Yet another milestone in a sustainable future of aviation. Airbus has begun aircraft deliveries by doing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) flights to customers location from its Hamburg, Germany, site.

The first delivery of this kind has already took place. Airbus handed over two brand new A321LR on lease from AerCap to Air Transat using a 10 per cent SAF blend to fly the aircraft from Hamburg to Montreal, Canada, non-stop. The fuel was supplied by Air bp and produced by Neste.

Airbus aims to become “the first aircraft manufacturer offering customers the option of receiving new jetliners with sustainable fuel in their tanks,” said Airbus.

This is not the first initiative on the road to greener operations. SAF deliveries at Airbus have been available since 2016, from Toulouse, France, followed by Mobile, Alabama, USA. What concern Hamburg, Germany, SAF flights have been operated out of Hamburg with its Beluga transport aircraft since December 2019.
