By Madhusudan Timalsina, Kavre, June 9: Some star hotels of Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchok district are to be used as quarantine locations for the overseas-returnees willing to pay a cost of Rs. 3 to 8 thousand a day.

District COVID Crisis Management Center (DCCMC) took a decision to this effect in its meeting on Monday.

Prem Kantha Shrestha, Chairman of the Regional Hotel Association of Dhulikhel, said that the hoteliers were ready to provide 627 beds of hotels to be used as quarantine place for those who return home from abroad due to COVID-19 and are willing to pay the cost of living in the luxury hotels.

Jyotsna Sainju, secretary of the Association, said that the Association committed to provide 14 hotels of Dhulikhel and a hotel of Banepa for the purpose of using them as quarantine locations for the overseas-returnees.

The hotels proposed by the Association are 2 to 4 star hotels. A person will have to pay Rs. 3 to 8 thousand a day for staying in these hotels. However, one may have to pay less than that if she/he stays in the double bed room with a partner and the cost per person may be Rs. 2 to 5 thousand a day, according to secretary Sainju.

Association Chairman Shrestha said that the hoteliers were ready to provide more rooms and beds for using as quarantine facility as there were 74 hotels with a thousand room in total in Dhulikhel if the government asked them for more beds.

Sharawan Kumar Timilsina, Chief District Officer of Kavrepalanchok, said that arrangement was made for those unable to pay the hotel cost to stay in the quarantine facility set up by the local level. According to him, there are 643 quarantine beds in a ready condition at present. So far, 102 persons of the district have returned to the district from India and 3 from UAE and they are staying in the quarantine spaces set up by the local levels.
