Cass

Watchers exist by one rule: keep your Nephilim alive. No matter what.

Protecting, following, watching from the shadows, I’ve served my time. Now, all that stands between me and returning home is her.

Hannah Kelley. The last of her line. My final charge. So long as she stays breathing for the next fifty to seventy years, I’ll have completed my punishment. No longer a Fallen.

Except now, she knows who I am. She knows what I am.

And I have no doubt she’s about to make my existence an absolute hell.

Hannah

I lost everything I loved at once, my world ripped apart in an instant.

I’ve been alone ever since. At least, I thought I was until I met him. A guardian angel. My Watcher. The immortal asshole interfering with every aspect of my life.

Once Cass steps out of the shadows, I have no way of putting him back. Even though I desperately want to. He’s not exactly thrilled with my existence either. I’m keeping him from the eternity he’s been waiting for after all.

But whether we love or hate each other, our fates are intertwined—his forever tied to my life.

And when Cass decides he wants that forever to include me, I fear for anything in Heaven or Hell that might try to get in his way.

Fallen Rebel can be read as a complete standalone and is the first book in the When Watchers Fall series.

It’s been a while since I read a book about angels and this book reminded me of everything I love about them. I really liked Ms. Blaine’s interpretation of creation, angels, demons, divinity, and everything in between. You can tell she put a lot of thought into how the pieces would fit together because her world building was executed well.

I’m a sucker for asshole heroes and let’s face it, Cass starts off not really enjoying his gig. It’s interesting how things don’t change until they’re ready to. Something could be in front of your face and until you make the conscious effort to see it, you won’t. Hannah was a great heroine. I liked that she was smart, observant, and she trusted her instincts. She wasn’t just a passive participant in her own story. They matched well and their intimate interactions were combustible.

I am really excited by the secondary characters that were introduced. Each added something special to the dynamic of the group and were used effectively to move the story forward. I will definitely be adding this “new to me” author to my list of must reads.

I haven't read a Nephilim in a while so I was ridiculously happy when I read the blurb of this. I couldn't wait to read it. It was different. It was gripping. I enjoyed it.

Hannah Kelly is the last charge of Cass and his way back into heaven if she lives her life the way it was intended and does of old age and natural causes. But the job has gotten more difficult to do. Cass can't hide from Hannah anymore and she intends to make his life miserable. He is Hannah's guardian and although he knows everything about her and has watched her all her life, he seems to be drawn to her more now. Spending time with Hannah Kelly is different and he can't help but want to be around her more. Not because it's his duty but because he wants to. The reasons for making sure no harm falls upon her changes especially when something is threatening her existence.

The romance between Hannah and Cass was not rushed and I liked that. Hannah did not fall upon Cass feet when she met him which made me enjoy this story even more but... what I didn't like about this book was

This was my first time reading this author and it won't be my last.

Once again CG Blaine has left me in awe of her talent. I LOVED Fallen Rebel, and the paranormal world that Blaine has crafted is fascinating and immaculate. Unique enough to be fresh and authentic, but familiar enough to allow for full reader immersion into the plot without feeling foreign or uncomfortable. I was able to settle seamlessly within the story, connect deeply with the characters, and fall in love completely with the entire book. I’m giving 5 stars to Fallen Rebel, and I am adding the rest of the series to my mental TBR. I need more of this rowdy bunch of rebel angels, and I cannot wait to get it.

Cass is a watcher, a fallen angel tasked with guarding an entire bloodline of nephilim until they die of natural causes. Only when the last one dies naturally can Cass return home, to heaven, as an angel. Hannah Kelley is the last nephilim charge standing between Cass and his eternity. If he can get her safely through her lifetime, his task will be complete and his duty fulfilled. Hannah is nothing to Cass but a job. She is simply an annoying burden keeping him from his forever…until she isn’t.

Cass is PERFECT, and I am obsessed with him. He’s everything I could have hoped for in a fallen “don’t call me a guardian angel” angel. His broody attitude and snarky wit had me hooked from the first line, and he is sexy AF. I mean COME ON, who doesn’t love a sexy alpha angel who shows a vulnerable caring side and isn’t afraid to fall in love? I want a Cass. I’m serious. He’s dropped his ass right to the front of my book boyfriend harem and will likely stay there for a while.

And Hannah Kelley? I love her sweet and sassy personality. I love how she put herself back together after being broken, and how she is no-nonsense and fearless in the face of a challenge. The girl might seem quiet and unassuming, but she’s no stranger to pain, and she can handle quite literally anything that life throws at her (including scorching demon fireballs). She’s strong AF, and I am amazed by her.

