From bestselling author, Dr. Rebecca Sharp, comes a captivating and emotional small-town romance where sparks fly as opposites attract and ignite a love that can't be denied...

Jules Vandelsen never wanted for anything - except everything money couldn’t buy.
As the heiress to the Rock Beach Resort, her glamorous world was perfectly tailored to further her parent’s empire.

From designer clothes to private schools, every piece of her life was completely bespoken.

After her grandfather’s death, one fateful night forces Jules to see her palace for what it really is—a pretty prison. Risking her family’s wrath, she’s decided to forge a new path—one that leads straight to the man she can’t stop thinking about… the same chivalrous carpenter who knows more about that night than he’ll admit; Mick Madison.

A Texan-transplant with a giant heart, Mick knows he should keep his distance. After all, dusty jeans and scuffed work-boots might as well scream ‘commoner’ rather than carpenter. But Mick can’t convince himself to stay away… or to stop falling for a woman so far out of his league.

But when Jules’ prestigious family is linked to crimes happening in Carmel Cove, the road to her future splits, and she’ll have to decide between a life she was groomed to live and a life she was made to love.
And choosing love means she could lose Mick forever.

Bespoken gave us all the small town romance feel, made us fall in love with a heroine from the very first chapter, and took us on her journey to self discovery and falling in love. It was sweet, heartfelt with a few heartbreaking moments of their own, and it was the perfect slow burn romance.

Brought up in wealth with a booming family business on Carmel Cove, Jules knows that she has lived a very privileged life and she has never taken that for granted. When you have the type of parents that she has, they never let you forget it and use it as a form of control. They say money can’t always buy you happiness and Jules knows that fact as if it was her first name. But one life changing incident is going to have her in the view of the town’s newest resident and small business owner Mick. Will Jules finally give into something that she’s wanted just for herself? Or will her family’s dynamic get in the way?

Bespoken-9_3.jpg

Mick has always loved doing what he does. Building things with his own bare hands and creating new things is the reason that him and his twin brother has their own construction company. Moving to a new town with a business on the rise, things couldn’t be any better. Well there is one thing that could put it over the top and she is the untouchable Jules Vandelsen. Will Mick have the one thing that he’s always wanted?

I immediately fell in love with the heroine in this story. She was very shy and timid in a sense and she didn’t know her worth. Slowly but surely, she just blossomed into this self assured woman who knew exactly what she wanted and she became stronger with obstacle. I also enjoyed the small town feel that the story had and I liked the secondary characters because they rallied behind the hero and heroine. If you’re in the mood for a small town romance, then I suggest you give this one a try.

WOW, just WOW!!! I really enjoyed the first book in this series, BEHOLDEN, but this story blew me away.

Jules is what I would consider a modern day Rapunzel, she is the princess (or really the heiress to the Rock Beach Resort) who is stuck in a castle which she is trying so hard to escape but it seems with every step forward she gets knocked back a step or two. What truly did me in was Mick, this gentle giant (not a prince) is the perfect person to scale the walls and claim the princess as his own.

Sharp has created a soles that feel like home in these Carmel Cove novels! I never want to leave this amazing town when I’m reading!

Jules and Micks story is one that filled me with so much hope! What really attracts me to this town, these books, is the strength of the heroine! These females may have had some bumps in their lives but they take the challenge and turn out stronger than ever! Jules is fighting for her place in the world and Mick is her foundation! He elevated her and doesn’t allow herself to feel that she is less! Their love is so beautiful but not everyone wants her happiness!

I was absolutely thrilled to see some older older characters as well as getting to see the Carmel Cove gang again!

A breathtaking story that needs to be on the top of your 2020 to read list!

Jules and Miles take us beautifully back into the world of Carmel Cove. Plan for intrigue right from the beginning that leads to delicious romance.

The challenges faced when social class collides is explored in the book. Jules truly is the poor little rich girl who breaks you heart. She really got a raw deal in the parents department. When you Google HORRIBLE people I am sure there names pop up. Her sweetness is impressive especially considering the way she was raised.

Miles is our knight in shining armor, saving our Princess-like Jules, unbeknownst to her. Miles insecurities break my heart too. He feels unworthy of Jules which everyone else knows is completely not true. He represents everything that is good in this life.

