Sweet Love

Rate this book
That awkward moment when you insult the boss on your first day on the job.
Yeah, that just happened.

In my defense, if I'd known it was Connor Colby of the Colby's Chocolates and Candies empire standing by the display dressed in a candy cane-striped suit, I never would have opened my mouth to tell him that their signature chocolate bar sucked.

How was I supposed to know he was the boss man?

He was in town temporarily to help save his father's company.
I was only there for a payday to jump start my art career.

I had one job-help him come up with a rock solid marketing plan.
The task included long nights and late dinners working by Connor's side.
It did not include kisses, sex in the supply closet, or ... worst yet, falling in love.

Why is that so bad you ask?
Because the man is leaving right after our mission is complete.
Job done.
Finito.

Will our sweet love become a sour punch to the gut or will we be together now & later and forever? Author's Warning: This standalone office romance is a lot sweet, a bit sexy and one with a ton of family feels. One-click this story for the wounded hero trying to save his father's company, the artistic heroine who faints at the sight of blood, her hilarious fun loving friends, and office closet sexy times.

Sweet Love is a delicious read that I didn't want to end. I love Mia's books so much and this is definitely another great read. It gives you all the feels. It's full of laughs and love that will tug at your heartstrings in so many ways. Charlie (Charlotte) and Connor will have your heart from their first awkward meeting. These two have chemistry and respect for each other that leaps from the pages. This story has so many other characters that I fell in love with and I'm hoping for their stories too!!!

Just by the title alone,I don’t think anyone would really be surprised when I say that Sweet Love is such a sweet romance. It’s one of those romance books that leaves you feeling content.

*sigh*

This is why I love Mia Kayla's books. It always hits the right spot.

It's both heart-wrenching and heartwarming at the same time.

Both lead characters are so relatable! With Charlie, I can relate how she misses her Dad, how she hero-worships him and how the lost of him greatly affected her every step and decisions in life. I also love her candor and her awkwardness...

I love how Connor, despite being a wealthy banker in New York, also shows how he loves his family. His relationship with his brother is more or less how anyone with siblings do/act... I love their dynamic. I love that he's an example of the saying "Money can't buy happiness.." that even though they had money, he'll gladly choose time with his parents over it.

This story had me making heart-eyes... I love it! If you're looking for a feel-good, butterfly-fluttering-in-your-tummy kind of read, then this is the book to read! It's funny, sexy and swoon-worthy!

This hero... doesn't seem to understand the word NO. It's a common theme in an otherwise light and sweet book. I love a good office romance and don't normally have an issue with the dynamics, but there were several instances in this one that just didn't sit right (more on that in a minute). It's kind of a shame because I was enjoying the book up until a certain point - and I've read solid books by the author in the past - but this one lost me more and more as it went on.

The story follows Charlie (our heroine), who is just starting a new job. When she gets into a playfully heated conversation with a cute guy at work, Charlie unknowingly changes her life forever. Connor is actually the owner's son, her coworker/supervisor who has come home temporarily to help save the family business. As the two spend time working on their plans together, attraction blooms. But Connor has no intention of staying in town, so his efforts to win Charlie over only complicate matters.

I really wanted to like this one, and there was a lot about it that I did enjoy. But a hero should never (minor spoiler here) get turned on thinking about a “kiss” taken while the heroine was unconscious and in need of resuscitation. A hero - who is kinda sorta the heroine's boss - should never coax the heroine into a physical relationship, knowing that she isn't sold on the idea. A hero shouldn't be so self-centered and pushy. That's where this one started to unravel for me. There's nothing extreme but there are several situations that got a lip curl from me. I appreciated receiving an ARC (and am voluntarily leaving a review), but this definitely wasn't my favorite from the author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had very high expectations for this book and unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to them. There were some funny moments, some sweet moments and I did feel the big emphasise on family, but it just didn’t hold my attention. The beginning of the book was very slow, in turn making the rest of the book drag on.

