Cheesy on the Eyes

Dating is hard. Dating in a small town? Impossible.

Leave it to my little brother to come back home announcing he knocked up his fiancée and the wedding has been moved…to next month.

When he tries to set me up with one of his football buddies, I tell him I’ll be bringing my own plus-one.

Only problem? I’m hopelessly single.

Enter Sullivan Scott, AKA my hero.

We strike a deal: he’ll pretend to be my boyfriend, and I’ll use my mechanic skills to help him fix his boat. That’s it. No funny business, and definitely no feelings involved.

Sully’s quiet and reserved, and I’ve been told I’m too much to handle on a good day. We’re opposites, and neither of us is looking for anything serious.

I’m certain we can keep this strictly platonic…

Cheesy on the Eyes was such a fun, sweet, and enjoyable read. I think this is my favorite Teagan Hunter book to date, and it's definitely my favorite of the 'Slice' series.
It’s hard to find someone in general, especially after getting your heart eviscerated, but small-town dating? Damn do I have my work cut out for me.

Thea has lived in the same small town all of her life. She runs the family business and has a pro football player for a brother. After a bad breakup, she's been single. It's hard to find someone in a small town. Then she meets Sully. Sully helps her out of a pickle and gets roped into being her fake boyfriend.

I have loved Sully since we first met him in earlier books. He is for sure the best hero of this series... sigh. He's just so intuitive and amazing. Even though Sully and Thea were supposed to be fake and had rules in place to keep them that way, well... the rules were meant to be broken and they ended up falling for one another.

The fake dating troupe, if done right, is one of my absolute favorites. And it was done so right in this book! I loved that the fake dating turned into friendship, and then it turned friends to lovers. I adored both of these characters and their story. It was also great to catch up with the rest of the 'Slice' family. I'm sad that this series has come to an end. I've grown so attached to all these characters. But it went out with a bang and I couldn't be happier.

This book is funny, it's sexy, and it was just a blast to read. The ending felt just a bit rushed for me, but aside from that, it was pretty perfect. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fantastic rom-com/fake dating romance!
Take the leap. Enjoy the fall.

This is by far my favorite Teagan Hunter book! It was so much fun to read, especially since it has everything I enjoy in a rom-com.

fake dating
→ easy and witty banter between the main characters ✓
siblings bickering who give each other shit, but are fiercly protective of each other ✓ I mean, if you haven't accused your brother/sister of being adopted once in your lifetime, it's about time you do that.
cute & heartwarming family scenes ✓ Thea's family is hilarious and literally family goals! At times I was more invested in her parent's love story than the main love story.
→ fun friendship dynamic between Sullivan and the whole guy gang from the previous books ✓
→ cozy small town vibes ✓

“And that, Mom, is why you’re my favorite mother.”
My dad snorts. “She’s your only mother.”
“So you say.” I shrug. “I’m still convinced I’m adopted.”
“You too?” Jonas asks. “I thought I was the only one hoping that was the case.”
“Is it illegal to sell your children?” my dad mutters.

So this book is really out here checking off all the boxes. Additionally, I really liked that Thea has a job working in a male-driven industry (she's a mechanic). Thea is unapologetically herself and knows what she's doing. Thea and Sully made a good duo with Thea being the outspoken and Sully the quiet & soulful one.

The reason why this wasn't a 5 star read was because once Thea and Sully's fake relationship got more real and they started to hang out all of the time, it lost its spark for me. I was more excited for all the Thea and Sully scenes with the supporting characters rather than the scenes they had together. On top of that the public declaration of love from Thea at her brother's wedding made me cringe very hard. Not a fan of these big public announcements when it's not necessary, as I felt like it was pretty out of character for Thea to do so.

Cheesy on the Eyes is a very cheesy read on EVERY level you can think of, but it's super light, fluffy and quick. Would recommend it, if you need something after something a little darker to balance it out. 😂

RATING: 4.25 stars to Cheesy On The Eyes! ★ ★ ★ ★

Sometimes a reader just needs a book to make her smile. It's a need. For the fun and feisty feel-good to make her feel good. To be washed over wave upon wave of wit, brass, sass and cheek. To be pulled upon a shore that stations a cramped houseboat owned by a private ocean-loving hunk. To feel that she's in good hands with a book well-chosen. And to laugh. To laugh a dozen times over with (and at) characters who are just absurdly their own kind of people. And arrive at a story outfitted with the spry glad rags of comical fun. That's why every reader who loves a fictional fun time should read this. But then again, perhaps I should really have anticipated customary excellence from Teagan Hunter. The universe must have paid nimble attention to my fictional heroine wishes because, as a female mechanic, Thea fit into one of the many gender-challenging roles I love to read about; ones that cut the cord of expected behaviour. She represents the cohort of us who don't quite assume the cliche form or fit into a required typecast. To borrow a phrase from her mother, 'she's her own person'. A mirror to my own thoughts, and for that reason, I loved Thea. As an unrepentant sass master, she's fully realised in her own Thea way. And Sully? By my own authoritative definition, he's nothing short of bookworm boyfriend material and I want him on my book boyfriend shelf. Immediately.

If you love the energy of Hunter's Textual series, and admittedly I do only have Let's Get Textual to form my measure, I'm pleased to challenge that you're going to love this. Maybe even more. Definitely even more. Like the first in the Textual series, Cheesy On The Eyes has a comically confident personality and an addictive charisma. The banter, the humour, the attitude, and the fun-laced relations finely qualify as prime reading time. I was just gleefully filing away all the similarities between Zach and Delia's relationship in Let's Get Textual and Thea and Sully's relationship in Cheesy On The Eyes. When the story opened up with Thea's POV< I realised I already loved her and her irreverent charm. And as soon as Sully entered the scene, my first thought was he's the best book boyfriend… and the story hadn’t even begun. I had big love for them from the earliest beginnings of their romance, and that isn't always the case for me. Comparatively,Let's Get Textual wasn't particularly high-heat, and unlike Zach and Delia's romance, this wasn't a strangers to text pals to daters to lovers to romance romance. This was more fake couple to 'friends' to maybe-sex buddies to actual sex buddies to romance romance. Far from my umbrage and much to my relish, Cheesy on the Eyes does dial up the heat, and even rises a bit in depth in addition. This story echoes what I loved about the former, just with more added goodness.

