I don’t play by the rules.
Never have, never will.

The second our eyes met from across the club,
I could feel a shift in the air—an overwhelming pull drawing me in.
One mind-blowing night is all it was, or so I thought.

Repeating my senior year may not have been the plan,
But finding out my one-night stand is my new teacher—
That’s something I never saw coming.

His gaze bores into me with the same intensity.
That body, those hands, I remember every touch.
I should stay away, but I don’t want to.

This time, all bets are off.
I’ll let him think he’s in control,
Until I bring him to his knees.

Passion and fire,
Forbidden and wrong.
Like I said, I don’t play by the rules.

'THE REBEL' is the third full length forbidden romance book in Kelsey Clayton's 'Haven Grace Prep' series.

xcv

This was truly the most perfect forbidden romance read! Seductive, Sexy and Steamy, a beautiful captivating love story. It's fair to say that I inhaled this!

#DEAD!! This book right here was one I was highly anticipating! I think after we’d all been introduced to Tessa previously we wanted/needed her book, her story.

Everything was changing in Tessa's world and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it, from her twin leaving town and taking off to college, to her recent break up from her boyfriend as he too took off for college. Both leaving Tessa behind as she repeats half of her senior year.

She agrees to go out for a night on the town, a one night stand is exactly what will numb all the pain she's feeling, it's here she catches the eye of Asher. He's her perfect distraction.

103508765-266311568143141-8726741287716851371-n

That night turns out to be more than what she bargained for. It became one neither would ever forget.

Arriving at school she never expects to clap eyes on Asher again, let alone at her school. He's the newly appointed english teacher, an injured former NFL quarterback.

This author even though it’s only 3 books of hers under my belt she rapidly hit my unicorn author list! Three books in a row, all three 🙌5 star ratings 🙌This series is one of my top reads of 2020!

Nope, heroine cheats on the hero, screwing her ex and never even does him the respect of telling him.

This is seriously BS. Tessa wasn’t my favorite character from the series but I was willing to give it a chance because I loved Knox and Delaneys story. But there is no excuse for this. She cheats on Asher at the 80% mark. If you are going to have the character be a complete piece of trash at least do it in a reasonable time so we can decide whether to waste our time. And yes Tess has been through a few hard times, but I am so freaking tired of that being used as an excuse. I can confidently say that it doesn’t make you a cheater. My life reads like a horror movie, yet someone I have never acted the way she has or cheating on someone I love. She is a horrible character without class or morals. The funny thing is I have read enough of these books and reviews to know that if Asher has did this, the book would already have had an average of an entire less star. Yet no one else has called the author out on this crap. Ash did nothing to deserve it btw, NOTHING. Good lord she is a piece of crap. She also screws with Easton making home the bad guy to their friend, over her issues. He tried to be there for her. He wasn’t perfect, but he dropped everything for her. Only to also be used and spit out. I’m so tired of authors using a bad childhood to explain thus crap. I can get over a lot of it’s before they form their relationship, but there is no excuse for having it be at this point in theirs relationship, when the other person has been nothing but good to them. If they can’t be loyal at that point, they never will be. That’s narcissistic crap. Sorry but for me, a trash character is a trash character male or female. Note to author. If you aren’t capable of understanding the complexities of certain issues, then don’t use them as plot devices. Don’t use things that you don’t understand to justify your characters selfishness. It makes people who have actually been through these things in real life, extremely pissed the hell off. Looks like I found a new author to ignore.

***4,5 "CBP!!!" stars***

NOW AVAILABLE

"ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU'RE STRONGER THAN YOUR DEMONS."

Wow!!! Kelsey Clayton is impressing me more and more with each book on this series.
"Haven Grace Prep" series has become my new addiction!!!
I love the stories and the characters in here very much, and of course, Tessa's book was one of my most anticipated!!!
This wild girl had impressed me from the first moment and i was craving her story like an addict!!!

"Tessa Callahan is like a forest fire -reckless, unpredictable, and nearly impossible to manage."

Tessa's world is changing this new school year.
Her sister and all of her friends are moving on with their lives and she is forced to stay behind and to repeat half her senior year.
Tessa is not the girl that she used to be and there are reasons for that change...
She just wants to forget for a while and to put behind her nightmares that are following her around.
An one night stand with a hot guy is what she needs at the moment...
Unfortunately for her, a great surprise is waiting for her on her first day of school!!!

"Involving myself with him would lead to trouble. It's completely against the rules, and yet, I've always been the rebel. The more forbidden he is, the more I crave him."