So yeah LOVE LOVE LOVE the moments of angst, sexy, and endearing scattered throughout this book. The full cast of Carmel Cove drives my need to check out this entire series. Eek. I need the next one. Wink. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

Bespoken is the second full length novel in Rebecca Sharps Carmel Cove series and is spoken in Dual Perspectives. This can be read as a complete standalone but as always I would recommend reading in order because this series is absolutely amazing and has an interconnected plot line.

This small town romance left me right in the feels. Jules and Mick take you on a journey - when these two people that couldn't be anymore different from each other find love and with so much angst and suspense along the way.

I loved every moment of this beautifully written book and I can't wait for the next one!

If you love an opposites attract, small town romance then this is a must read!! The author has a knack for writing these amazing stories that you immerse yourself in, feeling every ounce of emotion the characters are experiencing. Jules and Mick’s story will have you in tears and experiencing some what the heck moments. It’s has the right amount of everything a reader could ask for in a story. Don’t miss out on this page turner that leaves you wanting more.

I planned to just read this book for a half-hour last night before bed so that I would be able to sleep early, but I ended up reading this book for almost 2 hours just so I could finish it in one sitting. I absolutely fell in love with Mick and Jules, and I wanted them to succeed from the minute they crossed paths until the last page of the book.

This book starts off with scenes of a rich girl romance, but soon you notice that something feels off. Jules has spent years perfecting the persona that her mother wanted her to present, but internally she still struggles to be the model daughter. She isn’t happy with her life, even though by society’s belief she should want for nothing due to the wealth of her parents. Then Mick the carpenter came into her life, and everything changed. Not only is he irresistible to her, she feels like she can finally let down her persona around him. She feels like she can pursue her dreams that a rich husband would force her to give up. But she still has her parents to answer to, the people who have control over her life as they currently control her finances.

I loved how Mick was always so protective and caring for Jules. He was always supportive of her dreams and would have even given any thought of having a relationship with her if he knew it would make her happy. His heart ached for her, and hers needed him. This book was also big on consent between the characters, which I noticed and appreciated. Not that most books are non-consensual, but Sharp just made it very clear that her characters were discussing boundaries. This really made the scenes all the more special, as the characters really could be seen to care for one another.

This book had a lot of action and thriller details in it, which I enjoyed. Sometimes plain romance books bore me after a while, but this one had me on my toes from the beginning to the end of the novel. I wanted to know what was really going on in Jules’ family and what secret they were hiding. Every time I thought the drama was over, it would ramp up again. I was rooting for Jules and Mick the whole time!

I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a new adult romance novel. I also can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

I received this book and this is my voluntary review.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. Always with love”

What a beautiful book! Bespoken is the second book in The Carmel Cove series.
This small town romance book is beautifully written.
Mick and Jules’ book is a story about getting your voice back and not being spoken for again.
Love everything about this book.
The way Jules found her strength and fought for her dreams and her love.
Miles...The Gentle Giant. Swoon!! So protective and such a gentleman. Love him so much.
The storyline is perfect. Such a feel good book that teaches us to fight for your dreams and to never let someone speak for you.
This was my first read by Dr. Sharp and it will definitely will not be my last.
I’m so looking forward to Besotted. I really can’t wait to read Eve and Miles’ book.

Be prepared to feel all the feels because Sharp has done it again. I haven’t giggled, smiled, or jaw dropped this much for a book in awhile. Sharp brings us another beautiful story full of love, loss and family. Jules is the strong yet vulnerable heroine while Mick is the handsome, southern gentleman. Their love story just blossoms and you can feel the love radiating off the page. The plot was very engaging and will keep you on the edge of your toes the entire time. Plus the not so little Easter eggs, were just to die for.

Small town romantic suspense is my jam, and Sharp delivers everything I love about the trope/genre without being cliche. Usually, the heroes in these types of stories are some form of law enforcement, security specialists, or bodyguards, etc. Our hero, Mick, is none of those things. He's a carpenter. And yet, he's as protective and possessive and alpha as any of those other guys could hope to be.

Jules is smart and strong, but also soft-hearted and wants so badly to see the best in people. And even when they disappoint her time and again, she never loses hope that good will win.

Jules and Mick bring plenty of heat, swoons, and laughs amongst all the suspense and angst, and Sharp paints a picture so real, I want to pack up and move to Carmel Cove.

Do you think Roasters is hiring?

“ Be hold enough to find your voice, be brave enough to listen to your heart, and be strong enough to live the life you’ve always imagined “

I’ve been loving small town romances recently and this one by Dr Rebecca Sharp has been one of my favourites. I love the world she has created and all the things that came with it. The vibe of it all was right up my alley and the men oh god the men. Especially miles...