Thea started going to Slice for her own set of reasons altogether, and unlike most, it's not because of their small-town pizzeria's well-loved dish. Much to the affront of the owner, it's also because she's not the least bit tempted by his cheesy baked goods, which of course, is exactly what every restaurant owner wants to hear. To keep her waistline from further risk of expanding, it's Thea's fixation for her real food-stuff obsession that she's not willing to succumb to; the sweet stuff. Little to do with the quality of the food and everything to do with her dislike for a global favourite is the talk of whoever confronts her controversial food choice. More to the current point though, Slice is her hiding place and her productive space. Even more to the point, while it might be easy for the administers of heartache to walk away without much trouble, it's the heartbroken that are left to continue with life not quite feeling whole. And as openly spirited as Thea is, there's a side of her that's just as limited by her own self-doubt. So when she sees her ex with his new girlfriend, she ropes in an unsuspecting Slice goer to be her fake other, and while Sullivan Scott decides to help out a not-so-damsel in distress on a trustful whim, he doesn't know that he's about to eat his fake famous last words to her because "fate [really] is that sure of them, baby."

While Thea's an island purist with no plans of ever leaving, Sully's a relative newbie. After wading through his own personal - and domestic - difficulties a few years prior, he finally found himself in a place that feels like home. He also found himself a brotherhood in his crazy coastal gang. As I mentally scan through my inventory of 'read' romance novels, I can't recall ever reading about a hero equipped with a strong Intuition. No leading man before Sully has ever carried that elusive trait (I believe), which in my eyes, makes him cut from a decidedly tempting cloth entirely. And again, proves to be another example of gender-challenging profiling that stretches and disrupts the limits of gender-expectancy with leading male representation that I'm fully in favour of. It was a private, joyful novelty not only to consider him the more grounded, retiring hero who likes his own space, but that he trusted his senses when it came to people. Again, similar to Thea, I existed in a space where I could resonate with him in my own way. But despite being the more reserved and watchful of his friends (which he gets all the extra points for), he's in no way any less of an entertaining double to equal his unabashed heroine, nor a lesser important hero in his own right. Sully's quiet confidence paired with his silent alpha simplicity made him a match that never backed down from his love interest.

While Sully has that extra presentiment with reading people, I won't lie and say that his not being able to read Thea at all completely gave me Bella and Edward vibes (which was a nice callback to my Twilight-obsessed days). As is really quite common with 'mated' paranormal romance, I often find that a hero who has a fated 'other' in addition to that Intuitive knowing when he's met with the identity of his heroine usually reasons away the actual Importance of properly developing a real romantic connection. The 'it's meant to be from first sight' trope usually substitutes the place of a real stages and pieces relationship evolution. I'm definitely pleased that - while this isn't a PR romance by any factual means - that this doesn't follow the same example. Sully's inability to cast a knowing eye over Thea easily allows them, and him especially, to organically let things between them travel as they may. And although they had an easy familiarity, that he couldn't suss her out really works in favour of the romance because his lack of knowing allowed them to be as they were without an intuitive 'compass' to get in the way. But you never know, if Cheesy on the Eyes ever decided to cross-breed itself with the paranormal field, let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if, after a firm bite and blood-suck from the cold ones, Thea'd resurface with the very same of Bella's shielding gifts.

I think I'd place this into the slow burn pile, and while I was hoping for the romance to reach a certain height (because I felt that it tapered off and withdrew) and the ending could have used more attention, this was full of such joy that the 'com' part of this rom-com eclipses any fallback. Teagan Hunter makes the best out of every included trope and I was just all bright eyes and silly smiles for Cheesy On The Eyes. Perhaps fitting though, considering the title. Thea and Sully are great as represented singletons, and dare I say even more wonderful together. There is an element of opposites attract but there's also so much familiarity, affinity and reflective repartee that these two come together better than perhaps even a well-made pizza. (I think it's a fundamental rule to insert at least one unplanned pizza pun as a homage to the rom-com so I place onus on review-writing dictum). I was a bit tired of my usual tropes and character profiles, and as soon as I started to read this I knew I'd changed things up with the right book. The author's wit easily carries across and into each book, and I was pleased to see that Teagan Hunter's funny gene showed no signs of dwindling, dying or tailing off to a forgettable mist. The banter, the bickering, the silliness, the small-town setting, the brilliantly bantersome but loyal Schwartz tribe, Simon (because every story/series needs a no-nonsense staple), it was a rich but real vibe.

A fake relationship romantic comedy with a magnificent overlay and overlap of badinage. Being challenged with the idea that everything you are and know about yourself is a strike against you is really what's holding Thea back in life. As was being told by someone she loved that she was not enough by being too much. While she stands out without shrinking, her insecurity reduces her in ways that many - besides her family - can't see. Thea was easily a brazen lead and you could call me happy as a hummingbird to read from a heroine I really liked. The idea of a leading lady who was raised to want and be nothing other than she is - it's positively refreshing. In a lot of ways, Thea’s the girl many of us would want to be, strive to be, without a worry of wondering if we’re too much or too little to be accepted. And that even she can’t always be impervious to have that sense of self threatened.

Even without having read the prior books in the series, I boldly claim that Sully would still be my favourite hero of the series. A curvy girl heroine with a raging sweet tooth, Thea's a lovely homage to those of us who have been brought up to know ourselves without an ounce of desire to lose ourselves, who never quite fit in with the expected and decided she never wanted to. To be her difference. And simply speaking, Thea's family are an addictive brood and I fully recommend experiencing fictional space with them at least once a day. Part of me wishes I could walk into Simon's pizzeria, sit my tush comfortably in an alcoved booth (without being seen) and eavesdrop on the steady stream of entertaining conversations this crazy crowd seem to have, because I have to of course protect those socially awkward sensibilities, fretfully overwrought creature that I am. To round up, Thea and Sully can get cheesy on me any time. With a sun-kissed, keep-to-himself sort of guy who lives life the way he wants to live it; riding the waves, fixing up his boathouse and hitting the gab with his guy gang, a confection-hungry heroine who operates on a steady diet of sass, undwindling Thea-ness and bold claims, a salt-of-the-earth couple, there's sweet and savoury goodness from start to HEA. A flavoursome rom-com with all the fun, flavour and Hunter fruitiness that generously tickles and tackles the funny bone.