Connor has returned home to help save his families company. Since childhood, he has had a strained relationship with his parents due to them focusing all of their time and effort into the company. His goals are to rehabilitate the company and return to his life and job in New York, but he didn’t anticipate meeting Charlie and becoming absolutely infatuated with her.

Charlie has uprooted her life to move to another state when her mother remarries. Her love and passion reside in art and drawing, but her mother never acknowledges or supports this talent. Taking a job as a computer tech in a chocolate company, never in her wildest dreams did she think that she would not only find somewhere she can let her creativity flow but also find love.

I had a lot of trouble connecting with the characters, both main and secondary. Unfortunately, they just lacked depth and personality. The sexual tension and intense attraction between Connor and Charlie were mentioned and spoken about a lot and whilst I was being told that they had this magnetic attraction and incredibly intense sexual tension, I personally didn’t feel that.

I have read a book by Mia Kayla before and I absolutely loved it, so maybe this book just wasn’t meant for me. Even though I didn’t quite enjoy this one, this is only my opinion and you may really adore it.

4 Stars!

Mia Kayla isn't new to me but it's still early in our book relationship, LOL. *wink* But for real, this was a good one by her... a quick read that had one broody, different, very frustrating-in-moments, throttle him kind of hero and a heroine you'll find yourself rooting for.

Sweet. Fun. Steamy. Swoony a times, especially that very end. A wee bit complicated. Sweet Love was an office, boss romance that twisted me all up right from the start and had me hooked into the very last word in that epilogue. Charlie and Connor will sweep you right up, give you a funny meet cute, and promise to make it all worth it by the end.

I really hope this a series because those side characters are just begging for a book or two of their own.

I definitely recommend this book.

I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end!

Hot Boss and chocolate seems like the best way to start a new job, in a new city. Charlie made a great first impression on her new boss without knowing, he was actually more than her boss. Charlie uprooted her life in Wisconsin and moved to Chicago when her mom remarried. She lucked out getting a job and two new best friends at a family owned chocolate business. She dreamed of being an artist but computer technician was what her mom pushed her towards for stability.

Connor has a great life in New York, he liked his job as a banker, his friends and liked being away from his family. He had to come back and save the family business. He was at a loss where to start until a certain woman walked in and suggested rebranding the product.

One sketch was all it took and Connor insisted Charlie help him save the company. Little did he know they would be saving each other. You could feel their chemistry from every word written. You will be cheering them on the whole book. This was honestly a Sweet Love story, the title couldn’t be any more perfect.

Oh my goodness I LOVE Charlie and Connor! And the fact that I could eat all the candy I want all day every day if I had their job! But no, this was such a sweet story (no pun intended) and I couldn’t put it down. There was a twist I didn’t see coming and I just couldn’t put it down! So so good!!

Connor's taken aback when the gorgeous girl standing in his chocolate company's offices insults not just their chocolates, but their brand, their logo and their packaging - the whole shebang! But she sparks something in him, inspires him into demanding that change to his family's chocolate brand in order to save it. Will Charlie agree to help him?

What about falling in love though? Charlie can't possibly do that, because Connor's stay is very temporary. He and his father haven't seen eye to eye in ages. He's only there to get the company back in the black. Once Charlie helps him do that, he's gone. Gone back to his fast paced life in the big city. Leaving behind the woman who helped save his family and his company. The woman he's fallen in love with just as she's fallen for him. Will he realize too late how important she is to him?

This is as sweet as its title suggests, witty, and a little steamy to boot. Their meet cute was adorable and funny, and Connor and Charlie are a cute couple. I don't know if this is the start to a series, but I certainly hope so, and if so, I'll be reading for sure.

I liked this one. It took some time to read it but I finally managed.
The heroine is full of art, ideas, and she is hurt and with low self-esteem. She doesn’t believe in herself. Whereas the hero is successful, coming back to Chicago because of his failing family business.
The book itself is sweet, you can see the heroine evolve. The hero, however, was pushy and a bit selfish (those who have read it know what I mean). But the two together made so much sense. Everything in the book basically happened for a reason.
It was a bit too dramatic for my liking, but I can close my eyes for this one.

🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫I think this should be chocolates instead of stars

Aawwww this couldn’t have been and sweeter if it tried, both the story and its characters. If you’ve had a relationship, when you know that special person is your forever, just because you know, then this book will definitely resonate with you. Connor Colby will have you swooning and sweet Charlotte ( Charlie) will have you falling in love.

Connor had returned to Chicago, his home state and the family business to save it from utter devastation. Colby’s chocolate and west’s have been a staple in many lives throughout the years, but now their branding is old and sales aware dropping drastically. Connor is set a course to save it, from his father who is intent on keeping it “ just the way it is”. In a candy cane outfit, Connor arrives at work to find a gorgeous blonde, basically dissing on his chocolates, yeah he knows it but her utter truth about a kind of refreshing, little does he know, that woman will be the one to make the biggest change in his life.

When Charlie lost her dad, she lost part of her mother and an absolute piece of herself. He was always her champion for her art, something her mother didn’t agree with. Fast forward some years her mum is now remarried, they live in a mansion in Chicago, and she now starting a new job ( organised by the evil, step sister) at Colby’s in their IT department. It’s not her passion but it is an outlet for income. On her first day she meets, a strange man, an overly excitable employee and a straight as nails girl who turn out to be her best friends. I adored Alissa and Casey, there are the epitome of best friends. Crazy girls, but perfect crazy for Charlie. But it is that strange man, who happens to be the owners son, who really takes her fancy. It’s obvious from their first meeting he wants her, he’s going to get her and they’re going to save the world…. Well nit literally, but they’re going to save Colby’s in the curtesy, sweetest way possible.

I can see this being an awesome start to a new series…. Well I can only hope. I’d to see more of, Casey and Alissa, Nana, Kyle ⬅️ the brother with all the bets, and of course Connor and Charlie.

I'm not crying you are! Well at least you will be after you finish this book. It's been a long time since a book has made me cry but the sweetness of the ending just made me all warm and fuzzy. I'll be completely honest I thought some of the build up to love was missing, the story itself was amazing well written with strong characters but the I love yous came out of no where for me. There wasn't enough romantic interaction in my opinion for me to be like of course they do! But when it came down to it you could feel their love, my wet cheeks are proof of that. Aside from how random that seemed for me the rest of the story was amazing, the characters were hilarious and the way they interact is what you always hope to find in real life, every relationship in this book ended in just the perfect way.. except for one *wink wink* (book number 2 anyone?) Sweet Love is genuinely the sweetest love, with a lot of steam, friendship, family, and humor mixed in. A one of a kind amazing story. Now if you follow the author on Facebook you'll know this all started from a single picture of a candy wall, so to see the amazing world she created out of that, with the special little nod to one of her other characters was really really something special. I have loved this author for a long time but getting an almost behind the scenes look at how creative she is just strengthened that for me. I loved this book and I forever can not wait to see what comes next!

Well this book was adorable! It was just like the name and blurb promised as a "Sweet Love" romance. I thought the characters fit well into their boxes and LOVED the supporting characters (FYI-totally hope to see more of them in the future). The story was cute and had some humorous moments with a little steam thrown in. All in all, it was an entertaining book that will keep your attention! It was not one of my all time favorites, but definitely was an escape that I enjoyed and needed in all of this craziness. I give it a 4 outta 5 stars!

Charlie has recently moved to her hometown and has put her dreams for the future aside and taken the practical route which has her working in technology for a confections company. It might not have been her best career move to insult the products to her boss but rather than getting her fired he is inspired by her input.

Connor finds himself in town trying to modernize the family business before it is too late. That means trying to overcome his father’ determination to keep everything status quo when a revitalization of their marketing may be the solution to their problems. Convincing Charlie to help was the easy part as denying the chemistry and connection between them may be the biggest challenge of all.

This is a fun and flirty story about love and family that is equal parts heat, heart and humor.

