Exposed: A Friends-to-Lovers Romance (Kingdoms of Sin Book 2) Kindle Edition
I knew I loved Elias Lancaster and that he loved me.
At least I always thought he did.
But for some reason, he always found an excuse not to be with me.
The pain I felt as my childhood love rejected me, again and again, after promising me the world when we were kids…
Well, it just wouldn’t go away.
No matter how hard I tried.
Desperate times called for desperate measures, and I never wanted to be considered desperate, but I knew if something didn’t change soon, I’d lose Elias for good and die of a broken heart.
No one told me how many times my heart could break in the process.

Ok so this is book 2 in the series and is Elias and Mara’s story.
Elias and Mara have been friends since childhood. And throughout their friendship they realised that they’ve always been in love with each other. But for various reasons have never actually gotten together.
Ok so these two really frustrated at times because they just didn’t communicate with each other.
It’s clear that their in love, so why Elias never told Mara about his deal I’ll never know. It wasn’t even anything bad so why he couldn’t tell her about it, I’ve no idea.
And because Elias was so hot and cold with her Mara went about her life, which then earned her even more of a cold shoulder from Elias.
I just really wanted him to open up to her & be honest. She loved him & would accept him & love him.
Instead he listened to other people & allowed them to influence him.
I also wasn’t entirely sure about what he wanted at times. One moment he wanted her to hate him then the next he didn’t like it when he pushed her away.
Now Mara was a little bit hard to like at first, but I actually get her frustration at the situation and that she’s been through a lot and her family is in turmoil and no one is telling her anything. The people around her kept telling her she needed to step up and listen but then wouldn’t actually tell her anything. And at times I felt her frustration.
I liked her friendship with Alex, he was there for her the entire time and sometimes I felt like he was the man who actually deserved her.
But once Elias realised that he could actually lose her for good. He did man up somewhat. The book also carries over some of the suspense from the first book which I quite liked.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2020Exposed by Willow Aster is the second standalone romance in the ongoing drama of her Kingdoms of Sin series. This is the story of Mara - sister to Luka from book one, Downfall, and an all-around dislikable character. I mean, I really hated her in Downfall. The fact that she gets her story next must mean she has a lot to tell, right? Damn she sure does! And the learning curve she experiences is a painful one. Not just for Mara but for those around her. Her brother Luka is blind to most of the poison that mara spits at his wife, Eden, but as time progresses he does begin to see how damaging her behavior is. Mara can never seem to please her mother and with her father now in prison she is lost as to what comes next. But slowly she starts to figure out the correct and proper path and manages to steer herself into the direction of a good and productive royal and not a vicious cat with nothing nice to say or do for anyone. Her love, Elias, is a saint to have always put up with her in the past but as a saint he also (like Luka) could see the good in her, even when she kept it so far hidden from herself. Enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 January 2020This is book two of the series and to have a better understanding of the story I recommend reading Downfall first. Mara is a character that I truly disliked her actions really didn't make her a likeable person. However I had a complete reversal with her story and as we got to know her I was on her side. I was willing someone to look at why she was acting out and be fully on her side. I love when an author manages to turn my expectations around and Willow did it with ease. Elias has always been her one no matter how much they hurt each other. He certainly wasn't perfect to be truthful at times I wanted to give him a slap but I still loved him. The drama and intrigue following the royal family continues with twists and turns I never expected. They say you can't choose your family and that is so true of this famiy they truly are a nest of vipers. I struggled slightly with the first book as I didn't connect with the characters but I really enjoyed this one.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 January 2020This is the 2nd book in this series and is Elias and Mara’s tale. I must admit I was not too keen on Mara in #1, however, she certainly redeems herself in this novel. These two are both broken souls yet together they are perfect. This is a well written story which is emotional, humorous, raw, gritty, intense, and a steamy read with sizzling chemistry. I highly recommend for all and look forward to reading the next novel in this addictive series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful escape read
I love the characters in this new story. I loved them, hated them and was completely captivated by them. I read this book in one sitting because once I started it, there was no stopping. When it ended, I wanted more. I’m so happy this was only the second book of four in The Kingdoms of Sin series as I’ve become addicted to these characters. Love Willow Aster’s ability to make a story come alive and grab my heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well, well, well
I did not like her, no I did not, she was not a nice person in the first book or some of this one. A spoilt, selfish, all about me princess, grrr. He wasn't free of blame either, stoopid males, why are they such idjits, setting themselves up as martyrs, when they're just being pig headed & stubborn. Rant over, liked this book, great characters, great storylines, totally worth reading

4.0 out of 5 stars An Addicting Read with a Strong Heroine
Exposed was an addicting read. I couldn’t put it down for long. It can be read as a stand-alone. I absolutely loved the heroine. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to say. She showed some real growth through the book. The hero was okish. He was caught up on not deserving the heroine. Honestly, at the end of the book, he didn’t really deserve her. I don’t think he was inherently a bad person. He spiraled. We never see the growth of him redeeming himself from it. That bugged me a little. Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first and look forward to what is to come.