Ugh,” I groan. “Get a room, you two.”
My parents pull themselves apart, my mom tucking her lips together and burying her face in my dad’s neck. At least she bothers to look embarrassed. My dad just rolls his eyes, saying, “Last I checked, you don’t live here. This whole house is our room, cockblock.”
“Oh my god!” I cover my ears. “What did I tell you about calling me that?”
“What?” His voice is full of unwarranted innocence. “It’s what you are. It’s what you’ve been since the day you were born. I’m surprised we even found the time to sneak away and make your brother.”

“One of these days, Thea, I’m gonna give you the boot if you keep coming here and spreading out like you do while still refusing to eat my cooking.”
“I am eating your cooking"
He shakes his head, arms now crossed over his thick chest. “That is not my cooking. Any idiot can toss a couple fries into the fryer.”
“Well, you’re my favorite idiot, if it makes you feel any better.”
He huffs out a laugh. “You wanna compliment me? Order some damn pizza next time.”
“Gross. Why would I do that?”
“Because”—he gestures around the space—“in case you haven’t noticed, this is a pizzeria!”
I scrunch my nose. “Is that what the awful smell is?”

I chuckle, lifting my glass. “Thank you.”
“That right there”—he points at me—“is why you’re my favorite, Sully.”
“I’m your son. I should be your favorite.”
“It’s for that very reason you’re my least favorite. I’ve spent way too many years with you already. I need a change.”
“That’s not how parenting works!” Winston complains to his retreating back. “God, I love that old asshole,” he mutters, stealing Foster’s straw from his cup.

“Anyway, just thought you’d maybe want to go say hi to your girl since you’ve come in here every day looking for her.” My eyes widen, and he laughs. “I know you like my pizza, but not that much. Plus, it was really funny when you ordered a dessert pizza, then looked around like she would come running at the sound of sugar.”
I glare at him, because I didn’t look that desperate, I’m sure.

“You’re not acting like it’s nothing.” His lips pull into a toothy grin. “Are you holding out on us, dude? Do you have a girlfriend you haven’t told us about?”
“It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the case,” Foster says. “Guy’s a fucking steel trap.” He snorts. “He could work for the CIA he’s so damn good at keeping shit secret.” “Foster touches himself to furry and cartoon porn. I caught him once when he was staying with me and Winston.”
“What the fuck, Sully?!”
“How’s that for keeping secrets?” I smirk at him.

“Babysitter?” Jonas stops in his tracks. “What babysitter?” He looks at me wildly. “What are they talking about, Thea? You’re older—do you remember a babysitter?” “There was our neighbor, Miss Marr…”
His eyes widen more, if that’s even possible at this point, and he rushes from the room. “Frank! Promise we’re never letting any strangers watch our baby, especially if they try to buy it.”
“Who will want to buy our baby?”
“Probably a lot of people. He’s gonna be so cute.”
I look at my parents. “If I wasn’t adopted, at least tell me Jonas was, because I’m not sure I want to share DNA with that moron.”
“We’ll never tell. Right, Harvey?”
My dad zips his lips, tossing away the key, and then they cackle like they just told the best joke ever.

“Oh. Well.” Her eyes light up, and I can already see her planning my wedding too. “I look forward to meeting this boy.”
“What if it’s a girl?”
“Please.” My mother rolls her eyes. “Like I’d give a shit. I just want my children to be happy.”

“Believable, I heard you.”
I pinch the bridge of my nose. “Maybe we should make a couple lists of basics and exchange them. You know, things we should know about each other, like the fact that you’re a walking abomination who doesn’t like pizza.”
“I’ll break up with you right here, I swear it.”
“Liar. You need me too much.”
“Shit,” she mumbles. “Good point. Okay, so the last rule I can think of for now is—” “What? I can’t add another rule?”
“If you interrupt me one more time, I swear…” She mutters something I can’t quite make out, then looks at me pointedly. “Do you have another rule to add?”
“No.”
She growls, and it’s so cute coming out of her tiny frame that it takes my all not to laugh

“You don’t like Christmas?” She turns on me the moment I step over the threshold. “I can do without it.”
“What?!” she cries. She screws up her irritated eyes. “‘Can do without it.’ You’re an animal.”
“Only in the sheets.”

I’m starving,” Thea complains.
“You know where the kitchen is,” I tell her.
“That is not what you’re supposed to say. You’re supposed to jump up and bring me breakfast in bed or some shit. You know, be romantic after I let you defile me.” “Defiling you would imply there was something good there to taint.”
She pinches at my nipple and I yelp, pulling away from her tight grasp. “Hey, you shit! That is not being romantic at all, especially after I let you—”
“Don’t you dare say defile you.”
She shakes her head. “I heard every word you whispered in my ear last night—you were obviously defiled long ago.”

“Yeah? Well I’m just trying to figure out how you can be so damn sexy and also be the absolute worst person to sleep next to.”
Her lips pull into a lazy, sleepy grin. “You might be hating on me right now, but all I’m hearing is how sexy you think I am.”
“You’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen,” I tell her.
“I am?” She points to her stomach. “Is it this jelly roll or this one that gets you going?”
I splay my hand over her stomach, loving the feel of her under my touch: soft and silky. “Hmm…it’s gotta be this one.”
“Ah, the cinnamon bun one. Makes sense you’d like it the most since you’re the one who keeps me in healthy supply.”

