regardless of the consequences.

I love the connection that these two have, and their sexual tension is just out of this world! But beyond that, they really are each other's person, and I loved how genuine their love is.

But beware.. There is a hell of a cliffhanger that I didn't see coming at all that had me screaming at my kindle and begging for Piper to give me the third book asap. I don't want to spoil anything, but the wait for their last book is going to be painful!

I'm absolutely captivated by this brilliant world our author transports us info, and I can't why enough of it! We had some new characters that were introduced as well that were absolutely amazing! I can't recommend this book enough!!

**Remember that this is book two in the series, and the first book must be read first!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

That cliffhanger! I am so ready to read the conclusion to this angsty, new adult trilogy because this couple has me hooked. Piper Lawson's writing is excellent (as always), so she's got me rooting for Annie and Tyler despite the complicated nature of their relationship. It's angsty and engrossing, with tension and plenty of drama. There were a couple of minor things that hold me back from calling this 5 stars, but it's a truly compelling story and I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.

As the middle book in a trilogy, this begins and ends on a CLIFFHANGER, so make sure you're caught up before you dive into this one. It picks up as Tyler is starting his second year at a music-based college, and the tension ratchets up as Annie starts as a freshman. They've both changed since the events of the first book, and neither one realizes just how deeply their separation affected the other. It's not long until all those old feelings rise to the surface, and they have to decide where they go from here.

Lawson does a great job playing with your emotions; it's got a whole lot of drama and characters you just want to see find their happy ever after. I'll be honest and say that I REALLY prefer duets over trilogies because the angst always gets to me in the middle book, and that's definitely the case here. There's maybe just a little too much push/pull, and I didn't love that they both moved on so quickly during their separation. For that reason, I can't call this 5 stars, but I am still completely hooked on the story. And as for the cliffhanger in this one... well, I have no idea where this story is going next and I LOVE that. It was unexpected and I'm curious to see how the final book plays out. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this angsty new adult romance.

I am absolutely Loving this series so far,and I swear to the heavens that Piper Lawson's writing and story telling just gets better and better.
A Love Song For Rebels is book 2 and it is Everything ,it is so much more than I expected, there is more Heat, more intensity and more heart. It completely took my breath away.
Piper's writing is just beautiful, descriptive and magical it sweeps you up and holds you hostage and you are never the same after reading them.I felt a whole cluster of emotions, that left me wanting more.
I fell in Love with Annie and Tyler and hold affection for some of the side characters too,it was so easy to be captivated by them,as they all try to get through college and make their dreams a reality.
Annie and Tyler's relationship escalates with more angst and chemistry you could start a fire with,I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what would happen. We see how they have grown since they have been apart, getting to know one another again and relearning the feelings that were left dormant but come back to life when they see eachother again, leaves them both vunerable but determined to have a future together.
But my Gosh that ending brought me to my Knees,it was riveting and heart breaking and I honestly don't know how this story is going to go..and how Annie and Tyler will survive this it seems that whenever they start to progress, something always stops them.
My heart feels hollow right now and will only be full again( I hope )when I know the rest of Annie and Tylers Love Story.
I cannot Express how much I Love this book and this series so far and I am itching for book 3 and the conclusion,I cannot wait.
A Love Song For Rebels is a thrilling ,entertaining and extraordinary continuation from book 1 and I cannot recommend it Highly enough.
It is The BEST

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

A Love Song for Rebels picks up where the last book ended, with both Annie and Tyler living in the same city and attending the same school. They’re older, wiser, a little bit jaded but their feelings and connection is still as strong. They have grown up, learnt to excel and be by themselves but realise that they are stronger together. They are both so incredibly talented and their passion for music and the unique way they view the world and life draw them together like magnets.

I loved everything about Tyler and Annie’s story, and even though I have to wait for book three *sigh*, I have loved reading about their growth individually and together and I cannot wait to see how their story ends. Of course, Piper is the queen of cliff hangers and just when Tyler and Annie are on the brink of having everything they have dreamed of, fate intervenes. Ahh I cannot wait to read book three! I need it now!

This is the second book in the Rivals trilogy, and you must read book one first.

The amazing emotional journey that is Annie and Tyler's story continues in this, book two of their trilogy. You must read book one, A love Song For Liars first to get caught up and obtain their story so far. It doesn't really seem possible but as this couple's story resumes things get more emotional, the tension thickens and while the angst level lowers, the heat level rises. I adore these characters and my heart hurts for them as the struggle to become who they want to be while finding a way to be together and let the love they share really bloom. As in real life this is no easy task. Emotional baggage, intense emotions, past mistakes and new ones, drama, good intensions, history, family, friends and twists of fate all play major roles in how this couple's relationship started and how it continues to evolve. This book really had my emotions going all over the place. There is sweetness and poignancy, heartache and laughter, anger and frustration and joy and devastation ahead, so settle in and enjoy the ride but beware the stunning cliffhanger that will have you gasping and looking to throw something across the room. I need book three yesterday!! If you love reads that are all about The Feels, this series should be on the top of your TBR pile. This is my sincere and totally impartial review.

Book 2 in the Rivals series and OMG what a story. This is a continuation of book 1 so you will need to read that get the feel of this book. Tyler and Annie meet up again at school and they chemistry and attraction that was between them was still there. Loved the slow burn and push/pull between them. Then the ending happened and I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room. I don’t want to wait for book 3, I need to know how their story ends. Great read and wonderful character and very hard to put down. I read this in one sitting and loved every minute of it. Great job Piper. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read book 3.