Asher, is a famous quarterback whom, because of an injure, he is seeing his football career to abruptly ending and he is not handling it very well...
He is been forced to work as an English teacher/coach on the Haven Grace prep school and he is not very happy of how his life is turning out after all these sacrifices that he had made to become the number one player...
What he is not expecting is that his one night stand which he can't seem to forget is one of his students...

"This girl is a storm -a tornado ready to wreak havoc on anything in her path- and I'm addicted to her chaos."

As you can see, things will get complicated in here, but i liked seeing unfold this beautiful story.
Tessa deserved a man like Asher, even though there was a big age cap...
Asher's life needed the excitement and craziness that Tessa could bring to it...
These two were so opposite, but they were fitting so beautifully together...
I enjoyed very much seeing their struggles and their sexy or funny moments...
I liked how they were facing things together...

"What's stopping you? I'm right here."
"That's part of the problem! You're always right there. Always looking the way you do and tempting the shit out of me, but I can't give in, Tess. You're my student. There are rules."
"Fuck the rules."

I won't hide to you that this story wasn't only rainbows and unicorns...
Kelsey broke my heart for once again...
Our heroes, and especially Tessa had too many things to face... Ungly and hard things... Demons of the past... And the fear of their future...
Tessa was wild and unpredictable, but her pain was too much to be swept aside...
Asher was her rock, even when he had to be away from her...
Their relationship was forbidden, but it seemed so right!!!
I don't think i'll ever forget this explosive couple!!!

"I knew I had screwed up. Letting her know she gets under my skin only fed her fire, and that can't be good for me."

"He's the antidote to my pain. When I'm with him, everything fades away, but when I'm not, I drown in the misery."

Also, i loved that I saw the rest of the guys for once again...
I loved how connected they were all between them... I liked how they stood beside Tessa even from miles away...
Also, I can not wait for Lennon's story!!! I needed so badly!!!
But you know what i need the most??? I need Colby's story!!! He is a man who had won my heart from the very first moment and i want to learn more about him!!!
Seriously, guys!!! You have to read these books!!! They are a big MUST!!!

"Stop torturing yourself. She wants you, you want her. Just make sure she doesn't bite your dick. That shit hurts." -Colby

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

Kelsey Clayton knows how to write a gem of a book. This is the third book that I have read by this author and I am just as over the moon with this one as I was with the first two.

Clayton has a writing style that just puts a smile on your face. At this point, I know that when I pick up one of her books that I am going to get quality writing. Her narration is smooth and homey without being bland or boring. She has a knack for making the reader care immensely about the story that is unfolding and making the reader fall in love with the characters. The plots in her stories are always clever and unexpected. I love the way that she keeps me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.

After reading the other books in this series, I knew that Tessa Callahan was a character that was going to mean a lot to me. She was so sassy and rebellious and I fell in love with her immediately. Her character was full of so much depth. She had so much trauma in her life that she was running from. Her journey wasn't an easy one but it was one that was totally worth it in the end. Asher was a character that was also easy to fall for. He was also a character that was coping with the bad hand that life had dealt him. Both Tessa and Asher were resilient characters that complimented each other well. I loved seeing all of my favorite characters from the first two books in this series and I fell in love with a new one in this book. I love how the secondary characters balance out the story.

As I said above, Asher and Tessa were characters that really complimented each other so much. There was a ten year age gap between them but it never really had much of an impact on their relationship, apart from the teacher and student aspect. Their chemistry was immediate and undeniable. It was so explosive and meaningful. When push came to shove, Asher wasn't afraid to show how much Tessa meant to him. Regardless of what it did to his career or reputation. I loved the comfort that they shared with one another and the dedication they had for one another.

Overall, this is a book that will take you by surprise and hit you hard in the feels when you least expect it. Some parts of this story are raw and gritty and they pack an emotional punch. Kelsey Clayton is a new unicorn author for me. Every book is just such a masterpiece. I am so enamored by this author and I cannot wait to read what comes next!

