'AGGRO' Is a full length suspenseful, forbidden romance novel by authors Coralee June and Carrie Gray.

This book was a pleasant surprise, I didn’t expect to be pulled into the nitty gritty murder of her best friend, I didn’t expect the twists and turns that popped out of nowhere, and I didn’t expect to inhale this one as quick as I did.

Their relationships were messy
Guilt, friendship, love

Being a cover whore I went into this thinking that the main focus would be on the hero as that is what the cover is making us believe, but this is the heroine's story, and how she deals with losing her best friend, and her relationships with the two special boys in her life.

We get a front row seat into the intricate emotional mystery surrounding one island girls death and the three people who were tethered to her that are left spiralling in her wake as they try and make sense of what happened to her, try and connect the dots and uncover her murderer, grief bonding them as they seek answers. We see each of these characters floundering each shouldering guilt as they push through their grief wanting justice to prevail for Violet.

Breeze is the girl who hid in the shadows, shy, beautiful and is best friends with vivacious outgoing Violet. Their friendship never made sense. One the life of the party the other a wallflower. Breeze had always had a crush on Chase, Violet's twin brother which spans many years but has never acted on it. Violet is in a toxic relationship with Kai, they were always making up and breaking up. Kai was what the islander's termed an Aggro, an aggressive surfer out on the waves taking chances where many others wouldn't.

This was a gripping, emotional story centered around lies and deceit, murder and mayhem, sadness and grief, but under all that darkness a beautiful natural relationship started taking form. Twists and turns, and a heart stopping ending had me begging for more.

Grief. Nothing is predictable about grief. Intimately unique, a kaleidoscope of evolving emotions. Distinctive, yet also universal. The pain of loss somehow binds us all- the shared experience with the others who loved. This is the theme that brings Aggro to life- the story of people who shared the love of a murdered girl and the complex, twisted spiral that is their grief. Aggro is not at all what you think it’s going to be- it’s so much more. Gripping, emotionally resonant, achingly beautiful. This is a touching, bittersweet, and beautiful exploration of the impact of grief, loss, and love. Beautifully crafted, tenderly told. Emotional and moving. It is so fresh, so bold. I am obsessed with this book.

Don’t worry- we’ve got all the things you love about a CLJ and CG book. Like always, I was entertained by a tightly woven and fast paced narrative. Like always, I was struck by the nuanced, emotional character development. Anchored by a suspenseful murder mystery, we’ve got a hot, angsty and emotional romance, a vividly imagined setting, danger and secrets, and so many jaw dropping twists and turns that I need to see a chiropractor (#worth it). I can’t say much about the actual plot, or even characters, without spoiling anything. Expect the unexpected, this story has you on the edge of your seat. And, expect all the emotions- this book will tug on each and every one.

This is some masterful writing- beautiful use of imagery and metaphors, the interesting juxtaposition of the vibe of the setting with the dark tone of the book- I could go on for days about the creativity, the brilliant technical skill used to weave this tale. The character arcs end up being profound allegories about the experience of grief. This story just feels so intimate- you feel raw and exposed yourself. Truly, Aggro represents everything the romance genre has the potential to be - more than steam, more than plot- but a clear point view, a provocative and meaningful commentary on the lived human experience, an emotive journey. There are so many layers of meaning, you could peel it back piece by piece for days and still find more to ruminate on and admire.

These two authors are always master character writers, and the Aggro characters feel so distinct, so special among their cannon. These characters MAKE this story. They are rich, so fascinating and complex. Breeze is TOTALLY unlike any other CLJ heroine, and she’s my new favorite. She’s calm, grounded and steady, an understated wallflower who is also strong, kind, and determined. She knows who she is- she’s so comfortable in her own skin, in her own vulnerability- even though her world, her trust has been destroyed. The story is mostly from her POV-and we really get inside her hurt- I had such empathy, felt her emotions so vividly. I can’t comment on Chase and Kai too much without revealing my fav- but they are both FANTASTIC- and at times I loved them both for Breeze. Their emotions often contrasted one another- as both struggle, too, with their grief and guilt.

