4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,710 ratings

Can you call someone an enemy if you haven’t seen them for the better part of a decade?

Deacon Black is perfectly content with the status quo—work, sleep, repeat.
Who cares if he’s rigid, structured, and set in his ways?
It’s a job requirement that keeps his men safe and his company’s doors open.
One phone call is all it takes to upend his life and land him right back into a past he has tried to forget.
Revisiting old ghosts is the last thing he needs.
Especially when the forced trip down memory lane includes the only woman he never wanted to see again.

Annalise Grimaldi hit the jackpot with her life—from her trust fund to her best friend, she has it all.
But her world comes crashing to a halt when her best friend vanishes— leaving behind an apartment in tatters and more questions than answers.
There’s only one person she can think of that can help in a situation like this.
She hates to make the call, but there isn’t a thing she wouldn’t do to make sure her friend is found.
Even setting aside her hatred for Deacon Black.

This story hooked me right at the very start. This author has a way with her words that keeps you from being able to put your book down! You want to take that story everywhere! I devoured this book, I ate up every little word. The writing flowed so well and it was perfectly proportioned. A little suspense here, a bit of angst there, some hot as FFF steamy scenes.. so good!

This is an enemies to lovers type story and boy could you feel it! But I love how they grew with each other as the pages went on. I just love it all! Their steam...ohh... hot! I could feel that buzz and hear the crackle of electricity when they were in the same room.

This story is the first in the series and I can not WAIT for the next one. I am so eager to find out more about the guys. This book is a must read!

Hostile Territory is the first book of the Blackbridge Security series by Marie James.

Deacon Black is perfectly content being a workaholic —work, sleep, repeat. he does not care if he is set in his ways as it keeps him and his men who work for him safe. He owns blackbridge security & consulting company.
Annalise Grimaldi hit the jackpot with her life—from her trust fund to her best friend, she has it all, until she thinks something has happened to her best friend Dani who just so happens to beDeacon's ex wife.

The relationship between Deacon and Annalise is an enemies to lovers romance as they despised each other when he was married to Dani. Deacon struggles with his attraction to Annalise. This story is told in dual point of View

Hostile Territory is book 1 in the new Blackbridge Security series, one I couldn’t wait to get my hands on.

Deacon Black has created a new life for himself, but when he gets a call from his ex’s best friend letting him know that she needs help he jumps into action and does what he does best. When he starts to uncover some truths he also comes face to face with the reality that he is starting to fall for Annalise. Can he admit how he feels before its to late?

I personally really enjoyed this story, James had me hook line and sinker; forbidden romance with a side of suspense. I am looking forward to reading more from this series.

Hostile Territory was a story that had me gripped from the very first page. Deacon and Anna’s story is an enemies to lovers romance that draws you in to not only the story but the characters. An action packed suspense with so much chemistry and heat that it radiates off the pages. The characters connected with me instantly and at times had me holding my breath as the push and pull between Deacon and Anna became electric. This captivating start to a new series has me itching for more.

Deacon was ex military who now has his own security business. Anna is his ex wife's best friend so when something happens to Dani, Anna gets a hold of Deacon for help. I have to say I loved this book with the suspense, steam and humor. All of the characters in this book sure held their own and have me wanting to see where things go for all of them.

Hostile Territory by Marie James is the first book in her brand new Blackbridge Security series. This story of Deacon Black & Annalise Grimaldi is told in dual POV between these two characters and begins the world building for the series. Well-written and well-paced, the story starts with Deacon and Annalise on opposing sides. She is the best friend to his ex-wife and has never liked him. His ex-wife may not be quite the woman he thought she was all those years ago though, and when she goes missing, it's the urgent call from Annalise and her level of distress that has Deacon pulling out all the stops to locate his ex-wife, and not the fact that it's his ex. A solid start for a new series, i was invested in the characters but a little frustrated with the stubbornness of both when it came time for them to deal with their feelings. Enjoy!

Full of action and a group of seriously hot Alpha's this first installment in the new BlackBridge Security series went off with a bang.

Deacon Black is going about his new life quite happily when all of a sudden his old one comes crashing into his office in the form of his ex-wife's best friend Annalise Grimaldi. Cue a rollercoaster of mixed emotions from these 2 great main characters who in the past only had contempt for each other.

Hot guys, high tech gadgets, guns, diamonds oh and don't forget the Russian Mob, this page turner has something for everyone who loves a good steamy suspenseful read. Looking forward to seeing where the rest of this great new series goes.

Truth? This is actually my second time reading this one. I bought it and read it when it was released. I loved it then (as I love it now).

I stopped after this one in this series, to read this author's Cerberus MC series, as it was mentioned in this story. That series was and is completely addictive and consuming. I kept buying this series, but kept them in my TBR pile.

Wanting a good Summer read (series), I remembered these were waiting!! I am SOO frustrated with myself for not reading this sooner! This is an amazing read (as I knew it would be) and I couldn't stop flipping the pages!!

I highly recommend this book, series and author.
Her works are always original, creative, steamy, suspenseful, and addictive. The characters are easy to enjoy and stay with you, long after the pages have stopped turning.

I highly recommend this book and this author. Be sure to plan your time accordingly. Her reads are almost impossible to put down once started!!

I enjoy a good private security romance, and this one hit all the right notes. I was initially irritated with the FMC, but her growth throughout the book was fist bump worthy. I can’t say the same for her vapid BFF. The lack of communication between the characters made me want to bang my head on a wall. Thank goodness for good friends who call certain someone out on their crap. The narration was good, but it was a bit lacking in the chemistry department. Overall, this was a good read/listen. It definitely works as a great palate cleanser (which was my aim).

Blackbridge Security has some sexy Alphas that I know are going to have some great stories to tell! The first is with the owner of the company, Deacon and his ex wife’s best friend Annalise (Anna). Lots of intrigue, head games, a twisted past and a great African Grey parrot that has some of the best lines!! LOL