Ok, I Must share with you that when I finished this amazing book I slid my finger at least twenty times to go to the next page... And unfortunately, there wasn't anymore. 😭
A lot of people who know me, Know that when I'm addicted to something, it's hard for me to let go and I just don't leave it. Honestly, I dragged the reading because I didn't want this book to end. I've been waiting for him for a long time. And my relationship with the author started already from the first book. 🤣 Sorry Kelsey ... but you are too good !!!!!
The story was very beautiful. It was magical. As one who loves the whole ‘Independence' and ‘be who you are because this is your life' theme ,It is exactly what the female character, Tessa represent in this story. I was very proud of the path she took, In her honest way. Not looking for 'how?' or ‘Why?'. She just does what she thinks is right at the moment. And these are the things I like to read about: courage and heroism.💪🏽💪🏽

🔥 "𝔗𝔢𝔰𝔰𝔞 ℭ𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔞𝔥𝔞𝔫 𝔦𝔰 𝔩𝔦𝔨𝔢 𝔞 𝔣𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔰𝔱 𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢— 𝔯𝔢𝔠𝔨𝔩𝔢𝔰𝔰, 𝔲𝔫𝔭𝔯𝔢𝔡𝔦𝔠𝔱𝔞𝔟𝔩𝔢, 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔫𝔢𝔞𝔯𝔩𝔶 𝔦𝔪𝔭𝔬𝔰𝔰𝔦𝔟𝔩𝔢 𝔱𝔬 𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔞𝔤𝔢." 🔥

Tessa, is the Callahan family's second twin. She is the more free, courageous, and mostly rebellious twin. And the girl who doesn't care what others thinks about her. She finds herself going to high school again for another year while all her friends move on to college to fulfill their future. 🙃

In the previous books we got her image pretty much. And I thought for a moment ... that I knew which way her character was a going But, as I always say, there's nothing like experiencing it and feeling the story yourself. Because, I was wrong. She is much stronger than I thought. Wow, I fell in love with her badly! 😱👑

👑 "𝔅𝔲𝔱 ℑ'𝔳𝔢 𝔪𝔞𝔡𝔢 𝔦𝔱 𝔞 𝔯𝔲𝔩𝔢 𝔫𝔬𝔱 𝔱𝔬 𝔩𝔢𝔱 𝔞𝔫𝔶𝔬𝔫𝔢 𝔤𝔢𝔱 𝔠𝔩𝔬𝔰𝔢 𝔢𝔫𝔬𝔲𝔤𝔥 𝔱𝔬 𝔥𝔲𝔯𝔱 𝔪𝔢. ℑ𝔱'𝔰 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔟𝔢𝔰𝔱 𝔴𝔞𝔶 ℑ 𝔨𝔫𝔬𝔴 𝔱𝔬 𝔰𝔱𝔞𝔶 𝔲𝔫𝔟𝔯𝔬𝔨𝔢𝔫. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔰𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔩𝔢 𝔱𝔢𝔞𝔯 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔰𝔩𝔦𝔡𝔢𝔰 𝔡𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔠𝔥𝔢𝔢𝔨 𝔦𝔰 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔬𝔫𝔩𝔶 𝔬𝔫𝔢 ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔬𝔴 𝔪𝔶𝔰𝔢𝔩𝔣 𝔱𝔬 𝔰𝔥𝔢𝔡 . " 👑

Tessa has no rules. And even if there are. She believes they were meant for her to break them. After she finds herself in a club and sees the blonde man with the blue eyes. She marks him as her next target.. The next day, she returns to graduate school. And finds out that the man she slept with is none other than ... her teacher 😃😱

Meet ... Asher. The strudy 28-year-old man that every girl who admires football knows about.
Although he was in the NFL team, he dropped out due to his personal reasons.
Which, though, seems to be the strong, serious type. But, he is actually the hugging, loving and caring man. The right person to put a head on. Until .... the bed

👨🏼‍🏫 "ℌ𝔬𝔩𝔶 𝔰𝔥𝔦𝔱. 𝔄𝔰𝔥𝔢𝔯 ℌ𝔞𝔴𝔱𝔥𝔬𝔯𝔫𝔢, 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔬𝔫𝔢-𝔫𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱 𝔰𝔱𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔴𝔥𝔬 𝔴𝔦𝔩𝔩 𝔤𝔬 𝔡𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔦𝔫 𝔥𝔦𝔰𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔶 𝔞𝔰 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔟𝔢𝔰𝔱 𝔰𝔢𝔵 𝔬𝔣 𝔪𝔶 𝔩𝔦𝔣𝔢, 𝔦𝔰 𝔪𝔶 𝔫𝔢𝔴 𝔈𝔫𝔤𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔥 𝔱𝔢𝔞𝔠𝔥𝔢𝔯." 👨🏼‍🏫

Personally, Tessa made me love the book more than he did. I only connected with his character after 50% of the book. Still, he took up the stage and his appropriate place in the book. Their relationship was simply outstanding. Insanely sexy. Fiery. And even addictive. 😏 But, when the walls surrounding both of them begin to fall. Will they really find themselves in the same situation? Will they let their love win? Or maybe the people who talk about their forbidden romance between teacher and student will ruin What they started to build?