This book had everything I love. It made me feel all the feels, it made me think, it kept me on my toes, and it was HELLA SEXY. The hero and heroine were perfect, together and separately, and the secondary characters were just as dynamic and intriguing as the main characters. I’m already salivating over the thought of the next connected standalone in this series. CG Blaine is officially on my one-click list. She’s such a talented storyteller, and her writing style is flawless and flows beautifully. Fallen Rebel is another perfect example of her creativity and skill.

Gaaaaaaah, CG Blaine, how are you so good? And where can I get a Cass of my own? I give Fallen Rebel 5 stars, and I need to own it in ebook and paperback and I will possibly get a tattoo of Cass’s name, too. Because I floved it.

“𝒜 𝒻𝑜𝓇𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇’𝓈 𝑜𝓇𝓉𝒽 𝑜𝒻 𝒻𝑜𝓇𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓈.”

Cassannah are what dreams are made of. Seriously. Don’t believe me? Read on.

For starter’s, our angel wants absolutely nothing to do with his charge at the beginning. She’s an inconvenience in his life, and a deterrent, keeping him from what he wants most.
But oh, when he starts spending time, even unwillingly, with her, how that perspective changed.

Hannah is a grieving girl, with little to no faith, and no reason to have any. And then, Cass storms into her life with rescues.
I love Hannah, alone, with her friend, Terra, and most especially with Cass.

Blaine sent me reeling with the twist, I needed to solve the mystery, but the book wasn’t overcrowded with various plot lines, either. The entire story flowed so well from beginning to end, I genuinely forgot I was reading a book and not living a really strange new life.

I giggled my way through some of the scenes with just Hannah and Terra. The glitter made me laugh so hard, and I wanted to hug Terra for the way she cared for her friend. (“Oh God, now I know their names.”) 😂

With just the right amount of steam, and an actual love story unfolding in these pages, I highly recommend this read.

All of the stars! All of the love! I absolutely loved Cas and Hannah!

I am now after reading now even sure what I was expecting. Cas is tasked to protect Hannah and then maybe he’ll get back to heaven. But how can he stay at arms length with this gorgeous girl who’s life and grief he’s been an observer to.

Hannah doesn’t know all the secrets surrounding her life and what Cas has been existing for starts to blur as danger is eminent and lines are crossed. These two together are so beautiful together and tender towards each other. It’s just so intense I could not put it down. I had to know what was about to happen.....

Literally alllllll hell broke loose and you’re going to be pissed and maybe wanna yell or cry. I just didn’t see the twists and betrayals. I knew I needed a different kind of romance story and this was it! Exactly what i wanted! I can’t not wait to see what happens next with the fallen.

Holy freaking smokes this is one of the best paranormal reads I have read in a LONG time- CG Blaine, I am freaking SMITTEN and an instant fan of yours! Where have you been all of my life?? Fallen Rebel had it all- humor, chemistry, angst, ANGELS, demons, and more. The actual plot was easy to follow, moved smoothly, and had me completely emerged in the story, we all "know" about Angels, but trust me, you know nothing about Cass! I might be fanning myself thinking about this broody and sexy Fallen Angel.....

No spoilers, because those are stupid, but if you like Angel/Demon romances and like being sucked into that world- Fallen Rebel is not just a must read it is a READ RIGHT NOW type of book. I cannot stress to you how great it was. I connected immediately with the characters and freaking fell in love with Cass on the first page. CG Blaine does a great job of mixing humor (seriously funny parts at just the right moments) and lust and chemistry and ANGELS into a wonderful package called Fallen Rebel. Please, please, please read this right now- you will not regret it- I would give this book more than 5 stars if possible.

PS: THANK YOU to CG Blaine and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of this book!

A new to me author and something a bit different genre wise for me and I enjoyed it. Cass is an angel who has to keep Hannah alive and it's not an easy task because she is a magnet for trouble. i loved their early interactions it was fun watching them circling each other and the very obvious attraction they have. Cass is a moody so and so and trust me it will be hard not to fall for his sexy self. Hannah is funny sassy and just adorable. The story is full of mysterious people, spells amulets and demons. With enough intrique to keep the reader guessing this was a really enjoyable read. I will be looking out for more from this author and series.

