This was supposed to be simple. Vengeance was mine. But I should know by now that nothing in life is easy.

My endgame has changed all because I met someone who wishes I was dead. Yet her hatred is the only thing saving her from The Big Bad. My lies protect her, so the harder she hates, the safer she is.

The thing about love and hate—it skates a very thin line. I need to stay away. It’s better for everyone if I do. But fighting this is like fighting nature.

Our paths crossed for a reason, and my Tiger isn’t fooled. Once the smoke clears, she will see every player, including me. I don’t deserve a second chance. But I want one…because I want her. The question is, what happens when the truth is finally revealed?

With the end in sight, I can promise you there will be nothing but violence and mayhem.

Oh yes, blood will be shed.

My body, my mind, and my heart are lost to him, and I don’t know if they’ll ever be found.

Truth be told, I'm not a big trilogy or duet girl. More often than not, the next book will lose it's fizzle for me. Or the conclusion feels like filler, stretched out, and total anticlimactic. True story. Most trilogies I've read, I'll devour book one and then the next one will fall short. I'm a picky beoch, okay? Stop looking at me like that.

When I read Bullseye: The Monsters Within Duet Book 1 I was immediately hooked on this dark world. The story was a whirlwind of bloody twists and depraved turns. Bull's story is not for the faint of heart. And when the cliffhanger hit, you were left reeling picking your jaw off of the floor.

To say that I was desperate for the final book would be a small understatement. I was damn near rabid for it. So when this landed on my kindle, I jumped right in. And I devoured it in one sitting. What. A. Ride.

This brings the conclusion of Bull and Tiger's story and it was EPIC. There's so much that happens and I was so here for it. What I loved is even though Bull made peace with his fingers for Tiger, he never once lost the edge that makes him HIM. He was still just as darkly depraved and still focused on his revenge. Only now there was another factor in his motivation; to protect the woman he fell for from a complete and total psychopath.

Admittedly, I struggled buying into Tiger's quick turn around when it came to her brother. It's like a switch was flipped with her and she saw the light. But a part of me got it too. I loved Bull and Tiger's depraved brand of love. They feed each other's demons and I totally got the connection between them.

This story was a non-stop thrill ride full dark twist and turns. It was gritty. It was bloody. It was unputdownable. While the first 20% was a bit slow for me, it picked up quickly by the 30% mark and wouldn't stop until the end. If you're looking for a deliciously dark duet with a revenge plot, a tortured hero, and an imperfectly perfect heroine that falls for him, look no further.

Monica James knows how to write a dark romance and I could not wait to pick up this second part of the Monsters Within Duet. That ending of book two had me dying to know what was going to happen with the romance and Bull's goal of revenge.

When this book started, I will say it started off a little slow. After the bombs that were dropped at the end of the first book, I wanted that intensity to pick right back up in this book. After the initial opening scene, I would say I did not get really invested again until about 35% of the way through. Once things started picking up again, though, I was hooked.

In this book, the stakes were raised even more and you really didn't know who to trust or who was telling the truth. There were a lot of characters in this book and more intense situations introduced. Lots of dark things happen and there was more chemistry than ever between Bull and Tiger. I was hoping for a way for them to work out throughout the entire book, especially when their futures were looking bleak. I love this duet and think that if you're a dark romance lover, you have to pick it up.

Wow! This book is epic. The epic conclusion of Bull and Tiger's story. Miss James is master at twisting plot. Until the very last, she still managed to rip the rug under so I have to hold my breath on the conclusion.

Despite the layer of plot/ twist, I am blown away with the story. I can breath easy now knowing the HEA. I do not want to tell more in my review because I do not want to give the spoiler. Just read this book. This is awesome.

I’ll try not to spoil anything.

𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 is the second and the last book in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒖𝒆𝒕.
I was captivated by Bullseye’s story from the get-go; his story was so tragic and heartbreaking all at once
.
After his brother was killed right in front of his eyes, Bullseye has one and only one goal. Avenge his brother’s death. Two down, two to go.

They say before embarking upon a journey of revenge, dig two graves. Bullseye didn’t think about that because he was a lone wolf. He always believed that he was not worthy of love, until Lily proved him wrong.

"𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒎𝒆… 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍."

She is everything he never thought he needed. She brought his dead heart back to life. But it was too good to be perfect, and when things are too good to be perfect it just means shit’s about to go down.
Now Bullseye is caught in crossfire, will he avenge his brother’s death or save the only woman who ever loved him?

This book was soooo amazing; I was scared shitless for both Bullseye and Lily.
What would happen when he gets his revenge?
Will he find piece?
Will he find his happily ever after?

I don’t wanna talk a lot because I WILL spoil the book if I keep talking, TRUST ME.
I look forward to reading from Monica James, because I’m hooked.

Wow! James fully and completely slayed this duet. This all-consuming story hooked me from the start and held me captive until the very end. It was everything that I love in a story and so much more. It was so good. So intense. So raw. So gritty. So explosively emotional. So incredibly unique. It owned my heart and soul, and is hands down, the best duet of 2020.

