Keep my Nephilim alive. Earn back my light. Finally go home.

As a Watcher, nothing else should matter. Nothing else has mattered. Until her.

She dug her way in without any invitation. Now, she haunts my dreams and makes me lose focus. The one mortal off-limits, and regardless of how hard I try, I can’t stay away. And the more untouchable she becomes, the more I want her.

At first, she’s a distraction that could cost me the eternity I’ve worked so hard to protect. But then she becomes a danger beyond anything I’ve ever imagined. When it comes to her, it’s not only my immortality hanging in the balance. This woman threatens my soul’s very existence

Our story was always meant to be messy—because, at the end, one of us has to die.

*This is Chaz's story!*

I knew I was going to enjoy this book based on my previous experience with this author but I ended up absolutely LOVING it. The chemistry between Chaz and Nyx was everything. More than that though, we got an awesomely layered story to really bring the series connection together. The world building was executed well. The development was paced appropriately and strong writing supported the novel throughout.

Once I started I couldn’t put it down and when I finished I was ready to re-read! Definitely not one to be missed.

Darkened Soul was so much more than I could have hoped for. Chazaquiel and Nyx’s story was nothing I could have predicted, and way more than I was expecting. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: CG Blaine can write one hell (lol) of a story. How she continually crafts plots that are so fresh and unique, I don’t know. But I am here for all of it. Darkened Soul gets 4.5 stars from me!

So first, I gotta say that even if you’re not normally a fan of paranormal romance, I still think you should give this series a try. CG Blaine builds this paranormal world so flawlessly that it’s not overwhelming or confusing. I was able to fall into step with every scene seamlessly because she writes in a way that is both engaging and understandable. You won’t need a PNR encyclopedia to get through this series. I promise. When Watchers Fall is a series that both PNR and Contemporary fans will enjoy.

Nyx is such a beautiful and complex character. I don’t want to give too much away, but her struggle and backstory both really resonated with me. Her loyalty and her determination— ugh. I was heartbroken over the decisions she has to face. There was one scene in particular that had me sobbing, unable to catch my breath, because it was painful and heart-wrenching, but also extremely beautiful and real. I love Nyx, and I’m going to be looking forward to getting more glimpses of her in book three.

The chemistry between Chaz and Nyx was HOT. The way they were drawn to one another despite the bad omens encapsulating their relationship was something that I both loved and loathed. Loathed because I could feel their turmoil— I was sharing their pain because I could not, for the life of me, figure out which direction their love story was going to head. But I also loved it because I shared in their bliss. When Chaz and Nyx are together, it is perfection. Their affection and attraction jump from the page, and I could feel it. Together, they are so good, and I loved those moments.

This plot was unpredictable, but not in a “off the rails” kind of way. It is actually my favorite kind of plot— one that is fresh, new, and keeps me on my toes. I felt like I was following a single thread through a giant snarled knot- I knew there was an end, and I knew that when I reached that end all would make sense, but I couldn’t predict the next curve or turn until it was already happening. It was the best kind of ride, because CG Blaine kept me engaged and guessing without ever making me confused or frustrated.

Now, you can read this as a stand-alone, but some of my ultimate favorite things in Darkened Soul were the subtle nods to Cassannah from Fallen Rebel, book one. I LIVED for those glimpses of Kasdaye and Hannah Kelley. The Easter eggs were sooooo good.
Do you have to read Fallen Rebel before you read Darkened Soul? No.
Do I think you should anyway? Yes. Because Cass and Hannah’s story should not be missed.

The only reason I couldn’t give this a full 5 stars is because of something unique to me. I really liked Chaz— he was a great characters— but I had difficulty at times distinguishing him from Cass, the hero in book one. There were times when his voice and actions seemed so similar, I felt like I was reading book one’s hero with a different heroine. He didn't feel as unique, so I had a hard time connecting with him. There were also a few parts that felt a bit like unnecessary filler. However, those parts were few and didn't take away from my love of the story.

So, other than that minor personal complaint, this was WONDERFUL. CG Blaine’s writing is gorgeous, her story is creative, and it’s a testament to why she has become one of my one-click authors.

Darkened Soul gets 4.5 stars from me, and I will be waiting impatiently for the next installment of the When Watchers Fall series because I HAVE NO CHILL when it comes to these broody, sexy af angels. Read it.