For those of you naysayers who don’t like love triangles, don’t let that deter you. The triangle aspect isn’t that consuming, isn’t even really the emotional center of this story. In fact, it isn’t even really a triangle between three people. Sure, we have one girl and two boys who she’s initially torn between, but the triangle is reinvented here- the real tension is between a girl and two warring emotions- grief vs. happiness. Guilt vs. peace. The unclear coupling doesn’t last too long, and when she chooses and the romance strikes? CHILLS. GOOSEBUMPS. EXPLOSION. This is my favorite CLJ couple of all time (WOAH!)- this romance is SO deep, earth-shatteringly emotional and beautiful. Sweet and SO sexy. You won’t imagine Breeze with anyone else- they are each ½ of one soul. The chemistry is epic.

Grief doesn’t just change our characters, it unleashes them. Like I said, Aggro is really a character study on the impact of grief- how loss influences your identity. We find that grief isn’t an emotion but a fluid lived experience, while our characters find themselves. Aggro shows us there can be beauty in the face of loss, healing even in tragedy.

This book is not a gentle wave- it is a hurricane. Unpredictable, a roaring crash, hauntingly beautiful. You’ll spend most of this book in the eye of the storm, but when the clouds clear, the view is breathtakingly beautiful. My words can never encapsulate my adoration for Aggro- so please, just read it and bask in its beauty. Weeks later I’m still thinking about it, unraveling its beautiful mosaic as I find new and exciting meaning to explore. That is what a great book does- it crawls inside your mind and never leaves. Aggro will indelibly be written in mine.

I was with this audiobook sitting on my Audible for a while now, just waiting for the right mood... Well... Apparently it wanted to be my last book of the year.

A single narration usually isn't my first choice on audiobooks, but it was a good narration. A girl narrating all of the guys' POVs, trying to make a dude's voice, ain't my cup of tea. But she did her best! 5 stars to her!

About the story now...

Grieve.
That's the first word that comes to my mind when I think about this book.
So much grieve, that at some point, I was wondering if it would have anything else in the story.

And then Secrets.
Other than grieve, the secrets took place in the story and everyone needed to know what happened to Violet.

That girl died, but she left behind so many crumbs and lies, that she was a vital character along the book.

I liked this book. I liked the plot, even when I didn't loved all the characters.
Kai was brody and kinda of really ordinary.
Chase was a manwhore with abandonment issues.
Breeze was a crying sunshine.
But together they were really good.
My favorite parts of the book where the ones of them as a family near the end. (Not a love triangle, but real friends).

I confess that all the affair part wasn't really a mystery for me, but I didn't saw that epilogue coming! Still can't say if I liked though.

But it was a good book.
I know that this review sucks, but that's it for now. I need to think about it.

Well... That's definitely a wrap on my 2020 books!

Wow, there was so much in this book I didn't see coming. It was not what I was expecting at all. I was enthralled from the start and until the very last page. It consumed my heart.

Aggro is the story of three teens - Breeze (what a name), Chase and Kai. We follow as they grieve the loss of Voilet, who was murdered-- Breeze's best friend, Chase's twin and Kai's girlfriend.

They all want want answers. Trying to piece together what happened the night Voilet's life ended. You see them plagued by guilt, hurt and anger.
There is nothing easy about grief. Nothing. Sometimes you spiral, sometimes you find hope and love in ones you don't think you should. Sometimes it consumes you until you feel like you can't breathe.

There are SO MANY twists and turns in this book. You feel like you're caught in a riptide with no way out. It was so, so good.

I like that we got some of all their POVs and also some of Voilet's diary entries. You felt even closer to them because of that. It gave the story so much life and depth. You got to feel their emotions come through the pages.

You did give this book a chance. Let it consume you just like it did me. You won't be sorry!

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I picked it up because I thought I knew where it was headed and I like that trope. When it started I had and idea I’d who she would end up with, and started not to like that option because he was pretty douchey. When it shifted, I wasn’t sure what to think, but kept reading anyway determined to give it a shot. I began to embrace them as a couple, putting aside the taboo. My major proven of book is that there is a pretty major plot hole, that the author didn’t bother filling in, and I’m not sure why.