In conclusion ,I really liked this book. He made me laugh and touched me. The writer's writing gets better with every passing moment and Each row. I felt like I was getting a bombed in the face and I just stayed ... speechless. 🤐 This story has a huge message. And I took it for myself, and I love when a book is trying to convey a message. And the message is ... 'Always remember that you are stronger than your demons. Dear Kelsey. Thanks for making me fall in love with Tessa and Asher. This crazy crazy psychic couple. My Kindle almost was burn! 🔥🔥 And I am so eagerly waiting for the next book in the series! 🖤

I’m just a girl who’s blown away ... yet again ... by Kelsey Clayton’s words with another story that rocked my world. I can’t love The Haven Prep series enough! The Rebel is the perfect title for Tessa’s story: fierce, forbidden, fire-hot and full of feels. The Rebel hijacked my heart and struck my soul with a force I never saw coming, an unexpected story that’s so much more than a student-teacher romance, one of strength and survival with an emotional storm that made me feel everything. I couldn’t get enough hits of this heady delight. Pure heart-pounding addiction.

It’s been years since I’ve read a teacher-student romance, and The Rebel is my new favorite. The Rebel features a stunning spitfire of a heroine and the strong, alpha of a hero who saves her. The teacher and student. The rebel and player. Characters with chemistry that is off the charts hot. Tessa and Ashers’ story is a hard-fought journey of strength and survival that’s woven in love. I loved how this hero and heroine took each other’s broken parts and pieced them together until they were whole.

The more forbidden he is, the more I crave him.

Kelsey Clayton gives an authentic and awe-inspiring voice to a hero and heroine, who, together, slay demons as they become one. The Rebel is as soulful as it is smoldering, a journey of flying after falling, a story of love and a second chance at life. A beautifully broken blend of heat, hope, heart, and healing that’s so smartly written, a story I felt to the depths of my soul.

”We’re playing with fire.”

If I could sum up this romance, it would be this line from The Rebel that inspires and makes you feel, just like this story:

”You are bigger than the things that happen to you.”

This is my first book by Kelsey Clayton and definitely not my last! I will definitely be going back and reading the first 2 books in this series.

I have a secret love for student/teacher romances and Kelsey Clayton killed this one.

It’s forbidden, sexy, enthralling and captivating!

The rebel is full of angst and I was sat on the edge of my seat rooting for Tessa and Asher! I needed everything to be ok, but no love story worth reading is ever easy and the Rebel wasn’t either.

Please note that there maybe some triggers for some people in this story as the characters have been through a lot!

An age gap, forbidden, student/teacher romance that will lead you into the dark before helping you find the light! A must read!!

‘𝑵𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒗𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒄𝒖𝒏 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒊 𝒆 𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒐 𝒍’𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒊 𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂. 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝑨𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆̀ 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐 𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒎𝒊𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒍’𝒉𝒂 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒂 𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒆, 𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒎𝒊 𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒊 𝒈𝒍𝒊 𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒓𝒊, 𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒔’𝒆̀ 𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒐 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒍’𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆.’

Living Their Dreams

5 Stars for this super sexy, emotionally charged, forbidden romance!!! This couple stole my heart! The author brings us a girl struggling with moving on from past pain and a man who lost his dream but is trying to start over. Together they’ll find a future where they both get their dream.

Tessa is struggling with a break up, plus her twin sister’s leaving for college. A night out at a club to forget is just what she needs. When she spots him across the bar, she realizes he’ll be the perfect distraction.

A one night stand that goes down as the hottest night of her life. It was exactly what she needed, even though she’ll never see him again. Such a shame since now he’s the star of all her late night fantasies.

Now Tessa is ready to start her senior year for the second time and get it over with. What she doesn’t expect is her new English teacher, Asher Hawthorne, former NFL quarterback. A career ending injury led him down a new path. He’s coaching football at Haven Grace Prep and he’s her new English teacher.

Asher hasn’t been able to forget that night. He never expected to walk into his new classroom and see Tessa. Staying away may just be the hardest thing he has ever done. He won’t cross that line, but Tessa has no problem obliterating it.

This story was very emotional. Tessa carries so much pain. Asher will be exactly what she needs. Their chemistry is just incredibly HOTTTT! While they struggle with wanting to be together, they form a relationship of love and mutial respect. It started out as just an attraction, but Asher became the man that would love and protect her no matter what.

Forbidden romance is an all time favorite trope to read and this one delivered! Each new couple the author writes, becomes a favorite. Tessa and Asher were no exception. I absolutely fell in love with them. This was an emotional story of healing and love. Throw in some amazing side characters, the past two couples and this story was perfect. It is so much more than just a taboo romance. It’s about healing and unconditional love. My favorite of the series to date.