I’m in love. It’s official. I mean, Cassannah was fantastic, don’t get me wrong. But Chaz? Ugh. I loved him in FR, and he just made it even more so with this one.
The guy who keeps his charge close, chasing adrenaline highs has a soft side, one that we didn’t really see before. But it turns out, we just needed the right woman to drag it out of him.
And Nyx. Out here trying to save her world, by all the means possible. I adored the twist she gave the story, giving us a whole new aspect to look out for.
I loved this. I cannot wait for Rosdan. It’s gonna be so good.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!!!!

I thought nothing could top FR, but I was wrong, Chaz & Nyx are just as amazing! It had betrayal, self sacrifice, love, humour.

Cass & Hannah were just as epic as sub characters.

We were kinda left on a teenie tiny cliff that’s going to lead to Ros’ story which I’m pretty excited about.

It’s hard to write a review for a book that’s so… radically different from my recently previous reads that I had to delay posting it, just so I can gather my thoughts better. So, here I go.

C.G. Blaine’s dark angel series is a fantasy romance novel. I’ve read plenty of romances featuring guardian angels, fallen angels, hot angels… I’m also a wee bit obsessed with Lucifer on Netflix. But Blaine’s angel love stories, so far, are unique, highly appealing, and, frankly, frustrating, because I couldn’t read them all at once. Cass and Hannah’s story was unexpectedly perfect. Chaz and Nyx’s story was even better – I don’t know how perfect could be topped, but there you go. I really, REALLY, REALLY loved Darkened Soul. I won’t give you the blurb here in the review part of this post, so I’ll just tell you what I liked, instead.

Everything. I liked everything.

Blaine’s imperfectly perfect characters who had difficult decisions to make. Her writing style that made “Darkened Soul” a complete pleasure to devour. I, literally, had to stop myself from reading, because quarantine and extreme obsession with Nyx and Chaz’s story are making my eyes blurry (I might need to see an ophthalmologist after the lockdown is lifted in my neck of the woods). The story itself. *Sigh*

Am I going to have to go back to reading the same old-same old again? Perhaps. Plots such as this probably rolls around once a year only. Thank goodness, or else, I’d be bankrupt.

P.S. No one should read this without reading the Fallen Rebel first. It’s an absolute must.

When I read the first book in this series, I flipped because I was blow away by it! I love angels and demons stories, but there are only a handful that actually hold my attention and keep me wanting more. When I saw that the 2nd book was coming out, but with Chaz's story, boy was I wanting to learn more about that!!

CG Blaine does a great job of drawing you into the story and keeping your attention throughout it. I was NOT expecting to like Chaz, but to be far, the guy had been put through a lot and it was mostly because of our leading lady. These two definitely had reasons to hate each other, but that is what keeps it interesting!

All in all, I totally enjoyed reading this if you like paranormal romances, honestly even if you don't! I liked the story, the characters, and the chemistry between the two- 4.5 outta 5 stars from me!

PS: Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions and CG Blaine for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

I liked Chaz a lot in Cass & Hannah’s book. That didn’t change throughout this book. In fact the further along in this book the more I fell in love with him. He almost edged his way past badass Cass in my books.

Nyx well I can’t say I like her... I definitely get how they fit together but she rubbed me the wrong way right from the beginning. Yes she had her reasons but still Chaz deserved better. Sorry!

To me this book was about sacrifice & the things your willing to do for the ones you love. This book encompasses that completely for me. I was surprised by the added twist of Nyx’s lineage & I’m looking forward to learning more about this supernatural world in the next book.

I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

Darkened Soul is the second book in the When Watchers Fall serie by C.G. Blaine. This book is about watcher Chaz, who we met in the first book, and Nix.  I loved their story and the writing so much! This book has it all, action, romance, heat and love. You don't have to read the first book before this one but I highly recommend that you do because they are both so good.
Can't wait voor the next book!

I love paranormal romance so this series is perfect for me. I do recommend reading book one though to get the full effect. Chaz and Nyxs story was a good one full of turmoil and barriers and even though at times I couldn’t figure why they were doing things they were the end result was perfect.