Mild spoilers ahead:

The hero is the ex boyfriend and he had began having feelings for the heroine FOUR MONTHS before the best friend died. That’s four months of him hanging out and yes still screwing her (our h is a virgin of course). They fought all the time and the bff was cheating for several months at least (it’s proven later). So it truly makes no sense aside to fill the taboo of her falling for her bff’s ex. I just don’t get why the author decided not to address this someway. I kept waiting for him to say something like “we stopped sleeping together a while ago, I just kept keeping up the image so that I had a reason to spend time with you. I don’t know why she wanted the same thing”. But it NEVER happened, no explanation for why she didn’t dump him or stop sleeping with him at least since she was having and affair and convinced she was in love. They could have at least only had him and the BFF together for a month or something. 4 months is a long time, and they had been together for an unspecified amount of time before that. The H ends off coming off like a non caring douche or a guy with no balls. Neither are attractive. It ruins the book and it’s impossible to take his feelings seriously. Just lazy writing and an example of why beta readers who only kiss your butt are useless. I should not be the only person to catch this. It’s a true case of how a sentence could have saved a book.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: taboo
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I recently met CoraLee June at a book signing where she was there as a reader with her grandma. When we started talking, I admitted I hadn't read her before and asked her which book I should read. She suggested this one and BOY it did not disappoint!! Great storyline that is well written with tons of suspense. A true who done it that will blow you away. Angsty, without being gratuitously so and a cast of characters that will surprise you with their growth while keeping you completely emotionally invested till the end. Absolutely loved it!

Y'all READ this book. Holy smokes. This book is what the romance genre should be. There is so much suspense, intrigue, twist, turns, I stayed up all night just so I could finish because I HAD to know what was happening. The authors do not fail in delivering probably one of the best books in the romance genre of 2020. This book will capture your soul and hold it hostage until the end. The spellbinding words just flow, and it was amazing, to feel so in tune with a book that you can tell was a passion project for them.
This book has such deep questions, how well do we know others, who are close, how well do we even know ourselves. There are tons of questions, the character development in this book is beyond amazing. There is no stone left upturned in this book. The chemistry in this book is off the charts, and so is the grief. The grief is palpable, it's a living breathing entity, and the authors give it a voice, something I have seen if ever.
Do yourself a huge favor and read this book, it is told mostly in 1st person pov, with some multiole pov thrown in, which I absolutely am here for. Follow the journey of Breeze, Chase and Kai. You won't be disappointed.

... '' I didn't plan on liking you, and when you're ready I'll tell you how it happened - how I stared to fall for the girl that hid in the shadows instead of the girl that enjoyed being the life of a party...

Gah, this book! The characters! The plot, the love, the bromance, the ending, EVERYTHING!

Aggro is a mystery romance. Breeze's best friend Violet gets murdered, and with a help of Violet's brother Chase and Violet's boyfriend Kai, they're all trying to figure out what happened.
The more they find out, the more disgusted they are. The truth is hard to bare. And it's tearing them apart emotionaly.
But not everything is ugly, love comes when you least expect it. But will it survive?

The story is so intense and so very well written! And while words are like weapons, they wound sometimes, this time they'll leave you in a complete ave.

OMG....What a fantastic read. Aggro was unlike anything I've read. This YA romance was engrossing, riveting and so well-written I was hooked from beginning to end. The story was mysterious, emotional and heart-racing, You think you know what to expect but you don't. With nail biting twists and turns you will be at the edge of your seat anxiously turning the pages to find out what happens.
This was a story that about the shared experience of dealing with grief and guilt and how the healing process is different for everyone. Its a story about relationships, friendship and family. Its a story that will make you question how well you really know those close to you. Its a story centered around murder, lies and deceit and it will give you all the feels as out of all the mayhem love and friendship emerges.
The characters were engaging, complex and well-developed and I was consumed with them. The story is told from varying POV giving us a glimpse into the minds of these characters. We are taken on a journey with Breeze, Chase and Kai, one filled with loss, danger and healing and through it all we see them grow, love and mature and I loved each of them equally.
And then the story end..... and I'm anxious for more. What an ending! What a story! Aggro is without a doubt a top read for 2020. This phenomenal page-turner is worthy off a 5 star status and I would highly recommend it to lovers of YA romantic suspense.