This was a great opposites attract romance. It was heart warming and emotional. It felt so deep and had alot of depth which i really liked. I felt like i could really connect with the characters especially Jules.

Jules came from a extremely overbearing family. Her parents sheltered her and wealth and money was all they knew. She was spoken for her entire life. Never getting a say in what she does, who she dates and what her future looks like. No college, no friends and no work. Just the future her parents gave her. But Jules was ready to spread her wings. She came from a wealthy, powerful and popular family in Carmel Cove. She was royalty, but behind the scenes no one knew how much she was suffering. After her accident something snapped in her and changed her life forever. I admired her strength especially with what she went through, I can’t stand when i read a book with horrible parents. It bugs me in a different way to anything else, but that’s good because this book made me feel strong emotions which is why i loved it alot. Jules loved her parents and appreciated all she had but she also deserved to love and live however she pleased.

“ Not everyday the princess gets to save the prince “

I love small town romances. It’s adorable and heart warming. I awed throughout most of this, especially with Mick. The man of the story, the gentle giant. The romance in this book was great and I couldn’t get enough, even the sex scenes were great and steamy. There love was put through the ringer. It was an emotional journey. So many obstacles standing in there way. Honestly this is a story you wont want to miss out on. Mick Madison was extremely protective and so damn sweet. He gave me heart flutters

“ Mick Madison would always do whatever it took to protect me, even if it cost him my good opinion. Even if it cost him me “

This book was also about finding your voice and speaking out. Which is a very important message. Jules had a difficult choice, standing up to her parents but she finally chose herself and I admired her for that. Certain situations were thrown in her way can she overcome them? Read this book and find out!

“ All the wealth and power and status of the world, never stood a chance. Because in the end... Love wins “

Rebecca Sharp does it again, Bespoken is the second book in the Carmel Cove series and this book will not disappoint!
Jules is the heiress to the Rock Beach Resort; her glamorous world was perfectly tailored to further her parent’s empire. She was raised to never make a decision for herself and to be her parents puppet!

After her grandfather’s death, she is put in a situation where she gets hurt and is saved by Mick, the giant of a Texan who falls for her on sight! The events after this night highlight how her life has been moulded to suit her parent’s business and there is not one thought of what she wants in life.

To protect her Mick is told to stay away from her and under no circumstance tell her that he saved her life! This is something he struggles with as he cannot stay away from her!

She spends more time her cousin Laurel Ocean at the coffee shop and finds herself in a circle of friends and extended family so precious to her that her immediate family begin to take second place. Mick is always around to support her and give her the strength she needs. Along with his neighbour Gwen they show her that she can have her life’s ambition if she wants it, to be a nurse.

As the story develops Mick shows her what actual love is like and she grows from a quiet and nervous woman to an independent woman who makes her own decisions. Mick is a carpenter, living a simple life with so much to give but he is worried he cannot give her what she has been accustom to. He shows her through the story how he is everything she needs in life!

This is a wonderful story with a few twists! What is great is Mick is a twin and so the next story will be his and Eve’s story and I just cannot wait!

I read this as an ARC for joandisalovebooks and have given my honest opinion.

Another Excellent book to be added to this series.
I LOVE being in Carmel Cove, its turning into a town full of many surprises.
This Is Mick and Jules's story an Opposites attract that will make you swoon. It has so much packed into the pages, its like being on romantic thrill ride.Because there is a back story that is so intriguing and I Loved it.
I adore Mick this gentle giant of a man completely stole my heart.
I know we all love to read about the asshole alpha badboys, but it was so refreshing to read about a guy who wasn't an asshole or a badboy. He was such good man, a protector who loved with his heart on his sleeve and was still super sexy.He would do anything for the people he cared about and Jules was someone he had cared for from afar because he didn't think he was someone she could ever want.
Jules was opposite to Mick but only by how they lived their lives and their situation, she was born into privilege and status .Her family were rich and she was told what to do and how to behave her whole life, she was kept away from the towns folk of Carmel cove confined to the family resort Rock beach, where she would be her parents puppet and play the part they molded her to be.
So where their lifestyles are opposite I think that they were similar in the way they both loved and wanted to protect their family and friends and eachother. It was so lovely reading how Jules was trying to break free from the shackles her parents had put her in with the help of Mick ,her cousin Laurel and the friends she was beginning to make, after the traumatic experience she went through she started to see things differently.
A perfectly imperfect fit I Loved these two together, Rebecca's words and the way she weaves her stories together is pure genius.I was completely under her spell, the depths of her characters and the descriptive way she writes situations and thoughts of the characters just lures you in.
Some of the words are such good advice ,it touches my heart and I always come away feeling like I Have learnt something important about life and the way we judge others.
I really enjoyed reading Bespoken, its romantic, exciting and suspenseful I did not want it to end and I am already in anticipation for the next book.
Rebecca sharp has Amazed me once again
I highly recommend it.