Fallen Rebel was an intriguing paranormal romance between an angel and a nephilim and it had me hooked from beginning to end. This was my first C.G. Blaine novel and I enjoyed it. The story was well-written and detailed, with some unexpected plot twists and interesting characters. I loved Cass and Hanna together, they had great chemistry and I was rooting for them throughout the story. With some unexpected twist you won't see coming, this novel was a such a good read and I would recommend it to all Paranormal lovers.

Fallen Rebel gives us swoony asshole angels, sassy college girls, and a love that rivals all the stars!

It's hard not to fall in love with Cass. He's an angry, broody asshole. Yet when you see inside of him, you realize he harbors a lot of hurt and regret. Hannah is sassy and I loved her for it. She doesn't put up with Cass' attitude and shows him how to love. These two together are hot as sin and sweet as heaven.

I adored Fallen Rebel.

I loved this book. My favorite part of a book is the characters and the dialog between them and let me say this book did not disappoint on either of those. The plot wasn't the most original but for me, it didn't take away from my love of this book. There's not too much to say about this story since it was more on the lighter side. If you are looking for a new adult romance with a smart ass hot angle to get lost in then I would definitely pick this book up.

I started this book not realizes that it was the same author I had read yesterday. Sometimes I don’t pay attention when recommendations are made. Anyway, I did t like the last book because the guy was a manwhore, her we go in this book and it’s the heroine who is basically a slut. She has the hot steamy hookup with her guardian angel. And I assumed they would be starting their relationship. Literally the next paragraph says “I hooked up with Gave a few days later and didn’t see Cass for a month”. What a freaking slut! Why write this? I thought I was reading about her and the guardian angel. That’s what I signed up for. I will have to be more careful in the future. This author is definitely one to avoid if you like loyal (and “non-slutty, at least once they’ve met their hero/heroine”) characters.

Fallen Rebel was a really original story about Nephilim, and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down until every last page was devoured, so I was up until the wee hours of the morning because I was insane enough to start it at bedtime (rookie mistake). Cass is a fallen angel, who is being punished made into a watcher. Watchers are assigned Nephilim to keep safe, as they can't get back into Heaven until all their charges die of natural causes (or if their time is up), and Cass has one Nephilim left, so as long as he keeps her alive, then he can finally go home, but if she's killed he won't ever be able to go home, AND if she gets pregnant, then he's stuck watching over another generation. Hannah has no idea what she is, all she knows is that her parents died too early, and she's trying to get on with her life in college, but she still suffers quite a bit missing them. Cass is always there in the shadows keeping an eye on her, not to mention sabotaging her love life to keep things safe, but at first, he really came off cold & selfish for me. Anyway, funny things start to happen like random demon attacks, which aren't so random as they keep happening, and Cass is trying to figure out why. As he spends more & more time in Hannah's presence, he starts to catch feelings, and of course she does as well. So, can Cass keep Hannah alive, and can they actually have a relationship?! Please one click Fallen Rebel to find out! I'm super excited about this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

"In the beginning, there was only darkness. Then there was bullshit."

Cass is a Watcher, an angel in charge of making sure the Nephilim lines on Earth go out naturally. His current and final charge is Hannah. Once she lives out the rest of her life, he is free to return to Heaven finally. And he can't wait.

"What’s that saying? One step forward, two steps back? With Hannah and me, it’s more like one step sideways, run backward for a quarter of a mile."

When Hannah learns the truth about Cass, she is less than thrilled to have a guardian angel who has been following her her whole life and will continue to be around for the rest of it. But there's not much she can do about the arrangement. When demons are suddenly trying to take out the remaining nephilim, the two find themselves starting to get closer and closer.

"The girl I thought was an obstacle between me and everything I could ever want. But that’s not Hannah anymore, and maybe it never was. She’s so much more. She might actually be the everything I stand to lose."

This was just a great paranormal romance! Cass and Hannah are so swoony and I loved watching their relationship go from can't stand each other to in love. It went at such a great speed too! No insta-love here thank god. I was completely captivated the whole time! This was a well developed story line with plenty of details and world building to really get you sucked in. Recommended for fans of Alpha-holes turned sweet cinnamon rolls, paranormal romances, and gripping storylines. I give this 5 stars and cant wait to read more from CG!