Mia Kayla writes a deliciously tempting and sweet story in her new office romance Sweet Love.

Sweet Love is the story of two people finding their true self in the least expected place- work. Charlie, a recent transplant to the area longs to have a career in art. Biding her time working as a computer tech she runs into none other than a peppermint clad Willie Wonka, Conner Colby.

Conner is the son of the Colby Chocolate and Candies empire and is ready to do whatever it takes to get out of the family business and back to his home in NYC. But from the moment these two meet over the candy bar, sparks fly as they both work together to save the company and achieve their dream.

Mia Kayla brings the love and humor to this office romance. Kayla has began bringing more and more humor into her novels. This time around she's created some very interesting, fun-loving and hilarious side characters. I definitely need more of them. However it's her adorably cute main characters, Charlie and Conner, who truly steal the show as they tempt one another to cross the line between co-workers to lovers. The chemistry is there from the beginning of her story and continues to build throughout the story making this one an engaging read from cover to cover.

4.5 SWEET ★★★★ !!!

My first read of Mia Kayla and ohmygosh I love it!!!

This book is just like its title, it is very sweet.
It follows the story of Charlie (Charlotte) & Connor Colby.
They connect since their first meeting and their connection only grows stronger as time passed by.

Charlie is unique. She is smart, artistic, creative, but at the same time, she is insecure and vulnerable.
Colton is strong, smart, persistent, on top of being a handsome man. However, he harbors hatred towards his parent and he does not want to solve the problems between them.
Charlie helps Connor mend his relationship with his parents as Connor helps Chalie built her confidence.
They truly destined to be together.

This book definitely a must-read from me if you are looking for a sweet, fast-paced, read.
You will smile the entire way of reading the story!

This book was so adorable. The story line was very original and cute. I loved the theme of family and how both Charlie and Connor created a marketing strategy of family even though they both had rough ones growing up. Charlie and Connor had a lot to work through and it felt like suprises kept coming on top of the problems they knew existed when they started their relationship. I loved seeing how they handled all the challenges!

Kyle's bets with Connor were the best. The outfits made me laugh so hard and I seriously hope we see Kyle's book soon! If you're looking for a sweet and dirty romantic comedy this book is definitely for you!

Connor is back this time in Chicago to do one thing only - miraculously save his father's confectionery company, then get the hell on back to his own job in New York. But he meets Charlie, who hates chocolate, but seems to hold the key to his dilemma, and suddenly its his own heart that needs to be saved.

Charlie is a new transplant to Chicago. After insulting Connor and his family's business on her first day, she's surprised that he wants to still keep company with her. When they both find a way for her art & a marketing strategy to blend, Charlie's confidence & creativity soar. But, as Connor's visit winds down, Charlie finds herself wishing that a different kind of sweetness - the kind she finds in Connor's arms - would last forever.

This is truly a sweet, emotional read. It's also filled with lots of sass & humour, too. I wasn't ready for it to be over.

I really loved Connor & Charlie as a couple. I loved their shy, awkward beginnings, and I loved reading as they figured out all the other things that went hand-in-hand with love. Charlie is the type of heroine that you can't help but cheer on. She's sweet, selfless and vulnerable. She has it within her to be a sort of cool bad-@$$; she just doesn't know it yet. Connor is a wounded hero. He's been hurt by his family, but still tries to do the right thing because he loves them. Watching his character development, and as he recognises that forgiveness others is the best gift to give to yourself was pretty awesome. I also loved that Connor always made sure that Charlie knew he cared. He never withdrew from her, even after a fight.

I wholeheartedly & unreservedly recommend this read. You'll love every line.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Too good to put down

OMG this was so good. I could barely put it down.

These two were made for each other. Charlie was so honest and down to earth and so amazingly talented. Connor needed someone who could love him for who he was and not the dollar signs.
They completed each other so well. Their chemistry was off the charts but Connor had put an expiration date on their relationship. His hang ups with his family could ultimately loss him the love of his life.