I’m so conflicted with this book. I liked the overall story, it was unique from book one, fast paced, full of action and a quick read. We get to see Cass and Hannah again aka Cassannah, as well as Rosdan. I liked that the book didn’t introduce too many new characters and continued on pretty seamlessly from book one, Fallen Rebel. There is also a playlist of songs listed at the end of the book, which is always a favorite of mine.

I’m only giving it 3 stars because I did not like Nyx and Chaz together, I didn’t think the romance between her and Chaz was believable, at all. She betrays him in the biggest way possible, they embark on this weird prisoner style/Stockholm syndrome relationship, fall in love and go from there. I really wanted to love Nyx too. She started out as an interesting character in the book for me. In the end I felt like she didn’t deserve Chaz and I struggled to understand why they fell in love and why he forgave her.

The epilogue gave us a glimpse into book 3, which will center on Rosdan. As the quietest Watcher in the bunch I’m excited to see where his story takes us.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ 4/5 hearts!

Fallen Angel left us a bit on a cliff hanger, and I've been waiting for this book ever since. I honestly didn't think this story could hold up to Cass and Hannah's story. Boy was I wrong. I enjoyed this one so much more. It has the perfect mix of action, mystery, and sweet tender moments.

I wasn't expecting to like Chaz as much as I did. He may have been jerk, but almost all his actions were understandable. He was betrayed, died, and came back to life as a mortal all because of Nyx. Having animosity toward her was no surprise. Chaz already had a hard time hating her, but the longer he was stuck with her the more he learned who she truly was. In the end he was absolutely swoon worthy. I was quite jealous of Nyx.

Nyx was definitely a character that kept surprising me at every turn. I wasn't expecting her to be so strong, loyal, and having such a kind heart. Nyx was trying to protect her family and world in her own way. Her story and history is fascinating, and adds on a whole new layer to the story.

Chaz and Nyx had such a great balance as a couple. She had a fire in her that kept Chaz in line, and he protected her since her knowledge of angel, demons, and nephilim was limited. The series plot line is only getting more intense. I have so many questions that I can't wait to be answered. I can only guess the 3rd book with Rosdan's story will be just as fantastic as the past two.

I received an ARC for a honest review.

This is the ultimate damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't, tale! Up until the very VERY end I couldn't figure out how the heck The Angels were going to solve this one, which I love! It's filled with mystical and emotional catch-22s that had me turning pages, fast. ::standing ovation::

Can someone please give Ms. Blaine a medal for writing snarky dialogue? Her characters are so funny and full of heart! She made me laugh, AND she made me cry, as usual. Thanks for that! XD

This is such a fresh new voice in urban fantasy. I love the world building and the premise of fallen angels, without being too preachy, which I appreciate. Blaine has taken this mythology and made it ENTIRELY her own. It has elements of Buffy, with all the amulets and spells, which gives me all the feels! I think any adult can get into this, but if you're a 90s child like me it might hold something extra special for you.

::throws all the stars::

Pick this series up, you won't be disappointed!

***SPOILERS***

I really enjoyed this book. I gave it a lower rating because, although it kept me hooked, it did feel a little light in terms of the plot and development of characters. I kind of feel like even though you can read this as a standalone that you would be missing a lot if you read this before the first book in the series. I also think that the character development for Chaz wasn't that drastic and that he switches to lusting/loving Nyx pretty easily. Nyx seems a little one-note as well and I wish we got to know more about her in-depth.

What I loved so much about this book though was the bittersweet moment between her and Nyla. I legitimately cried because I thought about my sister and balled like a baby. I think that Chaz and Nyx definitely felt like equals in this book, much like Cass and Hannah. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and I cannot wait for Rosdan's book to come out!

5 Chazaqiel Stars!!

We’re back to my favourite Angels!😍
Darkened Soul is Book 2 of the When Watchers Fall Series, and can be read as a standalone.
BUT I highly recommend reading the first book, Fallen Rebel, because Kasdaye is amazing!!🙌🏻

If you’ve read Fallen Rebel, then you already know that Chaz is a cocky flirt, even for an angel! Haha! It’s adorable! Chazaqiel is all cockiness and sarcasm and I love it! He never loses that about him all throughout the story, even in the most mundane scenarios! It’s Chaz, what do you expect? Hahah!

