Boeing Suspends 787 Production at South Carolina Plant

Reacting to the situation caused by the coronavirus and in an attempt to contain the spread of the pandemic, Boeing has decided to temporarily suspend all 787 operations at Boeing South Carolina (BSC) until further notice.

The decision comes into effect at the end of second shift on Wednesday, 8 April, 2020, and impacts the Airport Campus, Emergent Operations, Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina and Propulsion South Carolina.

According to a statement, those employees of the plant that are able to work remotely, will continue to do so. Those who cannot perform their work from home, will have a possibility to have paid leave for 10 working days of the operations halt.

After 10 days, employees will have the option to use a combination of available paid time off benefits or file for emergency state unemployment benefits.

Also, Boeing has indefinitely extended the suspension of its production operations at its Washington state facilities amid the coronavirus.