This book took me on such an emotional journey that had me pulling for Jules to find herself and backbone. She is almost like royalty in her town and her mother and father are master manipulators when it comes to getting what they want from her. She knows nothing except how to be polite, quiet, spoiled, and do as told so when she wants to do something for herself, she sets out on a journey to be more than just from money. I felt so bad for her because all she wanted was to be loved all her life instead of bought things and told who to be. Mick was this gentle giant that once he saw Jules knew he wanted her but never believed that someone like him, a carpenter, could be worthy of such a beauty like Jules. Certain circumstances and situations occur that bring them together and Mick becomes this force that protects, loves, and tells Jules how strong she is. Some manipulation from her parents and other situations occurring has Jules wanting to flee from the life she is use to and right into Mick’s arms but cant they have a future together when he thinks they are from two different worlds that he doesn’t fit in and will she stand up for herself and Mick to fight for what they have? Such a good read and you know it’s amazing when the author writes characters you not only love but want to reach through and punch, like her parents.

Dr Rebecca Sharp did an amazing job with the second installment to the Carmel Cove series. Bespoken is filled with so many secrets, lies and family drama.

Jules Vandelsen comes from one of the wealthiest families in Carmel Cove. Her parents are the owners of the biggest resort, Rock Beach Resort, and they will do anything to protect their legacy. Image is everything to her family.

Mick Madison is a simple carpenter and he will do anything for the people he loves. The moment he saw Jules, he couldn't stop thinking about her and after the incident at Roasters he knew that he must protect her. The truth about the incident haunts him and he wants to tell Jules, but he must keep the secret for as long as possible to keep her safe.

I loved the story of Jules and Mick. They come from two different worlds, but their feelings for each other are stronger.

Blood isn’t always thicker than water.

Bespoken can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend that you read Beholden before starting with the second installment.

It is a MUST READ.

Once again Rebecca Sharp has slayed me with her writing and small-town romance, BESPOKEN. I adored Jules from the very start and just wanted to wrap her up in a warm blanket and take care of her. Of course there was no need to fret because the perfect arms are waiting for her in the form our hero, Mick. Gah, Mick! And you know he’s good with those arms and hands being a carpenter. *wink* The man is just the best and then some. I loved the way he uplifts Jules and shows her what love is really supposed to be like. The support and comfort he brings her and the way she flourishes into a strong, independent woman gave me all the feels and my tummy all the flutters. There’s just something about the way Rebecca Sharp writes romance that I can’t get enough of. The characters feel like family, the feelings are tangible, and the places feel like home. 5 stars.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Mick and Jules’ story. Jules is an heiress of the Rock Beach Resort, and her life has been moulded by her parents. When Jules is involved in an incident, she is temporarily left with memory loss. Mick is a carpenter who was there that night, and with his huge heart and love gives Jules the confidence to peruse her own path in life and to suffer her family’s wrath. This is a beautifully written story which is emotional, heart-breaking, and with twists, suspense, and love which all leads to a riveting and all-consuming tale. I was totally hooked throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

Jules has been groomed since she was young to take over her parent's empire. Mick owns a construction company with his brother. After being taken away from her family, Jules soon learns that she has been in a prison rather than an empire. Mick is taken by Jules but knows that her parents will never let them be together. Will Jules and Mick get what they want or will her family stand in their way?

Bespoken is the second book in the Carmel Cove series. This was my first Rebecca Sharp book and will not be my last. An opposites attract small town romance that has you filled with so much hope. I loved the growth of both Jules and Mick through their relationship. The group of friends that are so much like family makes you want to be part of their group. I can not wait to catch up and return to Carmel Cove.

This second book in the Carmel Cove series starts with a bang and brings you all the things you love in a romance.

This is the story of Julia and Mick, two souls from completely different worlds, brought together by fate.