2.5 Stars. This was an OK entry into the series but it was really thin on believable plot and high school reality. I frankly, I saw no reason why Asher was so instantly obsessed with Tessa. I didn't find the sex scenes all that erotic and the book felt like it took me a long time to read.

Tessa certainly had her share of trauma and I'm glad that her pain was addressed. I checked my disbelief at the door early (honestly, the whole "substitute teacher/coach*" issue in a high school football program was so, so unrealistic that I really had to do it early) and then continued to check it but it didn't stop me from rolling my eyes and noticing that I had to keep doing it consciously. Throwing Easton under the bus the way the author did wasn't cool either.

I might have given this a bit more of a higher rating but the ending with the dad was so pollyanna bad that I can't do it. The epilogues weren't much better but at least they were (unrealistically) hopeful.

*High School football is a HUGE thing. Football practice starts mid summer way before school starts and any change in a coach is BIG NEWS and if it was going to suddenly be a HOT, former famous NFL Quarterback that would be even bigger news. The whole city nation would know within minutes, games would sell out, press would overrun the town. There is just no reality where Tessa wouldn't know Asher was going to be at her school before she got there. Also, the amount of time coaching and teaching suck up would have Asher busier than he was. During football season if a Coach has even one full day off, it's a bye week. They also travel to away games and have a lot of other coaches and organizing to deal with. No coaching job happens in a vacuum without plenty of other coaches/staff milling around and needing answers, etc. I'm not even going to pile on about the time suck that is teaching HS English at a fancy prep school where the highest standards for educational excellence and pressure for good grades from parents/students is limitless. Next, a 30 year old hot famous former NFL quarterback and his current playing NFL teammate/friend can't walk into a frat party and be in anyway anonymous or ignored. (I'm not going to get into how Colby could be around as much as he was during PRO football season) Asher and Colby would be on social media from minute one until he left with his underage "student" in his arms. All on video. What was really dumb was that he didn't need to do that coaching job. He didn't like it. He felt railroaded and resented the job. (I felt like he was really a weak character when he let them push him into that job for no good reason) He is an NFL gazillionaire. He was supposed to be getting in shape for a comeback which he had no time or inclination to do after he met Tessa. At no time was he not able to just say "no thanks, I don't want this job" and walk away taking the student/teacher issue away with him. Their are a bunch more areas that I had to just go with the flow but it was impossible to overlook them all and feel like I was immersed in a well told story.

The Rebel is the third book of the Haven Grace Prep series and comes to bring Tessa's story a character who always caught my eye on the course of the show. And her book leaves nothing to desire brings a great and endearing story that has caught my attention from beginning to end. Here we have a story of forbidden romance between student and teacher, but history is much more than that, a story that tells about friendship and overcoming.

Tessa was my favorite character in the book, and I loved her growth during the book and how she managed to show herself a strong, vulnerable character at the same time. Your growth and overcome in the book was one of my favorite parts of reading. And Asher was another great character, and I loved it and laughed at her friendship with Colby and I also really enjoyed showing her sweet, protective side when it came to Tessa. Both of you were sweet and warm to read.

Only thing that bothered me a little here was the reappearment of a certain character and a story that had already been resolved to reappear. I even understand that your return revealed some revelations that have triggered events in the book, but personally I would have liked that history had had these revelations without bringing back this character.

Tessa and Asher story is great, and I'm already curious about Lennon's story.

This is a fantastic series by an author I've recently discovered that will keep you on the edge of your seat and continually guessing on what on earth will happen next. Let's just say I've been eagerly awaiting The Rebel...

Even by the first few pages I'm instantly grinning from being back in this world. There's not a lot of detail I can tell you about the male counterpart of this story since it has been a closely guarded secret, but let me just say Tessa's sass is out in full force so whoever it is, is kept well and truly on his toes.

This book kept me up to the wee hours until I had finished the last page, seriously every book gets better and better. You do not want to miss out. You'll be sent on a rollercoaster of emotions that will stick with you for a long time to come.

HOLY MOLY. Kelsey Clayton has delivered another addictive addition to her Haven Grace prep series with this age gap, forbidden romance. But the Rebel is so much more than this trope- this story is heartbreaking at times, sweet and soulful, and beautifully emotionally complex. The character journeys are riveting and the emotional connections captivating. Tessa's story exceeded all my expectations. Cancel your plans- you’ll want to read this in one sitting!