“Don’t worry, Thea, I know you’re not ready. But when you are, and when I finally grow some balls and ask for your hand in marriage, you’ll say yes before I can even get the full sentence out.” He leans across the table, smirking at me, that same smirk as always. The one I love so fucking much it makes my heart ache. “Fate is that sure of us, baby.”

“You sayin’ I’m nothing special to look at?”
Oh, Sullivan Scott, you’re more than something special. “Eh, you’re okay. I’d still bang the shit out of you though.”

You’re not exactly quiet yourself,” I point out.
“I don’t hear you complaining.”
“Oh, I definitely am not. Speaking of your bedroom activities…I didn’t expect you to be so…commanding in bed.”
“Why? Just because I’m…what did you call me? The quiet, soulful one?”
“Honestly? Yeah.”
“Don’t judge a book by its cover, Thea.”

Stop looking at me like that,” I say when I can’t take it anymore.
“Like what?”
“Like you’re…I don’t know…annoyed or something.”
“Annoyed?”
“Yeah, with me.”
“Oh, Thea. I’m not annoyed. If anything, I’m intrigued. You remind me of the ocean.” “What? How?”
“You’re…unpredictable.” I tuck my hair behind my ear, trying to ignore the way my hands are starting to shake as he continues to stare at me.
“Is…is that bad?”
“No.” He wets his lips and finally peels his eyes away from me, shifting them back down to the list in front of him. “I happen to love the ocean."

Teagan is known for her rom-com abilities. This book rockets out of the sky! Puts her in a league of her own!

Sully and Thea are hilarious! More hilarious than I imagined they would be.

The story starts out innocent enough, ex walks in with new flavor of the day on his arm, of course Thea should just have someone pretend to be her boyfriend. What could go wrong with that?!? Hilariousness-that’s what!

The cheesy dad one liners are great! I laughed out loud so many times while reading. But the lines that aren’t cheesy are where it’s at. These lines are what make this a Teagan book.

“Love her enough for both of you until she’s not scared anymore. Then love her some more.”

Could that be anymore perfect?!?

I loved everyone being back in this book. I think I can say this is hands down my favorite of the series. Sully and Theas story was worth the wait. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I would start at the beginning because so much Amazingness is in all the books.

Cheesy on the Eyes is the absolute best romantic comedy story that made me smile so much as I was reading!
Thea and Sully are a match made in pizza heaven or not, as the case may be!! Hands down it made my absolute week!
Thea has absolutely no filter when she says anything and I really want to be her friend! Sully though, is the quiet but rather wonderful man, who I couldn’t help but love! He was charming, funny, rather intense but also endearing!
I loved the witty banter, the amazing friendships and the emotions this beautiful story brought out in me! What happens when pretending becomes the possibility of more? Do you run or take the leap? Does fate have its hand in the pot??? So well worth reading!
Fun, entertaining and sizzling chemistry and characters that you really want to be real!! Don’t forget pizza, who doesn’t love pizza??? Grab this amazing book for a delicious, witty ride!!

Just when I thought this series couldn’t get any better, Teagan Hunter goes above and beyond and makes me fall even more in love with this series. This series continues to be an absolute favorite and I know that will never change. Sully and Thea are perfectly-imperfect perfection. I fell hard and fast for Sully and Thea. They were everything I wanted and didn’t know I needed.

Thea was EVERYTHING! The fact that she dominated a male-dominated profession and genuinely loves her job and doesn’t take crap from anyone. That she’s sassy and witty and has absolutely no filter. And that even though she is strong and stands up for what she believes in, but is still vulnerable and real, that is what makes her my favorite female character to date.

“We’re worth the risk.”

And Sully, goodness gracious this beautiful man. Soulful and kind describe Sully perfectly, but he is also so much more. He is funny, generous, loyal, and loving. He genuinely cares and it’s truly a sight to behold.

“Love her enough for the both of you until she’s not scared anymore. Then love her some more.”

Together Sully and Thea have to be one of my all-time favorite couples! The way they are around and with one another is just so real. They accept each other fully, they bring out the absolute best in one another, and they genuinely love and care for each other. Their banter is without a doubt one of my favorite things. They keep each other on their toes, they give and take, and together they are complete.

“Fate is that sure of us baby.”

No one writes feel-good stories like Teagan Hunter. Whenever I want a story that is going to make me smile and laugh, Teagan’s stories are my go to. This book is no different. From beginning to end I was absolutely hooked. I was laughing-out-loud and could not get rid of the genuine, full-blown smile on my face. Teagan stories bring happiness to my life in so many ways.

The Slice crew is without a doubt one of my favorites. Even though I am extremely sad to see this series come to an end, I know I always have their stories to go back and escape to.

Phenomenal!

We have been waiting for what seems like forever for Sully's book, and it does not disappoint! There is so much I loved about this one. It is definitely my favorite of the Slice series.
Thea is amazing. She is a tiny, adorable, 100% unfiltered mechanic who is succeeding in a male dominated industry. She's been burned, though, and afraid to catch feelings again and get her heart broken again. Sully is just perfection. Three books of buildup were absolutely worth the payout here. I adored their relationship, their banter, and their chemistry. These two absolutely belong together. And while this is a standalone, each couple from the previous four books (and Simon, owner of Slice) appear often so there is a lot of fun interaction, dialogue, and shenanigans involved. But don't worry, if for some wild reason you haven't read the other books you absolutely won't feel lost or like you're missing something in this one. Although if you loved the novella A Slice of Love and want more Frankie and Jonas, Thea is Jonas's sister and they are both in this book. Score!! I also loved Thea's relationship with her family, both with her parents and with her brother. As an aside, I absolutely adore that lots of the parents in this author's books have long marriages and they are still shown as happily in love and having healthy romantic lives.

I tried to pick out lines to highlight, but I couldn't narrow it down and would basically be copying and pasting the entire book so instead I'll just drop two of my favorite moments that made me laugh out loud: rock stuffed teddy bears, and chapter 13. Yes, the whole chapter. You will understand when you read this.