I don't want to give anything away, but this book picks up where Bullseye left off and takes off running from there. Bull and Tiger have suffered deeply and painfully in life, and when they come together it's spectacularly beautiful. These two will take you on an epic journey full of highs and lows that will leave you on the edge of your seat utterly breathless and desperate for more.

James did a fantastic job of creating a world of intrigue, passion, loss, violence and love. I simply can't get enough of her dark and twisted tales. She truly is a one of a kind talent. I was glued to every word, every page, devouring this book all in one sitting. I was completely blown away. Five stars and more for Bull, Tiger and Blowback!

BULLSEYE: The Monsters Within Duet Book 1 no spoiler REVIEW

“I can't fix him, can't make him better
And I can't do nothing about his strange weather.”

Shades Of Cool – Lana Del Rey

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Bull was supposed to have it his way. Then Tiger entered his life and things changed.
Yet… The bad guys aren’t safe from this bad guy. Bull will get what he wants and he’ll do whatever it takes because he’s out for blood.

Welcome to Detroit! Queen Monica James takes us to the stripclub and honey, WE ARE HAVING OURSELVES A GOOD TIME (as readers because the poor characters suffer LOL)! Bullseye: The Monsters Within Duet Book 1 is one of my favorite reads this year. Therefore, I was superbly excited to get my hands on the second book. This is the conclusion that I’ve been waiting for. This was a page-turner that I didn’t want to finish reading. I’ll miss Bull. The world James has built is incredibly dark and cruel, welcoming us into the depths of hell. The leads are entertaining in all their downtime and in their dark time. Bull is dark and charming like in book one. His determination has increased since so much more is at stake now.

description

Tiger is… She’s lovely. She didn’t fall into the easy route; she reflected on her surroundings and she chose based on that. I loved this detail about her character. She suffered a lot in this book and I felt so much empathy for her. The two leads are so irresponsibly responsible. That doesn’t make any sense. Neither should the two leads dating make any sense, but, bloody hell, IT DOES. Bull and Tiger’s love story is heart-breaking. UTTERLY HEART-BREAKING. Actually, this entire series is heart-breaking. I felt consumed by the leads’ struggles.

description

The evil guys do a good job as much as I hate their disgusting guts. They present a real and believable threat, making us readers anticipate what THE HELL CAN GO WRONG NEXT. They all had THAT big dick energy about them, but they also had their flaws that made them vulnerable and realistic. Surely, a lot of things went wrong. LIKE, A LOT. I’m still gut-wrenched about one thing that happened that I can’t disclose because it’d be a spoiler.
I recommend this to readers that like their dark reads to include tortured leads, star-crossed lovers and a bunch of bad guys who make our leads’ lives living hell.

HOLY CATS! What a thrilling conclusion to the most intense, twisty duet I ever read. I normally go for the contemporary sappy romance but surprisingly I was hooked and consumed by this one. This author has a talent of using her words and stories to reel you in regardless of genres … After Bullseye I could not wait for book two and Monica did not disappoint. This duet cannot be summarized in a few paragraphs and even after reading the excerpt, it’s still clear as mud. It’s undeniably complicated and commands your full attention to details. You have to obviously read Bullseye first and after a huge cliffhanger ending, don’t expect a nice break in book two. Buckle up for a wild ride!!! Crazy twists and turns, tragedy, revenge, intense, heart stopping violent, betrayal - all wrapped up in one. Bull and Lily’s relationship and journey to freedom is nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Rules are broken, fear, chaos and mayhem but in the end their love survived and blossomed. Love the sweet sweet ending! If you are looking for something totally unique, jaw-dropping, dark, gritty, total mind-f sort of experience – this one is for you. Oh and let’s not forget pretty da*n beautifully written!!!

Book two took it up a notch with the bulk of the development happening in what was an interesting and involved plot. Bull maintained his edge while still being champion to his Tiger. There were some plot points that weren’t necessarily to my taste but I took them for what they were. The pacing was mostly consistent with the exception of the heroine and her interactions with the antagonist of the story.

All in all, I wanted to see where the story was going and I was certainly entertained.

"There are no good guys in this story. Just men driven by their own selfish reasons. Me included."

This quote summarizes the topic of this unbelievable emotional and gripping story.
This is the second book in a duet and it's a mind-blowing and gripping dark romance.
In the first book "Bullseye" Bull had to end all contacts with Tiger. It was either that or risking her and her child's life.
He dedicated his life to revenge on the men who destroyed his life. In this book
Bull is playing extremely dangerous game with two drag lords. He want his revenge and he does whatever it takes to get it.
But if you play with dangerous people, you have to become dangerous, with Bull has no problem with. His demons like to play in the dark and in the shadows 😈
In the brutal and ruthless world of criminals and killers, a love story or happy ending has no place. With this in mind, Bull tries to let her go. Trying doesn't mean being able to 🤭
This story is action packed, exciting and so full of dramatic events, that makes you constantly wonder what the hell happens next.
It's a never-ending emotional rollercoaster of emotions and constant fight for survival.
Ok, ok...that's enough of the spoilers. When you like dark, dangerous and yup 🔥 steamy, this is your book.
I loved every second of this duet and recommend it to all dark romance lovers 🖤🖤🖤
The first book is currently on sale till May 7th.

