Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the new low-cost carrier of the capital city and now the 5th airline in the UAE, has received Air Operating Certificate (AOC) giving the green light for the airline’s operations.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is a join venture established by Etihad Airways and Air Arabia. The new independent budget airline will have its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

“Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will continue to work closely with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to finalise the launch date as market conditions improve and skies are open again”, Air Arabia said in a statement.

This positive move actually proves the importance of aviation to the UAE and demonstrates the strength of this industry in the region.

Nevertheless, Abu Dhabi is expected to see the birth of another low-cost carrier soon – Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. Even during these hard times Wizz Air is determined to proceed with its plans and launch the operations even ahead of the schedule.