Gah! Every slice in this series tastes a little better than the one before it! I enjoyed this book very much! We FINALLY get that inside look into the very mysterious Sully and get to love his quiet nature even more. He deserved his own story so much and I am so glad his voice came to life! He is smooth and quick witted and he loves with everything he is, and when he steps in to help out a complete stranger that throws him for a loop, his true self is certainly put to the test. Thea is nothing short of a wild storm. She is a girl after my own heart, a no filters, say it like it is and is not ashamed of who she is. when a bad situation from her past lingers on her conscience and causes her to doubt her self worth, she does everything she can to hide it from not only the ones she loves but herself most of all. What better way to do that then to hire a pretend boyfriend right? This story is a sweet and witty rom-com with tons of tender moments and a gaggle of laughs with the crazy Slice gang! You don't want to miss this installment of the Slice series it will be sure to please the palate!

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.

I loved Thea; I am Thea. She was too loud, no filter, sarcastic, she wasn’t a girly-girl. She had been told once that she was "too much" and those words were always there lingering in the back of her mind and I have heard that said about me too.

Sully is my new favorite Slice man! From the moment he agreed to go along with her crazy I was addicted, the connection these 2 shared felt different than any romance I have ever read, it felt deeper, stronger. If there were a step above soul mates Thea and Sully would be in that category. Thea wasn’t too much for Sully and I loved that embraced her crazy.

Their special brand of crazy made their banter hilariously entertaining, SO HOT and extra cheesy.

I have been waiting for sweet Sully’s book and holy crap did Teagan Hunter DELIVER for my man! Sully has hovered in the background for the first few books and I absolutely love that he got his time to shine. He’s the sweetest soul but so funny and loyal to those who deserve it. His relationship with Foster, Winston, and Porter was pure gold. The back and forth between those four was hilarious and throwing Simon into the mix made it even better.

As for Thea, I think she may be my all-time favorite Teagan Hunter heroine. She’s quirky and the sass is real with her. I also love that she doesn’t take crap from anyone, and she’s not afraid to tell you what she thinks. Her relationship with her entire family was beautiful and hilarious and the way they tease each other but are also each other’s fiercest protectors was seriously heart-warming to read.

Thea and Sully together are seriously the most imperfectly perfect couple ever. They are so different, yet I felt like at their cores they were the same. Those two are for reals the definition of opposites attract and they rock it. They are both so true to themselves that they complement each other. They are my favorite Slice couple, and this without a doubt is one of my favorite series to date that I’ve read. I’m so sad that we are saying goodbye to the Slice world, but what a way to end it!

I need a Dessert Pizza like now! Cheesy on the Eyes was one if my most anticipated reads this year. It did not disappoint. It made me laugh out loud, cry, and it made me so darn hungry. Seriously, this author has a way with words making your mouth salivate just thinking about the fictitious foods she creates.

This book is all about Sully. If you've read the others in the serious, which I suggest you do, then you know Sully. He is the strong, silent type with wisdom beyond his years. I loved reading his story and getting him to see him meet his match. Oh and what a match they make.

The heat in this book is amazing. The characters have a dynamic that leads to the chemistry flying off the pages. I loved each and every interaction with them. I also loved the writing style. The author did a great job balancing the serious notes with the humor while incorporating the rest of this world she created.

Overall, I cannot wait to see where this author goes next. I know it will be amazing!

Cheesy-on-the-Eyes-1

Cheesy on the Eyes is the 5th story in the Slice series and follows Sully & Thea. It is a fake dating, strangers to friends to lovers story with enough laughs & heart warming moments to make you never want to leave this town of people Teagan has created.

Sully is a sweet, gentle and soulful guy who has always had the knack for reading people. He is funny, charming, independent, vulnerable and he is by far my favourite guy in this series & I was very much anticapting his story and I was not dissapointed at all. I LOVE HIM SO VERY MUCH.

Thea is funny, witty, outspoken and unapologetic about it. She has many insecurities and vaulnerblities brought on by previous relationships which has left her somewhat gaurded when it comes to love. When we first met her in A Slice of Love (the novella) I was secretly hoping she would be the leading lady in Sully's book and I'm so glad she was. I loved her character just as much as I loved Sully. Her family was amazing & my heart broke for her a few times with how she had been made to feel previously but she truly was amazing.

Sully & Thea were so perfect together and I loved how their differences and opposite personalities just seemed to fit. This entire series is one of my favourites and getting to see all the interactions with each previous character in this book just made this all the more special. I could easily read about this group of friends and family forever.

This is sooooo freaking good. I laughed for the most part of this story, and I've never encountered a more crazy duo than these two. 😂 This is a light, fun, and low-angst book. Ngl, it's hot too. 🤭

I loved Thea's no-filter, strong-willed, and sassy personality. She's just real and doesn't care much about the opinions of other people. Her antics made me crack so much, and she's one of the funniest and craziest FMCs I've ever read this year. While I do love her personality most of the time, her fear of admitting her feelings for Sully quite gets annoying a bit. I know her ex did a number on her (that twat was such an asshole) and I did hope that in time she'd eventually realize that Sully is different from that jerk. I didn't appreciate her ghosting him twice when, at times, it became too real to handle for her. Buuuuut, I do love that she made up for it, finally took the freaking leap, and made her public grand gesture for him. I'm not a fan of audiences for love professions, but it's the thought that counts, I guess.

I looooove Sully and his juju thingy. It's not usual for me to read about fictional men who have an in-depth connection with their feelings. Most MMCs I've encountered were too dumb and almost too late to realize the important things in their lives, but Sully isn't like that. 🥰 He knows Thea is different and is willing to explore this chemistry that he has never felt before. The banter between these two and the sh*t they gave each other were so top-tier comical. Thea has a strong personality and is sometimes a bit extra with everything that she does, but not once did Sully back down from her and tell her to tone it down. He loves everything about her, and he shows it to her every single time they spend together.

There's no angst in this book. It's a fun light rom-com with a touch of fake dating, with the MCs progressing from strangers to friends with benefits to lovers. I love the found family and Thea's family in general; they're loud, crazy, and have no filter, but most of all, they love hard and are never afraid to show it to everyone. Her parents marriage is like a picture-perfect relationship, and I love how they were very supportive and loving to her and her brother.

