Asking for Trouble

The song You Can Leave Your Hat On kept looping though my brain while reading yet another fantastic story from one of my favorite fictional places Credence, Colorado. Where the men outnumber the women and it's small town yum at it's finest! Pull up a barstool and sit next to me at Jack's so we can watch Della and Tucker as their story unfolds. Della is the younger half sister to Arlo, the town's police chief and best friend to Tucker. Della has been living with Arlo for three years after he rescued her from an abusive marriage. Saying Arlo is overprotective of Della would be an understatement and is definitely a tad grumpy. Tucker owns Lumberjack's aka Jack's where he's been keeping Della company as she's been perched on a barstool slurping Pina Colada's for the last three years. She's got her eye on Tucker, but Tucker's totally friend zoned her because bro-code and all that. But he's got it bad for Della, seriously bad. Della's been through three years of therapy and feels like she's ready to get back into the dating game for signs up on a dating app. Tucker is the only one who knows and to insure Della's well being and his own reasons he becomes her wingman. Della has a job at the old folks home in town which is full of colorful characters that were hilarious. She gets some dating advice from a few of the residents. Della also enlists Tucker to teach her to drive. She wants independence as well. Della's past isn't pretty and Amy handles that with grace and honesty. When Tucker has to drive Della to her therapist appointment in Denver they pass a large sex shop along the highway and Della asks Tucker about it, Tucker's response is comical. In fact Tucker in his totally awkward, trying to hold back, fighting his feelings way is a standout character along with his sidekick Della. I loved Della- sassy, a tad naive because of her past, but her spunky spirit and innocent but lusty character just charmed me. Another member of the trio Jack's along with Arlo would be Drew who picks up on Tucker and Della's vibes and busts his chops over that. When Tucker fesses up, Drew's sworn to secrecy. Arlo isn't happy Della's learning to drive, so when she announces she's getting her own place, he just about threw a hissy. Della gets a car and the road trip includes a day out with her friends, the car full of women head out to the sex shop because that's what women do! Along for the ride is Winona, the town's erotic novel writer, whose many talents extend to somehow getting under Arlo's skin. Just what is going on with those two?? I need to know! My kindle shot steam as things slowly heated up between Tucker and Della! Flying under the radar and hiding their relationship from Arlo wasn't easy. Della didn't seem to mind much but Tucker about beat himself to death with the whole guilt thing. Things were moving along though until one day Tucker lost every bit of good sense he had, made me want to smack him. His day of reckoning awaits! The story felt like going home, returning to Credence is an easy trip, the characters are stellar, a little wacky and a lot nosy! I loved watching Della come into her own, she was so well written and Tucker... gotta a love a cowboy who can make a Pina Colada. The supporting characters are the best and I can't wait to see if we get Arlo and Winona's story next! Another stellar read from Amy. Cue the music!

I loved this book! I love the characters in this series and loved learning Della's story. She arrived in Credence damaged and fragile from her horrific marriage that ended with her husband being arrested by her brother. Her brother then made it his mission to take care of her and provide an environment that made her feel safe so she could heal. However, as Della began to heal and thrive, she set her sights on Tucker, her brother's best friend. A serious violation of the bro-code, Tucker is resolved to fighting his attraction to Della. As their story evolves, it is both sweet and sexy, with enough depth to make it feel real. In fact, readers should be aware that, while handled with a gentle touch, the abuse Della experienced is described. Fans of the genre will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Della and Tucker’s emotional story in Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews, book three in her Credence, Colorado series, was a humorous, sexy, and emotional story that checks all the boxes. There’s the hot bartender, best friend’s little sister, a woman with emotional baggage getting back into dating scene, Tinder disasters, reluctant wingman, driving instructor, and sex shop shenanigans. Sexy bartender Tucker has watched traumatized Della bloom from her cocoon into a butterfly, wanting a normal life. As Della adjusts to having a normal life, Tucker is the one by her side, helping her, guiding her, and encouraging her; but he drew the line at taking her to explore the sex shop. The scene where these two dissect the Tinder offerings and pictures is hysterical Della asking Tucker to give her sex lessons, even if in secret, showed how far this sex abuse survivor had come. You know Tucker has to be one of the good ones when he remembers Della saying she wanted a dog someday and then brings her one when she moves into her own place. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and they are perfect for each other. Ms. Andrews wrote a wonderful, funny, sexy and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich that sizzled with their chemistry, humorous conversations, and endearing characters giving Della and Tucker a chance at love, happiness, and a future together. I highly recommend Asking for Trouble to other readers and look forward to reading the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