I’m not very eloquent with words so bear with me, it always blows my mind when I find an author that can create such an intense world and characters that can pull a reader in and make them feel as if they are a part of the world or understand each and every character on a personal level. This author has become one of my favorites that do exactly this to me every time I read her words. Bull is what we would call an anti-hero, he can be cruel, he can be mean, he can throw what little moral compass he has to the wind and do things I couldn’t imagine, but at the same time he can be sweet, fierce, and protective of his loved ones. He is a hero in his own way, what I call a Hero with flaws.
In book one we see what hand Bull was dealt to make him this closed off, unemotional person, but slowly throughout and in this book we see tiny tears in his walls being brought down as he starts to realize he doesn’t have to go through all this alone. Bull is strong, but since the day his “Tiger” aka Lilly came into his life things have slowly changed for him, so he starts to come around to thinking and realizing that maybe there could be more to his life than revenge. “I look into her beautiful green eyes, all I see is love; love for the man she loves and the monster she fears.” The thing with Bull is if his loved ones are threatened, he will do anything and everything to protect them, even if it means pushing them away. He tries and tries to do this with Lily, but she is just as smart and protective as he is. These two are far from perfect, but perfection is overrated yet together they find their own type of perfection in each other. “I can barely breathe when I’m with her. And when we’re apart…I would give anything to be close to her.”
This book is beyond amazing with so many twists and turns that at times I felt as if I was watching an action movie in my mind. This world is one full of chaos, deceit, revenge, yet there is always a glimmer of hope and love thrown in and it has us readers wondering if things will work out for the best or hoping that Bull can dig deep find himself the way his brother saw him, as a great guy so that maybe he can find his happy. Bull and Tiger are truly meant to be and in this twisted story of revenge they find each other but can they survive it together? “two lost souls who found something beautiful in utter destruction.”
Sidenote: Not to take away from Bull’s story but wouldn’t it be amazing to see Saint and Bull work together in a book 😊 #teamherowithflaws

I don't know how she does it, but Monica James brought me to my damn knees once again.
Left me breathless and bound until the end, and what an end it was.
This book sets the bar so high, your emotions will go out of control and you WILL fall in love with these characters once again.
Never in my life have I highlighted as many lines as I did with ‘Blowback’.
The chemistry between them is intense, hot and off the charts.
Tension, revenge, redemption, fear, betrayal, bravery along with selflessness and love are what form the base for Bull and Lily's story.
Their story is a dark one that will take grasp of every emotion in your soul and throw it for a toss.
Bull is intense and so darn passionate.
Lily is caring and selfless.
Both of them broken, only to be healed by destiny.
You can't help but fall in love with them while taking this wild ride that leaves you drunk on emotions.
Monica, as always, has written a duet like no other. She digs deep into your soul with her words and makes sure they cling on tight.
She left me wanting more.
An outstanding end to a story like no other.

OMG! Blowback was the perfect conclusion to Bull and Tiger's story! This book stole my breath by its violence, but also by the level of feels it delivers! I'm still reeling from this crazy journey days after my read of this novel. I really needed those few days to get my thoughts together coherently before writing my final review! Monica James isn’t one of my favorite authors without a reason and she proved it once again with Blowback.

This story had me biting my nails from the thrilling suspense, crying my eyes out from the inflow of feels, jumping from my seat by the vicious action, fanning myself from the filthy encounters between Tiger and Bull. In short, I went by a vast spectrum of emotions with this book!

Bullseye ended on such a cliffhanger that I couldn’t wait to dive back into this universe. The evolution of its characters since the first book is mind-blowing. At the start of this duet, Bull looked like a hard and unfeeling man only set on his cruel revenge. Meeting Lily certainly changed the course of his life and with Blowback, I realized that not only he has feelings, but maybe he feels too much. The desire to avenge his brother only proves that, but also his dedication to protect his woman at the cost of his own happiness is another example. Bull is truly a complex hero with a dark aura, but there’s also so much kindness about him. I couldn’t help but love how much he cares and goes to great lengths to help his people even if he doesn’t realize his own worth.

As for Lily, I once again was really impressed by this woman and her resilience. After the truth was unveiled at the end of Bullseye, she’s conflicted by her feelings for Bull and all the surrounding chaos it brought into her life. I appreciated the fact that she doesn’t let other people dictate her life and makes her decisions based on what she truly feels in spite of the rightness of wrongness of them! She’s her own person and shows it!