I’m loving this beautiful story as it continues with Tyler and Annie reconnecting slowly and showing support for each other over time. Annie is harboring a secret that Tyler feels she should share...she wants to wait until a certain event which leads to things going differently. I love how the relationship dynamic evolved as they are now more mature. The ending was a complete surprise that left me hanging! I cannot wait to see what happens next!

This series is a coming of age story where both characters want to make a name for themselves without outside influences and just want to be noticed for their talent.

The chemistry between Annie and Tyler is so on point with this book you can't help but root for them and their happiness.

Together they are a powerhouse; you can't help but feel the love they have for one another. They each have this vulnerability that the other is drawn to and that is why their connection is so strong.

You can't go wrong with this series! Awesome job Piper.

When A Love Song for Rebels begins, Annie and Tyler end up at the same school, and things are understandably tense between them at first. But those feelings from before never really went away, and soon they're falling right back into each other's orbits. Will a relationship between them work this time around? They're older now, hopefully a bit wiser, so perhaps things will go better for them now that they've matured some.

Annie and Tyler have a strong connection and this time around, it felt much more stable. It will need to be to carry them through the consequences of that damn crazy cliffhanger. Yep, cliffhanger, a really insane one. I liked this second installment - Annie and Tyler have both matured past the angsty emo teens they were previously, and it made me enjoy reading more. And now I'm anxiously awaiting A Love Song for Dreamers. I really hope it's releasing soon because I have to know what's going to become of this couple.

Being the daughter of a rockstar comes with it's disadvantages, everyone has expectations for you and everyone you meet wants to know about your father, rather than know anything about you. Annie sort of feels like she has grown up in the shadow of her father, and she wants the chance to make her own star shine, but her father wants her to have nothing to do with show business. He has seen the ugly side of it and he knows that Annie can't handle the pressures that come along with it, so he dashes her dreams of attending a performing Arts College in New York.

But Annie decides to take matters into her own hands and enrolls anyhow, and tells her father she is going to Columbia... which is certain to backfire on her at some point. But she is hoping she can prove to him before then that New York is where she belongs...

In A Love Song for Rebels we rejoin young lovers Annie and Tyler, whom are both attending performing arts school hoping to hone their craft and find the successes they crave. Neither knew the other would be at this school, but it isn't long into the first week of school when the run into one another, and the sparks start swirling around them. They are both apprehensive about wandering down this road again, but they also can't ignore all that is happening between them. Their slow burn romance brought lots of feeling, passion, and intensity to the pages, they had anticipation levels running high throughout. I really enjoyed following them along on this next step in their lives, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for them. After that cliffhanger I am hoping that there is a little happiness lying ahead for these two, they certainly deserve it. Highly recommend this one, it's certain to take you on one heck of an emotional roller-coaster ride!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

OMG, this book is fantastic, from the first page till the last-and let me tell you... the ending is a doozy!

The story continues in New York with both Tyler and Annie attending Vanier College. This is a huge growth period, a time of realizations and understandings, of testing the water and showing loyalty.

In this book we see both main characters really develop and grow, I liked who they’ve become too- a lot. They certainly have moved on but their chemistry is still supercharged and explosive, the intimacy they shared was steamy but also deep and meaningful. I thoroughly enjoyed the new characters introduced in this book too, I won’t spoil it for others but I will say I enjoyed them better than the secondary characters in the previous book-except for Pen... she’s a good egg and still in this book.

So what makes this a 5-star story?
* Great descriptions of characters and scenes
* A plethora of emotions you feel with the characters
* A solid storyline that flows smoothly
* It’s fast-paced and easy to read due to the above point
* I couldn’t put the book down!

Bring on A Love Song For Dreamers!

**I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

Gah, shouldn't have finished this so early, now I have to wait even longer for the finale!

This book was a step up for me from the last one. Gone are their high school days and it shows. Annie and Tyler have grown and matured so they start to talk more about their feelings and wants instead of just holding a silent, angsty grudge against each other. And I liked the conversations and developments that happened as a result. They're coming into themselves, figuring out what is important and what they want. And most important of all: they are fighting for those dreams and wants.

There's more than enough drama and twists to keep the story moving. Piper has a great knack for writing dramatics that are entertaining but grounded in some realism and I find as a reader, you really get sucked into the characters' lives and their emotions. I really appreciated the struggles and the successes all the more because I feel like I know these characters so well.

And the chemistry!!!! These two had it when they were preteens together in the original Wicked Series but it is off the charts here! The tension is so thick and heated. You just know they belong together--even when they try to fight it themselves.

This did not disappoint and I can't wait for the next one!

I now have the Annie and Tyler movie playing in my head with all the tidbits of them from the Wicked series added to their continuing story in the prequel to this series, and in these two books. I have experienced high school with them, and now college. They met and formed a bond right on the cusp of adolescence, when best friends are everything. That's why their connection is so strong, and why they engage so easily with each other despite periods of separation. They share something that predates the emotional barriers they erected later. They are already in each other's hearts, and all the obstacles can't change that. Their core friendship still shines through, and they look out for each other. Love is caring for the other person as much as you care about yourself, and they really prove that in this book.

Annie in particular really impressed me with the sacrifice she made for Tyler. I felt for her so much when she realized the full extent of what it means to be the daughter of a rock star and how that will affect her own dreams for herself. It's one of those moments we can all identify with on some level, because we've all experienced those rude awakening moments when we realize how naive we were. Losing that rosy view of the world is the part of growing up that really sucks.

As a consolation prize, Annie and Tyler finally get to have some seriously sexy times in this book. That's one of the awesome things about growing up. No more having to sneak around and worry about the wrath of parents.

Or do they? Because their troubles aren't over yet. If only everyone will just let them be happy! After that ending, I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I'm also starting to think that one more book won't be enough for me. I think I'm going to need a lot more Annie and Tyler.