"Love doesn’t happen overnight. It’s like a cliff overlooking the ocean. The ocean has to cut and work at the rock. The earth has to push and break and build to form it. Thousands of years pass in a blink, and then you have this beautiful testament to time and perseverance.”

I seem to be in the minority with this one, but I just didn't dig this one all. The quasi love triangle was done well, and there was always only one front runner, of course, totally misunderstood, but it was the suspense part that just didn't do it for me. The whodunnit was just ridiculous quite frankly and utterly unbelievable. Maybe it is because I have read so many crime books, that I am judging this book on the same plane. I love being sideswiped, which I was, but come on...seriously...

“Our love story might not have been conventional, but it was perfectly ours.”

I haven’t read a lot from Coralee June, but what I have I loved. I’m not sure why this didn’t pop up on my Kindle notifications, but it did pop up all over some of my reading groups as a top read of 2020......I downloaded it right away, not even reading the blurb. So when I did actually take a peak at what I was in store for.....well I instantly knew this was gonna be a painful one. Since the truly emotionally painful ones are my fave reads....
description
.....I was itching to start this journey. Even the hints of some kind of love triangle (which I HATE) couldn’t turn me away from reading Aggro.....I just hoped it would be everything I expected it to be. You know those books that don’t live up to all the hype? Well you aren’t going to find that here....instead you will find a story that tugs on your heartstrings, keeps you in complete suspense, delivers on the steam, and leaves your heart in your stomach from the angst that seriously never lets up. This didn’t feel like a written book, I felt like I was reading the manuscript for a blockbuster murder mystery/romance. I couldn’t put it down!

Book Facts:
Told in:Predominately from heroine’s POV, with some sections from both Kai & Chase (as well as a few diary excerpts of Violet’s).
About: This is a stand-alone that features a angsty, suspenseful, & forbidden romance. It tells the story of Breeze as she deals with the grief over her best friends murder while finding comfort in Violet’s twin brother Chase and boyfriend Kai. It does have some love triangle elements in the beginning BUT there is only one love interest for the majority of the book.
Triggers: Murder, Gruesome/graphic body discovery, graphic violence (towards female).
Ends in: HEA for couple, with hint of another book to come for other character.

The Main Players:
Breeze: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Breeze is Violet’s longtime best friend, the daughter of a surf shop owner and nurse who would rather spend her time chasing waves than chasing the party. She is the opposite of everything Violet was....she’s a wallflower, never wanting to be the center or attention of caring about sexy clothing or makeup. She’s had a crush on Chase (Violet’s twin) for a long time. She is absolutely beautiful, the type that doesn’t have to try. She is a giver, selflessly giving her all to those she loves and not really standing up for herself. It’s hard for her to not see the good in people. I loved her because I could relate so easily to her, and I admired seeing her grow stronger through her grief. But I have to admit, sometimes she was too “perfect” & saint-like, not as imperfect as I like my heroines to be.

Chase: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Chase is Violet’s twin brother, the son of two extremely wealthy yet absent parents who loves surfing, partying, sex, and two girls (his sister and Breeze). He is just as popular as Violet and his gorgeous looks make him the center of attention. After Violet’s murder, he becomes out of control and reckless. He thinks Breeze is beautiful and is attracted to her. He is sometimes selfish but also loyal and protective. I wasn’t a fan of Chase’s in the beginning, but then he ended up becoming my fave of the three. I absolutely loved his heart, especially where Breeze & her mom were concerned.

Kai: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kai is Violet’s boyfriend, both his parents are dead leaving his dangerous drug dealing/criminal older brother as his only family. He is a little older than the other two, living a life centered around surfing (something he is amazing at) and less about being the center of attention. His relationship with Violet was toxic and volatile, his heart was set on someone else long before it started to crumble. He is viewed as a dangerous bad boy, but looks can be deceiving. He is caring and compassionate, but he’s also guilt-ridden and hardened. He is devious and delicious, jealous and protective. I knew early on I was going to love me some Kai, the only thing I hated was how misunderstood/mislabeled he is.