This couple lets their attraction explode in some scorching hot moments. They’re more than ever in tune not only physically but also emotionally making these scenes consuming and poignant. Together, they are just breathtaking!

I won’t give you more than that, because I don’t want to spoil your read! Just know that Bull’s quest for vengeance is still in effect and grows more intense throughout the book. His path for retribution is dark and brutal, but also brings a level of feels so powerful! Blowback is an epic story that won’t let you unfeeling! Monica James signed here a story paved with ups and downs that will have you hooked from start to finish! Trust me, you need The Monsters Within Duet in your life!

An epic, twisted, emotional, dark and sexy conclusion to Bull's story! Wow what a ride. Lily surprised me a lot in this book... how soon she realised her brother's true colors and how that made her change her whole viewpoint on everything going on, what she was willing to sacrifice for the ones she loved ooh. I really loved how strong, fierce and bada** she was.

Bull once again showed how much of a master mind he was, even though things didn't go exactly according to plan... since there were additions to his life he hadn't foreseen. He still managed to fool everyone and work all sides and in the end get help from someone unexpected and be able to enact his revenge, like he and Damien deserved. I'm so glad he got that. At one point I thought it would all have been for nothing and he wouldn't be able to move on from that tragic event. Getting to relive that night again with him hit me right in the feels.

Blowback was an experience. There were a lot of scenes that had me emotional, saying goodbye to people who used to be your world, achieving the thing you've been dreaming for for years, finding someone who completely changed your view on love and life. These two gave me all the feels in this book and how it ended could not have been more perfect for them.

It’s taken me days to find the right words to explain how I feel about Bull & Tiger’s conclusion. This book is phenomenal and has surpassed any expectations I had. Monica James has taken a vengeful, broken shell of a man and made his heart beat for the feisty woman who caught more than his attention. His willingness to let go of his vengeance all for the name of love made my heart melt. The suspense, action and heat this book delivers had me in an all-consuming trance. I could not put the book down until I was finished. I was so captivated that I couldn’t read fast enough but when the book was coming to an end I was so sad that I didn’t read slower. This is a duet that you do not wanna miss. Each book the talented Ms. James releases gets better and better and will have you so invested that you need to do re-reads to keep them with you. It’s game over for you as you fall in love with the characters and their journey! This all-consuming Duet is beyond epic and beyond a 5 star Read!

Blowback is book 2 in the Monsters within duet and Monica James didn’t pull any punches. She gave us an explosive ending to Bull and Tiger’s love story.

After a slow start after that epic ending of book 1, book 2 got down the the nitty gritty, with Monica James showcasing that dark romance is definitely what she excels at writing. Bull and Tiger’s story was raw, dark and sometimes downright painful and i was here for it.

The mystery and suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat, trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together, the chemistry sizzled throughout the book between Tiger and Bull and I didn’t know whether I was coming or going from one chapter to the next.

If dark romances are your jam then pick up this duet today!!

I’m loving the final book to The Monsters Within duet! It was EVERYTHING l anticipated and more! I couldn’t get enough of Bull and Tiger, and the gamut of emotions I had throughout the unraveling of each key player’s motivations and how it’s all connected. At the end of their journey, I can easily say that I’m so happy for Cody and Lily. One of my favourite quotes, which is spot on accurate...LOVE IT!!!

“Every story has a hero. And it has a villain. But I guess in this story—you got both, wrapped in one.”

Blowback by Monica James is an EPIC read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

Blowback is the anticipated conclusion to Bull and Tiger's story, and after the ending of book 1 -Bullseye, I couldn't wait to see how their story was going to play out. The novel continues on from where we left our characters last, the chasm between Hero and heroine only growing further apart. Bull has his mind set on sticking to his vengeance while trying to keep Tiger safe doing her brother's bidding. Ever the calculated risk taker Bull has a few ace's up his sleeves along the way.

Blowback was one hell of a ride once it started, for me the book began a little slow of pace; but once the chemistry between Bull and Tiger was still clearly in play things started to pick up in the story too. Monica produced a well written story of loyalty, love and vengeance and redemption. It's dark, gritty and violent but it's full of so many twists and turns that totally blindsided me! How so many things came into play as the story developed, certain characters going in a totally different direction than what I expected and an ending that I did not anticipate. Blowback was another fantastic book from Monica.

God damn it... I swear Monica James is out to kill me...
HOLY. HELL!!

Blowback is book two in The Monsters Within duet and after book one, Bullseye had me in freaking pieces at the end, I went into Blowback scared to see what was next and still pretty shattered and once again, the author didn't go easy on her readers. Oh.. HELL NO, she went anything but easy. This book and the story between Bull and Tiger is not only a dark one, but it's emotional and gut-wrenching. There were moments throughout the book I had put it down, take a breather, and come back to it. It was SO INTENSE! I felt every damn emotion possible when it came to these two. It had me bent out of shape and what I would normally be able to devour in one sitting, took me two because I had to keep taking those little breathers... My mind or heart couldn't take it!