TESSA. MY OH MY, TESSA. She's a FORCE. Bookfriend? Who needs a book boyfriend? I have my new book girlfriend! I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure I would love her- we had the spunky dynamo in the other books- the ballbusting, explosive side character who fought for her sister, but what we didn’t see was the dynamic, heartfelt, nuanced and gentle soul underneath all that bravado. I don’t just love Tessa, I FLOVE Tessa. Tessa is truly a revelation- everything you want in a book heroine. I loved her spunk- her sassy confidence, take no prisoners personality. But, what I loved even more was the beautiful, complex heart beating beneath that rule-breaking veneer. Tessa has demons- she’s suffering, both because of her history but also because of the trauma she experienced in our last book. She was surprisingly complex, achingly vulnerable, trapped in her own hurt, craving love and acceptance. I loved how unabashedly Kelsey let us see inside her soul- it was surprising and unexpected how that played out, but emotionally gripping. Tessa’s character journey is the strongest in this series, masterfully woven. I loved every high and low of her story, loved how Tessa proves that we can indeed be stronger than our demons- and that sometimes strength is about allowing yourself to be weak and lean on others.

And Asher is just dreamy. He’s got some of that dirty talking, bad boy flare, but he’s a sweetie at his core. He’s got integrity, drive, and he’s dedicated- when he loves something, he gives it his all. He’s slow to open up given his own wounds, but once we see his heart, it's blindingly beautiful. His actions at the end- his compassion and depth and unconditional acceptance of Tessa is really quite moving. He’s steady, a more quiet character journey than Tessa’s, but no less delightful.

Their chemistry BURNED up my pages. From their first meeting to their last page, heart and heat. I won’t spoil what makes their relationship taboo- but it is more than the age gap. This taboo creates a delicious push-pull tension- they both want each other, but both have much to lose, especially Asher. Given that Tessa is a bit of an older soul and Asher’s challenges, the maturity difference isn’t much of an issue The steam was yummy as always, and Kelsey always does such a great job of building the emotional connection between characters. These two have such fun and humorous banter and have such fun, but we also get a carefully constructed emotional bond that is heart-poundingly magnetic. They bring out the best in each other, even though they have to break all the rules to get there.

This series just gets better and better! Kelsey continues to wow me with her ability to create a rich deck of colorful, interesting, dynamic, and loveable characters- we get to see some of our old favorites and get to spend time with some newer stars. Colby in particular was a scene stealer- I love this guy, and I hope we get to see his story. I’m also loving the evolution of Lennon, and I’m secretly hoping Zayn gets his due as well. Kelsey’s characters just jump off the page and grab you- her storytelling is so well crafted that you feel intimately connected to each of them, invested from the first page to the last. You live and breathe their journey. That’s what makes her one of my favs.

Narratively, I also thought this was Kelsey’s most tightly woven tale yet. I’ve loved our other stories, where the romance is the focus but you also have a dash of some external danger/drama. Here, the focus is solely the romance, though- the dynamic relationship of these two characters and their individual emotional stories as they confront their own demons, their own fears. And, it really pays off emotionally- we don’t just dip our toe into the connection and psyche of these two beautiful souls, we dive down deep- swim around in their pain, their joy, their hurt and hope.

There are twists, a lot of unexpected turns, and an emotional punch at the end that will squeeze your heart and steal your breath. The surprisingly gritty, emotionally intense moments made this story that much more rich, more impactful. You will not be disappointed by Tessa’s story! I can’t wait for more of this series!

(PS- this can be read as a standalone, but a) the whole series is awesome so read it and b) Tessa’s story really is impacted by the events of book 2, so I’d recommend at least reading that. Plus, Laney and Knox = GOAT)

***5 MR. OFF-LIMITS AND REBEL STARS***

I swear, this series just keeps better and better! No joke, I’m starting to develop an addiction to Kelsey’s characters.

The Rebel is book #3 of the Haven Grace Prep series, and although this can be read as a standalone, it is best read after The Sinner (book #1, Grayson and Savannah’s story) and The Saint (book #2, Knox and Delany’s story).

A forbidden romance between the troublemaker and the off-limits quarterback-turned-teacher. Tons of delicious sexual tension. Off the charts chemistry. GAH, I was in new adult heaven!

Tessa “Tess” Callahan is feisty, sassy, and has a penchant for attracting trouble. A traumatic encounter has her questioning her family, her future… her life. Asher “Ash” Hawthorne is sexy, swoony… and guarded. An injury forces him out of his NFL quarterback position before he finds himself as Haven Grace Prep’s new coach and English teacher. What should have been a one-night stand between two strangers turns into so much more.

I loved everything about this book: the romance, the storyline, the secondary characters... I’m just glad there’s another book to look forward to in this series, I don’t want it to end. Ever.

