One Last Verse: An Age Gap Rockstar Romance (The Encore Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 502 ratings

Promises will be broken. Love will be tested.

Cassy Evans knows a thing or two about secrets. By juggling work and a hidden relationship with the world’s biggest rock star for months, she’s become an expert.

However, being with Frank comes at a price. Seven years after the accident that almost ended everything, his trauma still haunts him. Determined to get back on stage, the man known to the world as Frankie Blade would do anything to ensure the success of his band’s reunion. But when one rash decision puts his entire career on the line, it’s not clear if he can recover from it.

As Frank spirals out of control, pushing Cassy away, she has to face the reality of what they’ve become. He’s harder to love than she imagined. Her common sense tells her severing all ties with him is the right choice.

Problem is, she can’t leave without her heart. And Frank doesn’t want to give it back.

One Last Verse is the conclusion of Frankie and Cassy’s story. It should be read after Final Serenade.

An epic romance, but also so much more.

An epic romance, but also so much more.
I had to stew on this one for a bit. NN Britt has this way of writing that turns me on, breaks my heart, and leaves me deep in thought. One Last Verse gets 6 stars from me, leaving the Duet at 5.5ish. If you like raw, gritty, *real* rockstar romance, you need to check this out. The second half of Cassy and Frankie’s story had me reeling, full of emotion and clutching my chest, because it was so much more than a love story. NN Britt’s intimate knowledge of the music industry was evident in this duet, and I could literally feel her anger, disappointment, frustration, and unending love for the rock and roll scene in every word of One Last Verse. This duet is more than a romance; it’s a love letter to rock and roll. The Encore Duet made me fall in love with a fictional band, I felt real empathy over their struggles, and my pain and excitement for these characters is unmatched with anything else I’ve ever read. Their agony was my agony, and their triumph was my triumph. And not only did I fall for Cassy and Frankie, the secondary characters stole my heart as well, and I was fully invested in Isabella’s side story. In short, I freakin loved this book. For as much as it put me through, it was brilliant. Another chart topper for NN Britt, and I’m already salivating over the thought of what she has to come.

Really enjoyed Frank and Cassy's story. These books give you an eye opener into the crazy world of rock stars and how over the years the alcohol, drugs and nonstop parties can ruin a stars life. So happy Frank finally gets the help he needs to stay sober and realizes what a wonderful life he has with Cassy in it. Looking forward to reading more about Dante n the next book in the Encore series.

I was all in after book one, and now that I have finished the second book, I'm not sure how I feel. The storyline has some bumps in it that can be disturbing and even triggers, yet I have high hopes that this couple will have a truly great future. Overall, incredibly well-written, well-crafted characters, and a compelling storyline make this a winner.

Why do I love tortured, broken leading men in my romance books so much? They intrigue me, wrap me in their sorrow and drama, making me hope someone, someday will find them worthy of loving forever! This duet's One Last Verse is Frankie Blade- struggling, fighting to push himself to the limit as he tries to mold himself back into the same familiar skin he was living in so many years ago. Wanted but feared his place in the spotlight as the epitome of a confident front man of his legendary band. Under it all, he is pieced together like a jagged puzzle, in constant pain physically and mentally. Frank is unable to come to terms with his new reality- life might not be as it was before his vicious motorcycle accident and it's killing him inside.

Intelligent, beautiful Cassie is Frank's voice of reason...she has idolized him, loves him but is noticing all the cracks forming at the edges of his world. She's goodness and light as he is her dark dream which is turning into a nightmare. Cassie is losing herself and Frank is just lost.

Keep you box of tissues handy while reading their complicated story that will gut your heart and lift you up all in one book. I wondered as I took in those conflicting thoughts and emotions, spilling out all over the place- was I going to like the ending of this book or get thrown for a big old loop?

Well, let me tell you how poignant, introspective and just plain tissue worthy I thought their story turned out to be. I came to a place towards the end where I was just as taken back right along with Cassie. I read and reread those pages multiple times to absorb every lovely detail because it was just that amazing to me. I am really loving the writing style of N.N. Britt and I will be reading whatever I find from her in the future.

I was dying to get my hands on this conclusion, no matter how much it might rock my world. Either way, I was more than ready to find out if Cassie and Frank could ever fit their pieces together long enough to find forever.

I loved this 2 book set I expected the same ol rock star meets quiet shy girl and was very pleasantly surprised! This book is well written and well rounded and this may sound cliche but here goes, I laughed I cried and got heated up … this duet book set has it all!

I sat on the edge of my seat for the most part. I was appalled at Frank’s behavior, and I am not making excuses for him, but his demons were stronger than his will. It was sad and hard to watch as he spiraled, and to witness Cassy’s predicament was heartbreaking. Lots of emotions and angst made this book a standout for me. I am a huge NN Britt fan and can’t wait for the next book up with Dant’s story..

Yes! This sequel had it all. Angst, heartbreak, sex and love. The characters got the room they needed and shined. Cassie and Frank. Phew. What a story. It was intense and so damn emotional. Frank lost so much in One Last Verse and the effect it had on him and on his and Cassie’s relationship was devastating. Cassie was Frank’s support, his rock but she also lost a lot because of his abuse and reckless behavior. It was uncomfortable and difficult to read at times but only because the author captured that despair and depression with a rawness that couldn’t help but affect me.
One Last Verse was a roller coaster ride of emotions and a fabulous rockstar romance. The author knows her stuff when it comes to this genre. The atmosphere was spot on. I was at a concert. I witnessed scandalous behavior. It was very authentic and also why I enjoyed this book but first and foremost I enjoyed the characters.
In the previous book I needed depth and chemistry and here I got it. In spades! I felt and connected with the characters. Cassie and Frank was an amazing couple and their road to a HEA was so worth it.
Now I’m hoping for a Dante book cause after what he went through he surely needs it. I need it!

This one picks up just as serenade finishes. This story has all the feels you may want to slam the book shut or drop your kindle, Kobe, iPad but you will be hooked from page one! The intricacies of relationships between regular people are hard but when you factor in fame and fortune. The paparazzi along with depression, illness and a number of other complications things can get messy. This story was beautifully written and handled the sensitive subject matter very well. I will miss this couple and soo hope to see more from them in future books

This was a good conclusion but I would have liked to have had Frank's POV of things and then maybe I could have had a better understanding and more empathy from where he was coming from. He reminded me of a child who wouldn't let anyone else play with his toy, ie (it's my band and no one else is going to sing my songs) I got a little fed up with his tantrums. his drunken episodes did grate on my nerves a bit and I felt sorry for Cassy for what he put her through. I would like to read a story on Dante he had his demons but he came good for Frank in the end and didn't turn out to be the villain of the story I thought he was.