Bull still had his ONE goal and that was revenge and seeking it and going after the people that were responsible for a past tragedy and making them pay. He was ruthless. His overwhelming feelings for this one girl, Lily aka Tiger were only getting even more overwhelming and becoming a problem... for both of them.

Lily grows so much in this book, I saw so much strength in her developed as the book progressed. She started off a little naive in book one, but in book two, her transformation into this story, the fierce heroine had my heart swelling. The love for child was something that drove that and made her grow stronger, and of course, the love she had for Cody aka Bull, that she tries so hard to fight. The development within this character throughout this duet was mindblowing and laid out perfectly.

These two together were intense, it was messy, it was tragic, it was beautiful, it was hot and reading the growth between these two, broken my heart only to be pieced back together piece by piece... It was tragically beautiful.

This story is full of lies, deceit, betrayal, revenge, with twists and turns that I did not see coming. I laughed, I cried, I shook in rage and in horror... and I loved every freaking minute of it!

This would have to be Monica's best work to date in my opinion, and with each book she writes, she captures the hearts of her readers, mine included and she has me wanting more... Needing more. I can't wait to see what this author brings out next! She's one of my all-time favorites and this book is a prime example of why!

Amazing! But I expected nothing less!

6 STARS!

4.5 stars!

Ever since I finished Bullseye, I have been highly anticipating the conclusion Blowback to get the answers to all my questions after the ending of Bullseye. Thankfully Blowback picks up right where Bullseye leaves off. This book is incredibly hard to review in the way I normally do, but I will try my best, I just don’t want to give any spoilers away.

Bull has just been hit with some hard facts and information which has once again changed life as he knows it. His whole game plan to avenge his brother’s murder has to be changed to accommodate the new terms and he is thrown for a loop for the first time in the duet. Tiger is also left with answers she didn’t want and realises how differently her life could’ve been. But after time she begins to question the real motive of the person who has reappeared in her life so unexpectedly, and doubts if their side of the story is as true as they claim.

Tiger and Bull realise that they are stronger working together to bring down their common enemy, so join forces, whilst also giving into their insane chemistry. But neither of them could be prepared for all of the obstacles, twists, turns and secrets which are revealed along the way. Can the avoid the blowback of their plan and come out the other side the victors?

This book had me all over the place. It was so hard to put down and I was desperate to know what happened next. I am not usually someone who likes watching or reading violent scenes, but Monica’s writing had me hooked and so invested in Bull getting his revenge, I didn’t care about the graphic detail in which they were described. Monica still has that incredible way of dragging you into the story and feel empathy for the characters, as cruel as they can be. At times, I was blindsided with the twists and some characters went in completely different directions than I could have ever imagined, but I loved every page!

Bull himself changes so much throughout this duet, but predominantly in Blowback. He realises that he doesn’t have to be a lone wolf, he can rely on others and he can have feelings and grow attached to other people, it doesn’t make him weaker, but n fact stronger. He displayed holes in his armour which made him more human and less of the machine he liked to think he was. Tiger was so strong and stood by her gut and beliefs throughout. She always did what she thought was right, even if that meant putting herself in danger to save the ones she loves. She was desperate to provide for her family and not be stuck stripping, she had dreams and I was so invested in watching her achieve them. Both of these characters dealt with so many hardships, but they leant on each other and helped the other come through them, they complemented each other so well as a couple. They both have flaws, but they are imperfectly perfect for each other.

So much goes on in this book, the web of the story is so much more intricate than I could’ve ever have predicted, but that’s what makes it so brilliant. Blowback has everything a dark suspense romance needs, drama, secrets, steam and a whole lot of strength from both the hero and the heroine. At times it feels like such chaos, but throughout there is loyalty, love and hope which makes it all worth it. Blowback is the epic conclusion to this duet and I highly recommend it, a must read!

Hello, Monica James? Hi, it’s me again. Uh, sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to let you know… I might need another Bull book, like ASAP. What about turning this duet into a trilogy, hum? *wink*wink* Okay, maybe not that; I’m here talking like I understand anything about writing and story/series structure and stuff… Just please consider bringing him back at some point. Please. Thank you.

Look, don’t get me wrong: this book – scratch that – this duet had EVERYTHING and then some. I absolutety loved every second of it, including and especially the resolution - that last chapter, oh my God - but you know me: I just don't think I can say goodbye quite yet.

Both Bull and Lily went through so much; I just wanted to sneak a peek at their new found life and happy ever after.

Also – and I think it goes without saying – this obviously applies to every single character from every single Monica James’ book I've ever read: bring back anyone and everyone; I miss them all.

“Cough” Saint… Sorry, not sorry. ;D

Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent.

So, I cried my eyes out for roughly 4 hours, what else is new?

You might be thinking “that's al lot of time to be crying” and/or “it took you that long to read this book?” and the answer is “yes” for both of those questions.