What I liked:
Violet’s Diary Excerpts: I LOVED the diary excerpt elements mixed into the chapters. It added this additional level of mystery surrounding Violet, BUT I have to admit I correctly guessed who it was she was talking about very early on (like within the first few chapters). It still didn’t take away from the overall shock of all that surrounded that discovery.

Grieving Process: I loved how it showed them all dealing with their grief in very different ways. There is no right way so I appreciated that she made sure to give us outlooks from 3 characters dealing and processing in their own way.

Breeze Coming to Terms: I loved that after Violet’s death, Breeze is forced to come to terms with the fact that Violet wasn’t the perfect friend or person she idolized her as. That she was simply a flawed human just like everyone else.

The Overall Mystery: There are so many mysteries to solve that it’s impossible not to try to come up with your own theories. There were times while reading I honestly forgot I was reading a fictional book and thought it was a real case. it literally builds and builds and just when you think the truth is finally revealed and all is known.....
description
.....you are left with the most shocking truth of them all.

Kai’s Feelings for Breeze: I was afraid it would feel wrong because of the whole Violet element, but the way it is handled and how we are let in on just how those feelings had started to develop prevented that from happening. I LOVED that he saw her when she couldn’t even see those things in herself.....
“Violet Jones was like a scream. Loud. Piercing. You couldn't help but hear her. But you know what, Breeze? I started to like this whisper of a girl. Calm. She flows like the air. Understated but powerful. Potent. Precious. She’s beautiful. And it’s so wrong.”
description
I was especially obsessed with his nickname for her.....Little Whisper.

What I didn’t:
Chase (first half): I wasn’t a Chase fan for almost the first half of the book. I felt like he was playing games with Breeze knowing she had a childhood/longtime crush on him.....
description
.....having her do his bidding by giving her hope.

Breeze’s Hypocrisy: I didn’t like how Breeze was upset anytime someone called her out for her way of grieving BUT she had no problem coming down on Chase about his way of dealing with losing his freaking TWIN and Kai’s way of dealing with his loss.

The Verdict:
description
This is a course in incredible storytelling, taking the reader on a unique journey of so many emotions. It was absolutely consuming, taking no time to literally hypnotize you into refusing to put it down. Don’t let the love triangle aspect turn you off, it’s such a minuscule part of the overall story being told and doesn’t hold a candle to how brilliant of a book this is. I really don’t have the right words to adequately describe how I feel right now, but I can tell you without a doubt this is one you DO NOT WANT TO SKIP ON OR G0 THE REST OF 2020 WITHOUT.

“It was a long and hard road for us, but it was worth every tear and every bit of pain to get here.”

If I could give this book more then 5 stars I would, usually when I read books, I usually take a sneak peak at some reviews to see what I am up for. Surprisingly with this book I did not do that, I went in completely blind and I am so glad that I did.

From the movement that I started this book, I was absolutely hooked into this world that these two authors had created. This book is unlike any other book that I have read. This book is raw and it’s real, it’s definitely a book that will stay with me for a very long time.

This book made me feel so many emotions, it made me feel raw, exposed and overall just taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I’ve never connected with characters and a storyline like this before, it completely sucked my whole mind set and wouldn’t let me think of anything else but this book.

This story took hold of my heart from the very first page and kept a tight grip till the very last page,,,, yes I was hooked and demolished it in one sitting I NEEDED to see how it ended.

Your taken on a journey of complete devastation and continue on a path of secrets and lies and betrayal beyond comprehension but this is also a story of love, hope, healing and of course with a little bit of forgiveness thrown in.

Whilst embarking on this journey, I felt like I was one of the detectives in the book, I was trying to pull together pieces of the puzzle to see if I could figure out who murdered the best friend before these authors did. Just when I thought I had an idea, we were thrown with a complete 180 and I was completely wrong and gobsmacked with the information that was being thrown at me.

This book is so beautifully written you cant help but fall in love with these characters the writing is so good it makes you feel every emotion they experience and more and it will definitely be one I will remember.