The story gets more and more interesting as we are introduced to more ethereal groups. Besides the Watchers and the Nephilims, here we learn about another group who call themselves The Descended, but if you ask Chaz, they call them The Others.😂 Chaz is not very “angelic” to put it mildly, he’s something else entirely. But he’s serious as shit about taking care of his charges, Avery and Kai, and will do everything for them until they take their last peaceful breath and he finally goes home fully restored of his Light.

The story started in a typical Chaz scenario-having some in the bar bathroom and then wiping the girl’s memory of it after when she gets chatty and clingy. Hold up, he doesn’t do the memory wipe thing on everyone, just to those who he deems would be a snag sometime in the future, for his and for the chick. And that lucky lady from the bathroom quickie was Nyx.

Nyx was such an awesome character! I love everything about her! Even her mishaps and her selfishness (sometimes, but it’s totally understandable). She was such a fire! She matched Chaz in a way that has Chaz’s head spinning about her. And here’s a spoiler for y’all: Nyx was very interesting and the powers she have was so beneficial when it came to fighting off the demons, Chaz’s favourite: Abaddon, a.k.a. Donny. But of course Nyx had to fuck it up first before she gets to help them all out. 😝

She fucked up big time—just so you know—that if they didn’t need Nyx, she would’ve been already dead. After the third time. You’ll know how and why. Aaahh! It’s all so exciting!! I’m so fucking hyped up with all that she is! Badass!! Nyx and Chaz were like oil and water with all the banters and shit. Which is why it’s so funny when we learn how she’d had a massive crush on Chaz since her first life.

I feel like I’ve given so much away, but there’s still so many more! It’s insane!! I just love their world and now I’m excited to read on Rosdan’s book, which is the third one for the series. I love the twist and turns that Blaine did for Chazaqiel and Nyx’s story. We also get to see more of Kasdaye and Rosdan in here as well, and that epilogue was such a deja vu from the first book, with an epic surprise to them all! I love it! 😍
Better hold on to your immortality when you read this one because someone almost lost theirs in here. *wink wink*

THIS WAS OKAY, I MEAN I GOT INTRIGUED BY THE OPENING BUT THEN LATER IT'S JUST TOUCH AND GO FROM THERE.

Frankly I felt a little lost, but that might be my own fault for skimming certain parts. But, the MCs do have great chemistry which started out with them fucking in a bar. I thought the heroine wasn't anyone important but later she'll also be embroiled in the whole supernatural part of the story, and if I'm not mistaken she's actually older than Chaz himself LOL. Nyx's power was cool though, being able to revive again even after being killed, although there's a limited amount of times she can use it to her advantage until no more lives are left.

OVERALL I guess if you started out with Cass's story you might understand this world better. I didn't so it might be the reason I didn't quite get into this one or enjoyed the characters very much.

4.5 Stars!!
I loved Fallen Rebel, so much so that I was a bit worried for the book(s) that would follow. While Darkened Soul didn’t completely reach the Fallen Rebel’s level, it wasn’t too far! This book revolves around Chaz and Nyx and all sorts of danger, betrayal, and their insane attraction to each other.
I really enjoyed this book and there were a few things that were completely unexpected, which left me glued to my Kindle! I loved Chaz’s transformation, so to speak. Nyx definitely kept me on my toes. I never knew what to expect. I really thought she made the right choices in the end.
I can’t wait for Ros’s book. There’s already drama waiting for the next book!

I thought Darkened soul was a perfect continuation of the When watchers fall it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend that you read them in order you might run into some spoilers . I was so looking forward to Chazs story he totally stole my heart in book one and then I just fell for him even more , he's hilarious and can be swoon worthy with some of the sexy things he does . Nyx is perfect for the hero my heart just broke for her and when her background is reveled let just say there was some misty eyes going on . The storyline was great it did confuse me with some scenes but over all loved everything about it I was hooked from the start I can't wait for the mannys story I just know it's going to be great plus with the way this ended I hope some questions are answered .

Darkened Soul comes at a time when stepping into a world of Angels and demons is a much needed reprieve from the real one.

Fast paced and with quick wit, CG Blaine pulls me in and doesn't let me go, even after the epilogue. I love her imagination and am in awe of yet another very talented author...so much so I couldn't put it down!