The Rebel by Kelsey Clayton is book three in the Haven Grace Prep Series. Each book follows a new couple. This book just happens to be Tessa’s and Asher’s book. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading this series from the beginning.

The moment that I met Tessa in book one I was absolutely taken away with her spit fire attitude and give zero fucks and got zero chill in me vibe that was happening. As the books went on, we discovered little snippets of Tessa that made you want to know more.

When I found out that she was getting a book, I was absolutely so keen for it. From the moment that I started this book I could not put it down. It had woken something inside of me. It was like venturing inside the rabbit hole but not being able to make your way back up. It gripped me by my bloody core and pulled all the punches. I felt everything that these characters went through especially Tessa, she was the one that went through the most.

I was so glad to be back into this world of characters, because I dearly missed them. I swear this author just keeps getting better and better with the books that she releases. One thing with this book is that it’s an epic roller coaster ride of emotions, and it’s definitely a book that is going to stick with me for quite some time.

Tessa is the definition of a strong heroine, she is everything that I love reading in books. I am all about that female empowerment and feminist. Tessa oozes that.
“Tessa Callahan is like a forest fire—reckless, unpredictable, and nearly impossible to manage.”

Tessa is like a storm, a tornado that is ready to wreck havoc on anything in her path. This girl always has this strong and sassy attitude but in the book, this author pulls back this character to her very core. We see sides to her that we didn’t know existed. Deep down, Tessa has demons that are living inside her and are threatening to come out and cause her to explode. Tessa is suffering from not only her childhood but from the trauma she was faced with in the previous book. She was this shield of person who was just barely surviving, trapped in her own mind, living through nightmares and was desperately seeking love and acceptance. Tessa’s character journey was one of the bests that I have seen written, as much as we see all the highs, I loved watching the unfolding of the lows and how Tessa has overcome those demons with the help from her family/friends but more importantly herself. Tessa is a strong, determined and incredible women but more importantly she is a SURVIVOR.

“Always remember you’re stronger than your demons.”

The hero in this story was everything that I expected but didn’t expect at the same time. From the moment I met this Hero, being Asher. I knew that he was created and made for Tessa in a way that made them soulmates but also a person that she needed. Asher is just straight up fire, he is very different to Grayson and Knox in the aspect of him being the nicest. Asher is the type of character that when he loves, he loves with his whole entire being. Asher has been through a lot career wise and personally. Although that’s for you to find out exactly what. He was slow to open up besides everything but when he did boy was I ready for it. It was like he just said fuck it and went for it. Man, do I love a guy that takes charge like that. One thing I didn’t expect with Asher was his dirty mouth. I was living for it and couldn’t get enough of it.

The chemistry that these two have is explosive, it was a build up of epic proportions and I was just waiting for it to go up in flames. When it did, I was ready for it. The emotional connection that these two had was something I loved above everything. As much as characters can have the physical what’s a relationship with the emotional. I loved the push and pull that was happening between these characters, the quest to break all the rules. Although their banter was something that made me laugh on several occasions. These two connected on another level and it just bled through the pages. You would have to be crazy not to see how much these characters meant to one another.

It wouldn’t be a book without its twist and turns, each of them completely unexpected but the twist towards the end was an emotional punch in the guts. It will squeeze your heart out until it’s dripping blood onto the floor. I was completely floored and surprised by all that was happening that I had to stop and breathe and think it’s all part of the journey.

I am not going to go into what happens in this book as I feel like this a book that you should venture into not knowing what to expect. I just had to express my thoughts on how much I loved the characters and their development. There is so much to this book, that I just know you all are going to love.

This book is definitely more on the emotional side of things. This author tackled some serious subjects in a way that was written perfectly. This is a book that will leave an everlasting impact on your heart. Tessa and Asher will forever be in mine.

All you forbidden/taboo/ student/teacher lovers out there, this book is going to be for you. This a book you need in your life and in your hands.

Tessa's hot one night stand was to stay in her memory as one night, until she walked into meet her new teacher...

Asher's taken a job he doesn't really want as a teacher when an injury forces him off the field and into the classroom. The last person he expected to see in his classroom is his hot one night stand...

Can these two maintain a forbidden relationship, even knowing what they both have to lose if they're found out?

This series really took a turn with Tessa and Asher's story. Before it was what's fairly typical in high school bully romances but with this one it's turned into something a bit more adult and edgy. Student teacher relationships are always forbidden, always delicious because of the taboo nature, but what I liked about this story is that it's not just delicious, there are real themes at play, subjects not always present in forbidden relationships, and that's where Tessa and Asher's story shines. This is by far my favorite of the Haven Grace world.

