Downfall: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Kingdoms of Sin Book 1) Kindle Edition
I was naïve to think my marriage to Luka Catano might work.
I was infatuated with him from afar…
Until I met him.
He loved the challenge of his next conquest, anyone would do...
Except me.
A wife was never something he wanted. Torturous was not a strong enough word to describe how I felt when I was in a room with Luka. Besides hating nearly every word that came out of his mouth, I also drowned with lust every time I looked at him. At times I thought he might feel the same. But nothing prepared me for what his family would make me become.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 22, 2020Format: PaperbackDownfall by Willow Aster is the first book in her Kingdoms of Sin series. Told from Edens POV, this story is part bully part arranged marriage and a whole ton of angst and drama. I was hooked from the on set. The feelings this story evokes. The frustration with the characters. So well done. Luka was an absolute jerk for a large portion of the book but he kept having small redeemable moments that made you overlook his bad behavior... only to be a jerk all over again. With some deep-seated plots laced into this story it’s important, I think, to read this series in order. Well paced and well written I will definitely be reading more from this author. Enjoy!
- Reviewed in Canada on December 12, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThe book had so much promise!! I was waiting for the hero to redeem himself and become worthy of her. Instead, he’s mean and nasty. She’s a doormat of basically doesn’t eat the whole book. Then the hero cheats on the heroine a number of times. When it’s all revealed, she takes me back right away!!! I can’t believe people are giving this 5stars! How do you condone his behaviour?!

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall, I read this in one day cause that’s how good I couldn’t put it down.
Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase4.5 stars for the angst the annoyance and the frustrations. I’ll have to say this, but I think this is my second book by this author and I’m actually pleased that this one really gave me the feels.
What to expect from this story is about two people that are brought together by an arranged marriage, but be prepared for Luka and Eden for what you would expect is not love and flowers but secrets, lies, I call it cheating, manipulations and not being able to trust. For me, I think, Luka was hands down an @$$ cause for what he did to unravel secrets really made me dislike him even if he redeemed himself is not the way to go about. As for Eden, she was someone that wore her heart on her sleeves and at times I loved her and at times felt annoyed but she had an amazing bodyguard and even her family was awesome and Luka’s uncle too but I can’t speak for his sister and mum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to be wowed by masterful storytelling!
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseWhatever you think you expect to find in this book, forget it and prepare to be wowed by masterful storytelling! Sex, secrets & scandal - it's all here!
Excited and prepared to do her duty and marry for the good of her country, Eden Safrin is shocked to find out that her husband-to-be is not the man her fantasies created. He is careless, unkind and cold, except for the flashes of heat she glimpses in his eyes from time to time whenever he looks at her. Yet, even with his hot-and-cold behaviour, she can't seem to stay away from him.
"Sometimes, we love, but it's to our detriment."
Just when things start looking better, Luka & Eden realise that there are more machinations at work behind their relationship than they ever could have imagined. So many people want them together, but at what price?
I felt Eden's initial hope and later, frustration and pain when she realised that life wasn't working out quite the way she planned. True love forgives a multitude of wrongs, though, and she finds that out soon enough.
"Love breaks you apart and puts you back together."
Eden does things that I probably would never do, but I rather enjoyed this first installment of the Kingdoms of Sin series, and as a first-time reader of Willow Aster, I must say I am impressed and definitely looking forward to more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinfully Addictive
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is unlike other books written by Willow and yet I loved it. She has a way of creating characters and world-building, which drew me in.
I didn't want to put it down and read it in one sitting. Perfectly good use of my Saturday.
Luka, love to hate is a strong definition but it’s true. He is a real piece of work. There were times I wanted to strangle the boy. His character is such a contradiction, hot one moment then cold the next.
But bravo to Eden who despite all the trials and tribulations of adhering to her royal obligations. She remained true to herself, her strengths even in her weakened state, were still very becoming of her. And like me, you'll find it hard not to resonate with her.
Although this is part of a series, Downfall is a stand-alone and doesn't end on a cliff-hanger.
I can't wait for Exposed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is the first book I have read by this author and will definitely be reading more. Very well written and great characters. Luka made me so angry how he treats her. It was a gripping read that I couldn't set down