Will he choose to stay for the girl or leave because he can’t stay?
I cried sad tears and happy tears while reading this beautifully written story. During certain parts, I could see in my minds eye exactly what they were envisioning and I was so hooked. It was described so well.

What made their love story even better was their supporting cast. Her new friends Casey and Alyssa were a hoot as was Kyle, Connors brother.

Sweet Love is the perfect name for this book! This book gives you all the feels!! We laugh, we cry, we fall in love and we get a love story that will stick with you long after you’ve read the last page. I absolutely enjoyed EVERYTHING about this story.

Charlie is starting her life all over again. In a new city and state. Doing a job that she really doesn’t love. She’s heartbroken and all she wants is the love and acceptance from her mother. But starting this job at Colbys takes her on a journey she didn’t expect.

Connor is home trying to get his family’s business out of the red and back on track. He is only in Chicago for a short while. But what he wasn’t expecting was Charlie. Once these two meet the we follow as the sparks fly and these two have a big spark that you can’t help but feel through the words on the page. And we get one Sweet Love story.

Mia Kayla has written a sweet love story that will have you flipping the pages to see how this story ends. We get everything we love in a romance with this sweet read.

What a sweet love story!

I fell in love with Charlie from the moment she first opened her mouth, flustered by the gorgeous man in front of her Charlie can’t help but run her mouth, she begins her first day by telling the owner of the company how much she dislikes his products and the old fashioned branding. When Charlie finally realised who it is she is talking to she is beside herself with embarrassment.

Connor is obsessed by Charlie, her looks, her personality and her talent, but Connor is only a temporary fixture at Colby’s, he despises the company that his parents spent his childhood putting before him, he doesn’t do permanent and Charlie doesn’t do temporary, but the chemistry between these two is so explosive, they can’t help but ignite.

I loved Charlie, Casey and Alyssa, the quick friendship they developed and the hilarity that is Casey! The relationship between Kyle and Connor is also special, the brothers have a close friendship but also have a hilarious camaraderie and make ridiculous bets.

The relationship between Charlie and Connor annoyed me at times as they kept getting close, then pulling away, but once they finally gave in, I enjoyed the progression, the depth of feeling and emotion they each brought. There were lots of shocks, twists and turns I wasn’t expecting and I loved the ending, how the pair found their way back together. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I've been struggling with reading lately - stupid pandemic - but this was a great book to start to pull me out of my book funk! This is a book that checks all of the boxes for me.

The meet cute for Sweet Love is just that - cute. I loved the set up of two strangers running into each other in front of a wall of candy and letting misunderstanding and brutal honesty ensue. This initial meeting created an even footing for the characters of Connor and Charli that I don't think they would have had if full identities had been shared.

Both the main characters of Connor and Charli were easy to like and root for. Neither character was perfect, but they seemed to be aware of some of their flaws and compliment each other well. The secondary cast was highly entertaining and helped move the story along at several points. I had at least a grudging respect for each of the characters we got to see here.

The story behind Sweet Love was multifaceted, but everything worked together so well that the various elements truly fed off of each other. We saw both Connor and Charlie deal with family issues, there were job issues, friendships and of course romance. While the romantic relationship between Connor and Charli tied everything together, it was great to see the growth they experienced in other facets of the story.

Sweet Love is a complete standalone, but I really hope it is the beginning of a series. There are several secondary characters that I would love to see get their own books.

Mia Kayla's novel is full of exactly what this title says. SWEET and LOVE

Adorable characters you root for, fun side characters, HEART, FAMILY, and HOME.

These are all the things I look for in my HEAs and which she delivered on.

Your heart will hurt. You'll laugh. You'll smile. You'll be back together at the end.

By saving a chocolate company, they saved themselves.

He is the son of the owner of the one of the largest chocolate companies in the country. She is the newest hire in the IT department who told him that the signature Colby’s Chocolate bar was the worst of the bunch. They were standing in front of the candy wall in the lobby of the company on her day of work.

And did she tell him what she thought! The chocolate was awful. The branding was absurd! Does every single item have to have COLBY’S in big stock letters?