I so enjoy the world that Dr. Sharp has created with this series. You can "see" the small town, "smell" the scent of Roasters coffee and the ocean from Larry's Lookout. You can feel the sense of family and belonging at the heart of this story.  You can't choose your birth family, but you can choose the people in your life to create the family that you want.  That's one of the most resounding points of this story.

Another point is the love and relationship that Julia and Mick have!  He is the perfect alpha-hero to Julia's heroine. They complement each other perfectly and the way that Mick finds Jules' "voice" is nothing short of swoony!

There is a bit of intrigue, danger and drama in this story too! It will keep you riveted to the story.

You get glimpses of past characters, but in no way does it distract from the main characters in this story, they only add to it and make the story more realistic.

I cannot wait to read the next story in this series!!

Wow! Just a beautifully written heartwarming emotional story, riddled with such pain of wanting to belong, wanting to be loved not just admired. Jules was just portrayed to the public as a flawless princess to be paraded like a shiny posession for the benefit of Rock Beach Resort. A pawn under her parents control. This was the only life Jules Vandelsen had known the one her parents allowed. Up until one fateful night turned her life into a terror filled events that changed her life upside down.
Mike Madison who is a co-owner in a construction company with his brother Miles finds himself drawn to Jules each time their paths cross. Mike thinks he will never be good enough for the town princess. However when he looks closer he notices Jules in way more complicated than he first thought.
After the recent death of Jules and Laurel's grandfather he had left the Roasters coffee shop to her cousin Laurel. That's when all the action suspence and drama comes alive.
This story has so many emotions twists and turns you too will be drawn to Carmel Cove. The characters were beautifully written heartwarming emotional with such passion that you will be left begging for more adventures.

Jules was raised in an affluent lifestyle and could have anything she wanted financially but the same couldn’t be said emotionally. She has never felt accepted for who she is and has always felt that what she has been given comes with a huge cost until Mick raises feelings in her that have her questioning whether she lives the life she chooses or the life that others have chosen for her.

From their first meeting Mick knew that Jules was special and all he wants is to ensure her happiness. He is a carpenter who is not part of her social circle and believes she deserves more than he can give her, but he may just realize the only thing she needs is his love.

Mick was the perfect combination of sweet, sexy and strong while the evolution of Jules character as she became the woman she was destined to be was wonderful to see. This was a great addition to this series, and I am looking forward to more stories set in this locale.

Rebecca has once again crafted a beautiful and breathtaking story.
Jules and Mick were absolutely amazing.
Opposites in nearly every way, they were somehow perfect for each other.

I loved the strength that Jules showed throughout the story and the way that Mick protected her, even from afar.
It wasn’t always easy, but the best things in life rarely are.

This story reminded me that outside appearances are just that, a facade. That sometimes - behind all the wealth and possessions - lay people who are cold and calculating. People, who look like they have everything but may be searching for the things that money can’t buy; love, affection and warmth.

It was cool to see Jessa and Chance make an appearance- it makes me want to go back and reread their story.
And I’m so pumped for Eve and Miles’ story. I have a feeling it might be a tough read.

Wow, what a phenomenal read.

The second book of the series and my goz, I absolutely LOVED it, i loved beholden but this one, damn I couldnt put it down, this little town draws you in and you want to live there, jules is a strong beautiful women who's been through the mill and is just trying to find her place in it all.

Bespoken is phenomenal. It has the right amount of angst, heartbreak, and passion. The added suspense was killing me the whole time until the answers to my questions came to light. Jules and Mick are such a cute and desirable couple.

I loved the journey Jules went through in Bespoken. From being this bespoken, sheltered girl to a strong, independent woman. Her journey was amazing.

And Mick, love him.

Another amazing read by Sharp.

Another story that was filled with a ton of love, emotion, dreams, betrayals, and others putting one's own needs for power and prestige and sacrifice at the determent to other's happiness. The story was one that engaged the heart.

I always try and pick a favorite character and mine this time around is Mick, hands down. We love that the man was loving, caring, considerate, patient, kind, possessive and genuinely a fantastic down to earth guy who was a gentleman and when he wasn't acting gentlemanly he was every girl's wet dream.

The story had great characters that were engaging and fun and ones that were all about friendship and love and about creating a family that was chosen by each of them and not one of blood. The chemistry between Jules and Mick just sizzled.

Overall the story was heartfelt and real and one that sometimes the family you have is not the kind of one you belong to and families can be messy whether one is filthy rich or just blue-collar and that in Jules case you can't always judge the book by its cover.

