Gerry Bruno has led innovation in the pre-clearance sector with Canada/US border agencies for many years. He has played major roles in the development of NEXUS and other customs clearance initiatives, many of which originated at our own Vancouver International Airport.
Gerry leads a group of 60 bi-national organizations who form the Future Borders Coalition whose mandate is to advance efficiency and security of the Canada/US border.
Ten working groups have been focusing on the game-changers in technology that will form the building blocks for the evolution of border management. Examples include mobile smartphone apps, drone networks, next-generation biometrics.
Today, as the world tries to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, and the Canada/US border remains virtually closed, the Coalition will play a key role in shaping the border policies of both nations. The Coalition has recently established a Border Recovery Working Group to address the short and longer term implications of the pandemic on the world's longest undefended border.
