Dear Friends,

This has been a challenging year with the inconveniences due to the coronavirus. In spite of that, life does go on and we find ways to overcome these inconveniences. Congratulations to Mariah Roderiques who graduated high school and received her diploma this week. Well done Mariah! Though your senior year didn’t turn out as you expected, you have still accomplished the goal of graduation. The same is true with all of us. Our inconveniences due to the virus are but momentary, and “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Cor. 5:17).  So we must look to Jesus to guide and protect us in the midst of these inconveniences!

We know that many will not be able to join us in person for health reasons so we are broadcasting our Sunday morning worship on Facebook Live. You can join us live on our Facebook community page (Pocasset Baptist Community page). If you are not a part of our community we can add you if you email us at pastor@pocassetbaptist.org and ask to join. On Sunday morning go to our Facebook community page and watch us live. We will start the live feed at 9:55.

For those who join us in person we ask that you wear a facemask when you are close to another person, and that you seat 6 feet apart. There will not be childcare or children’s church. Our service will last about 1 hour. Thank you.

The Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study is meeting at various homes at 10 AM. Please contact Ruth Leech for the schedule of meetings.

Join Us this Saturday for Backyard Fellowship: You are invited to come on over to Bob and Margaret Reali’s backyard (78 Eel Pond Road, Bourne (Monument Beach)) for a time of fellowship around a fire this Saturday (7/25). We will start at 7:00 pm, but feel free to join us at any time. Please bring your own chairs. If you would like to have a backyard fellowship at your house, please let Pastor Glenn know.

Message

We are all created in the image of God. God’s image is revealed in scripture as a Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in perfect relational harmony. Though we are hard pressed to explain the nature of the Trinity, one thing we can conclude is that God’s image is relational. We are “Created for Community!” We come to faith in Christ as individuals; we are born again into God’s family; and we grow in community. Life in Jesus is not meant to be solitary and individualistic, but shared and collective. Our scriptures this week bear that out. Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 and John 17:20-26 speak about the importance of Christian community. With the ongoing pandemic it is easy for us to lose sight of the importance of being in community. The isolation we have experienced for several months can become our new normal if we don’t fight for community. Join us Sunday as we consider what it means to be “Created for Community.”

This Week @ Pocasset Baptist

Bible Readings– Jesus said that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. What better way to feed ourselves spiritually but to read from God’s word every day. For this week we are reading: Ezra 9 – Nehemiah 12; Isaiah 8 - 14 ; 2 Timothy 1 – Titus 3.

This week we will focus our prayer for Sandwich. Pray for our church family who live in Sandwich that they would be a light for the gospel and for those who live in Sandwich for God to draw them to Jesus. Let’s believe Him for a move of the Holy Spirit!

Thank you for your faithful and ongoing support of our church ministry during this shutdown. You can give through PayPal here or on our website, or with Cashapp ($FirstBaptistPocasset) or by mailing your check to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1080, Pocasset MA 02559.

We have a Facebook group (PBC Community) to help us stay in touch with one another. If you have not received an invitation, please join Facebook and let Pastor Glenn know and you will be added to our group. Be sure to like us on Facebook to increase our viewership.

Pray for One: Ask God to show you who is your person of peace and pray for them. Pray that God gives you an opportunity to share Jesus story with them.

If you have announcements for the newsletter or the bulletin, please contact Glenn at glennstone52@gmail.com. You may also text message or call him at 774-368-0980.
