Exempting from punishment for illegal stay, Kuwait sends 149 Nepalis back home by air free of cost

By Chandani Hamal, Kathmandu, June 12: The Kuwait government had exempted those residing illegally in Kuwait from punishment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nepalis, in numbers, were also exempted from the punishment. The Kuwait government has been sending Nepali women who were residing illegally in Kuwait to Nepal at its own cost via Jazeera Airlines.

While 299 women returned to Nepal via two flights on Thursday, as many as 149 Nepalis have returned from Kuwait today.

"142 women and seven children including newborns have returned to Nepal," informed Dev Chandralal Karn, spokesperson of Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA).

After being exempted from punishment, they were residing in temporary shelter.

Meanwhile, Kuwait government is putting effort to send Nepalis via two more flights.
