Fate's Fables Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 361 ratings

Create anything with the stroke of a pen.
Power of a god or ultimate destruction?
Fate will decide.

Seventeen-year-old fantasy author, Fate Floyd, is suddenly ripped from her strangely charmed life and cast between the covers of a deadly storybook realm in search of a magical object only she can retrieve.

While that would normally be an awesome beginning for her next book, nothing from even her darkest imaginings could have prepared her for the horde of mythic monsters and seductive fae out for her blood.

Then there’s Finn. The young, golden-haired Scottish druid who looks as if he stepped straight off the pages of her secret journal. She will soon discover why he feels so achingly familiar and way too good to be true...

But Fate must first come to grips with her unpredictable new power, because she learns the hard way that while some words of magic make dreams come true, others create nightmares. Can Fate survive long enough to write a happy ending to make her escape, or will she spell her doom?

Brimming with fierce magic, breath-taking action and a heart-wrenching romance, Fate’s Fables, is perfect for readers of Holly Black, Sarah J. Maas and Brigid Kemmerer.

T. Rae Mitchell is an incurable fantasy junkie who spent much of her youth dreaming up worlds and bringing characters to life. While most kids outgrow such things, T. Rae didn’t and she sometimes took playing make-believe a bit far. Like the time a wizard hid a bottle of dragon beans in the back yard and left her son convinced he could grow his own dragons. Needless to say, the beans failed to produce and disappointments were had. That’s when T. Rae decided to funnel her crazy imagination into writing young adult fantasy.

Fate writes fairy tales so one would think she'd be prepared for the weird things that happen in them. when she is spelled into a book whose tales she must make right, Fate finds it is easier to read the story than be the story. collecting friends and love along the way must be able to deal with the consequences of her choices.

I found this to be a charming collection. the age range flexed between young and older teen due not so much as to the occasional love sparks but to the vocabulary. the characters was a nice mix and the changes of scenery played well although there could have been more. all in all, it was a fun read

LOVED this story. I was enchanted with the fables and how they tried to deal with each unique situation. Sistheras was a fun secondary character. I laughed at him many times. Very clean and engaging writing. Fabulous fight scenes, Imperfect characters who fail, misunderstand, and have to fight to get it right.

My ONLY issue, is that I believed I was getting the "Complete boxed set." Yes, this is all the fables of the "First BOOK." It's a series. I hate cliff-hanger series. I was more than happy to get the next book. I immensely enjoyed the story and had to know what happened next. However, it won't be released until Nov. 2016--we hope. I hate that. If you insist on leaving your readers hanging, and not completely finishing a book. Don't publish it until ALL of it is ready.

The story got more interesting towards the second half, but I could not overlook many grammatical errors. It really only got better when Fate stepped up and became stronger. Also the story was incomplete. Another chapter rounding off the story properly is definitely required. The storyline is not bad, but the writing needs to be polished a bit more.

It can be hard to find a fantasy adventure that's refreshingly original, and Fate's Fables fits the bill. I always looked forward to reading more of this book, for its shifting settings and suitable characterization. With that said, there are some issues I have, such as the beginning chapters which seemed too contrived. The plot can also be a little exhausting since there are so many climaxes (there's virtually one for each of the eight fables), and some of the individual stories feel more like fantasy epics than actual "fables." Nonetheless, the journey of Fate and her waifu/new boyfriend was pretty enjoyable.

This series may be listed as for young adults, but as a woman in her (lower!) 40's, I can honestly say they are entertaining for all ages. This boxed set is an incredible buy, too. Individually these books would cost a bit more, and I am delightfully surprised that the author chose to offer them as a bundled deal like this. Each story flows seamlessly to the next, drawing the reader into our heroine "Fate's" adventures. Mitchell weaves the fantasies together expertly, the characters each portraying well thought out and individual personalities. You will find yourself gripped by the adventures Fate, Finn, Sithias, and Gerdie find themselves thrust into. Cannot wait to read more from this author,, and anxiously awaiting the rest of the story in "Fate's Keep!"

I really enjoyed these books! With every story the characters really grow on you, perhaps because they grow a little each time themselves. Great light read. I did not know that this was basically a series that continues into another series...I'm a bit disappointed in that, but I am immensely looking forward to the next installment!