My only complaint is that the story was a little slow-going at first but, once it started heating up, things got fascinating real fast. Never give up on your hopes and dreams, and it's never too late to reinvent yourself, and these characters clearly have a habit of doing that.

Julia (Jules) Vandelsen has been raised in a sheltered, controlled and wealthy environment, groomed to reflect the high class status, affluence and appeal of her family's  Rock Beach Golf Resort, Her parents expect her to embrace the resort as her legacy and push her to accept it by keeping her away from family and friends in Carmel Cove. Her own dreams are pushed aside, but she understands that her parents only want what's best for the Resort and her future...or so she's been led to believe. Her beloved pap recently died, and her cousin and best friend, Laurel Ocean came home after being gone for years. The cousins have been kept apart by the Vandelsens and Jules doesn't fully understand why. It's sheer cruelty on the part of her parents, once again. There are problems at the Resort and some strangers have been in meetings with her mother and father, ostensibly to provide funding to keep it running. There are rumors that a drug cartel is looking for a place to smuggle cocaine through Carmel Cove, but Jules is certain her parents have nothing to do with it. When she is kidnapped and beaten, Mick Madison comes to her rescue just in time to save her life. She lost a great deal of her memory during the assault, but the doctor told her it may come back in time. Due to the trauma and rescue, Mick and Jules are tied together from this day forward and Mick knows that he will never let her go. He has a secret, however, that he has to keep from Jules or he could go to prison. The romance that develops between these two burns ever so slowly and is sweet, sexy and shows her what life outside the walls of Beach Cove can be. Along the way, Mick and Gwen help her to understand that there is no reason to give up on the original plans she had for her future. She always wanted to be a nurse, like Gwen,  before her parents convinced her that she owed them for all they provided for her, even though it didn't make her happy. When her parents confront her with an arranged marriage to a wealthy investor, Jules stands up to them in a scathing refusal, but it's no good. They hatch a plan to make her acquiesce as she always has. What an ending! I couldn't help but cheer for Jules and sigh over Mick. He takes her home to Colorado to meet his family and, in a happy coincidence, he and his twin, Miles, just happen to be the brothers of Jessa Madison, now engaged to Chance Ryder from Enjoy the Ride! I'm really anxious to know what's going on between Miles and Eve and can't wait until their book comes out. Another excellent read from Rebecca Sharp!

Bespoken is book two of Dr. Rebecca Sharp’s Carmel Cove series. These books can be read as standalone titles. I’ve read them both, but I can honestly say you could pick up the series with Bespoken and not be lost at all.

What I Liked Most About the Book: Jules and Mick. I’m a nurse (pretty sure my callsign gives that away!), so the fact that Jules’ desire to become a nurse, as well as her own person, was enough to spur this journey of discovery she was on thrilled me. And her spunk, while well-hidden for all of her life, had me constantly cheering for her. Watching her struggle to overcome the emotional abuse her parents had doled out was quite literally heartbreaking at times. Having been through an emotionally abusive relationship years ago, I could really understand the struggle. The back and forth between believing in herself and then…not. Mick’s devotion to her, and to helping her figure out who Jules really is, made me want to hug this friendly giant Texan and encourage him when he felt like he wasn’t enough, either. I also loved how this book depicted that family doesn’t always have to mean the one we’re born into. Sometimes we have to break away from that family and make our own in order to thrive.

NICUnurse’s Rating: Something about Dr. Rebecca Sharp’s writing doesn’t always resonate with me. I really hate to say that. And it’s not because she’s not talented. She writes very descriptively and in such a way that reminds me of the classic literature I read in high school English. Some of those were easy to follow and easy to understand what the author was trying to say, and some of them weren’t. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s not what I usually want when I pick up a contemporary romance. I wish I could say differently, but her books are usually hit or miss with me, but enough of them have been hits that I’m usually willing to give the next one a try. I didn’t quite connect with her writing in Beholden (Carmel Cove #1), but by the end of the book, I was invested in the characters and invested enough in where the underlying mystery was headed that I wanted to read Bespoken. And this time, I was really pulled in much more completely than I was in book one. Maybe it’s because it was easier to identify with the main characters. Maybe there was more action and more dialog. I’m honestly not sure…maybe it really was just me and this weird headspace I find myself in during our crazy 2020. Regardless of the why, this time I connected with the story and the characters in a way I hadn’t with the first book, which was a very pleasant surprise.

I give Bespoken by Dr. Rebecca Sharp 4 out of 5 stars!