Fallen Rebel was the perfect book to get lost in! This was a new to me author. I was in love with the blurb, I love reading fallen angel books and this one didn't disappoint! The storyline was new and exciting, the fictional origin was intriguing. I really loved the book from start to finish. It's not a short story but it doesn't bog you down with details and you don't get lost. It was a fun, sexy, sweet and thrilling read. The characters were Amazing! I loved Cass and his brothers, their relationship was fun and real. Hannah was instantly likable, you connect with her and feel for all she's been through. Cass and Hannah's relationship is really Beautiful...Sigh. Their connection is intense and watching it grow was everything that makes you fall in love. Their passion is all-consuming and they can't get enough of each other. Cass has been watching the Kelly line for a long time, He's just trying to watch his last charge and complete his sentence. Danger is lurking around Hannah and the other charges, plotting, waiting, making his job harder and tension high. I'm very happy with this read, I found a new favorite, I'll be waiting for the other Watcher's books! If you're looking for a read that you can sink into, that gives you all the feels and excitement of paranormal and mystery..this is your book! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Amy's Review

I quickly and easily fell into this book.  It was a fast paced storyline full of action.  The storyline built steadily, keeping me on my toes, and trying to figure out how it would all play out.  I got a little nervous at the seventy percent mark that the storyline wouldn't wrap up by the end of the book, but the author was able to put it all together for an explosive conclusion.

Cass is exactly the kind of character I love.  He's a loveable ahole who can infuriate you, and in the next breath have you swooning.  He is broody, easily bored, and drives a freaking motorcycle!  He is also fiercely loyal, incredibly smart, and funny in his own broody kind of way.  I liked everything about this character, and hope to see more of him in this series.

Hannah was a hard character for me.  While I liked her she didn't have that "it" thing that made me fall in love with her.  She had many redeeming qualities, she was loyal, protective, and very kind.  But something about her just didn't click for me.

I liked the flashes of history, the incredible secondary characters, and getting to see jaded angels having some fun.  This was a great book, and it left me excited for the next few books in this series.

My favorite C.G. story. I started this book and unfortunately had to work in the morning but let me tell you I was 20% started and Cass and Hannah had me thinking about calling out.

They are original with not a typical paranormal story. They didn't even like each other. Cass is in change of keeping Hannah alive. Which proves to be a challenge. He has to tell her he's an Angel and she has to stay safe with no children...yeah imagine being told that.

These two actually feel the other in ways that prove it's not as simple as Cass would hope. I love how Hannah messes with him and does it so well. But demons are getting closer. Can an Angel and an ancient secret keep from falling?

This story deserves 1,000 sparkling shinny stars. It's addictive, brightly written with characters who will pull you in to their lives and leave you hanging on the edge. The drama is high, the temperature between them will opening a window and the fate of the world lies between them and our incredible support system cast. I can't wait for Chaz story. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Angels and demons like you've never read before...

I'll start this review by saying I enjoyed this book IMMENSELY! Urban fantasy is my jam, and CG Blaine killed it. The world building here is simple and yet so engaging you don't want to leave. And even though this IS a book about angels, the author doesn't beat you over the head with righteous Christianity, which I very much appreciated. The magic and spells and amulets etc lent a bit of a Buffy vibe, which I *loved*. The writing is so good, fast paced and FUNNY. OMG Ms. Blaine is so funny, all of her books have had me rolling, and this one was no different. Cass the grumpy guardian angel roaring around on his motorcycle is a baddass, no doubt, but he's totally blindsided by his soft spot for his charge Hannah. Seriously, it's fvcking adorable, and it all comes to an EPIC climax that had me standing on my chair shouting YEAH!

And even though Blaine gives us this studly cast of guardian angels, I'm over here fangirling for the demon Abaddon. I hope he gets his own story! I ain't right, I know... XD

I give this book ALL the stars! ::throws confetti::

I’m weary about paranormal romances these days. Except for Laura Thalassa recently, I’ve essentially avoided this sub-genre for the last five years. Alpha wolves? Been there. Vampires? Puhleeze. Bears, eagles, fairies, aliens, witches/warlocks/sorcerers? Check, check, and check. Ditto on the angels and demons, actually. I still have fond memories of Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush series and of Lauren Kate’s “Fallen” books. So, I don’t know what drew me to C.G. Blaine’s “Fallen Rebel,” but I’m 100% glad I got picked for an ARC.