The Rebel is a teacher/student romance, with the forbidden and taboo aspects that I love so much. Sometimes teacher/student romances can be either a hit or a miss, but Kelsey created the perfect combination of the forbidden angle and a beautiful romance, without leaving the reader feeling queasy. I never felt like there was sleaziness, manipulation or anything off putting with the relationship between Asher and Tessa. The secondary characters were amazing, and I loved their dynamic as a group.

God, my heart broke for Tessa and her past trauma and the tragedy she endured. She was an expert in putting up a mask and concealing her true feelings and emotions but bottling them up was the worst and best thing she could do. She was a survivor, strong, brave, sassy, reckless, shameless and wild like a hurricane. I definitely shed a few tears when everything became too much for her, but what really got the old tear ducts leaking was the love and support of her family, friends and especially Asher. I personally LOVED Tessa. I loved everything about her character.

Asher freaking Hawthorne! You cannot help but fall head over heels with his thoughtful, playful, loving and caring personality, but also his demanding and possessive side either. *Fans self* Seriously, where can I get an Asher Hawthorn from?! He tried to resist his reactions and feelings towards Tessa and do the right thing as per his career and his morals were telling him but the magnetizing pull he felt was just too strong. I loved his tenderness and the support he shows Tessa and how he stands up for their relationship when she needs it most.

This is the first novel I have read by Kelsey and I can guarantee you it won’t be my last. Although The Rebel is the third book in the Haven Grace Prep series, I never felt confused or like I was missing anything without reading the prior books. The back stories had plenty of explanations of the past and in my opinion, this can be read as a standalone. In saying that, I loved this book so much I will definitely be going back to read books one and two. I also cannot wait to read the fourth book and fingers crossed its Lennon’s story. I easily gave this book 5 stars and highly recommend it!

Triggers; sexual assault, rape, alcohol and substance abuse.

Tessa has a one night stand with a super hot man. However, she walks into her high school English class one day to find her one night stand to be her new teacher. Both of them have a very hard time keeping a distance from each other. Their chemistry is unlike anything they have experienced before. This starts a forbidden relationship that is very hot and steamy.

Tessa has a dark past and walls that need to come down. Asher helps bring down those walls. The mental health representation in this novel was beautifully done. There were parts in The Rebel that I could not put down.

Asher's best friend Colby was by far my favorite character of the book. I did not even know this was a series until I went to the books Goodread's page. However, you can totally read this book as a standalone and it will still make sense. I guess the whole series is based on different characters within the series and their love stories. So, each one can be read individually.

I love the author's writing style and vivid descriptions. The two characters have some of the hottest chemistry that I have read in awhile. I loved how this story panned out and ended. The only thing that did not stand right with me was cheating aspects. Everything was so good until cheating came into play. I do not want to spoil the story so I will not delve deeper into it but why did that have to be included in the plot?

The book deals with some pretty heavy topics for being a romance novel... so trigger warning! I was not expecting that amount of drama. The Rebel is one emotional book. In the future, I will for sure be picking up more of Clayton's books. I always love a good feisty heroine.

This book deserves ALL the stars!!!! Every. Single. One!! Kelsey Clayton once again wows me with this emotional rollercoaster of a story!

First we have Tessa Callahan. I swear this girl was made for me. She is my spirit animal. She’s strong, sassy, a true survivor. The things she’s endured and survived will break your heart. And don’t get me started on her personality...she can make straight girls question their sexuality. I love how Kelsey brings us a female lead that fights for her man from the beginning. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy reading an alpha man fight for his woman but it’s refreshing to read where the girl fights and takes what she wants!
Now on to Asher. That man will dislocate your jaw from dropping to the floor. He is all man!! Possessive, protective, loving, and sexy as mess! I connected with him because like him, his dad was his rock. To get him where he is. I felt that deep because that’s my dad to me. Down to the part where he was my coach in sports too. Asher is so possessive of Tessa you just can’t help but swoon. And swoon. I. Did!!! My heart melted so much.
I also loved seeing the couples from the previous two books! I love all their banter together and how close they are. It’s admirable seeing how far they would go for those they love.
This book hit me hard in some spots because I’ve felt what Tessa felt. I struggled with what she struggled with for awhile. Kelsey Clayton really pulls you in to this amazing story and makes you feel everything her characters feel. It’s crazy just how much emotion she can pull from your soul.
I can easily say The Rebel is gonna stick with me for awhile! Absolute perfection once again!!!

Li fa vincere.