This is the second book in her "When Watchers Fall" series and she brings it all together with a storyline of action packed yet emotional storytelling. It was hard to see how the H/h would end up at first but I feel like CG made it flow excellently by the end. I have enjoyed this series immensely so far and am looking forward to her 3rd book.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.

When I finished Cass’s story I remember being like what in the world I was not expecting that at all. So going into this one I feel like I know this world a little bit and how Chaz will be. NOPE!

I thought Chaz story was going to be a dare devils dream come true. I love wasn’t expecting him to so tormented.

And Nyx! You know nothing good can come of this right away. But omg there’s no way to even guess how this will turn out. And Chaz and Nyx are right there with you trying to figure it out. I did not want to like her! She lies and sets disaster into motion. Why can’t we get away from her!

I loved them all struggling Coming to terms with this strange love and evolving powers that intermingle with darkness. I can’t wait for Ros story.

I'm so in love with the When Watchers Fall series, and I'm going to need so many more books, as C.G. Blaine has brought me back to an original love! Chaz & Nyx's story was so freaking good that I didn't even move an inch until every last page was devoured! Nyx was a heroine after my own heart, and she was glorious to behold, while Chaz let me see a new side to him, and I was here for it all The adrenaline rush I experienced throughout, not to mention those twists to put me firmly in my happy place which I won't say with this trope. I'm ever so excited for Rosdan's story, and you will have this same feeling right after you hit those one click buttons to experience Darkened Soul for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ahhhh I didn't think you could get better than fallen rebel but oh hell Darkened soul was just perfect ,I knew Chaz was going to be special and wow he didn't disappoint.

I'm not going to say too much because ....well just read it...

A fantastic gripping story with characters you instantly fall in love with ,a mix of steam, suspense ,betrayal and humor that gives us a completely brilliant read even if your not normally a pnr fan I highly recommend you give it a try I've got a feeling Chaz might just win you over.......

Cannot wait for Ros's story got a feeling it's going to be epic.

Do you love banter? Grumpy one is soft for the....also pretty grumpy one? Sexy, sarcastic angels making bad decisions? Darkened Soul by C.G. Blaine has all of these things. This is not your average angelic protector romance. Chaz has major alphahole vibes in the best possible way. He is snarky and did I mention sexy? You get to see Chaz in ALL his glory 😏 in chapter 1 and you are dying for more every step of the way. I don't know how it's possible for a book to be hot and heavy AND a slow burn all in one book but somehow that is what this is. This was the PERFECT amount of heat for me. Each of our Fallen brothers are amazing in their own way. I cannot wait to read Rosdan's story next!

“Darkened Soul is book two in the When Watchers Fall series and it was pure bliss! I love paranormal romances so this series is just perfect for me. Chaz, we met him on the previous book and I loved him. He was a jerk I’m not gonna lie but he had a reason of why he acts like that. All because of Nyx. Yes, he didn’t like her but the more time they passed together things got way more complicated. They were perfect for each other as simple as that. He was protective toward her and before I realized he owned my heart. I’m absolutely in love with this series and it keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait for book three! A must read.”

Loved it!!!!

I so totally love the second book to the When Watchers Fall series because I would have never thought that Chaz was going to find someone to love and cherish just like Cass and Hannah does. Omg! I can't wait to read what happens next in the third book with Rosden if he finds love and how will they fix the Dimming Blade? Can Winter 2020 come any faster!!! I totally recommend this book to anyone who is interested in reading it trust me you won't regret its and I rate it a total of five stars because it well deserves it.

Wow! I couldn't put this down. I enjoyed book 1 and this one did not disappoint either. It's heart wrenching at times, especially for Nyx. I felt for her all throughout and I'll admit, I also cried my eyes out. Her chemistry with Chaz was out of this world and as much as they knew they shouldn't be together, you can only fight fate for so long.

📖Book Review📖

ARC gifted by the author.

Darkened Soul was the perfect follow up in the When Watchers Fall series by CG. Chaz is such a cocky ass sometimes and Nyx certainly balances out the relationship. I loved the development of these two and all the obstacles that were thrown at them. I definitely recommend picking this up. If you haven’t started this series then get to it! The first book is Fallen Rebel with Cass and Hannah and Rosdan’s book is coming soon! I can’t wait!