The Whole Group Dynamic was absolutely amazing, each so very different to one another. I at first was worried who she was gonna chose out of the two guys. Because to be honest I had fallen for one guy more then the other, the other I loved as well but not as much as the other. The other guy was too obsessed and caught up in the murder discovery that he wouldn’t have been able to love Breeze the way that she deserved. There was only one guy that could do that.

One thing I loved about this book, was as much as they were in pain and grieving. They never gave up on their path of navigating who killed the best friend. It had become their soul purpose, even thrown in with some major twists and turns that didn’t stop, it just added more fuel to the fire that was already burning. Made them that even more determined.

To say my emotions were tested were an understatement, it absolutely broke my heart with all the pain and suffering that was happening. The guilt they all harboured for different reasons. They were all stuck in this guilt bubble that had taken over their life so much that they wouldn’t even allow themselves to be happy. That was a shattering piece of my heart.

This book isn’t gentle, it’s a hurricane, unpredictable and hauntingly beautiful. My review can never sum up how much of this book I absolutely loved. Definitely read this book, it’s one a kind and everything I didn’t expect.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I love Breeze and Kai so much. I loved their beautiful friendship with Chase. All three of them are my babies, rip me.

Now let me scream about that epilogue that fucked me up. Major spoiler!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

This was such a compelling and emotional read that it left me quite a mess. This was a powerful story that had a dose of mystery and suspense. This story really swept me away.

I absolutely love this writing duo. Their writing style flows so seamlessly. It is inviting and all-consuming. The plot was brilliant. I loved every moment, every twist and turn in the story. I was kept on the edge of my seat. I have some mixed feelings about the epilogue. I felt that it was unnecessary and did nothing for the story. At the same time, it was kind of clever and definitely shocking. In the end, it really put a sour taste in my mouth when all I was wanting was something to fill my heart with joy. It didn't change my rating but it definitely gave me mixed feelings.

These characters were marvelous. I loved the chemistry between Breeze, Chase, and Kai. These three didn't start off on the best of terms. In fact, Chase and Kai hated each other throughout most of the book. The build-up that the authors create in their relationship is awesome. I loved the individual relationships that Breeze had with each of them and then their combined relationship as a group. Each of the characters were interesting, likable, and relatable. The character growth for these characters is incredible.

The romance kind of started off in love triangle territory. I thought that the authors did a really great job of fleshing it out. Both boys express interest in Breeze after her best friend's death. First, we have Chase, her best friend's brother. Breeze has crushed on him since she was ten years old. Chase expresses interest in Breeze after Violet's death but kind of in a toxic way. He is lashing out and self-destructing because of his grief. It really felt like it was just a bit of wrong timing. It seemed as though he really did care about Breeze but never expressed it before. Chase's actions while he is dealing with his grief kind of push Breeze away. Second, we have Kai. Violet's boyfriend. Violet and Kai had a very toxic relationship with a lot of back and forth. Kai reveals that he had feelings for Breeze for a while and had been keeping them under wraps. He said that he had tried to break up with Violet before her death. After spending time with Kai, Breeze gets to know him and they really bond. She sees that he isn't the horrible person that rumors and other people may claim. Breeze and these two boys deal with their grief over Violet's death together. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that Breeze definitely has chemistry with both boys. In the end, one becomes the best friend and the other gets her heart.

Overall, this is a gripping story about grief that will break your heart and put it back together again. This story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. This book definitely packs on the feels. The emotions run rampant in this story. I loved the way that the authors showed that not all people deal with grief in the same ways. This was an unforgettable story that rocked my socks.

Update you know what what fuck it I’m giving it 5 stars I can’t stop thinking abt this book and what a good time it was.

***********************************************************

What happens when your best friend is murdered and you find her body in the woods and end up in a bit of a love triangle w her twin brother & her boyfriend

This is exactly what I miss in romance I need plot or character development I’m getting so tired of just TikTok “ spice” & vibes”

OMFGGGG I can’t believe I finally found a romance book that was actually enjoyable and not just me rating it higher bc I got sick of giving all the books I was reading a low rating.

My thoughts are kinda all over the place on this one
for some reason it’s a lot easier for me to write down my thoughts when I don’t enjoy the books vs when I actually do.