I also loved Sully's friends and how these grown ass men acted like children when they got together. They're nuts when you put them in one room, but you can definitely see the brotherly bonding that they have. I'm happy he found a real family with them, and it was heartwarming how they also got each other's backs.

Overall, I had so much fun reading this. This would've been a 5-star read if Thea hadn't ghosted Sully twice and if this book hadn't had a HFN ending. Since this is the final installment in the series, I had high expectations and kind of wanted to get a peek at all the couples' lives years later. But, nah, this ended with them deciding to move in together and nothing more. I'm a bit disappointed, but it is what it is. 🤷‍♀️

Anywaaaay, this was enjoyable, short, quick read, and definitely a worthwhile read to me. 💖💖

Book info:
- Fake dating
- Small town romance
- Found family
- Rom-com
- No cheating, owd
- OMD (see notes)
- Non-virgin MCs (see notes)
- Semi-breakup (see notes)
- Unsafe smex (h's on BC)
- HFN (in a relationship)

Notes:
- They seemed to be equally experienced when it comes to smex department. After Thea's ex cheated on her two years ago, she settled into hookups and short flings. That's the MO of Sully too, but he said it's been too long for him since his last action; idk how long though.
- She ghosted him twice in the story, which lasted for days. When their arrangement becomes too intense and too real for her, Thea always resorts to running away because of the trauma caused by her last relationship.
- OMD. Not really, but in the beginning, her ex appeared flaunting his new girlfriend, and Thea saw Sully, and they pretended to be in a relationship in front of him.

Teagan Hunter's Cheesy on the Eyes was one of those books.
If you asked, I couldn't share which author directed me to the book, but boy I am thrilled they did. This was the perfect, lighthearted, fun, and oh, so sexy book. It had major doses of humor, quirky characters and it all worked for me.

It was the perfect escapism.

I suggest this just might be what you need to give you some swoony moments and big smiles.

Let me preface this with that i think I've loved every one of Teagan's male characters for their individual traits. But Sully might have usurped them all. He has always intrigued me thru Foster, Winston, and Porter's books. So to hear that we were getting his story thrilled me to no end! Because he was the one guy that always left you curious about him. Him being all quiet and soulful should i say... and with this book we got to peel away the layers that made up Sully to see the guy he was underneath everything. Let's all pick up our jaws at how much Sully surprised you with his bedroom antics. 😏😏 Like come on man killing me slowly and yes please can we have more of what happen at the shop!! 🙌🙌🙌 Now lets talk Thea! Woah. I loved how she was making a name for herself being in a men dominated field such as auto mechanic!!! Like yessss girl get it and do it well! I loved her in the sliver of Slice of Love we got earlier in the year! She was a hoot and i knew i had to have a story for her. Can't leave her hanging. I loved her and her special one abilities, seriously i could be best friends with her. I nearly spit out my drink many of times with the crap that came out her mouth. Literally howling. Which I'd expect no less from this author she is my go to with rom com's and the humor thats right up my alley always. While i love the main characters. The side characters from past Slice books were missed and well welcomed back into the fold with this one. If anything they made the book even better. Because they are absolutely a riot all on their own but add the couples, Simon, and Thea's parents its comedy gold! I loved that Jonas and Frankie even made an appearance. BEST SURPRISE EVER. I can't wait for you to get all Cheesy in love with this addition to the Slice series.

What happens when your ex-boyfriend walks into the pizzeria where you’re at—alone, no less—with his new girlfriend? Grab the nearest guy to pretend to be your boyfriend, of course. And that’s just how Sully and Thea have their chance encounter. Surprisingly enough, they hit it off great but when they part ways, Sully never uses the phone number Thea gave him to ask her on a date.

But when Thea learns her brother’s wedding is sooner rather than later, and all her family is wondering when on earth she’ll finally have a date, word vomit takes over and she announces that she’ll be taking Sully, her new boyfriend. Thea tracks Sully down with her proposition and to her surprise, he agrees to be her fake beau because little does she know, Sully has a sweet spot for her. But she makes him promise that under no circumstance will he fall in love with her. Sounds easy, right?

Sully moved to their small town years ago to escape his troubled past and now lives on a houseboat. And there’s just something about him that Thea can’t resist. What started out as an agreement turns into a true friendship and before long, Thea finds herself breaking every rule she ever made. Some things in life are worth bending the rules for...

Cheesy on the Eyes by Teagan Hunter is the fifth and final book in the Slice series. I’m so sad to see this series come to a close, but I think this book wrapped everything up perfectly. Thea and Sully had such a natural relationship and friendship that I loved reading about. Sully is by far my favorite hero of the series—he’s genuine, sexy, friendly and just so dang earnest. He’s the ultimate book boyfriend! This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend checking out the rest of the series. 5/5 stars.

Thank you Wildfire Marketing and Teagan Hunter for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars!

Sully baby, I knew you would be amazing😭 I've only been waiting for his book for pretty much forever, and I'm so happy I finally got it. I love him even more, and I definitely did NOT expect the dirty talk, so Sully is definitely on par with Foster on being my favorites in this series. He's just so amazing all around.

Thea on the other hand, although I really liked her quirkiness, her stubbornness was a bit annoying at times, and her constant refusal on sex or "feelings" was a little too much. I do like how she wasn't afraid to say what came to her mind though. But I wish she could have been more feeling or emotional or something.

Overall, I really liked this book. It was cutesy, sexy, and there were fun times with the whole gang together. It's also probably my second favorite in the series now, right behind book 1. Sad to see these characters go, but can't wait to see what other stories Teagan has in store for us.

IT'S SULLY'S BOOK AND CALLED CHEESY ON THE EYES! I MEAN...TEAGAN COULDN'T HAVE NAMED IT MORE PERFECTLY!

I'VE LOVED ALL HER WORK AND I HAVE NO DOUBT I'M GOING TO DEVOUR THIS AS HARD AS THE REST!