Yes, it’s a lot of time to be bawling and sobbing but hey, that's Monica James for you all in a nutshell. And yes, it took me that long to read it. Also, those 4 hours are just a close estimate and only of the time I was truly devastated; I didn't factor in the times I was nervously bitting my nails, or grinning like a maniac, or sweating and fanning myself like a whore in church… you get the idea.

If you’re interested at all, here’s a tidbit of info about me: I find that it usualy takes me more time to read a book that it was actually supposed to, considering the “about this book” section on Kindle. Mind you, this affects me none, but I’ve go it down to a few reasons: firstly, I'm portuguese, so english is not my first language and even though I've been reading mainly english written books for the past 6-8 years, sometimes I still come across a word I don't know the meaning or right pronunciation of. That itself will lead me to pause the reading and go right to the dictionary or some helpful 5 second Youtube video. Also, the pacing of my reading itself still feels a little slower that if I was reading in portuguese and I guess it makes sense.

Now – and this is the real reason I wanted to tell about my reading process – when it comes to Monica James or any of my favorite authors’ books, I defintely read them slower. I think it’s half intentional and half unintentional but always for the same reason: I dont want them to end.

You can also blame some of that extra reading time on the extremely current event of blurry vision, you know... from crying hours on end. Yeah, that’ll do that to you.

So here we are and the bottom line seems to be “Monica James’ books will hurt you but you’ll enjoy the pain so much that you’ll drag it out, not wanting it to end and you’ll go running like a crazy person when she releases another one because you just can't get enough”. Seems legit.

“Blowback” is a crazy ride; there is absolutely no time in each you’re not on the edge of your seat - you never know what to expect next. Monica James is a mastermind and this book proves it: all the connections betwween these characters, the web of lies, deceits, friendships and enmities, revenge, deaths and bloodshed; all of it was so masterfully created that after every scene, every new development, you’re left with this claustrophobic feeling and you want to either run fast and far away in hopes everyone will just forget that you ever existed, or curl into a ball in a dark corner and beg for the nightmare to end and for you to finally wake up.

I don’t think it really classifies as a spoiler if I say that all’s well that ends well.

That’s problaly the most non-specific way to put it because, a) duh, no spoilers and b) it’s not like you can really say “evil lost, good won”, not really. This is a Monica James’ book after all and in her worlds there no such thing as labels, linear uncrossable lines or black and white anything. And oh how we all have so much effing fun playing in these grey areas.

Bull was not and will never be just that one good boy turned hurt, angry man looking to avenge his brother’s death – it’s not that straightforward. Maybe we do all have both the light and the darkness inside of us. Maybe that “little angel and little devil on your shoulder” metaphor holds a little bit more thruth in it. Maybe it really does depend on what side of it or which one of them you feed. And that’s fine.

But what if being bad is not that… bad? What if some of us really do have a few demons and we’re supposed to learn to live with them instead of exorcising them and ridding ourselves of them? What if you’re stronger and happier and your true self with them inside of you? What if the world is really not supposed to be black and white and we’ve been mistaken all this time? What if the grey area is the right place to live in?

It’s all about morality after all, so I guess you choose what works for you. But don't be fooled: darkness surronds us all. Some of us fear it and hide from it, some of us are curious about it and intrigued by it, some of us indulge in it from time to time and some of us live in it and for it. No matter which group you’re part of, at least acknowledge it you must. It demands so. She’s that powerful.

So don’t blame me for thriving on it or wanting it to last a little bit longer.

I know I said this before but Monica James was the first author I read dark romance from, and if the genre on its own is enthralling, engaging and long-lasting, Monica James’ brand is positively, 1000% addicting, “unputdownable” and unforgettable.

I truly don’t know what else to say at this point so I think I’ll just leave it here while repeating myself with something I probably say in every review: you freaking rock.

I'll be here, obviously not so patiently waiting for more, like always.

Ooh by the way, can we have a Franca Brown book? That lady is such a badass.

Ok, I'm going now. Byeee.

After finishing Bullseye I have been waiting for this one. I couldn’t wait to dive in and see how Bull and Tiger’s story would play out and boy, it was nothing like I was expecting in my mind.

Bull and Lilly’s relationship is not an easy one. It is full of ups and down, twists and turns and will probably give you whiplash, but it is worth EVERY SINGLE MOMENT! These two have some ridiculously hot chemistry and I love them together, but I also love them as individual characters.

Lilly is strong, she isn’t some weak heroine. I love that she doesn’t back down easily, she is willing to fight for what she wants and who she loves. Despite the pain and suffering she used that has motivation. Bull is such a damaged hero, however, you can’t help but love him. To root for him.
This book and this duet are dark, twisted, addicting, hot, suspenseful, action packed, emotional, beautiful and everything you could want in a twisted dark romance. The quest for revenge brought these two individuals together, but that same quest can also tear them apart.