I’ll say the things I liked and what kept me engaged in the story.

The heroine & her bff who died I actually felt like they loved each other so many times w the FMC bestie or sister she was really close to dies it’s not hard to figure out that they actually had a terrible relationship and the latter was often a horrible person to the heroine not here they genuinely felt like sisters to me they had a realistic sister bond

They kept secrets from each other. sometimes they were envious of each other. sometimes they had negative thoughts abt the other one. but despite that the love they had for each-other was lovely I teared up a bit reading violets email to breez *i hate her name* and telling her she was her real family all along.

Chase & breez should have been endgame idc if everyone feels like Kai was her soulmate fuck him he’s irrelevant it’s not even funny. her and chase actually had real chemistry and the way they cared for each other was everything to me

Yes he acted like a dick but his sister was dead and his parents abandoned him so I can understand him and I loved that breez never gave up on him just bc he was hurting and she said you don’t walk away from family uhhh they were so great together wtf.

Idc what anyone says the hottest scene was her watching chase get a bj while he stared at her, her & Kai never had that tension & their sex scenes were boring af.

Lmfao the fact that I like a scene w the FL watching one of the hero’s w ow is so funny to me than any of the actual sex scenes in this book.

Kai? ?? Um he literally felt like a side character to me man was really a replacement not just to his dead ex gf but his New gf forever second choice I guess.

He actually started off okay but he became pretty boring and standoffish pretty quickly honestly I think this book was a set up to be a ménage type relationship but the authors changed their minds last minute. bc chase breez & kai worked better all together.

I did kinda guess the ending but not really the part abt her mom that actually surprised me but I wouldn’t say I was stunned but I love how nobody found out. and the only two ppl who really knows what happened at the end are breezes parents and the reader

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Suspense, Enemies to lover with a little love triangle thrown in the mix. OMG, I thought for sure I knew who did it, but I was so wrong, this was pretty good read, it was crazy the way it ended.

All the feels.
Most emotional twisty-turning read this year. If you haven’t read Aggro by Coralee June and Carrie Gray you really should!

Y SI ACERTEEEEEEEE 🙈

PEROOOOOOOOOO LUEGO ESTA ESE EPÍLOGO Y NO ME LO VEÍA VENIR 🤯

ME ENCANTÓ, SÚPER RECOMENDADO. ❤️

This is my second book by this writing duo and they are going from strength to strength. Seriously if you haven't discovered them pick this book you won't be disappointed.
This is a YA romance unlike anything coming of age book you've read previously. The storyline is dark mysterious and thrilling, it grabbed my attention from the start I couldn't put it down. There are four main players, Violet Chase Kai and Breeze. One of them is murdered and three are left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives whilst trying to find a killer.
The writing is impeccable the characterisation is brilliantly done. There are twists and truths to this story that lay waste to your emotions. From something so heinous can a beautiful love blossom and grow? These two authors have very quickly moved to the top of my favourite lost and after this book I don't see that changing.

OMFG!!! AGGRO was written by two diabolical geniuses!!! Going into the book, I knew it was going to be different from the last one I had read by these two lovely ladies (Looking to Score).

Aggro is a mystery romance surrounding the murder of Breeze's best friend. With the help of Kai (bff's boyfriend) and Chase (bff's brother), they are trying to figure out what happened. One guy is pushing her away, while the other is asking her to do more. Breeze is the quiet, surfer girl. Kai is the guy from the wrong side of the tracks (so to speak), and Chase is the brother of her bff who is the rich boy having fun. What they uncover is mouth dropping.

Let's just say my mouth dropped quite a few times while reading this book. Just when I thought i knew where it was going, they dropped something else on me! It was soooooooo good!!! I did not want to put this down. Hands down (for me) this is one the best books I've read this year. This is the perfect romance thriller summer beach read. Highly recommend!

This is a really tough one to rate...

I don't normally do contemporary romance as a genre, preferring fantasy or paranormal books, but this popped up on my Goodreads newsfeed and the blurb, and then the mountains of 5 star reviews made me give it a go.