BRING IT ON SULLY!!!

REVIEW TIME GUYS!!

First of all I cannot explain how excited I have been for this book! I loved Sully from the first moment I met him in the previous books. He was an instant mystery. Quiet and soulful sum him up.

However getting Sully's book lets us take a peek into the real man himself and let me tell you...damn is he just all the more lovable.

I held off reading this book wanting to savour it further since I wasn't able to get an ARC and it was worth the wait. From the fake dating, to the banter, to the unfiltered Thea-isms. This story had it all in spades.

When Thea Schwartz is busy working away in a pizza store called, Slice and sees her horrible ex walk in she can't help but wave over a stranger to help save her. Sully helps her more our of curiosity than anything but he doesn't expect to be roped into a ruse of being her fake boyfriend for longer when Thea needs one for her brothers wedding.

It's a deal. Cold and solid with rules but you know rules are meant to broken. As Sully and Thea spend funny and cute moments together getting to know another to make sure their relationship feels real it slowly transitions to more.

Lines blur and well feelings get involved. This book is low on the angst, high on humour. I loved so many moments but I think my favourites were Sully's true personality that comes out in the bedroom *wink* *wink* and the smooth ass words he uses to compare Thea to the ocean.

Their connection and story made me remember all the reasons I love Teagan Hunter and her books. She has Rom-Coms with the best snarky cast available anytime.

Sully is immediately a top favourite that I will store next to my love for Zach from Let's Get Textual! Thank you Teagan for this amazing, cheesy scrumptious read. It was the perfect ending to the slice series. I can't wait to jump onto the next series!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This has been my favorite book so far in the Slice series. I absolutely adored this book. Teagan Hunter has got this romcom thing down pat.

Teagan Hunter has a great writing voice. Her narration is smooth and it invites the reader in. She effortlessly weaves in humor and emotion to really hook you into the story. I love her witty lines and her way of tacking amusement into her stories. I enjoyed the plot of this book very much. It is a classic tale of a person that has been hurt that pushes people away for fear of getting hurt again. I really loved Hunter's spin on this type of story. The book was addicting and I was devouring the pages like they were candy. (Much like our sweet tooth of a main character, Thea.)

These characters were really written beautifully. There wasn't a single thing that I disliked about them. They were completely likable and relatable. I had no problem slipping into their lives. Both Sully and Thea had excellent character development and growth. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books in the series. This is really an amazing cast of secondary characters that add so much depth and spark to the story.

The romance was developed so well in this book. The romance starts off as a fake relationship and we all know how those end, am I right? I loved that Sully and Thea had this easy way with one another that was effortless. I liked their instant chemistry from the very first time they met. Their connection with one another could have been seen from space. I loved the slow-burn of the romance as Sully and Thea get to know one another.

Overall, this book ticked off all the boxes on the things that I love in a good romantic comedy. Characters that I truly became passionate about, a plot that kept things interesting and fun, and a romance that was written in the stars. This is such a great series and one that I wholeheartedly recommend.

“Fate is that sure of us, baby.”

Yesss, Sully!!! I've been waiting for his book since book 1! He was always in the background, really quiet but also so intriguing! I really loved this one.
Sully was definitely a lot more than I expected, he had a bad past and was trying to overcome it and make the best of the situation he was in at the moment.
Thea was also amazing! She's Jonas' sister, from A Slice of Love, and I was really curious about her too.

To see this story unrevealed was amazing! I could not put my kindle down! Their banter was so funny and when everyone was together, it was so so funny! I loved it!!
I really sad the series is over and now I don't know what to do with myself but I loved meeting this series and falling in love with these characters, it was an amazing ride.

Oh. My. God. I have the biggest girl crush ever on Thea!! This couple is hands down my favourite of Teagan’s! They were everything.

Thea was hilarious, & so unbelievably herself that I absolutely love her. Love her! I wish I could be best friends with her. Haha seriously I could go on & on.

Sully... ah sweet, soulful Sully. He’s every girls dream. The thing I loved about him was that there is more to him than meets the eye. 😉

These two together were absolute fire. The chemistry & the back & forth made this book an absolute joy to read. You don’t want to miss out on this really really great read! It’ll have you giggling & fanning your face!

I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

I received an advanced copy of this title. It does not impact my review.

This book was so fun! Teagan Hunter excels at laugh-out-loud banter and cute romance and Cheesy on the Eyes was no exception.

Current fans of the Slice series will be happy to see Sully finally get a chance to be leading man. He’s always been a likable character in the series and I really enjoyed getting his POV. Thea is a relatively new character to the series and I mostly enjoyed her, as well. She is a bit of a quirky character, so she had to grow on me, but I ultimately ended up liking her and appreciated her growth.

The banter in this book was so much fun. Hunter always manages to make me laugh out loud when I’m reading her books. It occasionally got a little more crude than I like, but that didn’t really hinder my enjoyment. I absolutely loved the scenes that brought the characters from all the previous books together. It was non-stop banter and I just had a big smile on my face while reading it. I would love to be a part of their group.

Sully and Thea start off as a fake relationship, which is my favorite romantic trope. There were some funny and slightly uncomfortable scenes that I always looks for, but for the most part, they didn’t spend too much time trying to fool other people. Their friendship begins very quickly and real feelings soon follow. There’s still a little angst and a big cheesy romantic gesture at the end, though. I definitely shipped them.

Overall, Cheesy on the Eyes was a quick, fun read that I enjoyed. The banter was great and the romance was cute. I definitely recommend this one to Romance fans.

Overall Rating (out of 5): 4 Stars

NO SPOILERS!

Cheesy on the Eyes has honestly been Teagan Hunter’s BEST, FUNNIEST, and SEXIEST romantic comedy to date, and I absolutely LOVED Sully and Thea’s story!