Blowback and Bullseye are MUST READS and this duet is one of my TOP READS of 2020. Prepare yourself for a dark, twisted world that will consume every single inch of your soul from the very first page.

Honestly I'm not literate enough to put into words just how phenomenal this book is and give it the review it deserves. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to chew your ear off with my crazy babbling thoughts. If it makes no sense.. my excuse is I'm sleep deprived with a crazy brain.

Blowback books 2 and the conclusion to the Monsters Within Duet is here. You're not ready for it.

After the jawdropping mother effing cliffy Monica left us at in book one I think it's safe to say we have all cooked up some pretty crazy expectations. We've all got preconceived ideas of how their story is going to go and what's going to unravel. You're wrong. Trust me on that. You don't have a fucking clue what's in store for you.

Bull is a man with a plan. He's aware his life has a shelf date. He understood the path he took wasn't going to end well but it was a means to an end and peace for his brother. He didn't see her coming. He wasn't prepared to feel like fighting to live until she turned everything upside down. It didn't matter what he did she kept coming back. Could she not see he was a monster? Broken.. it didn't matter. Even when she didn't want to want him Tiger couldn't stay away. Like magnets drawn to eachother they couldn't leave.

Obviously we have questions, a lot of them after the first book. Monica splayed out every single thing on the table leavzing no stone unturned. We got EVERY raw brutal heart wrenchingly painful and anger fuelled detail.

Tiger's need to fix her broken family absolutely clouded her judgment when it came to Jaws. Not only did he play her, he used her son as a pawn in his sick and twisted games to gain affection from her and Jordy. She wasn't a fool though and as much as her desire for a family was strong, her survival instincts were a hell of a lot louder. She caught on real fucking quick.

Bull and Tiger are two broken people who have this magnetic force driving them together even when they're trying to stay apart. It's like the world knows only they can heal eachother because despite the circumstances they always end up crashing into one another. The chemistry is fucking electrifying. It's not the pretty sweet kind, it's the raw animalistic brutal kind. She's a unwelcome distraction and he wears danger and destruction like a skin. Opposite in every way and yet completely imperfectly perfect together. Their story is all consuming passionate and hatefilled. Bull is an anti-hero if ever there was one. He's crude, harsh and at times cutthroat. But we're teased with tiny glimmers of hope with his small gentle actions and softness when it comes to Tiger. Tiger at times can be frustrating, she isn't perfect but who is?. Her strength is something special in this book for sure. She may be soft but do not underestimate her because she'll prove you wrong every damn time.

Deep in the underbelly of Detroit, Monica drags us down under with some of the most ruthless, cunning and quite frankly creepy mother fuckers there is. Turf wars, betrayals, secrets and lies. Loyaltys are tested and rats are flushed out the gutters to be gutted. Lovers tried and tested a million times over, it's safe to say Monica took us through the ringer here. Bull and Tigers story will take everything out of you emotionally. It's raw brutal and heartbreaking. This is not a pretty romance.
They are clawing at life fighting for serenity amongst the destruction and it gets real fucking ugly before it gets beautiful. But it's a masterpiece. A beautiful disaster.

There is so much I could say but I fear giving to much away so I'll bring it to an end here with this...

Monica's story telling abilities are second to none. She is a master at her craft and us readers are the puppets. From page one I was so fucking invested in this story, in their journey I honestly didn't come up for air. The characters are completely stripped bare, nothing is hidden. Every raw emotion is palpable and every event impactful. The story is seamlessly in it's delivery and packs a fucking punch. Everything means something here!. There's no pointless fillers or unnecessary drama because everything that happens makes sense for some reason or other. The characters have depth and substance, something that makes them unforgettable. Even when they aren't likeable they are still memorable because Monica made it that way. Made it so that this story will stick with you.

That ending just hit my soul. This story is a beautiful disaster. A flower amongst the weeds. A labour of love and tragedy. It's not an easy journey but I suppose nothing ever worth having is. I'm forever a fan.

Blowback is pretty damn intense. It's the conclusion of bull and tiger's story. It magically plays danger, challenge, violence and passion. Cuts deep. It's unpredictabie. But is quite amazing. Amazing because of the highest level of loyalty, amazing because is majestically mix all the sides of love. Where love feeds blood, and blood means love. If you love dark stories, this one will end running through your viens. Revenge, there is the main goal, it's what he is looking forward. No matter the consequences. There's a promise to keep. A promise that will make him "breath" again. Mix that with a weakness or addiction? Because fate bring them together to hate or to love? You'll see the power of love against the need of vengeance.
Without spoiling the dynamic of the story I can tell you, that you are going to see a different Tiger in this second book. Fierce, determined, stronger. Ready to cross that line. The line that will change her life. No hesitation. No doubts, no if of but. Yes, she will have to make some choices, and fight for love. Fight for him and with Bull. Because the main batle will be to defend some demons who still keeping his heart locked.
But she will prove that she earn that nickname for a reason. She's a real tiger.
Bull? You'll see him all in. Involved and certain of what he's doing. He's the hero. A hero who doesn't want the light, a hero who's looking for blood. But you'll also see him, on your knees, because his enemies won't hesitate to play their cards to broke him forever.
The ending. That's why I didn't rate this book 5 ⭐ not because it doesn't have a happy ending. Quite the opposite. But there were some aspects of that end. Some choices...but the main missing piece is the connection between Bull and another secondary character really important for Tiger.