Little did she know the man standing in front of her dressed up in peppermint suit looking like Willie Wonka was her boss, Connor COLBY!

And so Mia Kayla writes the story of the revitalization of a company on the verge of a company about to go under, about a son who only came home to save his parents’ company and not his family’s company, about a girl who really wants to be recognized for her art (by her mother) and not her computer expertise.

Sweet Love is just that – the sweetest of stories about reconciliation and rejuvenation and ultimately, respect and love. Respect and love for oneself and for others. This book has everything, and it is written so well in Mai Kayla’s unique style. The humor between the brothers and their bets is hilarious! The sensual attraction between Colby and Charlie sparks right off the page! The romance is truly swoon worthy.

O, I wish I was Charlie! I really do!

Sweet Love – Mia Kayla

I’m always happy to see a Mia Kayla book pop up in my email. Mia has a way of giving readers the sweet and the tart and when you put it all together you get a most delicious experience.

Sweet Love is about Charlotte aka Charlie Greyson, new to Chicago and starting in first day as the computer tech person at Colby Chocolates and Candy. She has the most interesting first discussion with Connor Colby, the problem is Charlie doesn’t realize he is a Colby and he is currently in Chicago to help save his parents business. Take note of that again “his parent’s business” NOT “the family business.”

What’s even worse that not knowing whom she is talking to Charlie, proceeds to tell him their chocolate needs work and their packaging is to old and the company needs an entire re-vamp! YIKES! Then again maybe not, because Connor’s “job” is actually doing the same thing but for a big business bank in New York. Maybe Connor has an ally when it comes to the revamp.

The emotion runs high in Sweet Love. Both Charlie and Connor are fighting long time internal battles trying to get over past hurts that have left them both with open wounds that only they can see.

While using her artistic flair and her flat out honestly helping Connor gives these two wonderful but sad souls the opportunity to share, discuss, support and eventually begin to have more than work on their minds. They give each other someone to count on.

Mia Kayla has written a beautiful story of two people, who truly need to sort out their feelings and move beyond the tumultuous inner war that has caused them to live their lives almost separate from their respective families. She has inserted humor in all the right places, a fainting spell or two; there could be a red and white stripped suit, and several other strange wardrobe changes, a couple who works creatively together and in the end a couple who truly won their inner wars. She has also given Charlie and Connor …. Sweet Love.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am
voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a very cute romance about romance at work. It stars Connor who is the big boss at a candy company, He really works in finance in NYC but he is helping his family company out and trying to save them from going under before he goes back to NY.

Charlie has moved home to Chicago and has gotten a job as an IT specialist in the Candy Company that Connor runs. They meet on her first day but she doesn't realise who he is and she intrigues him with her ideas about the company.

He wants her to work in marketing but she doesnt have any experience and so she agrees to work extra hours to help him come up with some marketing ideas. And thats who they start getting to know each other but Connor is only in town for a few weeks. He is going back to NYC so they have to try and make it work,

This is a story about finding yourself and being true to yourself and your dreams and letting no one stop you. Not even your pre-conceived ideas. Its about friendship, love and family and seeing that relationships can change and maybe you don't always see the full picture at first and sometimes you have to look again.

I absolutely loved this story and all the characters and I hope the author makes this into a series because I loved Charlie's friend and Connors brother.

Charlie has moved her life to a new place, and has a new job. On her first day, she runs into a hot guy at work, and promptly gets into a heated conversation with him. Little did she know that she was insulting her new boss from the jump. Connor has come home from New York to help save the family business, but he's not planing to stay as he loves his life there. He runs into a sassy woman who actually makes a great suggestion on how to start saving the company so they start on a new journey. As they spend time working together, the sparks are flying as their chemistry is strong enough it won't be denied for long. However, there's still that little complication of him leaving to go back to his life so how will this all play out?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

we need to accept no everyone are sharing their feeling easy, not everyone are open to share their feeling, that’s called personality. i don’t shout it loud doesn’t meant i don’t love,....