I'm mostly glad I did. On many levels it was well written and the other reviews get it right when they say that it deals with the grief of the characters in a raw way. There was lots of raving in other reviews about the language and the metaphors for grief, and whilst I see what they mean, the ocean as a metaphor for grief isn't exactly the most original thing I've ever read.

I feel like I'm being quite harsh, but this was a good book. It was raw and emotional and did bother, on the whole, to really try with the characterisation. I also liked the snippets of Violet's diary. Whilst a little cheesy, I appreciated it as a structural device.

I much prefered the first 60% to the rest of the book, and I was pretty engrossed at first. Then something is revealed that was painfully obvious for ages before, and it all started tj get a little cheesy, which began to draw me out of the story and out me off.

I'm not usually a straight romance reader, and I also tend to avoid books with teenage characters (although these are 17-19 year olds, but the kind who have abs and tattoos and cars and present as adults, mostly, while having that annoying juvenile attitude of youth). I always find the dichotomy of the young age of these characters, yet the things they get up to, eye rolling. Not that I'm saying kids in that age bracket don't get up to some adult stuff, but writing teenagers like grown adults is a personal let peeve of mine. So I was predisposed to find elements of this annoying, I suppose.

So, what annoyed me then?

Breeze's hero worship of Violet got old quite quickly, as it was obvious she treated her pretty badly as a friend, even before the dirty secrets got out. I liked her and sympathised with her, but her doormat qualities rubbed me the wrong way sometimes. The fact that Chase's character does a complete transformation from the sort of guys who chokes his girlfriend (but it's okay because she likes it and he just went too far) to some well adjusted hero, annoyed me, as it felt really unrealistic that one minute he qad a bit mess and the next he was Mr Mostly Well Adjusted. I liked Kai, but then he got a bit ridiculous for a while, and then got super cheesy.

The thing that cemented this book as a bit of a disappointment in the end was the ending. The ending to Kai and Breeze's story was the ultimate in romance cheese (and she's like 21 at this point?) and then the epilogue. Hailed in reviews as a big twist, I just thought it was really silly. It felt like it was there for the shock factor and for no other reason. There was no clever and subtle clues and hints that l this was the situation all along, and the reasons for what happens were completely unrealistic.

So, I'm still not sure whether to go for 2 or 4 starts. I felt like all along I was going 4 stars, but let's wait and see with the twist I know is coming, and then with the way it ended its made me want to drop of rating.

If you like angsty romance then this is a well written example of it, but it just wasn't as good as I was expecting from the reviews.

Original review

This book was provided by the authors through Wildfire Marketing Solutions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Carrie Gray, Coralee June and Wildfire Marketing Solutions!

Aggro
is a Mystery Romance about Breeze’s best friend being murdered and Breeze being confused by her feelings for two boys, Chase and Kai.

I read and loved Carrie Gray and Coralee June’s first book, Looking to Score, and when I found out they were writing another book together, I just had to read it! This book is so different from Looking to Score, but in a good way. Aggro is such an addictive read, and you don’t see the end coming at all. There were many times that I was shocked or surprised and I loved it! Carrie Gray and Coralee June killed it!

When I need to review books, I usually write down a few things while reading, but with Aggro, I kept writing theories of who killed Violet. I’m laughing at my notes now that I finished the book, because I guessed wrong. Carrie Gray and Coralee June really surprised me with the ending, and I’m here for it. I also loved the diary entries from Violet, I thought that she was this specific person, and turns out she’s completely different from what I imagined.

As for the other characters, I really loved Breeze. I could totally relate to her because we’re so alike. I always love reading about characters that have the same personality as me, because I can relate to them and usually understand them better. As for the guys, I liked Kai more than Chase. From the beginning of the book, I was intrigued by Kai and I loved reading in his POV.

Something that I also really liked about this book is that it’s so realistic. Aggro also talks about grief, guilt and needing to process things. I loved that Breeze and X (I don’t want to spoil you) didn’t immediately jump into their relationship again, but took the time to think about their feelings, etc.

Aggro was such an amazing book and I didn’t expect anything else from Carrie Gray and Coralee June. They’re definitely one of my favourite writing duos and I cannot wait to read their next book!