"With my heart in my throat, I get lost in those mismatched eyes, wanting to remain lost forever."

The explosive conclusion to Bullseye was a road full of twisty turning, unexpected jaw-dropping action, suspense, and steamy happenings!! I ate it up with a spoon as I saw the events unfold and had absolutely no clue how it would end up. My little dark heart sang when these two went up against the world!! With my hands white-knuckling my Kindle, and my heart firmly stuck in my throat, I read it in one sitting to see what would come of Bull, Lily, and the decades long mission of revenge, and as the pages turned, I experienced every emotion, felt every pain, and was deeply intertwined in this couple's story. SO MUCH WENT DOWN in this part that it will absolutely leave you reeling, but ending with a grin....I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

"We're just Lily and Cody-two lost souls who found something beautiful in utter destruction."

BLOWBACK

I was waiting for the „Blowback” after ended „Bullseye” because Monica James done a good job with the first book of „The Monsters Within Duet”. I was curious how will be Bull's next step with all this situation.

When I started this book I was IN the plot after 40% of the book. The first chapters don't charmed me. But after this 40% I was really grateful to reading this book. We are invited to te dirty world of stripclubs and the revenge of course.

Tiger grew up in this book. We can see her change in „Blowback”. She is a really strong woman with ambitions. Bullseye with her is like pure power. Chemistry between them is so big! They need only little spark to have a big fire. But in all of this story I have the impression that Bullseye from the first book and Bullseye from the second book is a different man. Dunno why. I miss something in him, but I really don't know what.

„Blowback” is a nice ending for Bullseye and Tiger story. And this cover is so hot, right?
I am happy that I could read this book before relese and I am thinking about reread both of these books Maybe when I will finished „Bullseye” and take „Blowback” my emotions and impressions will be different.

~ I received an ARC for a honest review. ⁣

Deserves more than 5 stars. OMG!!! PERFECT CONCLUSION to the Monsters Within Duet. I was at the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I was so scared/nervous that my legs were legit shaking. Lol words can't express how much my heart hurts for both Bull and Tiger. I definitely shed some tears. Those twists and turns caught me off guard. Didn't see it coming. Totally intense, ansty, bloody, dirty, sexy, full of action.⁣

Blowback picked right after where Bullseye end. Left me mad at Tiger. She still irritates me at the beginning, but my heart softens. I tried not to be so harsh on her. 😅 But man, she is one freaking strong, feisty heroine. Ugh love her. The things she would do to an extent for Bull and vice versa makes my heart melt. Bull OWNS me!!! He deserves the best in the world. Just writing this already got me teary eyes again. Lol His pain and his love is so fierce. I just want to hug Bull so much and not let anything happen to him. Their chemistry is off the chart. Highly, highly recommended! Just pick it up. Start reading Bullseyes because by the time you know, Blowback is out! ⁣

Monica's writing is always top notch. I'm legit sucked into the world, and don't want to climb back out. Can't wait for what she next in-store for us!⁣

Most books have one hero, one villain and one heroine in the story but this story is full of Villians and let me tell you this book is dark, filthy, full of revenge which will leave your heart bleed. If you're looking for something easy, then this book is not for you.

This is the second book and continuation of the Bulleye by the author Monica James. You can't read this book stand alone.

This book continues its story from the fight which occurs between the Bull and Lily or 'Tiger" where he makes sure he stays away from Lily as he already made a deal with jaws. But he was in favor of this thing as he doesn't want to that hatred in her for him because he killed the love her life, Hero, who was going to propose her for marriage. Bull was doing a great job to make Steive trust himself but soon the things started to get Fucked up.

The game of power has started and Unfortunately, Lily and her son became the part of it all but she won't let anyone hurt her son and Bull won't let hurt anyone hurt them both. It is quite difficult to stand this game but Bull with the help of Jose, almost reached his goal but then again it's not that easy. Everybody is playing their own game and it's difficult to guess who will be the Winner.

As I said earlier, This book is dark, Filthy and full of revenge. This game of power is getting excited as the chapter passes and you won't be able to guess what will happen next. This book is SOO NOT PREDICTABLE. I just love the plot, absolutely unique. The characters are soo amazing I loved and hated them at the same time. The epitome of chemistry between Bull and Lily is the next level actually, I should say their love story is the next level.

I have never read anything like this. In this book soo much is going on at the same time that you won't be able to guess who is with whom side. It's like Game of Chess but with four players. Great work is done by amazing Monica James.

If you think you can read dark romance then don't think just go for this.