The book’s premise is pretty simple (see the blurb above), but Blaine’s writing style moves the story along in a fast, yet enjoyable, pace – making it, literally, a page-turner. You’d always want to know what’s gonna happen next – who that new character is, why Samy (Cass’ Watcher “leader”) is off the grid, who the heck is Lydia anyway, and so on and so forth. “Fallen Rebel” is sexy, fun, exciting, and sexy. Yes, it deserves to be described as such twice. Now, I kinda regret it, though, because book 2 is not scheduled to arrive anytime soon yet. Maybe that’ll be my Christmas book wish #156?

Cass is officially my new favorite love interest. While I really want everyone to read this book, the possessive me, the this is my new book boyfriend me, doesn’t want you to. Yet how can I be that selfish as to deny you the opportunity to have this fabulous book in your life? Fallen Rebel is a stunning beginning to what promises to be a thrilling new series from C.G. Blaine.

Fallen angel Cass must protect his charge, Hannah, at all costs. The story changes POVs throughout, which is a narration style that I absolutely love. We got a lot of back story on each character individually and that just added to my love for each of them. The overall writing style was wonderful. Everything in the story flowed beautifully and I was truly swept away, I read the entire book in one sitting! The romance is sweet and believable, there is also action that is fast paced and invigorating. I anxiously await book 2 in the When Watchers Fall series!

I didn't know anything about this book.Just decided to pick it up and it was fast and easy to read.

I liked the flow of the story and was interested most of the time.I got bored at a certain point but it was okay as the story itself was addicting.

I think I liked Cass from chapter 1.He was infuriating ,brooding and caring. A great mix in my opinion.

I had to suspend my disbelief alittle because Hannah agreed to go with Cass after just saving her 2 times but that's normal with this type of story.
I hated how she treated Gabe. She forgot him after he defended her😐. So I think that shows that I was here for Cass more than Hannah.

Random note: I love Tamiel as a name more.

I liked the friendship between Hannah and Terra and wanted more of it.

Overall, That was an enjoyable read and I am glad the next book is about Chaz. I liked him a lot.

I really enjoyed this book. It was nothing like I expected. You have angels, demons, nephilim among others. How would you react finding out you're a nephilim? That's exactly what happened to Hannah. Hannah has been through the loss of her parents. That hasn't been easy for her to get through. Her guardian angel is watching over her constantly. Until one day he has to bump into her to save her life. She is his last charge. He needs to keep her safe until she dies naturally. He ends up back to Heaven, but like anything else nothing goes as planned. You must truly read this book. Thank you United Indie Book blog for allowing me to read this book.

I’ve always loved books and stories about angels, especially fallen angels. This story was not only a great story, it felt really original. I haven’t read anything with this particular idea.
Take a Nephilim, a brooding fallen angel, his fallen brothers, and some evil bad guys and you get this incredible read!
I really loved Hannah, but Cass was it for me. He was the epitome of brooding rebel until he was quite simply perfection! I loved the chemistry and connection between them.
Chaz’s book is next, but I’m really dying for Ros’s book!
I was incredibly fortunate to receive an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Having followed and been CG's self-labelled cheerleader since her first book I always worried there might come a time when I wouldn't relate or enjoy something she wrote, so when she wrote this I thought the time had maybe come. Not normally a person who gravitates to fantasy (sorry if it's labelled something else) I was hesitating hard but once again she hooked me to follow Cass and Hannah's unconventional but amazing story. A convert and anxious about the next book in the series CG has tapped into a part of me that doesn't mind reading "outside" of the box.

Cass is everything. From the first line C. G. Blaine had me hooked. The way she writes is so simple and flows nicely. But the story, I can't even call it a story because she created an entire world. The dynamic between Cass and Hannah is immediately calling to you. As always she doesn't have to have a dramatic middle to keep you compelled. It's a steady pulse of two torn individuals learning each other and finding love. If you like romance this book is for you. If you like paranormal, this book is for you. If you just like to read, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

C.G. Blaine has outdone herself with this one! Fallen Rebel is unlike any fallen angel story I’ve read before. There’s serious attitude, swearing, drinking, and some really hot sexy moments.

Cass is a fallen angel. Hannah is his “charge” and the last in her line that he has to keep safe before he can return to heaven. But his desire to get back to heaven is outweighed by his desire for her. 😏

If you haven’t read Fallen Rebel yet get your copy. It’s also available on Kindle Unlimited.

A brilliant twist on angels and demons!

This story is sweet, sassy, unique and has lots of action. The story shows how you have to challenge yourself and think outside the box and how what you think you have always know is correct, sometimes looking at it from a different angle can change it up. The relationship between Cass and Hannah is brilliant and loved their personalities. Looking forward to more! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