The storyline was excellent and so much better than I anticipated. I also loved Teagan Hunter’s prose and hilarious sense of humor. Sully and Thea’s journey was such a fun, sexy, swoon-worthy, and entertaining ride, and I couldn’t have loved it more. It was just what I needed. :)

The characters were superb, and I adored them with all my heart. Sully, Thea, their friends, and her family were absolutely fantastic. The personalities, the banter, the love, and the laughs amongst all of them were beyond amazing, and I loved every single second. Sully and Thea were especially exceptional, and I immediately fell head over heels in love with them. They were perfect for each other in every way, and it was a blast watching their romance unfold.

Teagan Hunter wove her magic and created absolute romcom PERFECTION with Cheesy on the Eyes! Sully and Thea’s sexy, hilarious, and swoon-worthy romance is NOT to be missed, and I can’t wait to devour whatever this author releases next!

Officially my favorite of the series! This one has it all!

Full review to follow!
**************

Take the leap and fall!

This story? It has everything. Fake relationship. Humor. Heart. An engaging group of friends. And pizza.

I'm a sucker for a good fake relationship story. And Sully and Thea are just perfect.

What starts out as a ruse quickly turns into a friendship with a whole lot of tension brewing beneath the surface. There are rules and hard lines...but when these two tip over that line? Holy pepperoni pizza.

Thea is a total sassy badass. She says what she means and takes no crap from anyone. But underneath her tough exterior is a wounded heart afraid to take another leap. In need of a date to her brother's wedding, she further enlists Sully’s help.

Sully is quiet and soulful. He can easily read people, but Thea is a complete mystery to him. She is a puzzle. One he is inexplicably drawn to.

There is so much humor in this book. I loved seeing our favorite Slice couples back in action. But my favorite supporting character has to be Simon, the owner of Slice. That poor man has to deal with all of these grown adults and their issues, and having the absolute worst timing.

This one had me laughing out loud and getting all choked up! Definitely my favorite of the series.

Holy crap I freaking loved this book!! It's totally my favorite of this series. I laughed so many times and lost count of all the hilarious quotes I highlighted. If you want to laugh so hard you pee a little, look no further. This is definitely the book for you!

Cheesy is seriously funny but it isn't just packed full of shenanigans and witty banter. It's also full of adorable characters and awesome friendships. I freaking love Thea. She is such a sassy little badass weirdo. And don't even get me started on Sully. I'll just say that Sullivan is THE fictional character to make you fall in love with fictional characters. Thea and Sully together are #relationshipgoals and I totally imagine their future wedding vows involving hand turkey promises.

I loved loved loved all the interactions with the couples of Slice past. But Simon totally stole the show this time around! Why can't these characters be real?! I need them in my life!

I loved all of the banter in this light and sexy rom com! Teagan Hunter excels at writing dialogue, so you could feel the chemistry as these two strangers become lovers. It's a fake relationship romance where our couple takes the "getting to know you" period seriously, and it's a solid, low angst read. I finished this in one sitting and it just flew by.

The story follows Thea, a woman who has developed some insecurities because of her job. She works as a mechanic and it's become a sore spot in all of her relationships - especially with her last serious boyfriend. When Thea runs into her ex, she panics and latches on to the first guy she sees in an attempt to save face. Sully is all too happy to help out a sexy stranger, and the two soon find themselves taking the ruse up a notch. To help sell the fake relationship, Sully and Thea spend a lot of time getting to know each other, which complicates the whole situation because neither one is looking for something serious.

It's light and very low angst with plenty of humor and some steamy moments. I loved Sully, the laidback guy who soon finds himself in over his head. There's nothing groundbreaking about the storyline, but those who like fake relationship romances will definitely enjoy this one. It was easy to see the sparks flying, and it pulls the series together nicely. Though you can absolutely read this as a standalone, there are appearances from the whole crew that longtime fans will appreciate. If I have one complaint about the book it would be that it lingers on the "no feelings" sexytimes for too long rather than building up the emotional connection. That being said, I enjoyed it from start to finish and didn't want to put it down. I can't wait to see what Hunter writes next, because I can always depend on her books for banter-filled fun. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this funny fake relationship romance.

4.5 STARS!

Sweet and funny, Cheesy on the Eyes by Teagan Hunter is an adorable fake dating romantic comedy that at moments had me in tears!

Thea Schwartz is this awesome chick who is sassy, outspoken, and loves to fix cars. One night at Slice, Thea gets Sully's attention and pretends that he's her boyfriend to avoid her ex and his new girlfriend. Soon, she convinces Sully to venture into a pretend relationship with her for her brother's wedding. And this is when things get interesting, my friends.

Sullivan "Sully" Scott is charming with a killer smirk. He could read people's auras like a book. It was strange as a child and kinda frightening but he grew into it as an adult. The moment he holds Thea's hand he can't deny the pull he feels. He doesn't get close to people, so he doesn't have to talk about who his father is and what his life was like growing up.

I must admit I have yet to read the series in its entirety. However, after reading this book I will be rectifying that ASAP as I'm really curious to formerly meet the beloved secondary characters as they find their happily ever after.

Teagan Hunter has once again written a humorously witty and sexy romance! Thea and Sully were perfect for one another and I couldn't get enough of their banter!! What a great ending to a series!!

Teagan Hunter is a romcom master. Seriously. She consistently puts out books that not only make me laugh out loud, but also make me swear that I've just met my favorite MC's that she has ever written. And Cheesy on the Eyes was no exception to those feelings. Sully and Thea will go down as two of my favorite characters of all time.

While Cheesy on the Eyes might not be the most unique story I've ever read, the world that is built around the characters definitely has a magic of its own. The friendships and the setting of the story are just another example of Hunter's brilliance. She writes in a way that makes me wish I could crawl inside of her books and live there, because these characters feel real. They're hilarious and relatable. They're obnoxious in the most endearing way. And part of my soul refuses to believe that they're not real people.

I definitely recommend reading this series in order, because despite the fact that the story is a stand alone, the book ties into all of the other characters in the series. Plus, I wouldn't want you to miss out on another great love story like this one. Just have some tissues ready for the moments when you're laughing so hard that you have tears rolling down your face. Because I can promise you that it'll likely happen more than once.
